Acting like anyone other than Henry is undisputed is stupid. Rooney is insane and could easily make this. But KdB has more PL titles, more PL team of the seasons, more player of the season awards, has a better g+a per game ratio.... That alone is a huge case to put KdB on the mount rushmore. Probably the best player on a team that won 6 out of 7 league titles, which makes them the most dominant team in the PL ever. Now I'm not saying those accolades are the be all end all. That would be stupid. But it paints a picture of a player who's been dominating the league for 10 years. That is something other candidates can't say.
The whole point of a 'Mount Rushmore' style of debate, compared to a 'Four Best PL Players' debate, is that it's about what they did during their time/era. What do they represent? Are they the best representation of that time of the league with their qualifications? etc. Thus there has to be a City player in there to represent the last decade of the Premier League. They're one of the most, if not THE most, dominate sides that the league has ever seen under Pep. Leading that era of dominance, as well as being the face of the club, Kevin De Bruyne HAS to be in there. For me, it's: Cantona - 1992/1997 Henry - 1999/2007 Rooney - 2004/2017 KDB - 2015/Current Day

People really forget that in the first 15 years of the pl goals weren’t as frequent. The game was much more defensive, smaller teams could compete more and the game was much tougher
I grew up in South America and the Caribbean in the late 90s/2000s, everyone I knew watched Laliga and Seria A. But there is one player everyone knew when it came to the PL and his name is David Beckham, till this day no one has reached that level of stardom and influence while playing in the prem. (Besides CR7 when he came back to United.) that's just my 2 cents in this conversation.
I’m glad aguero is getting the credit he deserves so underrated these days one of the prem greats but kdb in 21/22 was unbelievable getting the prem scoring 4 goals against wolves and getting that assist in the 3rd goal against villa on the last day
Lampard is a better goalscorer than KdB. But let's be real, the fact that Lampard took penalties makes it seem a bigger gap than it is. Without pens it becomes 106 goals vs KdB's 65 with well over 300 games more played. In my opinion goal scoring should always be looked at without penalties first. in 2008/2009 Lampard scored 12 goals whilst the following season he scored 22. A ridiculous number for a midfielder. So he just suddenly became a far better goal scorer? Or did he just attempt 11 penalties that season compared to the 2 the season before? I think we all know the answer. Penalty goalscoring is not something you can rely on every game. It is not a "strategy" or a "game plan" to score loads of goals. One season you might attempt 9 and another season you'll attempt none. In game goalscoring can be far more easily manipulated. Getting in the right positions and having a great shot makes it so that every game you know there will be a chance of scoring. Strayed of my original point, but wanted to say this for a while haha.
Interesting argument but I think, 41 goals is still a big difference especially for midfielders, despite the number of games played. And when we strictly speak about the finishing ability, Lampard is clear of KDB in my opinion. I still have Lampard > KDB overall but they are both absolutely expectional players.
Also, when it comes to scoring penalties I see it as an additional trade of a footballer (you have heading, movement, iq and pens for example). So it has to be taken as an overall positive for a player, not something that downgrades him compared to others. So why was KDB never on pens? He probably lacks that ability compared to some of the other players on that man city team (not saying he is a bum pen taker ofc)
@@danielvodicka5324 Little disclaimer: It's actually 134 non penalty goals. Somehow i forgot to add his west ham years haha. Which makes the gap quite big. What i would say is that a peak Lampard would give you about 8-12 non penalty goals a season. For de Bruyne it's about 8 with far more outliers in both directions. Lampard is over KdB in goalscoring for me as well. But i just think the gap isn't as big as people like to believe. If you're gonna compare two players in all kinds of aspects and one has much better longevity that means that these total stats will always go in one direction. Longevity is a huge part of being a great player so I count that so highly. But if you're then also gonna use total stats you're kind of using longevity for every argument. In my opinion if one has better longevity than you should then compare players over a (for example) 6-8 year stretch. While obviously keeping longevity in mind. Lewy probably clears Ronaldo Nazario in every total statistic, but R9 was undoubtedly better.
@@danielvodicka5324 About pens, I can see where you're coming from. However we all say: "Imagine Drogba was on penalties in 09/10!" Lyes included. Yes it's a trait, but it's not one where only a single player on a team would be able to convert at a high clip. For example: Ronaldo pretty much took every penalty for Madrid. On that same team they had Benzema (31 out of 36 penalties scored in his career), Ramos (22 out of 23 scored) and Modric (10 out of 10 scored). Ronaldo is better than these players. If Ronaldo would have gone down injured for a season at Madrid they would struggle to score goals, but not because they suddenly would convert penalties at a 40% clip.
