@13:47 Electric Skoda Enyaq. I had a blast watching this. That weird sounding truck you asked about, i might be wrong, but it sounded like a 2 stroke. And the motorcycle looking cars, are Velorex, and the best thing about them is that you can take the "body" off, and wash it. :)
This is the East German car Garant 30K, the predecessor was the Phänomen Granit 1500 and the successor was the Robur. Yes, the engines were two-strokes. The cars were produced in Zittau, Germany, the old Lusatian-Serbian town of Žitava.
My flight to Greece was rerouted and I ended up in Prague for 3 days. I am very glad that that happened, as Prague is beautiful and I soaked up the history. The Czech people are really friendly and have a rich history in engineering.
@Rudron1 I remember having a beer in an old art deco restaurant near a bridge, and then visiting the Museum of Communism, which was really interesting. Thank you for the recommendation. I will visit the National Technical Museum next time as it sounds right up my street!
Understandable. Czechs are one of the most underrated nations. Historically few examples - one of the oldest universities in Europe (earlier than Germany), give to world pistol and howitzer, without sea give world ship propeller and so on. 2 of 4 oldest car manufacturers in the world are from Czech republic. Americans brag about gun and car culture, but Czechs was the pioneers in worldwide scale.
What I love about these oldtimer meetings (our city also has one every year) is that they are the most European events I know. Classic car owners come from all corners of Europe to proudly present their vehicles. The mood is always cheerful and peaceful and one moment you're having a nice smalltalk with a Scotsman about the stylish whitewall tires of his 1958 MGA Roadster and the next you're behind the wheel of a pre-war Alfa Romeo racing car ((build 1923) driven across the Alps by an enthusiastic Italian. You don't even have to be a classic car fan to simply find this fantastic.
8:47 It´s Velorex also made in Czechia. These were made fore handicapped peoples. Fun fact is that there is switch which can switch transmision and you can reverse use forward gears for reverse and you are able reach 80 Km/h on reverse, but I don´t know who would like to try it reverse 80km/h in this car =D.
At 8:50 - on "what are theese" - those are velorexes (singular velorex). It is actually a two-seater trike powered by engine from motorcycle, with canvas on iron bars shell. Was considered cheap alternative for a car, and it was mostly people with disabilities, or cripled, who operated those vehicles.
The little green pickup truck is a Barkas Fromo, made in East Germany. It has a fun sound because the engine is a two-stroke originally from the Wartburg 900.
Small motorcycle car with "leather" bodywork (at 8:50 ) is called Velorex. It was sold to disabled people in 50s/60s. At the end modern car is Skoda Enyaq (yes, it is electric)

Also nicknamed "fleeing tent" among other less translatable things. And described once by Clarkson as "if a motorcycle ran into the back of a cow" if I remember correctly.
It was also nicknamed "Hadraplan" as a parody of Tatra 600 "Tatraplan". They only replaced the "Tatra" with "Hadra" which means "rag". It was also nicknamed "Pytel na mrzáky" which means "Sack for cripples" or "Montgomerák" which means "Coat of Marshal Montgomery"

The blue 1980's coupe is the late rear-engined Skoda Rapid, usually a 1.3 litre 4-stroke 4-cylinder with carburettor, nice little sports car. I used one of these as a daily drive until 2014.
When I was in vacation in Czechia.., not once, but multiple times we saw people touring around in columns of oldtimers. Czechs really love to have some history on their roads. They were an enjoyable sight to see.
Fun fact, Skoda of course also made tractors in past. I have old book from about 50's mentioning that (if I recall correctly) tractor Skoda 30 could be running at both gasoline and diesel. Starting procedure was to switch it to gasoline, start up to heat up whole engine properly, stop engine, switch to diesel and start it up again. But it seems it can run on both fuels as true hybrid vehicle :)
8:47 that's Velorex. :) Škoda Sentinel is also great to see with your own eyes (not in this video). A truck running on steam. Even older than most of these and seen only in museums these days.
Not familiar with ANY of these vehicles but what a handsome bunch ! The '30's looking vehicles in particular look really good. It's underestimated how much Czech industry contributed to the WWII economy of you know who. They really were world leading heavy industry back then
Czechoslovakia was one of the first countries to ever have a car driving on it's territory. That exact first car to ever cross our borders is currently in the Prague technical museum.

I had a 1961 Skoda Octavia in burgundy, back in the 80s. :D Unfortunately I didn't use it for long. That pickup track at 11:16 that sounds so good with the two-stroke engine, I think a 3-cylinder Warthburg engine in it.

