Jumping jehosaphat my friend, what a fun day of cutting earths tasty goodness. Awesome variety of stoney stuff you've put together for our viewing pleasure sir~ 👍 So the snows have cleared here and as soon as the rains slow down and the rivers drop another 1.5-2.5m (4-8ft) it's time to get on the hunt! Woohoo~ I will say that the gaps in your videos has given me plenty of time free to cut and polish dozens of little thundereggs which has been productive, but still would rather be entertained with some magical stone yumminess from distant places on a more frequent basis when i'm not out digging myself..hint hint~🤔 Love that this stuff has just been sitting around for all this time and then one day through either hard work, great research or more often than not, I trip over my shoelaces and stumble upon some amazing specimen to expose the heart of, what's not like? I so much love our shared hobby that is at once beautiful, relaxing, peaceful, healthy, educational and can be relatively inexpensive if done a certain way. (not how I do it 😒) Rock on bromigo! Thank you sir as always for the post and will look forward to your next offering.
Hahaha! I love your comments mate!!!! I know I wish I was able to keep the pace with a video a week... I so wish I could. But even now I’m confused at how I was able to hahaha! In good time though I hope to have a couple sneaky ones up in between the two week wait... hopefully 😬 It’s such a great hobby mate and I love the pieces you have shared on your channel, just professional quality goodness with Shaughn! I hope them creeks drop for you guys soon so the hounding can begin brother!!!!!!!!! I’m actually excited for all of you waiting with baited breath for the great yearly reveal of rocky goodness! It would be so much fun to be over there to experience that! Have a great couple of weeks and I’ll talk to you soon brother!!!
Rookie Rockhounding Thanks for the super kind words my friend and cannot wait for teleportation so we can share in the adventure directly! haha Still hope you know how much we appreciate your efforts and as always look forward to seeing your next post~
That moss agent and basalt is soooo awesome. Also loved the triple cut definitely looks like water flow stopped in time. I am heading to the north shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota USA hunting for agates next week!! so jazzed!
I love watching your videos of rocks....makes me want to go out and look for some again. I never cut any of the rock I have or collected, but it makes me think. Oh thanks for the warning of your "Man Flu" and how contagious you are....FUNNY! Makes me glad Im a woman, maybe it will just pass me by....LOL God bless and keep showing us your treasures.
They're beautiful, as always. Just like I said.... I have never seen a ugly stone, I've only seen prettier ones. I hope you and your family have a great weekend.
Happy weekend! I’m out camping this weekend so might not be able to respond straight away to comments but I will ASAP! Have a great weekend and hopefully this trip I’ll find some goodies to share 😉
Absolutely beautiful stones, I've been cutting some at my local lapidary society shop, they don't seem to appreciate the beautiful stones found right here in 100 mile radius... some of the folks actually have indicated that I might buy a tumbler. I have been finding thins that I was unaware was here in my state. That's for being so inspiring to others. Looking forward to your next video.
Oh that’s awesome Rebecca it’s such a brilliant hobby and it’s incredible what you can find beauty in in your local area! Tumbling is so good too! Happy rock times and thank you so much for your kind comment!!!!!
😁 your welcome. You know more than me lol. I believe you! ..so you didn't run into Yowie chaser over your holiday?? Lol that guys precious..he cracks me up! Hope you all had a great break n look forward to ya! next video. Cheers 👍
We usually don't find "stuff" that is not pretty inside, but once in a while they really disappoint. That is what keeps it interesting for me. Another good vid my man. You and your crew havagudun!
Absolutely love it! I have a ton, lol, of rocks, and you give me inspiration to work with them. I've got a few items for polishing, and I have a trim saw. But I like the way you polish your rocks. I'm in Oregon. Great stuff here, but I've always wanted to go live in a cave in Australia to mine opals. LOL Thanks for sharing, and keep it up!! 😊👍💖
Oh! That little moss agate has my heart! And I'm not sure I could cut a piece of my petrified wood because I love that mine look like wood chunks BUT it is every satisfying to see those slices!
These turned out so pretty, wow. I really loving petrified wood, so cool. love to see a timeliness history of that piece and how it evolved over time. So earlier I stated in a previous video that I was going to starting cutting on my own for the first time. I think I'm going to finish all your videos first because each one is so helpful, and you answer so many question I have before getting into it and messing up beautiful rocks!