Look at goals per game and Kevin has 0.03 less per game than Lampard. Not to mention 25% of Lampards goals were penalties lol, not crazy to say Kdb has an equal goal scoring record
Why do people not respect what city have done. They are the most dominant club english football has ever seen and their talisman and best player is KDB. He has put up 15-35 GA from CAM too many times been too good for too long for people to act as if he isnt the best midfielder in prem history. How many prem titles? How many trophies? Prem Assist record, best GA/90 from midfield in prem history, Truth is KDB is the modern day Henry. Stupid eye test, Stupid stats, Face of the league for years. The difference is he has 3x the prem trophies Henry has and didnt leave to go and win trophies in his prime. If we think from an Era standpoint Shearer Henry Rooney KDB these guys are the faces of their respective eras of the prem. About 5-8 years between each of their peaks and they are the faces of those generations.
My definition would be "which 4 players could you not tell the story of the premier league without?" Henry - Arguably the greatest player in league history Ronaldo - Best player, biggest superstar, and biggest transfer (2021) in league history KDB - best and most consistently available member of the best dynasty in league history 4th spot is either Rooney or Terry just off their contributions to so many league titles
KDB is there without question. Lyes Man U bias showing, idk, but how he isn’t immediately put there makes me question football knowledge. By any metric he stands tall
I'm an older viewer. I was about 11 when the PL started and I'd have the following: Thierry Henry, Roy Keane, John Terry, KDB. It's players who have played for four different teams, all dominant in their peak, different positions and crucial to the culture in their clubs. I don't like having 4 strikers but that might be personal preference. The reason I'm not including Aguero is because I think many strikers in that era could've had a similar goalscoring rate if they were being supplied by KDB, David Silva, Bernardo Silva etc. Shearer, Schmeichel, Rooney, Scholes & Giggs are unlucky to miss out.
not having a city player in the mount rushmore is your biasness showing. city is the best team in the modern era with the 2nd most amounts of pl titles how can not 1 player make it? typical united fan
Agree, we cant just have Shearer on there for numbers. It's about the story of the premier league and the most iconic players. Rooney has a better claim than Shearer. Henry KDB Rooney John Terry for me
Lyes love the content and support you always. Just wanted to point out in 5:52 that it’s a lie that has circulated for years that Henry scored a free kick, they called him back to retake and he scored again. What happened was a fast free kick he attempted to take and the ref called it back. It s was noticed in previous games that he likes to take quick free kicks and potentially score from it so the ref spotted that
I just find it funny when we do all these Mount Rushmores of Spanish, German, Italian, French leagues, we talk about the whole history of the league. While for the English league's mount rushmore we start from 1992/93. Its almost like the 120 year history prior to that does not matter at all
Thanks for mentioning Bergkamp. Somebody had to do it. Mount Rushmore is based on men who changed the course of the country, in anyway shape or form. Dennis Bergkamp made English fans look at football in a different way, before players like David Silva and Fabregas did it. Before Bergkamp Arsenal was called “boring Arsenal” for their style of play and kick and rush. Bergkamp came with technique, vision, skills and art. If it wasn’t for him and Cantona, we would still be looking at a league with long balls, strong and tall strikers and defenders who got their teeth knocked out. And when he came in, people said he wasn’t suited for the Premier League. Instead, he changed the Premier League. I don’t mind him being left out, but people should remember the league before he came in.
I get the KDB vs Agüero argument, I think it comes down personal preference in terms of how you want to build your Mount Rushmore. If you want to put the four best players, then yeah De Bruyne probably gets in there. But when you are thinking iconic and the story of the premier league like you Lyes want to go off of, KDB doesn’t scream to me. When I think of this modern era of City dominance across the last decade or so, I don’t think of KDB, I think of Pep or Agüero so I get it. Going off of those standards I’d probably pick Henry, Rooney, Agüero, and Cantona, with Giggs and Ronaldo narrowly missing out
Cantona for me has to be the first player in a Mount Rushmore. He is the founding father of the Prem era. I look at each mini era of the Prem and which iconic player defines that period of time. Cantona mid 90s Henry late 90s - mid 2000s Rooney 2000s - early 2010s Debruyne Mid 2010s - Now
KDB is 100% there not even a question. He is THE defining prem player of the last decade. In 20 years when we talk about this era of premier league football and Peps dominance, the first player thats gonna be brought up is KDB. Hes gonna sound like a myth the way we talk about him. Hes been crucial to every title city have won always showed up in big games.