that little green truck with weird sound is Barkas Framo , german made truck with 2 stroke 3 cylinder water-cooled Wartburg engine :D and .. Greetings from Czech Republic man! ;)
It’s a two stroke engine. Wartburg and Trabant brands used them a lot. Cheap to manufacture and relatively more powerful than a same size four stroke equivalent.
Tractors are from company Svoboda. On the end they ride to original place where they was build. Now its main Škoda service. Modern car on the end is Škoda Enyaq its completely electric car.
So cool to see these old cars! Skoda, Wartburg 311 (PoliceCar), Lada... These PickUp Trucks with the funny enginesounds are Framos, made in Saxony. They are powered by a 3 zylinder 2stroke with 28PS.
Tatra’s designer named Ledwinka sold one of the models to Ferdinand Porsche. Some parts are interchangeable between some models of VW and Tatra. I use to have a Beatle 1963 and I could replace wheel rims or headlights with Tatras build up to the mid 50’s. The suspension systems used by Tatra ( the front & rear torsion bars) were used as far as on Eurovan (T4) build from 1993-2004. And obviously the flat 4 cylinder air cooled. Tatra started V8 air cooled 2.5 L on T 805 truck and on car T 603. Diesel V8 started on T 138 & 148 and is still used on a new models. Before the V8s there was a strong V12 on previous models like T111.
BDW in the video is a mix of Czech cars and Eastern Germany’s pick up green/black 2 stroke named Barkas. The two tone you liked are also East German 2 stroke 3 cylinder 1 litre motor car called Wartburg. The two tone brain van are East German Galant. Was used for all sorts of town deliveries from bakers to post offices. And then become the upgraded model called Robur. Also East German product.
The big vans at 10:56 are East German Garant 30K cars, the predecessor was the Phänomen Granit 1500 and the successor was the Robur. The cars were produced in Zittau, Germany, the old Lusatian-Serbian town of Žitava.
hello, as someone who was born in the Czech Republic, I am glad that you are interested in the Czech Republic as such. The videos you react to are a great taster, but the best will be if you come directly here to the Czech Republic and see it with your own eyes. if you ever wander into the Czech Republic (close to Brno), I'd love to meet you in person, and maybe I'll show you great places, whether in nature or in the city, there's enough of everything for how small our country is.
Great video and classic vehicles meetup! enjoyed it! Even for an Euro guy like me, the was tons of unknown vehicles most of them in the video were Skodas
That thing you guessed of beeing a VW was probably a Tartra. The VW Beetle was basically copy of Tatra 97. Tatra sued VW over the Beetle, but Germany invaded Czechia and the case was thrown out.
nice....iam from koprivnice, city of tatra 🤩...czech car and industry are one of the best in the world...tatra, skoda and more other...i like watching your videos...👍👍👍
We had some of the early sixties and mid seventies Skoda cars in Australia. There were also a lot of 1950 model year Skodas on register in Australia, althogh I have never seen one in the flesh.
hey... so im czech and last year we had a HUGE ride of inported old american cars just showing off driving trough the town and i got to check it out... i only one thing to say about it... "M´URICA"... so big and loud for no reason its almost funny and i love it
never wouldve guessed that youll be watching a video shot entirely in the town where I live :D (Its not THAT surprising, Skoda is being made right here ) The green car was Skoda Enyaq Coupe - quite possibly RS iV version
4.59 Skoda 110R. When I saw that behind the iron curtain in the mid 80's I realized communism couldn't kill all spirit. Funny thing though was that we were there with hydropneumatic Citroen, which often drew a crowd when started and rising up.
Not knowing exactly for anything, but the little tractors seem to be of the Lanz-Bulldog Pattern, or that may just be the English name. Basically a single cylinder fuel-oil engine with direct drive, and a clutch that essentially engages or disengages the drive. To reverse means reversing the engine rotation... but these seem to be the 5-10 Hp versions, low power but torque out the wazoo. THE two-stroke motorbike in the 50's GP circuit was the CZ or Česká Zbrojovka, they pioneered the expansion chamber in the exhaust system.
You are right it is in Mladá Boleslav. Mladá Boleslav is home Town of Škoda Auto. And that metalic blue is really 80's car named Škoda Rapid 130. And almost all cars have gas engine and they really sounds like this.
