My one gripe with SE4 is how the scope zoom is tied to the rifle, so at the end you have like 3 options of rifles that are actually functional as snipers
8:21 its not random! there’s preset enemies that hold attachments in the levels. Example: the german soldier who does a patrol around the tents on the East side of Fort Rifugio’s starting area. Even Karl mentions “he’s carrying something useful”
@@TWilsonSE no worries, i just 100%’d the game recently with my partner. after playing through the missions multiple times i noticed the same soldier had the attachment i collected already that my partner was collecting
I like the se1 save mechanic. It's a built in difficulty system. It rewards not making mistakes and not taking chances. Thats also the same reason I like that smg's are bad in se2, making mistakes is very punished. You also mentioned that the smg's being good in combat was a good part about se4. But personally I think it made running around and shooting enemies a bit too easy. Running and gunning should always be harder in this style of game IMO.
I have, and have played all of the SE series fro 1 to 4 ; none of 5. Steam would not let me purchase 5 until very recently. In fact, I just started the opening Mission 1 and have 10 of the DLCs downloaded. SE 5 plays a bit slowly for me because of the age of my laptop and myself. I am using the Mint linux OS and have for years. All of my Steam games work just fine on it. Regards
Sniper Elite: Many fond memories of split screen coop on the PS2 and of way to long sessions taking it way to far by Roleplaying it with being set up with the Games manual on various rifle stats and scope calculations next to my pen and pad making notes and some "Rations" aka my snacks.. And obviously I very much did the same thing with Sniper Elite V2. In truth it's become a bit of a tradition for me with all the Sniper Elite games, though I do have to admit that some of them are more suited for it than the others in general playstyle and such.. Sniper Elite 3: Scope Glint was great. It made you really pay attention and be abit more patient. Even more so in the levels where the enemy sniper relocated on his overwatch. Sure it was not that far in distance and it was basicly the same concept as normal soldiers patrol routes, nevertheless it was a much appreciated change of pace and routine. I miss the subtle flash instead of the constant "torch" like the Eye of Sauron or something. Fair enough that in a game like SE5 with the Invasion mode, I do (sort of) get the concept and validity of the "torch".. but I do kind of wish that it was a selectable option. Sniper Elite 5: Now putting aside their choice in stearing much more towards Run & Gun and far to less in being the traditional Sniper, which makes even less sense since they removed Overwatch. What I really don't like is what they did with Tagging objects and enemies.. First, Why remove press Trigger to Mark/Tag? But above all, Why remove the ability to Unmark at all??? The amount of times that I by accident have tagged speakers or something and even though the speakers are destroyed, the tag remains through out the level as a distraction and a eyesore.
SE4 is by far the best, not even close. I wish they would just add more maps for this. Still mad SE5 didn't have leaderboards. That's a huge reason many players went back to 4. People will say that hackers just get to the top anyways. That's true, but they are easily identified as the top players mostly know each other and just ignore them. Plus the level cap in 5 is maxed out after a few hours for campaign and survival. Complete joke.
Hold on mate about sniper elite 3 the upgrades can not be found on random enemys let me explain you how it works The scopes for the base game rifles and the binocol upgrades such as increasing the zoom and the number enemy tags can be found by killing and looting specific enemies on the base game missions of the campain more specificaly each mission of the campain of the base game has one scope rifle and one binocol upgrade But the barrels and the actions and the stocks for the base game rifles can only be gained by leveling up your rank witch you can do by playing many multiplayer matches or by replaying the campain multiple times Keep going with the content twilson i love the channel
only played SE2 and SE4. I really like the stealth of SE4. But SE2 made me feel more like a sniper. The layout and missions were more sniper based. In SE4 I like the stealth but feel guilty, as the opportunity for sniping isnt as prelevant, I end up just using the welrod or silenced sniper within 100M.
SE4 is still the best game in the series, most repayable due to the great Survival Maps. I do like the Campaign and the DLC maps in SE5 the best however, especially the DLC maps. However invasion mode is complete garbage and does nothing but cater to toxic gameplay and the worst types of gamers in general. There is already multiplayer if people want to do that so screwing up the regular campaign with that garbage is tragic. Thankfully we can turn that crap off so we don't have to put up with that that garbage.