My criteria: (you could add other attributes like consistency and stats) Success: (e.g, Low Gerard, High Giggs) Instrumentality/importance (e.g Shearer) Flash (e.g Henry) Longevity (e.g Giggs) Iconic Moments (e.g Aguero) Based on this, the choices are easy for me: Giggs, Henry, Rooney, Lampard
You cannot tell the story of the Premier League without mentioning Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira. Their rivalry was one the highligjts of the Premier League in the late 90s through the 2000s. And its really disrespectful when people just relegate Roy Keane to some hardman on the pitch. He had a great engine, running power and passing ability. But he sacrificed a lot of his game for the likes of Paul Scholes and David Beckham to shine
1:03:37 if we are doing foreign players, why is Peter Schmeichel not in the conversation? Why is Virgil Van Dijk not in the conversation? His impact changed Liverpool for the better.
Cr7 hit the highest peak pl has ever seen. He was the best player for the first 3peat and champions league. And as a footballer he is the most entertaining and the best in pl history.
Titi won the GB 3 times consecutively, not 3 times overall. He holds the record with 4 which will undoubtedly be equalled by Haaland by the end of next season.

My Prem Mount Rushmore: Rooney- Greatest English talent ever (could have been even greater if he didn't get as many injuries); could play any front 3 positions and in the CAM spot; multi league winner; part of one of the greatest strike forces in the Prem, ever. Giggs- Longevity/success, over 100 goals and 150 league assists Henry- debatably greatest Prem player every (enough said) Terry- greatest center back in the Prem (imo); 5 League titles with one team, most goals by a CB, was in a team with the fewest goals allowed in a single season
1:07:15 It has to be Virgil Van Dijk. When you talk about signings that transformed clubs, Van Dijk is on that level. He will always get a mention before Mohammed Salah for me
Cantona and Henry are the only 2 absolute shoe ins for this. I think people don't understand how much of an icon Cantona was in the first 5 years of the prem and not only for United he lay the foundations for all of the foreign players to come into the league over the next years (Zola, Bergkamp). And tbf a Mount Rushmore should only have players from the first 10-20 years of the Prem. You could just about make an argument for the Terry/Rooney generation but after that meh. Unless FDR becomes the 5th head or something.
This is why I can’t with the internet, KDB’s legacy has absolutely nothing on Aguero’s and I’m not sorry for that opinion. KDB is with us here & now, that’s why you man are bigging up his legacy. I’m with Lyes, KDB is already a premier league legend but Aguero is the man for City.
25:02 If we are making mount rushmore of everyone in the premier league all 4 would be managers. I wouldn’t even have henry. Wenger comes before him. Premier league is such a manager's league. Biggest figure of every big 6 team's (maybe other than spurs) history is a manager.
I agree with Shearer being there since he is THE English prototype of a striker. He embodied the English style of play in his era. Tall, strong with a cannon of a shot Basically embodied brexit football
wayne rooney definitely in there I remember in my country (Kuwait) during 2010 to 2012 lets say before ronaldo became insane at madrid it was always Messi at first then rooney then ronaldo most of the kids during that period either supported madrid or barca but rooney made kids support united. @@SASMADBRUV7thats fair, floor raising vs ceiling raising
Tbf 21/22 he went crazy I can’t lie
For me, it's:
Cantona - 1992/1997
Henry - 1999/2007
Rooney - 2004/2017
KDB - 2015/Current Day
Tbf this is a fair list. I'm not sure about KDB but your argument is solid.
KDB isn’t even the best modern era player, he just ain’t on there
@@indianbossman606 So who does define that time then? They have to have a similar/equal resume to displace him.
@@indianbossman606who is it then? U'd be waffling if u say anyone other then him my guy right here just gave such a good case for KDB that no modern era player would top it
24:56 with all due respect when you say “city don’t have a defining player” and that it’s more so pep that deserves the plaudits, I get it. But then immediately you say he’s one of the best players to ever touch the league… so why? How can he be one of the best players to ever touch the league in one moment and then the next he can’t be majorly credited for being the constant during a transition from old city to new city and still being one of the most feared players in the league. Just feels like you either don’t actually rate kdb that highly or city just has a double standard due to peps aura
He even said kdb is one of the best players he’s ever seen but then say city doesn’t have a defining player as if pep just had a bunch of average players
Yeah that’s a load of rubbish he’s spewing, bc who’s the defining player under Sir Alex? And KDB is most certainly our defining player
The PL in the modern era is the strongest it has ever been. Lets be real the PL got smoked by La Liga for years and years before a couple years ago. KDB (and Salah/VVD as honorable mentions) had to be on there.
got smoked between 2009-2017. Immediately before and after, English sides fared really well in Europe
@@LyesClips but don’t you think this era of the PL is the strongest its ever been in our lifetime comparatively to the rest of Europe? In the early 2000s Serie A was up there then La Liga dominated and now the PL is on top.
