He doesn't think his life is in danger. And the option to become a sicario is not a lifeline and its not forced on him by alejandro. He was only in the situation of being able to shoot alejandro because he wanted to be a sicario. And that also was why he didn't kill alejandro, respect for him and his profession. no - thats debate. - look at his eyes as he closes the door. Think of the first film ending - he executed 3 kids without need , here he has a far more direct need to kill
It could also mean the kids life will be snuffed out the second the door is closed. Definitely a cliff hanger that sets up a 3rd movie. God I hope they make that.
@@16cliffedge in the first movie the 2 kids and wife he killed were to cause the husband pain. The same pain he felt when his wife and daughter were killed. If not for him one of the other guys would’ve shot him and not missed.
Idk about "one of the best endings ever". It doesn't take much more than a simple google search that a lot of people are unhappy with this ending. Myself included. I think it makes absolutely no damn sense. It's a huge cliffhanger, but I still think it's pretty ridiculous.
It's a telling comment on American pop culture that, while I knew it wasn't, I said to myself "That could be the food court at the Altamonte Mall here in central Florida"

What a great face-to-face scene! - Main actor (looking in the eyes of the secondary actor, leaning towards him, having an offensive posture with a direct question and no kind introduction and explanation) : "So you want to be a Sicario? " - Secondary actor : No words, eyes trying to escape eye-contact, looking down as a sign of regret and to the side a sign of confusing. Such great body language.
A unique film, a great and serious, violent film. The military, harsh, evil, professionals are ideally shown. In the eyes of the girl, horror is read that she survived all this.
The military are heroes. They are wrath and retribution but not evil. They smite out evil with extreme prejudice. It is exactly what an angel would do.
So I've only seen this ending and my guess is the kid wants go into fast food management so I'm guessing that's why the manager wants to talk about his future with CuCus chicken. Ah it all makes sense. Haha
No he part of a group where they transport immigrants from mexico to america but the old man is part of the us military and they encounter previously which lead to the kid to know who he is, after their first encounter and bunch of crap has happen the old man needed to transport a cartel daughter to the US so he went to where immigrants go to get transported and the kid quickly remembers him as a cop, captures him, shoots him through this jaw and assume he was dead after he and his crew dipped him. A year later and that’s where you see this happen.
Wait so that's a real fast food joint? I thought it was a fictional business made just for the Sicario movies. Kind of like Los Pollos Hermanos in Breaking Bad. But I guess that fictional business in BrBa had a lot more uses.
Yeah. It’s a actual place but unfortunately this location closed down a few months ago. The Los Pollos in Breaking Bad is fiction, the actual restaurant is called Twisters.

Benicio del Toro's ability to transmit absolute POWER through the screen with just his facial expressions is incredible. One of the best and most chilling actors I've ever seen. Reminds me of Anthony Hopkins in that aspect.
In my mind he was either about to talk to him into training to become a Sicario. And for the record. The kid was told that if he killed him, he would become a sicario, however he survived the shot to the face. So this whole time his first kill, didn't really count. And he turned into that scared kid in the beginning.
He lived the last year thinking he's a cold blooded killer, a bad ass, only now to find out he's not and that realization came to him in the worse possible way.
The boy’s acting was superb He nailed the part where he acted tough and confident, to the part where he knew it was his end. And finally the look of “you got me, my life is your to control” Bravo, kiddo
Matt started it all by accepting the offer of starting a war in Mexico. He knew he got his friend killed. I loved the first one. This second one was a pale imitation for me. It had most of the same characters, but it was too macho and straightforward - a much less interesting and memorable movie. I felt like director Stefano Sollima had watched Sicario but hadn't really grasped what made it special, and even though Taylor Sheridan wrote the screenplay for both it didn't feel like it. no - thats debate. - look at his eyes as he closes the door. Think of the first film ending - he executed 3 kids without need , here he has a far more direct need to kill
@@16cliffedge but it doesn't seem like he will kill him
@@Dr.HooWho the kid shot him. Pretty sure it's become a rat/sicario for us or that's all she wrote
Great actor, del torro. His calm strength, his silence and unexpressive face.

one of the best endings ever, and the proof that sequels can be great.
Apparently the third sequel is in the making, according to the director
Idk about "one of the best endings ever". It doesn't take much more than a simple google search that a lot of people are unhappy with this ending. Myself included. I think it makes absolutely no damn sense. It's a huge cliffhanger, but I still think it's pretty ridiculous.
Good Screenwriter!
Yeah... what’s so great about it? That line ruined the whole movie.
Nah, it was suck
The soundtrack is great, it blends with everything so well.

