I’m furious. There was just no reason to kill Logan. All the years the fans (not to mention Kickstarter $$) have invested in the show, and they pull this cheap stunt? It feels like a betrayal. If they wanted to lowlight the relationship they could have just had Logan sent off for extended duty. I was thrilled with this new season. It was hitting all the right notes, but now I just have a bad taste in my mouth.
I feel like the whole reason they made the movie, which fans paid for, was to give V and Logan their happy ending. Then the show comes back and does this? My favorite parts of the show were when V and Logan were happy together.
@@nippicrey3796 It's called growth. I've had a husband for eight years and I'm the underdog because of chronic illness. There we go. There's one way they could have enriched the show. Show her struggling with an illness while still trying to work and catch the bad guys. Show what a military wife goes through. They aren't "just waiting" for their man to return. They do a lot of good work, with military families, with their children, with veterans, etc. It could have taken the show into so many different avenues that were still Veronica Mars. Or how about having a great show without her being the underdog? That's growth, too. My life has changed in so many ways since I was a teenager, but getting married doesn't automatically make me not an underdog and life doesn't also have to be about people being an underdog to be powerful. We can find power through many different avenues. I really think they missed a great opportunity with having Veronica be FBI. She could be an underdog in every show and still have a loving husband to come home to when he's not on missions. And sometimes, they could have teamed up when an FBI case crossed over into a military case. Ugh, the things they missed! Writing has to grow and evolve. You can't rehash the same old Veronica.
@@marydidyouknow5826 I really do have to agree with you. I don’t see Veronica “growing” if they keep her as the spunky underdog. Growth CAN come from actually being happy. And she can still be cynical and be happy at the same time. I’m watching the movie now ( again ) as I’ve started reading the books RT wrote and I wanted to see the chemistry between Logan and Veronica on screen ( good God it’s steamy). And just knowing they kill off Logan has me so sad.
The most ridiculous explanation goes to Rob Thomas saying he wants less "teenage drama", yet he doesn't allow the lead character get married and have a family life next to her PI work.
@@iamsultana The most ridiculous explanation still goes to writers of GoT who said that "Daenerys forgot about the Golden Company fleet", but I know what you mean. xD
@@iamsultana It's double ridiculous bc this time Logan was the more mature one in the relationship, and V was creating that teenage drama. And it was her cutting him off and pulling him back again. So instead of making V an adult Thomas decides to kill off Logan. What a bullshit.
@@ina8099 Yeah, Rob Thomas should not be in the same universe as the GoT writers in terms of criticism, but comparisons can be made - ouch. RT will never be the guy who had 10+ years to tell a story and an almost *unlimited* budget, and he'd never refuse criticism or questions by lashing out at viewers, so there's that. But still, not a great long-term plan and fans are too smart to need to be hit with a 2x4 to feel she's an underdog. The logic just isn't there.
This is bs. It’s not about teenage drama. You outgrow the teenage drama by them getting married. It’s not about her being the underdog, she doesn’t need to lose more people in her life, she is always an underdog. This is shock value for shock value and I really expected more from Rob Thomas.
I wasn't even angry at first, just incredibly sad, but hearing Rob's justification just annoyed the hell out of me. His argument wasn't compelling at all.
I never watched the revival and I definitely won’t now. I was pretty convinced that he was still alive until I saw the apology video from the cast. Jason was so upset that he just sat there and never even looked at the camera. I feel so bad for him cause he (and Logan) deserved a lot better than what they got.
I think what happened is that Logan's character grew to be a stable and a compassionate human being who had his shit together while Veronica was still the same! So, Rob Thomas did not know what to do with the character that had the most compelling arch and who breathed life to the show. So, he killed him off! Bye bye VM. I'm done with the show.
This was my thinking too. He actually evolved and grew while Veronica was very much the same person we met in the pilot. The little character growth she had was encouraged and supported by Logan and Wallace. One was killed off in some of the worst writing ever and the other was written as a side note that Veronica seemed to avoid spending time with. The relationships were the best part of this show and the only one Rob Thomas didn’t absolutely destroy in season four was the one with her father. Logan was my favourite character. I don’t want to watch without him.
As I watched S4 I kept thinking how much I loved who Logan had become - still so witty and fun, so protectively sweet but just a really great person who could be his own lead in Navy intelligence role type show. I also kept thinking that Veronica was kind of a jerk to Logan so much I wanted LOGAN to call the wedding off since I was so excited Logan was dealing with his awful parenting issues, and she was so selfish. VM got more unlikable, Logan was immensely likable. And Leo, her sex dream told me she wanted someone who wasn't her equal. So, I kind of agree
@@NarciaLily Look, what matters are ratings. If Hulu decides to finance the 5th season, so be it. But I'm sure the ratings will plummet if it turns out that Logan is really, truly dead. It's just not going to be interesting or entertaining.
I'm very positive about the show, so where's my check? I thought I was getting a check! News flash: asserting that people who were positive about the show were paid to say so is not evidence. Maybe it hasn't occurred to you that many people like it for its mystery format and not for its far less-prevalent romantic aspects. I love this show, but dear god, I hate its fans.
Why can't a strong female character just have a healthy relationship? It's not feminist at all to say that you have to be single to be a relatable/strong/badass detective. They could have sent Logan away for extended periods of time to get the underdog effect. This explanation only makes sense in Thomas' brain. Logan was my favorite character since the beginning, and there's no VM without him. Not for me, anyway.