@@StanThAmaNnn serie a la liga are not that strong any more but just cuz they are declining doesn't mean pl are at its strongest during the 2000s prem teams did give the likes of ac milan juventus inter barcelona real madrid bayern munich a lot of trouble a team that hadn't won a prem ever beat the best team in the world at that point then they got back and got humbled by chealea and united and arsenal so im not sure about that one
De bruyne disrespect is crazy that treble winning season kdb is overshadowed by haaland but when it came to ‘moments’ which lyes relies on kdb was the one to show up against madrid in the bernabeu not haaland bernardo gundogan mahrez foden it was Kevin De Bruyne as a man city fan KDB is above aguero all time 100%
* Also at the end of the 22/23 season march april may june kdb was in my opinion the best player in the world
Rare miss from you brother, KDB is in there like swimwear
KDB is the defining player of the Pep PL era... he has to be there
KDB owns the mt rushmore 😂
RESPECT KBD leave the nostalgia
In order of era, the 4 players you absolutely cannot tell the premier league "story" without:
1. Cantona
2. Henry
3. Rooney
4. KDB
Kdb- best player in the premier league history
No
Tied with Henry imo
@@TaxEvader22he’s not tied at all
@@krrr4034 okay then he’s better
These KDB stands have gotten out of hand. No way you genuinely think that.
People really forget that in the first 15 years of the pl goals weren’t as frequent. The game was much more defensive, smaller teams could compete more and the game was much tougher
Henry,Rooney,Terry,KDB key players in an era of dominance for their respective clubs
Honorable mentions to shearer, giggs, salah, and aguero
Sure but lampard was an 8. Kdb usually plays further up the pitch
2021/22 was the guy for city
I might seem like a causal, but Rooney is the first guy on the list for me. The guy just screams Premier League and English Football.
“Lampard has 100 more goals.” In 400 more games…
Look at goals per game and Kevin has 0.03 less per game than Lampard. Not to mention 25% of Lampards goals were penalties lol, not crazy to say Kdb has an equal goal scoring record
Mate scoring goals back then was Way harder teams actually played defensive footy. Can’t compare stats from two eras in that way.
Prem Assist record, best GA/90 from midfield in prem history,
Truth is KDB is the modern day Henry. Stupid eye test, Stupid stats, Face of the league for years. The difference is he has 3x the prem trophies Henry has and didnt leave to go and win trophies in his prime.
If we think from an Era standpoint
Shearer Henry Rooney KDB these guys are the faces of their respective eras of the prem.
About 5-8 years between each of their peaks and they are the faces of those generations.
Alright yeah 25 minutes in and man… I expected better KDB analysis
You can say KDB didn’t deserve the PFA for 20/21, but he definitely deserved it for 21/22. Salah fell off after AFCON
My definition would be "which 4 players could you not tell the story of the premier league without?"
Henry - Arguably the greatest player in league history
Ronaldo - Best player, biggest superstar, and biggest transfer (2021) in league history
KDB - best and most consistently available member of the best dynasty in league history
4th spot is either Rooney or Terry just off their contributions to so many league titles
Love how he basically called everything faysal was gonna argue later 😂😂
KDB is there without question. Lyes Man U bias showing, idk, but how he isn’t immediately put there makes me question football knowledge. By any metric he stands tall
Just listen to every ex pl legend from shearer to scholes to Gerrard to beckham, and how highly they speak of kdb. The best player in modern pl era
Its almost like the 120 year history prior to that does not matter at all
Henry, Rooney, Aguero, Gerrard
Dennis bergkamp is a shoe in for the foreign mt rushmore and potentially pl all time
I get the KDB vs Agüero argument, I think it comes down personal preference in terms of how you want to build your Mount Rushmore. Going off of those standards I’d probably pick Henry, Rooney, Agüero, and Cantona, with Giggs and Ronaldo narrowly missing out
faysal's face between 3.30 and 3.50 is something else
Cantona for me has to be the first player in a Mount Rushmore. He is the founding father of the Prem era. I look at each mini era of the Prem and which iconic player defines that period of time.