I I had asked a while ago about what you do with your thunder head rocks. Now I’ve seen this video and totally understand. It also dredged up a 60 year old memory. As a kid I vaguely remembered a visit to one of my Dads friends. He was in the process of tumbling some stones. I was amazed as how different they looked when polished and thought how cool it would be to do that when I got bigger. Needless to say, I got distracted and do photography instead. I always though admire beauty in all forms!! I hope your man flu never gets cured!!!😀😀😀 Thanks for the video!!!
Hey bro. The brown I call rootbeer and I think it may be common opal which has many colors. I have really green to brown to yellow opaque etc. One day I will do a video and show you all out BC agates and opals etc. Thanks again for all your awesome vids bro, it got me through the winter.
Hey mate! Yes that’s it exactly! It looks totally like rootbeer! Oh man I would watch that for sure! Let me know when you do make a video of it and I’ll be keepin my eye out dude
"The stuff" is always my fav..they are beautiful!..Happy Hounding!...(kinda like Happy Easter minus the peeps lol)..sorry corny jokes just pop in my head...
Love it as always! You definitely know what you're doing more than you gv yourself credit for. And your enthusiasm is infectious! And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one taking 10+ mins to cut open a rock. I thought my blade just sucked! 😂 Hope your "man flu" goes away and you enjoy your camping trip! Best wishes that the beast rock is still there...bring a wagon to haul that one back haha! Can't wait to see. And beautiful jasp-agate mate...one of my favorites to collect. Great piece
Heyyyyyya Marlaina!!! Haha! I thought I’d mention how long that one took cause I had the same thought you did, and realised I don’t show just how long it takes to cut some. And 12 mins feels like a lifetime while cutting 🤣 Man flu has passed and I made it through alive luckily hahaha! And the camp trip was great already to give the “beast” a Citric acid bath in an old cooler box... it’s a massive piece! Hope you guys are havin a great Easter!
@@Rookie_Rockounding Hey Jesse! So glad the "flu" was defeated and all went well on your camping trip! And you got the "beast" home with no broken back😆...well done!!! Really looking forward to seeing that bad boy😃 Time hasn't been on my side lately but I'll be hunting again soon. And in the summer I'm going camping at a pretty sweet spot so I'll make sure to take footage for ya. It's going to be great! 😊 Thanks for the Easter wishes...it was a great day full of sunshine and good times. Hope yours was just as grand!
Wow ! Chalcedony is such a nice looking mineral man ! Each one looks unique ! Interesting asf . wish I was able to find some here but naaaaah ... ;) lol that would almost be to awesome ..... Keep on giviner !
Hey Brother!!!!!!!!!!!! Man I have been slack lately and haven’t had as much time to watch others videos so I’m hoping I’ll be able to get some down time and watch yours and the others that I love so much. And dude I wish we could find what you find out here 😍 Thanks again mate and I’ll talk to ya soon!
Hey Rookie, nice rocks, nice video. I'm going to be reviewing some of your "how to cut rocks with a tile saw" videos real soon, so i can take a peek into some of the rocks I've collected this summer.
Ohhhhh heck yeah! You just wait to be amazed by their inner beauty. They look pretty enough to pick up and take home, but just wait till you see inside!!! 👌
It's catching...Since my obsession with rocks began (thanks to you) I have friends turning up with rocks they found for me to cut..Maybe i will get brave and post a video sometime...
Jessie these are gorgeous! I really love the Sard. And of course the Jasper mixes as well. The specimen piece is lovely. However the show stopper for me was TV he "Angel Wings" simply stunning. And Benny's pet wood, good on you f pi r letting us see what it's TRUE it looks like. And just how old this part of it is. Well that is if the rings are recognizable enough t ok count. I always love to see the beauties you guys are drawn to. I often wonder if I would pick up TV he same ones. Lol. Oh by the way, what kind of saw did you have? Mines not strong enough to cut the chalcedony. Well anyways thanks f ok r another great video! Had my mask and gloves ok n for TV his one. No man flu hear;)))))!!!!. Hahaha
gina lanning Hahaha! Yes good thinking with the masks and gloves, there’s no telling what could happen if man flu was to crossed over genders 🤣😂🤣 Ah yeah those wings looked rad, I didn’t even mean to cut them that way either haha. Oh no! Really? Is it that the saw would stop spinning? Or that the rock just wouldn’t cut? Here’s a link to the exact saw I have. It’s called a clipper tt180 by Norton. www.vektools.com.au/clipper-tt180bm-table-top-tile-saw-180mm-blade.html I hope that helps but please if I can help in any way let me know!!! Happy Easter sister!
