@@ChaatNChatWhat's more interesting is that, in one of the interviews, the director of the movie said that when he heard the story, the first thing he noticed was that Subhash, who was an atheist, was seen as a god by the local people for breaking their centuries-old belief about that pit. This is what kept him going while making the entire movie, Subhash's transition from an atheist to a god-like figure to the local people.

You might have not gotten this from the movie , but in the real incident it was a bunch 16 - 17 years old boys , that age plays a much more important role in how everyone behaved and also how they were naive and brave to not lose hope and help , because if they were older like the policemen they would have thought it was hopeless and left him down there thinking he's probably dead and there's no way to save him . When comparatively trained professionals refuse to go down, would a complete novice from your friends group be willing to put their own life at the risk of a very certain death to save you ? He was awarded by the state of Kerala for his bravery after everyone got to know about it . Since they were just a couple of young boys and their parents would not allow them to go on another trip because of this and the amount of anguish it'll bring everyone they decided to keep the incident a secret, but as you see in the movie the small report in a local news paper in Tamil nadu ( were the cave was ) found its way back home and the whole world got to know about it ever since.

Here are some facts and details about the movie:
    1. The entire cave where the protagonist was trapped, including where people were standing, was handmade by the art director. It's a precise replica of the actual location.
    2. The music director created a new instrument to produce the cave music, which enhances the eerie atmosphere for the viewers.
    3. At the beginning, Subhash (who falls into the cave) asks the driver, "What is God?" The driver replies, "God is like a light that falls on us from above," which becomes true for Subhash during his rescue.
    4. Subhash was trapped on the edge of a stone because the belt he took from his brother got knotted to a rock, preventing him from falling further. This detail couldn't be shown due to limitations in lighting and cinematography.
    5. In the real-life story, they had a minor accident on their way home because the driver fell asleep from exhaustion after the ordeal. However, this was excluded from the movie to avoid adding more tragedy and to provide a slightly more uplifting ending for the audience.
The budget of the whole movie was around 20 crores Indian rupees, which is close to just 2.5 million USD!

Now that you finished the movie, I'll let you know some of the facts you wanted answers in your reactions :
    1) Tug of War : it is kind of a cultural thing in Kerala and is performed during our festivals(Onam) that happens once every year. But to put it into context for the boys in this movie, they are part of a sport club and the do perform this professionally as a sport in the local area
    2) The Real-life Manjummel boys are present in the movie : they are the ones these boys play Tug of War and loose to, at the start
    3) In one of the interview of real-life Manjummel boys explained why they didn't tell about the mishap back at home because being 'boys', they knew their parents wont allow them for another trip and therefore lied

One of the police constable said they don't get DEATH CERTIFICATE if they die there inside the cave. It's because if they end up in dying in that cave, they think that even government cannot recover their body from that cave. They already mentioned that previously one minister's son was dead there but couldn't find his remains. That's why, they were scared that without their body not being found after the death, they won't get Death certificate from a Medical professional without identifying the body or without any remains of the body to confirm death.

@@ChaatNChat also the tug of war is a popular tradition during festival times. So much so that there are professional tournaments in Kerala for the same and folks train year round to win it. The "loose adi" that they did at the end is a trick where you suddenly loosen the rope during a contest when the rope is tight, to catch your opponent by surprise and disbalance them. This loose adi was the reason they lost the first tug of war in the movie.

The complexity of situation and look shared between the Ranger, police and the elder was next level. I am talking about when they realise that Subhash is alive down there. Let me put it this way, until that moment they only had to deal with the nuisance of trying to console the mourning boys and bring them to terms with rationality of their friend's certain death. But Subhash was alive and now it was no longer coming to terms with death of a nobody, it was about how to save that life hanging by a thread.. The shear weight of responsibility and the resulting helplessness... Only a few would know how it feels, to be scared of not being able to save someone dying in front of your eyes asking for help knowing there is probably nothing you can do. Suddenly a dead stranger until a few seconds ago became the most important purpose and mission of their lives. I have been through something like this and I could not help but feel a little regret of having to be in that situation. It takes some effort just to convince our subconscious into shaking that regret and resulting shame. To be able to convey this in a few seconds says it all about the effort involved in making this movie.

The yellow jacket guy is the silent unique type of guy in a group. He just jumped to the conclusion like most adults do, as he thought about the worst situation that could have happened and how his friend was gone forever; he felt helpless and couldn't do anything getting frizzed up into the trauma. In the end, he is fighting his trauma and believing, since they confirmed his friend is alive, to do what they can possibly for the best situation.
(like a person if crushed lays dead, but if found a light hope they will do their best to think and make efforts). Again he wasn't useless, just 1 of us who thinks most logically in the inside.. often gets treated as that introverted friend/ psycho friend (becuz they're actions r silent but each action of theirs is after a lot of thoughts and most effective).