Right?? Why is it that so many male protagonists can "get the girl" while being badass superheroes but women usually have to have some immense personal sacrifice (in the name of "trauma" or some other lazy-writing BS) because god forbid they actually have the time management to juggle a partner AND a career? Why can't she be a well-educated, successful woman with a family????
Right?! Or working through a relationship like in real life. Not cheating but just life hardships mixed with monotony. I mean they were bound to fight. So many people can’t write relationships they think we need people to suffer to keep us entertained 🤦♀️
I would have had him presumed KIA in which point If they wanted they would have the option of having him play a part in future episodes while also giving veronica a fresh start if needed.
Me too :( VM is not VM without Logan! Give VM her inspiration back! This is like Emily in Revenge Season 3 when killed off Aiden! 'cause Jack was like Duncan.
He died in a bomb blast. Bringing him back would have to involve 1. Science fiction, 2. Magic, or 3. Pull a "Dallas" and have the fourth season all be a dream, all of which would be utterly idiotic things to do. So, fans don't care if the show makes sense going forward as long as they get some particular romantic pairing?
Killing him killed the show for me. So good luck to them, but I'm out. I'm devastated because I've been here from the very beginning. I donated to the Kickstarter campaign. I invested, not just for Veronica alone, but for other characters like Logan who actually was my favourite character. So I just feel honestly so disappointed that 15 years as a fan has gotten me here. It feels like it was all for nothing, and I've never felt more disappointed in a show in my life.
same, and i saw it happening in slow motion. saw the text and thought it was odd and I knew they were going to kill him off. at that point i stopped watching. it went from semi-plausible to being just a joke. if he is dead for real, then they have lost this fan as well.
the fact that rob still thinks he's getting a s5 after this ajsjdufk that's what's funny. NO. the fact that they just killed logan off for shock value and to get veronica even more depressed. as if she's not the strongest character of all time already. she didn't need another tragedy to show her toughness. only way the marshmallows want another season is if they bring Logan back. (which is possible since we never saw a body, at the time of the explosion there was a car approaching. he could've been easily kidnapped or something since he works in the army idk) the fact is it's possible. so if they want a s5 THATS THE ONLY WAY. if not. keep it. since both veronica and Logan were the heart of the show. if we were only watching for the cases we would watch csi or something. we watched for the storylines but mostly because of the chemistry of those two.
Totally agreed. He got so much screen time totally separate from Veronica in the original series he was his own character that I completely loved with or without her. This just felt like a huge injustice to his character. Especially because he was barely in the 4th season. He had no storyline outside of Veronica and very little personality. So disappointing for a complex and witty character
I CANNOT DEAL WITH THIS!!!! Logan is my favorite character and killing him is unacceptable!!! I cried for like an hour straight. Damn you Rob... DAMN YOU!!!!!!
The end left, a sad tragic, taste in my mouth; I love Veronica Mars, even before Logan became her most epic and intense love, of her life, but with Logan she was complete. They were not, a teenage romance anymore, they stopped being that, when they got together in the movie, and committed to each other, before he left for 180 days. Now go ahead 5 years, to the new season; they are still going strong, they live together, they have a dog together and they're happy. They've been steady on, as couple for 5 years, they are Aunt and Uncle, to Wallace's kid and they are a family, with Keith her father as, daughter and son in law, in name if not legally yet; but Logan wants, to marry Veronica, she says no at first, but then has a moment, of clarity and changes, her mind and says yes. So, it's an adult relationship, no on again, off again; its a mature, stable marriage and next chapter, now tragically cut short, and left unfulfilled. I get wanting, to make Veronica stronger; but she was strong, on her own, but also with Logan. A person can, have both love and strength, and be a good P.I without killing off her true love, that's just being short sighted, all human life is a balance; most people can do it, without heart breaking sacrifice, or loss. Sometimes, it depends on the situation😭
Agreed. But Rob Thomas wants to be a cliche. He wants the bitter bitchy loner female lead with a vengeance. So boring and overdone. I’ll pass if he even attempts at a season 5. I didn’t like her at all in S4 so I can only imagine how much more annoying she’ll become going forward.
Is that a joke? He's not a bomb sniffing dog. Lmao. He wasn't even a bomb specialist. Even if he was, he would have had no reason at all to suspect a bomb in the car. Military training or not.
Couldn't wait to watch but now they could have been better as a team now u killed him off no baby no nothing I would have killed off her dad and Logan been with her now that a story it dont matter how long your together high school or what people marry young and grow old together and face it veronica will always have her nose in everything anyway losing her dad would made her feel the same way but she had Logan by her side.
Me too my bf just looked at me like wtf are you really crying over this show.. I was like a pissed cry too. I was yelling wtf they can't kill him wtf.. Lol
I think Piz said it best in the movie, "It [Neptune] really IS on a Hellmouth." And Rob Thomas is Satan. I refuse to believe Logan is gone for good. Let's just "Dallas" that whole thing, and Veronica wakes up one day to find he's not dead, but taking a shower.
Absolutely! He was my favorite character and I LoVed them so much. I can’t accept this and I won’t continue watching if there is even another season without Logan alive in it somewhere.
I'm done too. Their relationship made the show. There were so many other angles the story could have taken and still been strong. You bet and you lost, Rob. I think I would consider changing this one.
The new season was sooo good up until the ending !! Killing Logan made me sooo mad !!! I thought they were about to show a glimpse of their future together with kids and everything but no they killed him and he didnt even get his honey moon ! :( I did not like the ending at all !
