    Branch needs the ball only in open space. He does not run routes well. He gets no separation. Does not fight for the ball. And then drops passes. This youngman needs to be coached up more.

      He's completely lost his confidence! But a delayed drag a across the middle, after two go routes or deep crosses would do that!!

    Moss is just over throwing his target. If Moss struggles against Maryland, LR should insert Maiava that’s more mobile and can run away since our O line sucks too.

      Non calls all game. Watch the entire PSU D-line get held atrociously every single snap. Those non-calls you’re whining about literally kept Moss breathing the entire game. The refs were bad, but consistently bad. Not one sided

    It’s a difficult time right now for SC fans…. I’ve been a fan since 1963… Riley needs to hire a great OC and new OL coach… use better time/ clock management and better okay calling… not sure where the team is mentally… in my opinion if this change doesn’t happen…we need to look elsewhere for his replacement. You know who else doesn’t have a go to receiver that’s a game breaker? Minnesota and Michigan, who don’t even have a competent QB either but they beat this team. What’s not getting talked about enough is that even with the struggles from certain units, this offense has still given the team a lead with a couple minutes to go in each game that was lost and that lead was blown. 2 of those games the other team needed TD’s the last drive and they ran the ball down the throat of the defense and went and got it. Finishing games is a huge problem.

    I personally would like to see Maiava get a couple special packages/plays in games just to keep defenses on their toes he’s much more suited to rpo type plays than miller and clearly this o-line is much more suited to run than pass protection

    I agree with you. on most of this. I don't know why Joyner disappeared. Was he injured? Thunder and lightning indeed. Mostly, this team just needs to learn how to win those crucial moments. Basically they need to stay the course. It's going to come but yes the tight end went wild. Don't forget that Lynn's mantra first stop the run. They did that, but the killer was the 2 4ths and long. Jaysus that suxd.

    Gabe - Penn State was the perfect game to see what is wrong with USC. Our offensive coordinator sucks.
    Look at the Penn State offense in the second half. They opened up the playbook and it was creative. So much misdirection, so many different formations and motion, etc. This is what a creative OC does, not what Riley does. The ONLY area where Riley is any good is QB mentoring. If Penn State had Miller, they would be on fire.
    You make so many great comments. Our tight ends could be great, why are they not being used to get the ball?
    Honestly Riley is the whole problem. He is lame. Penn State is a much better team than most people understand. They did not want to put stuff on tape with their creative offense, but our defense forced them to do it. Ohio State should thank us.

    My two cents worth; at the start of the 2024 college football season, I truly believed that the USC Trojans would have gone 12-0, maybe 11-1, with a BIG 10 championship along with a national title.
    They have the best WR room in the nation, their talent is undeniable. They have an outstanding RB room, and the OL and DL could use some improvements, but they can still get the job done well enough to win games. And the QB room, well they have options!
    I sincerely believed that with the offensive talent they have; they would score 40-50+ points on their opponents.
    Easily, the Trojans would have been 6-0, at this point in the season. But some bonehead plays and several bad calls - or no-calls, have been difference.

    Defensively we need to play the freshmen more. Jamil and Solo have combined for 2 tackles per game in the last three games. That doesn’t justify the amount of time they’re playing every game. It’s time to play Kam Fountain, Carlon Jones, Cowan and Hughes much more often in the second half of the season for no other reason than future development

    I agree with some of the comments about utilizing Maiava in those RPO's. Yes the OL are better when running downhill & Z. Branch is better when catching & running downhill. This puts defenses on their heels. I liked the play calling in the 1st 2 quarters, then Riley reverted back to his bad habits.

    Moss is on pace for a 22 TD/10 int season which would be the worst QB performance since the Helton era. But you wanna blame the WR corp made up of true sophomores playing in their second season instead of the redshirt junior QB in the middle of his fourth year of college 😂😂

Hes been caught from behind every game

  • @teekay_1
    @teekay_1 6 дней назад

    Watch the game again. The O-line was fine (despite putting in 2 backs to chip in passing situations), it was really the D-line that gave the PSU QB all day to throw the ball. If you look at the defensive alignments, they appeared to be running a 6-4 base defense to stop the run, which is PSU's strength and they dared the PSU QB (Allar) to beat them with his throws. They never really adapted to the changing conditions in the 2nd half.
    As to what went wrong, PSU clearly made adjustments at the half (or the coaches yelled at the guys to play better) and USC didn't really make any adjustments. As proof, look at the stats in the first half versus the 2nd half.

  • @FootballFan-ko9ep

    Okay we aren’t perfect. I’m liking the direction USC is going though. Defense has definitely improved and I have no question the offense will too. We have a very very young OL. So, Trojan fans, take a step back, take a deep breath, breath! It will take a couple recruiting classes to really start making strides. But think about it, lost to Penn State ranked #4 in the country by 3 in OT? Lost to a very good defensive Michigan team by 3 on the last drive? This will get fixed. Then we roll.

    Riley was paid insane money to get different results than all the other head coaches in the last 15 years since Carroll left. He’s not done that. Again, the season is a failure and we waiting to see what meaningless bowl game we will end up in. It’s been the same story every single year no matter who the coach has been. Riley was paid the high salary he demanded to be special. There’s nothing special about his tenure at this point and the school and fans have every right to be pissed.

