@@laurainejones673 She actually fooled Joan Rivers into thinking that she WAS Margaret Thatcher. (With the help of Johnny Carson) ruclips.net/video/BainzD2lKmk/видео.html The ironic thing is Janet could do a cracking impression of Joan Rivers too.
My gt uncle was Janet Brown's cousin. Janet is the spitting image of my mums cousin Susan. Many great stories I've heard from him growing up. Miss them badly 😢
There's a scene in Carry On Camping where Butterworth, as Josh Fiddler, the owner of the campsite, keeps making up new charges for Sid James to pay so he can use the site - and each one is the same price... A pound. I've seen footage of people visiting Butterworth's grave and finding a one pound coin resting on his headstone. That's such a wonderful and affectionate tribute that I'm sure he would have appreciated.
They were certainly a very talented couple, I remember Janet impersonating Margaret Thatcher and thinking how brilliant she was. He was just brilliant in the Carry On films too. Bless them both .
Peter Butterworth , died in my hometown whilst appearing at Coventry Theatre [no longer there) in his hotel room @ the Smithfield Hotel opposite (no longer there i remember the local paper announcement at the time .Hope I've not spoiled Pauls voice over
Great. Peter was under -rated in my opinion in those films. Janet Brown was superb as Dame M Thatcher. Whether life is an illusion could be debated by philosophers for a long time. Accept life as it is and make teh best of it without damaging anyone else seems to be a good idea that has served my 75+ years . Keep this up Paul
I own all "The Carry On's" and All "The James Bond Film" I remember both Peter and Janet (Just getting old), Love the character's they played. R.I.P. Peter and Janet, Thanks Paul
"Cheers Paul, another good one!. I didn't know that Peter & Janet were married?. I grew up loving, the fabulous Carry On's,....("that's a pound💷") & Janet's fab Maggie-Thatcher impressions, i especially loved her in the Bond film!!.....Two talented Brits,.... absolute national treasures. Bless their hearts💖".💋💋🎻🏕️⛺🔥
Abouslty loved Peter in the carry on films my fav has too be him playing slow bottom in carry on screaming 😱 when he was scared by oddbod lol 😂 and he's with Margaret thatcher impersonation was iconic bless her another amazing video ❤❤
Whenever I hear ….”pound” I always think of Peter as Josh Fiddler lol ….love the lines “ but you’ve had six quid out of us already ! “ 🤣🤣🤣. Another great one Paul , loved both Peter and Janet , hope they having a good ok ‘carry on ‘ party up with the others xx RIP PETER &JANET ❤❤xx just adding he died on my mums birthday 😢
Peter Butterworth brought a certain charm to every Carry On film he was in. Even if it was only a small part he often got the funniest lines but he's especially good in Carry on Screaming and Carry On Abroad. He was also involved in a real life POW escape from Stalagluft III but when that story was turned into a film several years later called 'The Wooden Horse' he was turned down for a part because the director said he didn't look particularly heroic! Sadly I had no idea they died 32 years apart and that Butterworth was actually younger than I thought he was when he died. It should also be pointed out that Butterworth was a regular in the second series of legendary kids TV show, 'Catweazle' from the early 70s. As for Janet Brown, although i'd heard of her I didn't know too much about her but I do remember that scene you show from For Your Eyes Only as that film was the first 007 film I was taken to see at the cinema. Anyway, thanks again for another entertaining video.
I remember both Peter and Janet very well. Peter always played silly dithery characters, giving the impression that there was little between his ears, yet I know he was a very astute man. Janet was a fantastic impressionist. I knew that her performances were so entertaining. I am a Coventrian and remember the local paper running headlines about his sad death.
Peter Butterworth was an unsung hero from the Carry On Movies, he was great 👍🏻 I met Janet Brown at Pinewood studios in October 2004 at a Joan Sims tribute She was lovely, I said to Janet I wish Peter was still here, she smiled and said me too They are together again ❤❤
When I was very young and lived in London, I saw Janet Brown in Cinderella, she played Dandini, At half time, she came out and entertained us all. Thank you Paul for another great video xx
Good to see so many comments already. Peter was one of my favourite comedy actors but was also superb at the straight stuff too. Nice to see he has a marker, so many of the Carry On stars haven't.