Rob Thomas could've shed the teenage drama without killing off the best part of the show. Boo, Rob Thomas! Who wants to watch Veronica without Logan? I will pass.
Just finished season 4. Loved it all until the last part where they killed him off. Come on! Really. I love Logan and can’t believe they killed him off. I love the show but I don’t think I can bring myself to watch it if there’s another season. I don’t understand why they did that.
Writer cop out that they can't write a script for a woman to be strong without tragedy. Strong with a strong male character. Their relationship would always have fire if the writers had the balls
That explanation that they gave him is just a no. EHATBIS WRONG WITH PORTARYING HAPPY WOMEN IN TV. IT WAS UNNECESSARY TO MAKE HER SUFFER THAT MUCH. I CANNOT UNDERSTAND HOW THE CREATOR OF THE SHOW THOUGHT THAT WOULD MAKE US LIKE VERONICA MARS MORE. HE HAS GOT TO BE KIDDING!!!
Veronica can still be cynical with what she gets involved in, the mysteries, murders, surprises without killing Logan. His mom's body never showed up; what not work that into the next season? Besides, it IS the fans that have kept Veronica Mars alive to bring back, Robby.
part of the reason why i love this show its because of Logan and Veronica thats not fair for their fans to end it like that way . I hope Rob will put Logan back Jason did really a great job to Logan"s character it felt so real . So sad i dont think i can watch next season if there is another one its not the same anymore
I'm beyond gutted and this is absolutely heartbreaking to watch Jason in almost in tears! If he wanted to leave I could respect it, but it's obvious that's not the case. Logan deserved better after all his character has been through and actually managed to come out the other side stronger only to have this be his end! Jason is beyond amazing bringing what could've been a stereotypical role and hated character into someone you wanted to root for, and always bringing so much depth and wit to it. By far the most well-developed character in the whole VM universe imo. What's worse is treating like some throwaway love interest when he was always more than that. What a way to treat one of the lead actors who has only added more layers to this show than to just throw him away 12 fucking years later!! I loved the revival, but that excitement almost feels destroyed by those last 10minutes. It was such a quick, sloppy, and completely insensitive way to kill off a beloved character. Skipping a year later and not letting us come to terms or grieve was another hard blow. If they wanted to kill him off so badly why go about this way? I will never get over this choice and never have I felt so betrayed by one of my favorite TV show creators. I know my opinion is just that but after so many years this show feels a part of me and I rewatch it every year, and now it won't ever be the same. I'm definitely 3days later still feeling immense grief over one of my favorite shows and tv character. I'm still hoping Rob realize he's made a mistake and tries to rectify it, but I can't see it happening :'( in the end it's just fiction but damn I never saw this coming after all these years!!
IF ROB WANTED TO SHED THE TEENAGE DRAMA HE SHOULDVE HAD HER JUST SOLVE LOGANS CASE AND GO BACK TO PIZ IN THE MOVIE!!! KILLING LOGAN WAS NOT THE WAY! ROB HAD VERONICA GROW UP LEAVE NEPTUNE AND BECOME THE PERSON SHE AND HER FATHER WANTED HER TO BE! BUT HE BROUGHT HER BACK TO NEPTUNE AND HAD HER LEAVE HER LIFE IN THAT MOVIE ONLY TO BE HALF THE VERONICA THAT SHE ALREADY WAS! After binge watching the show and seeing the 4th season Veronica wasn’t even that good, 1st and 2nd season Veronica would never let a pizza delivery boy outsmart her.
I've never been so disappointed by a show. Really? After a decade? After the Kickstarter campaign for the movie? I mean I liked the new season, until the last 10 minutes to ruin the whole thing. Rob says he want a single Veronica for the next seasons. Well, congratulations you got one. But I don't think any of the viewers wants that, not to mention the hard core fans. I certainly don't know how the show could continue from this. And I don't know that I will watch it...
VM was THE teen drama for me. I watched it when I was 17, so I really aspired to be somewhat similar to Veronica. Now years later, the story takes such a cheap, lazy, terrible and senseless turn that I'm sorry to say but I won't be coming back for more. Rob is the creator so he can do what he wants but I have the right to say - good luck and goodbye.
If the writers back off due to angriness (is this the correct word? sorry, English is not my native language) of the fans, I think the only acceptable way would be that the last 10 minutes of the episode is Veronica's imagination, when she imagine what would her life without Logan. That's just an assumption and according to the interviews I think it won't happen.
@@-fatal- They never showed the body nor the funeral so they definitely have lots of options. Say the explosion was so intense that it would have scattered Logan into pieces. So everyone assumes he is dead. But Veronica starts getting clues that something else happened that day. She investigates and the series ends with her finding Logan who had been kidnapped by the Mexican cartel just moments before the explosion went off. Obviously, this won't happen. But if Rob wanted, he can definitely find a way to bring Logan back.
Haven't even been able to watch this new season so I think it is quite messed up to be posting this already... If Logan is seriously going to die for real and not make some surprise come back next season I will completely ditch this show. Rob really messed up by killing off Logan. There was no more on and off drama between them! They got married apparently for christs sake. They ARE endgame and I have waited nearly a decade of my young adult life to FINALLY see them come back and end up together. I wish you hadn't even made this new season. ATLEAST with just season the movie I could just go on imagining their love and future family. NOW everything is totally F'D up. PLEASE fix this. PLEASE bring him back. You can even see that Jason didn't want Logan to die. It feels like this was sprung last minute to him just before shooting that episode or even that scene. Which is totally screwed up to him and to Kirsten bell. I cannot imagine Veronica without Logan. I am devastated...I have never been so devastated from a television show before.