3:20 - Nice job! Looks pro! 3:45 - I think the orange is weathered rhyolite, basalt tends to weather green then white. 4:24 - Nice shape! 4:46 - I think that's just a smaller scale of your spherulitic phyolite. 6:16 - Looks like seafloor that turned to rock then got smushed 😉 6:25 - Awesome! I needed to see the inside so I could see concentric rings. Likely a conifer from the cretaceous. (That's assuming it's from the same source as the Chinchilla wood) 7:12 - Stuff might be prase 8:00 - nice chunk. Go get mother chunker!
Thirst Fast Ah yes!!! The Thirst Fast breakdown!!! I love it dude. Thank you mate! Yeah I’m so not sure what type of wood that wood have been... haha! Wood have been 🤣🤣🤣 Oh prase! That’s cool man thank you. Hope you’ve had a rad Easter dude! Email ya today 🐺🐺🐺
@@Rookie_Rockounding What kind of wood would a wood rock be if a Rookie wood hound that wood? Lol, there's something there, but I think I missed it..... Oh man, soooo fuuullllllll!!! I made my signature broccoli and cheese sauce... but the turkey turned to like a meaty cream as soon as you eat it...... oh man I'm gonna sleep tonight!! Cheers m8!
@@Rookie_Rockounding LOL!!! I re-read my comment, I was already half in the food coma! Left out many words! I meant that the turkey was super-tender, and didn't just fall apart, but melted.... And my cheese sauce = 3tbsp butter, melted. 2/3 package of cream cheese, melted into the butter, add table cream (%18) to thin ~2tbsp. Entire 900g pack of Velveeta cheese, cut into 2cm cubes to speed melting. stir occasionally at first, until cheese mostly melted, then thin with %2 milk while stirring like a mad-man (try to fold air into the mix) until you can get most of the sauce off the wooden spoon just by tapping it on the pot. I do all this over low heat (2-3 on my element setting), takes about an hour. Super versatile, goes great on veg or meat or rice (or toast or pretty much anything cheese could conceivably go on).... There's my cheese rant for the day! Cheers!
Have you ever thought about lighting a torch and the transparent stones build a glass table with Light scorce in and display your stones like that you would appreciate your stone collection alot more Beautiful stones good video!!
Hey! Now that is a brilliant idea! Some would say a “lightbulb” moment 😂 sorry, bad jokes are another hobby of mine haha! But seriously that’s a great idea. I hope to try and do that one day. The light just brings the beauty out even more.
I have a piece of chalcedony about like yours but it light blue and black and then it’s got orange and white but they have the little holes in them, I was thinking about cutting and now I know I’m gonna cut it thanks to you and this video. Thanks
7:43 I have one just like that and the inside looks like a dolphin. Very similar yet across the plain from Canada huh. The earth is amazing to be able to see the same thing in Australia and Canada. It is crazy how hard that is to cut.
Oh man it’s crazy how they can be found so alike but thousand of kilometres away! And yeah, I thought my blade was busted with that guy haha, but nope just super hard to cut 😁
Love watching your vids Found a few nice chunks myself, i love losing track of time stone hoarding but the weather here in Scotland isn't the greatest. I would love to ship you a selection of some of the specimens ive found at a beach not far from where i live. Id love to see if im right in thinkin the bands inside are as colourful as i think if you've a po box that would be great. Keep the "pretty" coming lol
Hi friend! I don’t have a P.O. Box yet but I’m going to need to organise getting one I’m thinking. When I do I will definitely let you know. It would be great to see what you collect over there. Happy hounding until next time oot n aboot! Ps love the name haha!
Thanks m8. I Would love to dive into the world of lapidary. Still waiting for santa-claus to bring me my tumbler i told him ive been a good boy, so much so I'm debating if i believe or not. Cant wait for your next upload to see the size of the boulder you pull out. Will it be bigger that what we see on the surface ?? #Happyhounding
Think santas needing to bring you a bigger saw to cut that lol. I'm going to get my stones out got them scattered round the garden take a bit of lookin will post a video soon just the fear factor of being on cam. Enjoy the hounding budd.