    Think about this: we put up 30 and missed out on so many scores because we refuse to run. The score could’ve been easily over 40 and had been a dominating when over Penn State. Think about that. So no no one‘s impressed with the 30 points. Was a decent coach it would’ve been a dominating win. Because a decent coach would’ve run the ball over and over again. And against Minnesota too.USC would still be a playoff team. And the cancer.

    The problem is, they won’t bench John Humphrey, Gabe. They don’t have a true competition based environment. People would be benched already, and new players will be installed already. Humphrey will continue to be in there, unfortunately. But a real coaching staff would have benched him before when they saw his deficiencies and put someone in Who was chomping at the bit and willing to lay it all on the line. That’s what true competitive environments do. USC does not have a truly competitive environment no matter what Riley says. That is the issue and problem. Number zero would be running the ball along with number four if that were the case. But it’s not the case because he doesn’t have a truly competitive environment.

    You can't have a #1 WR when you don't have a clutch QB. If USC had a QB that could extend plays then the WR room would go off!! Miller Moss has 2-3 seconds to get the ball off so how many explosive plays do you expect to see from USC!
    Zach Branch is most lethal when plays are off script!! If Moss can get outside the pocket and do things off script, then you'd see more explosive plays on offense!
    USC is only gonna go as far as MILLER MOSS TAKES THEM!!

  • @primafacie40
    @primafacie40 6 дней назад

    The season is not a training ground for offensive lineman. That the games are being used as training, Ground and progress as Lincoln Riley says is defunct incompetent, inadequate and unqualified coaching. That’s what true competition at practice should have done. Riley has soft practices. That’s why his team is not tough. No one‘s figure that out or called him out on that yet. He is Hilton 2.0. Don’t practice like Pete Carol and beat each other up and practice so that when they come to the games, the other teams are nothing compared to what they went through at practice. Riley does not have hard contact at practice. There is no true competition or battles going on. has anyone not figured that out yet? This is why he does not allow media in. No accountability. Carol had open practices and everything. It was like game day at practices. They went hard, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Gladiator hard. Survivors and the ones who rose the top played on Saturday. And the elite got better and the others were raised up. Riley is two. He’s raising Powderpuff. This is why the team cannot finish games. They are not tough and that is by design per Riley. So when the old line is getting their training during games, you can see the deficiency of the whole thing. Riley is a garbage coach. And we’re stuck with him.

    The problem is the coaching. There’s no discipline. Everyone is acting like little boys on the sideline. No one is dialed in and focused. Thats why Alabama teams were so successful because Saban had the highest of accountability for his players and that trickled down to his coaching staff. I don’t think Riley has that effect. Franklin from Penn State is similar to Saban but not as extreme. He shot his players down for planting the Penn State flag on the 50 yard line after they won. That’s true accountability.
    SC doesn’t have that winning culture they used to have because there is no accountability for anyone.

    We’re gonna lose Jacoby Lane Jay and Maya and a few other receivers if they don’t get targets. But not because they’re not getting targets only but because of the way, Riley is structuring the office and whom he’s giving playing time to. He overlay Zachary branch and under plays Deuce and Jacoby. Those guys should be more targeted in the offense by design. And it needs to be more than just a fading wrap. Every other school can simply run routes where there’s green grass. Riley does not have good patterns for his receivers. We are actually deplorable and running routes and that’s Riley‘s fault. And the receivers lead because they don’t get enough targets. Look at our ends. Are you saying that is Lake McCree? Since Lake went down no tight end is playing getting targets. That is a Design thing. Lake McCree should not be the only tight end who is capable and he’s not the only tight end that’s capable. Brylee‘s designs are terrible. This is why people transfer. Riley over promises and under delivers.

  • @primafacie40
    @primafacie40 6 дней назад

    Gabe, Riley gets away from the run and continues to insist on the past when his team is built for the run right now because he’s incompetent. He’s an adequate. He’s inferior. Any decent coach who wants to win goes we’re running team despite what I want and it’s working. Wins matter more than what I want from the team. And if his team is showing, it’s a run team that any coach who truly a good coach would see that. But Riley‘s insistence on passing is emblematic and revelatory of his, inadequacy and incompetency and inferiority as a coach. Duh. That is the definition, the living definition and portrait of inadequacy and incompetency. It’s pure idiocy. USC could have won at least Minnesota and Michigan. Had they kept running the freaking ball. And Penn State. They are five and one and six and oh if Riley just runs the freaking ball. Even with this thin roster. He would be a genius if he just stopped being an idiot and insisting on a pass. But it’s too late now. The season is lost. Riley is walking around same old, same old insisting on progress and they’re building something together with no accountability because he shielded himself with a contract. So while he’s a decent economist, he’s a terrible terrible coach.

    Lol. Just as you say what a bad screen game you have the video show a wide out screen play that rips off about 35 yards.

    How come they can't sack the QB? That's so weird bro

      They don't have players that can win 1 on 1 battles. Lynn had better players at UCLA last year than he does now.

    Great video (hard to re-watch) but... nice job with your content!
    DISGUSTING & HORRIBLY WEAK effort by our coaches (looking at YOU, "Coach" Riley!!) and the players - FULL STOP!
    We're NOT READY or built for BIG10 play!.... Yet!