@@mrname4899 It was lazy. Shock value bs and that was it. Don't pretend it was smart or logical by Rob. It wasn't. He knew this hence why he's avoiding Twitter etc and said what he said in his interviews. The guy did it on purpose and it's moronic. Again lazy. And undoes the amazing work he already built. Veronica wouldn't have tucked her tail between her damn legs after Logan's death, she'd definitely not leave Neptune. It just isn't feeling like even adult VM it feels like a shallow shell of what was a great character. /That's/ the point of people's annoyance.
I mean... if you hadn't watched the new season yet then why did you watch the video? It's your own fault if it got spoiled for you. The title just said it was his reaction to Logan's fate. Fate doesn't mean death. It could have meant anything.
You know, me too. The way the ending was executed didn't make me emotional at all, it made me upset and angry. If that's the reaction Rob was hoping for, congrats to him, he got it.
if rob thomas thinks anyones going to want another season after this, he needs to think again. they killed logan off for absolutely no reason other than shock value and its just lazy writing point blank period. such a waste..
I've been a fan since the start and my ass is going to be firmly planted in front of my TV for season 5. I adore Logan, but as he touched on in this video, there really isn't much left they can do with him. His death wasn't for shock value. His death serves to setup the rest of the series. This season of Veronica Mars is the closest we've ever been to Rob Thomas' original vision for the show. I can't wait to see where we end up next.
@@ivancorsoiv5792 There was a lot they could do with him. The last 20 minutes of this season was just bad writing and a typical plot just for shock value, it takes away from what made the show unique
I'm going to watch. I love Veronica as a character and this world too much not to. I loved Logan and his relationship with Veronica, too, but him being gone isn't a dealbreaker for me. And let's remember, Logan and Veronica didn't have to exist in the first place. It's because of Rob that they did. So I think people need to be at least somewhat thankful that they even had LoVe in the first place - and that they didn't just break Logan and Veronica up. They chose each other, for life, in the end.
As a fan who began watching VM at age 16 and has followed the actors closely for the last 15 years...supporting the kickstarter, read both novels, watched Ryan's two spinoffs...I am devastated! Yes, VM is noir and touches on a number of controversial topics, but it is ALSO a love story. Regardless of the original intentions Rob had; the characters and thus the story evolved further. The idea that V needs to be beaten down further in order to continue the noir storyline and shed the teen drama is BS. In the first novel V finally finds a place of acceptance with her mother and in the second Keith comes to terms with the path V has chosen while beginning a relationship of inclusion with L. So now after 15 years what was the point?? V's major character default is pretending she doesn't need anyone that she can go it alone even when those closest to her can see right through it. L had his own separate storyline separate from his connection to V; his father's abusive and Lilly's murder, his mother's abandonment through her suicide, his unhealthy relationship with T, his betrayal of his long lost brother, etc. Then after tremendous growth (most of which we don't hear about in detail until the second novel) L becomes one of the most emotional stability characters in V's life. Which she needs; I think it is fair to say that her growth is one of the most stagnant of all the characters. So again after 15 years what's the point?? Who wants to keep watching a show where the characters keep doing the same thing; where they make the same mistakes and never evolve to face new challenges? I agree with many fans here that this is just lazy writing. Lastly, as a married mother of two I was a bit offended when Rob said in interview that V being married and having a husband and kids at home while being able to expand further than Neptune to solve crimes just doesn't work! Why?? A 30+ strong, independent women fighting for justice while facing systemic opposition and being a mother and a wife couldn't be further from the "teen drama".
Exactly. Rob has stated in older interviews that V and L were never going to happen romantically as part of his original storyline, but Kristen and Jason had such great chemistry that they decided to go in that direction. And I feel as a writer that should be the goal; for your characters to take on a life of it's own.
Krista Frye Yes! And they as a couple are the heart of the show people like to see the romance aspect of these types of shows too. People who don’t even necessarily like L&V together know they’re the heart and the only ones that balance each other out.
I am SO upset. Honestly, Rob Thomas ruined my all-time favourite show. I hold Veronica Mars close to my heart and was truly rooting for her and Logan in this new chapter of theirs. Logan most of all, deserved much more than what he was given. How are you going to kill off this character who has truly had the biggest character arc during the shows run? How is his death beneficial to Veronica or the show in any way? Rob completely lost sight of what the show is, or should I say what the show was. Both Veronica and Logan have endured incredible hardships in their lives and for Rob to say Veronica must be the 'underdog' once more is absurd. Logan to many, to me, is why this show quickly became one of my favourites. Veronica Mars lost much more than a lead character- it lost the heart of the show and many of its fans. Simply put, should Veronica Mars return, I will not be watching. My heart is broken.
I lost sleep over Logan’s death, I was like they just got married wth!!! I saw it coming though with that bag 😭 very upset with their choice to kill off Logan 🤬
I finished the season at 5:45 am and was sobbing so hard that I didn't fall asleep til 6:30 and then I woke up at like noon and my first thought was "NO. LOGAN." and I couldn't fall back asleep again. I grieved him harder than I've ever grieved a fictional character and now I'm just angry about the reasoning behind it.
Lostlover and Narcia I agree with both of you, this was the most upsetting to me regarding a person on A show, it hit me harder then I thought it would. I honestly wish they kept their love story going into having children, I loved them together ❤️💔
Am hoping that this is a creative curveball that ultimately results in Logan returning. Like many I feel that there is no show without Logan. Really hope Rob is getting the message on that one.