Yes Lidl is a supermarket chain from Germany. 1973 the year it all started, but now they are all over the place. Unique brands that rival the more known ones and most of them are even better tasting, or some of them lets just say that. Cheap well... or cheaper then in the rest of shops/markets/supermarkets/groceries, anyway. Like u dont really pay extra for the brand, just the product, cause its in house, or well those that produce stuff for Lidl, subsidiaries or whatnot. Anyway i like to shop there. Maybe i butchered some info but i think u get what i mean. Also about the cars i lived through the era of some newer models there and it was pretty common to see going on about, nowadays its a rarity only probably most of the time u can see it on these events. Also that dark blue one yeah, its a Skoda Rapid 7:00 (dont know what year, forgive me) but it was like a sportier version of this 10:43 that beige or brown or what color is that, and this red 5:00 is even earlier of this one 9:13 (5:29, like a evolutionary step to the one in 10:43) and all in between etc. many models with few differences and u can search for it if interested by adding Skoda 100, 110, 120, 130 etc, quite many models. Or try this one type in search ŠKODA 130 RS A5 :) ure welcome .
Skoda also made tanks. After the occupation during WW2, the Skoda tank factories were taken over and a great deal of the tanks were used by the German Army.
The tricycle with a cloth body is the Velorex (also called unofficially "Hadraplán" = "Rag-plane") is indeed a very atypical motorcycle (types would differ according to the engine used). There is also far more rare (and less famous) 4-wheel version, that is a real rarity, far less good-looking (it somewhat resembles the East-German Trabant, I am not sure if 4-wheeled Velorex is considered motorcycle or car). Apart from that the Velorex brand was also making the sidecars for Jawa motorcycles (those were beauties).
2:10 robur garant was used as a literally anything 03:00 Skoda 1202 03:12 skoda 1000 mb 03:25 Skoda felicia marked as a most beautiful car made by Czechoslovakia 03:57 Tatra 57 04:59 skoda 110r 05:03 Wartburg 311 05:29 skoda 120 06:57 skoda 135 and backround skoda octavia 1959 07:23 skoda tudor 08:07 skoda 100 mb and Skoda 1203 08:55 skoda superb OHV and theres a more skodas but IDK all of them actually
Some of these cars were rear engined, 2 stroke and air cooled. One of the Skodas you commented on was a Felicia, (Early 1960's). This name, and others, were resurrected by VW after they bought the company and you could still buy a Felicia up to around 2001.
12:33 those are reenactors in uniforms of pre WWII uniforms of Czechoslovak police (black one) and border guard. Also a gendamerie behind the one with camera.
Btw that sound of green pickup is classic 2-4 cylinder 2 stroke engine. Those things are loud as hell, inefficiend as fuck, but they are powerfull because for the same RPM they have double the ignitions. Today 2 strokes are used only for bikes, mowers, chainsaws..., in higher RPM its producing the classic screeching sound of bikes.
8:47 Is Velorex 350 it has engine and some other parts from motorcyle Jawa 350. 10:40 red one Škoda Rapid grey one Škoda 120/105/130 (depending on what engine it has) blue one Škoda 1202
Yes, they were Eastern cars, when the Berlin Wall came down some of them made it to Western Europe. When I was a car mechanic in the '90s a friend of mine bought a Barkas B_1000 van, men that thing was loud, high revving, and very very slow, here are some stats and specs of them if you are interested. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barkas_B_1000
12:34 Those seem to be members of some historical society in historical uniforms from interwar period, but I can't tell whether those are military or police uniforms. But that is quite common on such events.
I dont know what this small green truck is, but I'm pretty sure it has a 2-stroke engine. And the police car is from the DDR Volkspolizei, from the former east Germany.
the green and black truck with wooden bed makes these "wierd" noises, because it is a two stroke. And the Police Car is from east germany (ddr) as germany as splittet by the wall.. :)
Most of the cars there are Skoda man... it even take place in headquarter of Skoda in Mlada Boleslav city, most of the video is from main square and than in the end it was Skoda Enyaq... that was parking lot of Skoda servis centre :)
Did you play Mafia 1? The original one from 2002. You would see some of the vehicles there, because the designers were czech and used our historic cars. You cant get closer to driving them, they made a great job reproducing the veterans.

11:25 it is two stroke engine i think, 11:35 the car is from a family movie " Ať žijí duchové!"