Cantona mid 90s
Henry late 90s - mid 2000s
Rooney 2000s - early 2010s
Debruyne Mid 2010s - Now
Much respect man for giving kun his flowers
52:19 "i hear what hes saying, faysal just cant speak english" 😭😭😭
💀
KDB is easily in the Mt Rushmore of the Premier League
Everyone on SDS is downplaying KDB impact in the EPL because he played in the Pep era, i dont wanna hear it man
lyes not naming ronaldo in the mount rushmore, he reallyis a generational hater fairs
Should have watched the last bit with Faysal being shameless 😂
w reaction, definitely react to sds vids more often
KDB is 100% there not even a question. He is THE defining prem player of the last decade. In 20 years when we talk about this era of premier league football and Peps dominance, the first player thats gonna be brought up is KDB. Hes gonna sound like a myth the way we talk about him. Hes been crucial to every title city have won always showed up in big games.
idk if sharky clarified that this can only be players but if that isn’t the case than Sir Alex has to be on every list
The goat Lionel Messi said - the first time I saw Titi in our dressing I couldn’t make an eye contact, I didn’t believe he was with us
“Fuad isn’t making a good case, if I were to make a case for KDB I’d say this-“
*Repeats exactly what Fuad said*
My criteria: (you could add other attributes like consistency and stats)
Success: (e.g, Low Gerard, High Giggs)
Instrumentality/importance (e.g Shearer)
Flash (e.g Henry)
Longevity (e.g Giggs)
Iconic Moments (e.g Aguero)
Based on this, the choices are easy for me: Giggs, Henry, Rooney, Lampard
He’s not the most entertaining or the best in PL history
Facts, Ronaldo in there
Nah the highest peak was Suarez in 13/14.
19:30-19:34 had me crying, man said "separate the art from the artist"😭
Titi won the GB 3 times consecutively, not 3 times overall. He holds the record with 4 which will undoubtedly be equalled by Haaland by the end of next season.
Lyes THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU i was SCREAMING for aguero in the sda pod as a city fan myself if you talk about the mount rushmore of the PL sergio aguero HAS to be there kdb has a great case but 100% aguero>kdb everyday of the week been at the club for 9 seasons aguero, ppl don’t comprehend how long that is.
My Prem Mount Rushmore:
Rooney- Greatest English talent ever (could have been even greater if he didn't get as many injuries); could play any front 3 positions and in the CAM spot; multi league winner; part of one of the greatest strike forces in the Prem, ever.
Giggs- Longevity/success, over 100 goals and 150 league assists
Henry- debatably greatest Prem player every (enough said)
Terry- greatest center back in the Prem (imo); 5 League titles with one team, most goals by a CB, was in a team with the fewest goals allowed in a single season
1:07:15 It has to be Virgil Van Dijk. When you talk about signings that transformed clubs, Van Dijk is on that level. He will always get a mention before Mohammed Salah for me
I feel like Drogba is being overlooked from an influence perspective, all of Africa adore the premier league almost entirely due to drogba
Have you watched the overlap with Peter Schmeichel? Talks about how Cantona changed their team
Hugo Sanchez, Raul, and Di Stefano have a claim for La Liga Mt. Rushmore. They were 2, 3, and 4. Before Messi, Ronaldo, and Benzema
25:02 If we are making mount rushmore of everyone in the premier league all 4 would be managers. I wouldn’t even have henry. Wenger comes before him. Premier league is such a manager's league. Biggest figure of every big 6 team's (maybe other than spurs) history is a manager.
Honestly idk how Beckham wasn’t mentioned. As an American I think of Beckham primarily.
Shearer was THE man in the first 5 years of the league. It’s all recency bias. Multiple PFA player of the year awards in that season.
I agree with Shearer being there since he is THE English prototype of a striker. He embodied the English style of play in his era.
Tall, strong with a cannon of a shot
Basically embodied brexit football
Why is every player one of Lyes' favourite players ever 😂
wayne rooney definitely in there I remember in my country (Kuwait) during 2010 to 2012 lets say before ronaldo became insane at madrid it was always Messi at first then rooney then ronaldo most of the kids during that period either supported madrid or barca but rooney made kids support united. He was the most known player in the prem at that time 100%

Aguero is the one from City. My list would be Henry Rooney Ronaldo Aguero
Just wait 5 years when Pep and KDB are gone and Man City are not the juggernaut they are today. People are going to look back at this era as the most dominant era of PL history and it STARTED WITH DE BRUYNE
CR7 Henry KDB Rooney
Sheer quality, feeling and impact… having giggs and shearer is just an insult to football, need to stop pretending people genuinely love football to have statements like that
I would agree, I'd have preferred Scholes over KDB, however, I respect KDB raw quality.
Ur comparing kdb stats to lampard in the prem but u don’t consider the fact that kdb played about 250 games with almost 70 goals and 100 assists vs someone who played 600 games and still has less assists and titles.