I'm hoping if there is another season it'll be like how Veronica thought her dad was blown up in season 2... if not then I'll be forever disappointed and heartbroken. #LoVe
Ok, I’m actually kind of glad I saw this spoiler. I was so excited for the new season but now I won’t bother watching it. And i think they really changed the video! In the original Jason was almost crying and I think he said something about feeling like he’d been kicked out of the VM family. Broke my heart.
Killing Logan has no logic! You could understand if the story of the season and the drama go for that way, like a some save Veronica's life or some reason but this just fells like: "Veronica has to be sad, never be happy or never going something well with she. She has to be martyr". After all the unsoportables moments from Veronica with Logan like when she refused to go with Login to the therapist, some stupid things that she did, after all that she finally realice how much love Logan and accept married with him... They can't be happy because she has to be sad! Really, one of the worst decisions in TV.
@@iamsultana Yeah I goofed. Just a few days later and I thought I could watch a harmless Veronica Mars Quotes video and not have something like this recommended. The title almost gives it away and I was wrong for clicking the bait. Lol
Lovely man. I wish this season wasn't made and I sure won't be watching the next one. To be honest I'm not sure if it will even happen looking at 99% fan's reactions. You killed the show.
Please bring back Logan alive for the new season of Veronica Mars! The ending is not acceptable! It's too dramatic like in a soap opera! Logan should be involved more in solving crimes together with Veronica!
They did Logan dirty. Girlfriend murdered, physically abused by father, mother commits suicide, new girlfriend accuses him of rape and of murdering old girlfriend, who he knows was sleeping around with other guys, finds out his dad murdered his gf, his dad being one of the guys she was sleeping with, left by new girlfriend because he’s having a hard time dealing with everything and that’s all pretty much in the first season! He finally gets his happy ending, fourteen years later and then they murder him too!
I haven't watched the season 4 yet but I'm really happy that I saw this interview and comments. Now I am prepared. Damn! Rob how can you do it to LoVe?
I was watching for Logan and the relationship development. His incredible turnaround was inspirational and it would have been amazing to watch the dance he and Veronica would do together each making the other better, sharpening each other physically, emotionally, professionally. There is SO MUCH to explore there in a procedural context and it is hardly ever explored. I would have thought this writer was up to the challenge to do that and still stay true to personality and types but obviously he is a coward and sold out to what has worked for other shows in the past. Maybe that was the only way to receive further funding from HULU. Who knows, but I for one won't be watching. And if the other comments I read are any indication, he cut off his nose to spite his face. Sad, very sad!
Happiness is not fiction, it doesn't dictate a teenage drama! Little girls look up to Veronica Mars and want to be her I know I did, but if what you're saying is that to have love and to be happy is not for Veronica Mars then I would kindly like to withdraw my current and childhood self from the running. Happiness is not fiction, it's real and it doesn't make people weak, it doesn't make Veronica weak! Don't even get me started on the moral implications of killing a good man who turned his life around in a world full of hate and destruction.
I just finished episode 8... I feel devastated, betrayed... I have been watching this show since I was 7, I'm 20 now, this has always been my favorite show and Logan was my favorite character and now you are telling m he's dead ? Like seriously ? And they serve that bullshit excuse about veronica being the underdog ? I have no words. I have always been there for the show when they needed it and they thank me, thank all of us with killing one of the best character ? Logan has the greatest character development i have seen on TV and they think it's a good idea to kill him ? I am so pissed right now, they better make this right.
This was actually the stupidest thing for Rob to do and the dumbest most offensive reason for it. If you don’t want the on again off again couple drama like a teenage show then have the couple be the grown ups they are and stay together and fight adult battles. Nobody wants to watch a depressing Veronica who never gets over trauma. They want the Veronica they know and love who fights for herself and the people she loves because that’s what inspires us as viewers.
Rob says that he wants to shed the "teenage drama" - but solving personal issues when you're married and learning to deal with them is NOT teenage drama. That's actual adulthood. Rob wanted to reset the show and use Logan's death to affect Veronica the same way Lilly's death affected Veronica - well you can do that by killing Keith. Honestly, it would have made more sense to kill Keith. That would have LEGITIMATELY given Veronica a REALISTIC reason to leave Neptune AND HIT THE ROAD WITH LOGAN!!! He's already always traveling anyway with his job, it wouldn't have mattered if they hit the road together. Watching LoVe resolve their issues while married (because let's face it, they have many issues - Veronica is still selfish, Logan goes to therapy) that's the real way to shed the teenage drama. Rob messed up. He's trying to create "a true mystery show", but he needs to understand that the fans of VM don't want that. He should have ended Veronica Mars right before Logan's death, and written a new goddamn show. If he likes the Veronica Mars world he created, write a spin off. DON'T RUIN IT LIKE THIS.
He peaked in season 4 and the movie. He become the Veronica in this season , he was the mature one and the voice of reason in season 4. Which was odd because she was always the mature one on the show. But it was much different in season 4. I kind of understand why he was wrote off, still heart broken about his death. But I may understand why it was done. You can only be as good as your last challenge. But Veronica life is going to be changed no matter what. I know we have seen her broken, but now she crumpled. Not many people come back the same after they have last there loved one.
"Sometimes suffering is just suffering. It doesn't make you stronger. It doesn't build character. It only hurts." --Kate Jacobs Blow your excuses out your ass, Rob Thomas; this decision sucked the soul out of your entire creation. It didn't strengthen anything, it just hurt.