Look..Tatra,Škoda,Aero,Jawa,Letov,Praga,Avia,Zetor..and many..Respect to you from CZECH REPUBLIC😉
This dark blue coupe from the 80's is Skoda Rapid called "Czech Porsche"
Nice video I am from Czech 🇨🇿🇨🇿🇨🇿
"M´URICA"... so big and loud for no reason its almost funny and i love it
never wouldve guessed that youll be watching a video shot entirely in the town where I live :D (Its not THAT surprising, Skoda is being made right here ) The green car was Skoda Enyaq Coupe - quite possibly RS iV version
oh hey I live there. Hopefuly you'll get to visit one day, I'm sure you'd like the Skoda museum.
those old tractors are from 1939, they are from Svoboda model DK12
Nice vid mate! The Modern looking green car was Škoda Enyaq IV, and the weird sounding truck is maybe 2 stroke i think
Hello from Czechia 👋
You pretty much nailed the 3-wheel tractor. It´s Svoboda DK5 and the started making them in 1934
I'm czechian and i love your vids when you are reacting to czechia.
8:48 they are velorex, my parants has 2 of those. Nice videos👍
You are right it is in Mladá Boleslav. Mladá Boleslav is home Town of Škoda Auto. And that metalic blue is really 80's car named Škoda Rapid 130. And almost all cars have gas engine and they really sounds like this.
That modern car is Škoda Enyaq. And is electric. First clear electrimobile from Škoda.
06:45 That is GAZ 21 "Volga " and I am that old that I was using that car in Tallinn ( Estonia) like taxi ! ( Year was something 1976 ! ).
8:49 Velorex - Hadrplán
13:48 yes it modern version škoda octavia or eniaq
GREETINGS FROM CZECH REPUBLIK .. our cars were beautiful back then :)
2:10 robur garant was used as a literally anything
03:00 Skoda 1202
03:12 skoda 1000 mb
03:25 Skoda felicia marked as a most beautiful car made by Czechoslovakia
03:57 Tatra 57
04:59 skoda 110r
05:03 Wartburg 311
05:29 skoda 120
06:57 skoda 135 and backround skoda octavia 1959
07:23 skoda tudor
08:07 skoda 100 mb and Skoda 1203
08:55 skoda superb OHV
and theres a more skodas but IDK all of them actually
This green pickup is East German Barkas Framo with 3cyl 2 stroke engine.
That "little sporty car" the black one, was an Opel GT, and at least here in Norway they were called the "poor man's Corvette" :P
Those tiny pickup trucks called Barkas, have a 3 cyl. 2 stroke engine. Same goes for the green and white Wartbug policecar.
Some of these cars were rear engined, 2 stroke and air cooled. One of the Skodas you commented on was a Felicia, (Early 1960's). This name, and others, were resurrected by VW after they bought the company and you could still buy a Felicia up to around 2001.
London to Brighton, classic commercial vehicle run 👌
SENTINEL Steam lorries run 👌
Skoda Felicia convertibles, Wartburgs, Volga, other more random old and newer Skodas, a Fiat 850 coupe...
The green new car on the end you talked about Is škoda nad yes it's electic.
And also the car with UMBRELLA Is a referenc to czech movie.
8:52 Velorex aka Runnig-tent
So many tractors was in prague
Yes, they were Eastern cars, when the Berlin Wall came down some of them made it to Western Europe.
When I was a car mechanic in the '90s a friend of mine bought a Barkas B_1000 van, men that thing was loud, high revving, and very very slow,
here are some stats and specs of them if you are interested.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barkas_B_1000
The tinny sounding green truck is a two stroke engine👍
12:34 Those seem to be members of some historical society in historical uniforms from interwar period, but I can't tell whether those are military or police uniforms. But that is quite common on such events.
8:47 they call hadraplán (clothplan, plan like airoplan)
I dont know what this small green truck is, but I'm pretty sure it has a 2-stroke engine. And the police car is from the DDR Volkspolizei, from the former east Germany.
Skoda 105 Rapide,,,,,, well you will have to LOVE it to get in one, 2 stroke madness
the green and black truck with wooden bed makes these "wierd" noises, because it is a two stroke.
To hlavní náměstí je Staroměstské pak Komenského potom jedou k bývalému Centrumu ( kruhový objezd ) .. Boleslaváku jeden
Thats actually from Mlada Boleslav the home of Skoda. This was in front of the town hall and and in the Old town square. I was there it was awesome!
Byl jsem tam minulý rok, i u knihovny na traktorech i v Habeši na stadionu.
Did you play Mafia 1? The original one from 2002. You would see some of the vehicles there, because the designers were czech and used our historic cars. You cant get closer to driving them, they made a great job reproducing the veterans.