Hey Rookie, beautiful cuts and truly relaxed, professional video! I'm thinking it's time for Rookie merchandise! In fact I love your videos so much I w.a.t.c.h. the ads! Just as a show of support in case it helps some (I really don't know how this youtube stuff works). I'm late watching it because I went rock hunting in my chalcedony spot!!! I found a really amazing rock! So interesting I'm going to put a little video up of it to get opinions. I'll see if I can do it tomorrow if the sun comes out.
That’s awesome thank you Teresa! So my saw is from a company called Norton and it’s a Clipper TT180. I haven’t tried any others yet but I really love this one. All the best Teresa!
Actually, most of these with color would be considered Plume Agates. "Chalcedony" is the clear microcrystalline quartz by itself. When there are pollutants or inclusions in the layering process, it forms an Agate. Or an Onyx. Or a Jasper. etc.
Ah I think I know the one you mean. So we have been back to the same creek after heavy rains and it seems to have either been covered by other rocks or someone’s taken it, I’m not too sure.
Haha yeah impregnated. It means the diamonds are inside the metal instead of stuck on the outside of it. I’ve only ever used a couple but haven’t really found an difference in the brands. I’d say with blades, you pay for the quality. This last one I’ve bought was around $50 Australian. But it’s got a whole bunch of life left in it.
I learn a lot from you and your the best kind of teacher, your not regurgitating info, your introducing the knowledge you learn in connection with what you are finding and showing, makes it easy to remember.

Thank you shoonit St. Sinta, yeah they were pretty hey 😊
I am absolutely hooked on finding agates here in Albuquerque new Mexico. I love them too. They are absolutely beautiful.
Yeah man, seriously such a brilliant way to spend the day. 👊

The Moss agate in basalt
Hey Brother!!!!!!!!!!!! Man I have been slack lately and haven’t had as much time to watch others videos so I’m hoping I’ll be able to get some down time and watch yours and the others that I love so much.
And dude I wish we could find what you find out here 😍
Thanks again mate and I’ll talk to ya soon!
Merveille trouvaille merci
Merci mon ami
We’re on lockdown here in central California due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Your videos are helping to pass the time. Thank you! 😊💕
Ohhhhh! That is so awesome! It’s spreading!!! That’s brilliant Dennis mate. Thanks for letting me know!
Hahaha
gina lanning
Hahaha! Yes good thinking with the masks and gloves, there’s no telling what could happen if man flu was to crossed over genders 🤣😂🤣
Ah yeah those wings looked rad, I didn’t even mean to cut them that way either haha.
Oh no! Really? Is it that the saw would stop spinning? Or that the rock just wouldn’t cut?
Here’s a link to the exact saw I have. It’s called a clipper tt180 by Norton.
www.vektools.com.au/clipper-tt180bm-table-top-tile-saw-180mm-blade.html
I hope that helps but please if I can help in any way let me know!!!
Happy Easter sister!
@@Rookie_Rockounding thanks brother! Happy Easter to yo uh and yours!.
Algumas polidas dão um Lindo colar e criar belos artesanatos!😀👍
we need more videos bro 👌😊
😊😊😊 I’m working on it haha! Rad comment thank you 😉👍
3:20 - Nice job! Looks pro!
3:45 - I think the orange is weathered rhyolite, basalt tends to weather green then white.
4:24 - Nice shape!
4:46 - I think that's just a smaller scale of your spherulitic phyolite.
6:16 - Looks like seafloor that turned to rock then got smushed 😉
6:25 - Awesome! I needed to see the inside so I could see concentric rings. Likely a conifer from the cretaceous. (That's assuming it's from the same source as the Chinchilla wood)
7:12 - Stuff might be prase
8:00 - nice chunk.
Go get mother chunker!
Thirst Fast
Ah yes!!! The Thirst Fast breakdown!!! I love it dude. Thank you mate!
Yeah I’m so not sure what type of wood that wood have been... haha! Wood have been 🤣🤣🤣
Oh prase!
Cheers m8!