IMO one of the worst things in those games is allowing players to dance back and forth in multi-player to avoid being shot. It is completely unrealistic and those players really ruined the fun
I actually dislike the linear levels of sniper elite 2. A lot of times you end up in situations that no sniper should be in, often with several enemies aware of your position and just hammering you with fire. It was very difficult to lose them. I still enjoyed the game very much though. I have just finished sniper elite 3 for the first time. The fact that you didn't pick the relocate system as the best feature is crazy. It's so good to be able to fire a shot and then run away without being spotted, of course the enemies won't find you after one shot. Of course it is imperfect, such as set explosives giving away your position, but it's a ps3 game and 100% could have been improved in sniper elite 4. The weapon upgrade system is pretty trash, but I find the muzzle velocity to really make it difficult to find the range. The different guns have wildly different muzzle velocities and that means if you switch guns you can be 50-100 metres out in the aiming. I really do not enjoy using the hold breath and having the little aim assist diamond, you just destroy everything great and challenging about the game, so not being able to find a consistent range with the rifles is quite annoying. Sniper elite 4 introduced the range finder on the scopes which, as afore mentioned, for someone who doesn't want to hold breath and aim assist, is wonderful. You can much more easily take very long shots because you don't have to put the crosshairs way above the victims head, it's calculated, you know that if your target is 110m away then you can click the range finder to 100m and just adjust for the 10m and wind. Tough to find something to dislike about SE4, but having now played SE3 I am unhappy they took out the relocate system, especially as it would suit the more open maps. I have not played SE5 and that's partly because I saw a review that said the sniping had been simplified again to the point that you don't even need to think, it just tells you where to shoot, and if that's true then that's simply terrible. Also the invader system they've stolen from dark souls is horrendous, people online are straight up cancerous and to allow people to just come in and ruin your game just sounds like the worst thing you could ever do.
I personally liked sniper elite 5's big levels And regarding the axis invasion stuff I turn that off I prefer playing the games story without getting invaded every two seconds It's kinda like the first dying light I don't feel like putting on the night hunter invasion while I'm in the middle of the story And even if I'm done with said story I still choose to keep it off When I think of sniper elite I think of a single player experience I don't feel like getting invaded by sweats who know every little thing about the game Nor do I want to play co-op with anyone I rely on myself in these types of games
I was so disappointed there wasn't a proper japaneae faction in 5, i was convinced when i saw the type 100 and the Japanese flag, there'd be a pacific map or something.
You mention SE 5 drives you more to smgs because of short ranges; not with the De Lisle. Sniping is even more fun than in SE 4. I think Rebellion should honor the actual women who were there. 16:38 Yeah. I’m gonna stop you right there about SE5 dlc missions having the best map design. Most of these maps are just downright terrible for invasions due to the lack of multiple exfil points and most of the main objectives taking place at a certain high point on the map, which basically incentivizes camping between the players. Conquer was one of these examples of bad map design as little the entire mission can be completed by just climbing up to the exfil point. The only “good” dlc map design that comes to mind is Rough Landing as that is the one mission that cannot be cheesed or exploited in both campaign and invasions.

I would love to see a reranking of the weapons in SE 4!!
as far as im concerned se4 is the best se game because of the unbelievably good map design and the pvp just feels so smooth somehow
Yeah and the setting in that one is also my favorite and we don’t see it very often in games
One thing SE4 has over the others is the sound of an unsuppressed rifle going into a bullet cam, that *Crack* was super satisfying.

Interesting to hear about all the games in the series as someone who has only played one of them.
My biggest issue with sniper elite 5 is that the level cap is stuck at 40
When sniper elite 4 had 250 levels to grind through

SE5 has the best gunplay out of all the SE games. Sniper in SE5 feels so much smoother than SE4 arguably.
Is it worth going back to V2 and III if I have already played and enjoyed IV and V or will they feel like too much of a backward step by comparison?