Rob ruined everything! I don't think I can watch this again. I waited all this time just to be disappointed. If they are smart they will re-do that last episode and fix the ending. One of the major reasons for watching this was so that we could ride the LoVe Roller coaster. Start a bring back Logan Page before the next season and hope they fix it. There are so many other ways to show Veronica AND Logan's maturity as adults. They actually did a great job showing that in this season until they KILLED Logan. Everything was fine I was invested and was already wondering about season 5 and now I couldn't care less if it keeps going or not. If Logan isn't in it I don't want to watch it.
Fuck this. He doesn't deserve this treatment. Jason, I wish you good career and life after this. May your career soar and you will get great roles in the future.
If he wants to kill the teen drama, maybe he should have helped her learn to be there for the people who love her... like her husband. Huh. Being a loving and compassionate person didn't interest the writers?
I hate EVERYTHING about this storyline and this fate for Logan. Whhhhy? Couldn’t he get to live out his life after doing so much work to become a better person? Why couldn’t we get to see that kind of example in a man?!? Feel so betrayed after riding for this show all these years. This was a BIG mistake, HUGE!! And I’m done with the show without Logan. Sorry I don’t care about Veronica’s “ark” after this. #LoganDeservesBetter As far as I’m concerned, there is no more #VeronicaMars without Logan. 👋🏾
I am so utterly disappointed that I cannot deal with the name Rob Thomas. I swear all the half assed excuses he's spewing out & having told are not legitimate reasons! I mean come on! Logan was the *only* character not stuck in the HS mode. He's the only one who actually showed some growth (well also Wallace, but Wallace is Wallace), so don't give me that she needs to move on from that HS life BS.
So Rob's reasoning for killing off Logan (one of the most beloved characters in the show, the most interesting character in the show besides Veronica, and the character that has the most intriguing and poignant relationship with Veronica) was because he wanted Veronica to live an independent life and stop the "teenage drama on again off again" aspect of the show?! Hey, Rob. You do realize that you can do that without killing off a character that the fans have loved for 15 years. A character whose importance in the show is so large to the point where it couldn't function without him. You could have Veronica still be a detective while having a happy marriage with Logan. They can have real life adult problems and work through them like a real married couple. Are you so unconfident in your writing abilities to the point where you don't think you have the ability to portray a happied married couple living their lives? God, this was so bad and hacky that it actually made me sick for a few days. You can't do this to the fans that had stood by you, given you millions of dollars for a movie, and waited so long for this story to continue. Rob Thomas, screw you. Either you fix this in the future or you just lost a fan. You just lost many fans during this week alone.
They killed a part of me when Logan died. The last ten mins killed season 4 for me. I think I'm just going to watch season 1-3 and forget that season 4 exists...
The ending disappointed me so much when the show ended and LoVe wasn’t together that made me mad then we get the movie and she’s been dating Piz during that time and then we finally get another season and they’re happy and together and finally get married for him to die WTF I won’t be able to watch earlier seasons the same or any future seasons if they do get one the ending ruined the show for me
Logan not only became my favourite character from the show, but he became my favourite character of all time. I cannot they killed him off in such a final way. My Veronica Mars journey ends here. I’m sorry.
NOPE. NO FRIGGIN WAY. I am so pissed. I understand that they have to have a catalyst for next season and Veronica being Veronica, but KILLING Logan. I'm just pissed. The one small thread I'm hanging onto is the rule of television. If you don't see the body ... I'm hoping Veronica is hiding Logan somewhere. I'll just hang on to that dream till season 5.
Logan deserved better. It was a good revival and I was so happy about it and then so last 10 minutes ruined everything.
totally agree with you
Exactly why bring it back to kill him. Shouldn't left this with the movie. Now they ruined this show.
LoVe(Logan & Veronica)is the only reason for me to watch the show. now I'm done with this sh*t.
If there was ever going to be a 5th seasons, there is no way i'm watching it. They ruined the whole thing for me.
100000% facts.
That's what I hate the most, the fact that, if you take out the last 10 minutes, the overall season 4 is excellent, a solid 10.
No Logan, no show
I feel like the whole reason they made the movie, which fans paid for, was to give V and Logan their happy ending.
How does having her husband die make Veronica less cynical? I'm really disappointed by Rob Thomas,
The most ridiculous explanation goes to Rob Thomas saying he wants less "teenage drama", yet he doesn't allow the lead character get married and have a family life next to her PI work.
I think Logan went undercover and will be back later... Hoping!!
Right!!! That explanation made no sense. There is nothing wrong with veronica being happy after everything she has been through!
THIS X 100000000. They fixed the on/off again aspect through the marriage, the death actual undoes that.
I totally agree!!!!
I wasn't even angry at first, just incredibly sad, but hearing Rob's justification just annoyed the hell out of me. His argument wasn't compelling at all.
Project Alice what was rob’s argument
I never watched the revival and I definitely won’t now. I was pretty convinced that he was still alive until I saw the apology video from the cast. Jason was so upset that he just sat there and never even looked at the camera. I feel so bad for him cause he (and Logan) deserved a lot better than what they got.
Can you put the link of that video you're talking about please?
Yes please link the apology video
Kalyn OByrne I did..it’s the link above 😁
addictedtofandoms where’s the link, sorry I’m slow 😩
Valerie Espinoza I linked it in my first reply..
Ovz D Amen!