Hahaha! Oh man that worked perfectly! 🤣
Happy food coma brother! They get me every time 😴😴😴 especially turkey 🦃
Cheers!
Lol...Im the same after wild tomatoes!😁
Have you ever thought about lighting a torch and the transparent stones build a glass table with Light scorce in and display your stones like that you would appreciate your stone collection alot more Beautiful stones good video!!
Hey! Now that is a brilliant idea! Some would say a “lightbulb” moment 😂 sorry, bad jokes are another hobby of mine haha! But seriously that’s a great idea. I hope to try and do that one day. The light just brings the beauty out even more.
Очень хорошие экземпляры камней 🤩💥👍
Good job, way to represent, sometimes the smartest comment is like it's full of stuff, thanks again Santa Maria man here.
Hey mate 👍😁 yeah sometimes go to say something and then remember how much I am still learning hahaha! Thanks heaps my friend.
I have a piece of chalcedony about like yours but it light blue and black and then it’s got orange and white but they have the little holes in them, I was thinking about cutting and now I know I’m gonna cut it thanks to you and this video. Thanks
Hey mate, sorry for the lateness. I just came across your comment now. Yeah they look really cool with the holes hey. Happy cutting mate.
7:43
I have one just like that and the inside looks like a dolphin.
Haha yeah I get all my rock tools from Santa 😂 and birthdays 😉
So the big guys out, but we’ll have to see how much further down it goes 😉
The "green stuff" in moss agate is said to be green hornblende or chlorite.
Oh thank you got that info! I really appreciate others sharing their knowledge! Thank you heaps!
WOW ANCIENT BODY PARTS.........
I COLLECT ALSO ...
Oml you're shaking :/ bless you. Get ya ass into bed resting. RUclips can wait. Great vid tho :) love seeing what's inside the rocks 😍
Ha thanks Ann, I got plenary of rest, I would be playing with the rocks anyway so I had to share the fun times 😁
Feliz pascoa
Still lovin your videos! What kind/ brand of saw do u have? I may get one this summer.
That’s awesome thank you Teresa!
So my saw is from a company called Norton and it’s a Clipper TT180. I haven’t tried any others yet but I really love this one. All the best Teresa!
The one looks like a landscape with a ⭐️ y night sky. Like in Texas
way nice gotta saw now to find rocks yh asx nks for the show of rocks cut
Awesome Gerald! Happy hounding!
👍
See you.
4:00 We'd call that Plume Agate in the U.S., and that's a really fine one
Actually, most of these with color would be considered Plume Agates. "Chalcedony" is the clear microcrystalline quartz by itself. When there are pollutants or inclusions in the layering process, it forms an Agate. Or an Onyx. Or a Jasper. etc.
Ah thank you so much for the knowledge there Michael! It’s so cool seeing inside them and finding such beauty goin on inside the stone.
@@Rookie_Rockounding It's a drug for me. :)
What size blade did you use? Sorry if you said it🤗
Hey Julie, it’s 180mm 7.087 inches. Don’t be sorry I forgot to mention it haha!
07:07 maravilha de pedra😍😍😍
Obrigado Eliana
6:12 looks like van goh jasper
Gosh I'm your 666th thumb up...hopefully someone else quickly clicks that away lol. Love watching the cuts. Wish I had a wet saw🙏
I would love to send you some rocks from this side of the map 😊
When you get pet wood intacted like that.....cut and polish the ends. Let's you see what's inside without cutting it open
Hey thanks Caleb, that’s a way better idea. And then it can look cool in one piece. 👌
You and benny should see if that jasper log is still where you left it.
Ah I think I know the one you mean. So we have been back to the same creek after heavy rains and it seems to have either been covered by other rocks or someone’s taken it, I’m not too sure.
Show
The Chalcedony with the bubbles in it is called oolitic jasper
What kind of blade are you using?
I’m using a 180mm or 7.087inch continuous diamond impregnated blade.
@@Rookie_Rockounding Impregnated you say? Any particular brand you are partial to?
Haha yeah impregnated. It means the diamonds are inside the metal instead of stuck on the outside of it. I’ve only ever used a couple but haven’t really found an difference in the brands. I’d say with blades, you pay for the quality. This last one I’ve bought was around $50 Australian. But it’s got a whole bunch of life left in it.