Cool fact, saw this movie at the mall this was filmed at, Cottonwood in Albuquerque.
Yeah! I’m just tripping seeing the mall I hang out at in a movie.
It's a telling comment on American pop culture that, while I knew it wasn't, I said to myself "That could be the food court at the Altamonte Mall here in central Florida"
Cottonwood? I thought it looked familiar. Rio Rancho though.

Because if you don't answer the question the right way you don't have a future.

Absolutely brilliant
The sheer intensity of both these films is simply unmatched.
fuck i love this movie, they nailed every scene with tension and pure badassery
It's a masterpiece even the deaf guy scene, seems so real
Benicio Del Toro is so scary in both scario movies that it ain't funny. This kid is so scared right now. He knows he's dead.

Such great body language.
The body language from both actors is amazing here
This is a very interesting scene, you don't know if Alejandro is gonna teach him or he was joking and about to torturer him.

SyKiK _R6 no need to insult kid

So you wanna be a sign spinner for Cuco's... let's see if you have what it takes...
spot on, sicario im pretty sure means supervisor
This scene was filmed at Cottonwood Mall in Albuquerque NM. I know because I recognize Cuco’s. Their Carne Asada Fries are bomb asf. 💯
@@m.gchavez5446 Oh damn, that sucks. AT least you got to enjoy it a bit before it closed down. I've never heard of a Twisters before, but that's cool.
The powerful scene at the end with limited dialogue says so much about the film, actors, and direction. When I first watched it, I stood up in the theater saying, that's how you end a film.

I think it was more so that he was sad his friend died for her and wanted to do the right thing by him
@jerome williams She was a POS in the beginning of the movie. In the middle she went through a challenge, and in the end she became a "better" person (in this case just not an asshat anymore)

Bring on sicario 3! Alejandro + Matt definitely make these movies, they were born for these roles!
Brolin is 56 now.... a bit old to keep going on these military missions....
Fucking Mondays.... right?
In my mind he was either about to talk to him into training to become a Sicario. And for the record. The kid was told that if he killed him, he would become a sicario, however he survived the shot to the face. So this whole time his first kill, didn't really count. And he turned into that scared kid in the beginning.
The thing that's going on his mind is "I thought I killed you"
Alejandro: "You Thought"
The kid shot in a cheek on purpose
or "you are dead", reminds me a line in Robocop "we killed you" ...
He lived the last year thinking he's a cold blooded killer, a bad ass, only now to find out he's not and that realization came to him in the worse possible way.
Alejandro: "So did I..."
2:11 Benicio del Toro's acting here was spot on. He went from a disappointed look about what happened to the kid to a scary, intimidating look.
The boy’s acting was superb
He nailed the part where he acted tough and confident, to the part where he knew it was his end.
And finally the look of “you got me, my life is your to control”
Bravo, kiddo
he's training the kid to be a sicario... he doesn't kill him
Nah, he never gives him that look. He tries to look tough until the end, which is why Alejandro rolls his eyes and has to close the door.
1:20 to 1:35 is the perfect example. Everyone is a gangster untill they meet the real shit.
Yeah like in Beyond scared straight, mean kids meeting fiendish people

The fact Matt couldn't hold eye contact with the kid is one of those moments that speaks volumes without a word being spoken.
Straight up imagine staring in the eyes of a kid who seen stuff while being a guy who’s seen stuff as well
Matt started it all by accepting the offer of starting a war in Mexico. He knew he got his friend killed. The girl must've reminded Alejandro of his daughter that was killed and only wanted to honor his last attempt of bringing the girl into protective custody. In the end it seems like Matt was only angry at himself
What was the meaning behind it ?
@@omarsanchez9885 I think that too. But Matt wasnt angry of himself but of beign judged by her telling him "you kidnapped me, then leave us in a turf war and then you rescue me just like that? who are you Matt? are you a soldier or an assassin?"

Isabel Reyes was low key very underrated in this movie. Despite her 1000 yard stare at the end she knows the game now. A teachable moment for her.
The kid didn't want to kill him when he shot him but had no choice to shoot him. But had he not he knew not only himself but they'd no doubt kill him. The look is more of relief and fear. Knowing his life is no longer his but knowing he didn't take one cleans his own conscience. The timing/reactioj/ back music etc is perfect. The look when he's closing the door is magic. Great scene
Pretty sure he has killed more people in that year.
Just seen both films recently. Best two films IV seen in years by miles. Hope to god they do number 3.
I'd probably watch Sicario 3, but depending on who's writing and directing I'm not excited for it.
This is arguably one of the greatest endings of any movies I've ever watched