@@calliestephen agreed. Pretty sure Rob would make Veronica an FBI or CIA agent and have a rebound with Leo.
Exactly this. As Leo phrases it, Logan is pretty chill.
Guys, we have to be louder than ever. Let them know that we are cussing mad about this unnecessary turn of events!!!! BRING LOGAN BACK.
@@NarciaLily I agree, something felt off in the press tour, she appeared rather cocky.
@@NarciaLily Look, what matters are ratings. If Hulu decides to finance the 5th season, so be it. But I'm sure the ratings will plummet if it turns out that Logan is really, truly dead. It's just not going to be interesting or entertaining.
I guess they thought they dont need the Logan/Veronica fans anymore, now that Kristen is a big star through Frozen.
Still not accepting this!!!! NO NO NO NO 😡😡😡😡😡 They were supposed to be endgame smh
If it gets season 5 greenlit, I'm good.
No Logan no watching
me either it made me so mad
Iron Man dies in Endgame, you know.
@@nicolajohnson1887 Agreed!
Me too :( VM is not VM without Logan! Give VM her inspiration back! This is like Emily in Revenge Season 3 when killed off Aiden! 'cause Jack was like Duncan.
Ill come back when Logan comes back..
Same
Ditto.
PREACH!!!!
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks i mean they can just make a little scene in veronicas dream where they are a family. Personally i would be satisfied with that
Killing him killed the show for me.
Well said
Michelle Sheehan well said
Heard! My sentiments exactly!
Right... It's almost like they want a 5th season to fail. If it even happens in the first place.
the fact that rob still thinks he's getting a s5 after this ajsjdufk that's what's funny. NO. the fact that they just killed logan off for shock value and to get veronica even more depressed. as if she's not the strongest character of all time already. she didn't need another tragedy to show her toughness. only way the marshmallows want another season is if they bring Logan back.
Exactly!!
Totally agreed. He got so much screen time totally separate from Veronica in the original series he was his own character that I completely loved with or without her. This just felt like a huge injustice to his character. Especially because he was barely in the 4th season. He had no storyline outside of Veronica and very little personality. So disappointing for a complex and witty character
he basicly killed the show with this move. dumbass move
Well said !!
I CANNOT DEAL WITH THIS!!!!
Logan is my favorite character and killing him is unacceptable!!!
I cried for like an hour straight.
Damn you Rob... DAMN YOU!!!!!!
It's a TV show. People really need to get a sense of perspective.
Deanna Davis I couldn’t have said it better.
Come on writers, why you have to do that? Logan with years in military training should’ve sense a bomb presence in the car. I demand a rewrite.
Hahahahaha it should be slap on Rob Thomas face.
Is that a joke? He's not a bomb sniffing dog. Lmao. He wasn't even a bomb specialist. Even if he was, he would have had no reason at all to suspect a bomb in the car. Military training or not.
I'm just not going to accept this! Nope, no, just can't!! In the beginning, he said, ”I think he's dead, ” so I'm just going to hold on to that lol.
Tierra Bell yeah he could be in coma
NO LOGAN NO SHOW
PERIODT
I’m so heartbroken 😭 about this. Their love story was epic and I was so happy when they finally got married.
You are one class act, Jason Dohring.
I legit sobbed. Like UGLY cried.... My boyfriend thought I was going crazy.
Me too my bf just looked at me like wtf are you really crying over this show.. I was like a pissed cry too. I was yelling wtf they can't kill him wtf.. Lol
I was to pissed to cry or i probably would have too
We all have that empty feeling, we all do😭
I think Piz said it best in the movie, "It [Neptune] really IS on a Hellmouth."
And Rob Thomas is Satan. I refuse to believe Logan is gone for good. Let's just "Dallas" that whole thing, and Veronica wakes up one day to find he's not dead, but taking a shower.
There are so many detective shows with marriage and love with an adult love not teen love! Total bs
I am done with the show. Killing Logan killed the show for me. Anyone else?
All of us. We are now burnt marshmallows
yesss it completely killed it for me
Absolutely! He was my favorite character and I LoVed them so much. I can’t accept this and I won’t continue watching if there is even another season without Logan alive in it somewhere.
I can’t believe it the connection/chemistry was the best part.
I'm not, I'm glad the show's story is moving forward
I don’t think I can watch the show anymore.. what’s the point!!!
I'm done too. Their relationship made the show. There were so many other angles the story could have taken and still been strong. You bet and you lost, Rob. I think I would consider changing this one.
Me too Logan’s death was just tragic especially after all they been through together and individually
The new season was sooo good up until the ending !! Killing Logan made me sooo mad !!! I thought they were about to show a glimpse of their future together with kids and everything but no they killed him and he didnt even get his honey moon ! :( I did not like the ending at all !
Rob Thomas owes me a refund for the Kickstarter movie.
RickeGnool please let me know how to get what we donated back, because they basically made us pay for our own disappointment which is foul
Respectfully, the movie was nothing more than fan service. He gave the fans what they wanted.
Rob Thomas owes you nothing. You donated to a movie, you got the movie. God, fans are such whiny, entitled dipshits.
I'm so sad about this. I hope there's a twist and he's not really gone.
A request can be made that logan survive!!!!!! The fans can do it?????
I was so excited to watch this new season, but I'm disappointed I can't even watch it
Rob Thomas could've shed the teenage drama without killing off the best part of the show. Boo, Rob Thomas! Who wants to watch Veronica without Logan? I will pass.
Me too
Just finished season 4.
Noooooo! No! No! No! No! BRING HIM BACK!!!
Jason, we love you. You deserved better.
No Logan, no show
Logan Echolls Forever!!!
I’ve been crying for days over this, I won’t watch it anymore.
Yeah. I was surprised by how gullible they made her this season.
Jamie B my Veronica would never
I've never been so disappointed by a show.
HuNFaTaL I won’t watch it
VM was THE teen drama for me.
Hmm I thought he said he just found out a short time before and was like oh ..
So sad about ending! But at least give us more Jason in some new show 💓
Yeah ok. I was hoping for the same rage the entirety of the fans felt.
Just finished and HOW COULD THEY!!!
I only shed a few tears at the end of the fourth season because I was so shocked. I’m still reeling over this.
cant relate too many tears here
You know, me too.
Agreed, after 15 years, Logan and Keith are untouchable. Nobody will watch this if they don't bring Logan back.
@@ivancorsoiv5792 There are many ways to explore Logan's character. It's just lazy writing.
Rob sounds stupid and offensive. There are so many women in the military, police force, etc that are happily married with kids and get shit done.
After 12 years of loving this show, I'm officially done. Good luck Rob, nobody will watch your stupid season 5
true that. bring back the show just to shoot it i the head like this. crap ass move from director
@@NarciaLily Awww that sucks! I definitely get it though.
Lostlover and Narcia I agree with both of you, this was the most upsetting to me regarding a person on A show, it hit me harder then I thought it would. I honestly wish they kept their love story going into having children, I loved them together ❤️💔
I thought for sure it was going to be V's dad, But Logan man that's just wrong.
Am hoping that this is a creative curveball that ultimately results in Logan returning. Like many I feel that there is no show without Logan. Really hope Rob is getting the message on that one.
Emily don’t think things will change-Jason was crying when talking about his death.
Rob has said definitively that Logan is dead.
@@mrname4899 yeah I read that article after posting this 😥
Rob could still change his mind. If not then just pretend it ended just after they married.
I'm hoping if there is another season it'll be like how Veronica thought her dad was blown up in season 2... if not then I'll be forever disappointed and heartbroken. #LoVe
Rob Thomas has said definitively that Logan is dead. Whether there's a fifth season or not, he's dead.
Thankfully they didn't show him dead, so anything could happen. She said hoping against hope.
This was published just a little too early. Not done with the show yet! Thank you TV GUIDE!
If the show is released all at once, you ALWAYS stay off the Internet until you finish. The world is not going to wait for you to discuss the season.
THIS IS NOT OKAY
I was so excited for this show to come back, I don’t know if I could watch season 5 without Logan 😭
they did him wronggg in that thumbnail though 😭😭😭
Oh GOD... I just cried my eyes out. 😭😭😭😭😭
I cried listening to him say "this is it." Dang.
Almost 24 hours later and I still can’t stop crying 😭😭😭😭😭
I love the show. It's so witty and fun. And I'll give it a try if it comes back for a 5th season. But I just can't imagine it without Logan.
Yep I’m crying again 😭😭😭
Oh good now I can hate another shows season just like GOT
Whaaaaaaat? Nooooooooo, not Logan 😭😭😭😭😭
"Sometimes suffering is just suffering. It doesn't make you stronger. It doesn't build character. It only hurts."
--Kate Jacobs
Blow your excuses out your ass, Rob Thomas; this decision sucked the soul out of your entire creation. It didn't strengthen anything, it just hurt.
All of Veronica's boyfriends couldn't hang. Logan is everything 🥺
Even Jason is not convinced it's best solution
They have just ruined the show. There is no Veronica Mars without Dad, Veronica AND Logan ... Logan deserved better. WE deserved better
i get the feeling the director rob actualy wants to kill the show, becaus he just friggin did. morron is what he is

Much sadness 😩😢
I hate EVERYTHING about this storyline and this fate for Logan.
Whhhhy? Couldn’t he get to live out his life after doing so much work to become a better person? Why couldn’t we get to see that kind of example in a man?!?
Feel so betrayed after riding for this show all these years. This was a BIG mistake, HUGE!! And I’m done with the show without Logan. Sorry I don’t care about Veronica’s “ark” after this. #LoganDeservesBetter
As far as I’m concerned, there is no more #VeronicaMars without Logan. 👋🏾
Never been so cussing pissed and heartbroken!!!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR THE SPOILER, TV GUIDE. THE SHOW'S NOT BEEN OUT FOR EVEN LIKE A WEEK LOL
They killed a part of me when Logan died. The last ten mins killed season 4 for me. I think I'm just going to watch season 1-3 and forget that season 4 exists...
+ movie
BS lazy writing.
The ending disappointed me so much when the show ended and LoVe wasn’t together that made me mad then we get the movie and she’s been dating Piz during that time and then we finally get another season and they’re happy and together and finally get married for him to die WTF I won’t be able to watch earlier seasons the same or any future seasons if they do get one the ending ruined the show for me
I'll miss Logan. Jason you did a great job!
BRING HIM BACK. I WAITED SO LONG JUST TO SEE THEM HAPPY TOGETHER. HE'S NOT ONLY VERONICA'S LONG-TIME-LOVE, ALSO MINE TOO.
Logan not only became my favourite character from the show, but he became my favourite character of all time. I cannot they killed him off in such a final way. My Veronica Mars journey ends here. I’m sorry.
In fact there is no show without Logan, that is honest true.
True. Most of the memorable scenes are with his character