They were lovely people, i grew up watching the Carry On films, wished kids of today were growing up with them, great fun. My favourite was Sid James. Rip Peter & Janet xx
Hello Paul. Looking forward to this I love watching carry on films. Also Janet brown. She held my daughter who was just over 1 yr old. Years ago and I still have the paper clipping from that day Janet opened a shop in my local town centre she was so lovley and funny. And she asked if she asked if she could hold my daughter Thankyou for this Paul 🤗👍
Mrs H ... I love the Carry on Films...And yes I still watch them... I never knew Peter & Janet where married so you taught me something knew....It must of been hard for Janet losing her daughter at such a young age...May all RIP...❤
l loved watching peter in the carry on films growing up great actor, and janet's mrs t's impressions were fantastic l had no idea they were married my goodness all this time they were both great r.i.p to both of them.
I never knew they were married to each other. Peter was always one of my favourite actors in the carry on films, he was hilarious. Janet Brown did a really good Margaret thatcher amongst others, she was quite good. Cheers Paul, another good video 👌 You have my permission to relax and take a break! Thank you so much for all your hard work 🙏
Loved these 2...although I didn't realise Peter died in 79. Janet 2011...both brilliant in their own rights...Paul thanks again for all the miles you travel and brining these celebrity graves to us. The public....amazing ❤
Did you know that while he was at Stalag Luft III he was one of the first people to stage a tunnel escape? Stalag Luft became famous as the venue for a breakout which formed the basis of the film The Great Escape! One of the finest comedy actors in my opinion.
Paul, When Im visiting these graves Sites With you Some of them Leave me... Breathless and they Hit home A lot of these people i grew up with, Keep up the good work Thanks Again... I think i Found it... lm a fan *
An amazing couple who brought entertainment and comedy to the world and back together ❤️ as one Rest in Peace 🙏 🪦 and thank-you for your joy you brought to the world
I loved all the characters on the Carry on Films. Peter was right up there with the best. Carry on Camping. Pound. Pound. Very funny. Also in Carry on up the Khyber when the plaster was falling into the dinner. He was brilliant. Janet as Maggie was fantastic too. Whenever you are feeling a bit down, put a Carry film on.
Both great professionals but the mr fiddler persona was brilliant, he had that down to a fine art, the post office bank book really made me laugh when he was trying to woe his x wife back played by joan sims. Another good one Paul.
I loved Peter Butterworth in both Carry on up the Khyber and Screaming, especially the funny dinner party under fire in Khyber! He was also in a few episodes of Catweazle in the 70’s. I met Janet Brown in Great Yarmouth at a charity football match when I was a teen in the 70’s, and got her autograph, she was in summer season appearing on the Britannia Pier in the Mike and Bernie Winters Show!
They famously lived in Ifield and my grandmother, who was a cashier at Marks and Spencer in Crawley, once served Janet Brown. She always said what a friendly and approachable person she was
Of the famous graves youve visited Im very impressed at the gentle simplicity of the burial grounds and grave markers .Here in the US so many are monuments in memorial parks .
Brought laughter to so many including myself, loved the carry on films when growing up, love that they are laid to rest together, thank you for sharing Good question is life an illusion, personally I think life is very real but a rehearsal for greater things to come
Now as a 80 yr old I remember Peter sitting behind a desk with a lighted candle warming his kettle up to make a cup of tea or something like that in a children's program on TV, we did not have our own TV so it was probably in a friends house, Janet took Mrs Thatcher off a treat....I was never keen on the Carry on Films but I did see them later on in life on Video...... Yes two actors from the past and still remembered by people my age! R.I.P. Thank You....
Thankyou Paul for this video, Peter & Janet two very talented people. Every time I watch Peter in the carry on films it makes me laugh out loud a very funny man. May they both rest in peace together 💓🌹
Thanks Paul, what a great choice - one of the best and most underestimated comedy actors of my era. I met him once, just to nod and say hello too. This would be the early 1960’s in West Park, Leeds. I was walking home from school and he was cycling the other way, probably back to lodgings and I would guess he was probably appearing on stage at the Grand Theatre in Leeds. His characters in ‘Carry on Abroad’ (Miseur Pepe) and ‘Carry on up the Kyber’ (Brother Belcher) were just hilarious and some of the lines he was given were just gems. From Carry on Abroad he called Mr Farquhar (Kenneth William) Mr Farciarse 😂 and from Carry on up the Kyber when they were in the harem and he says “.. you can’t expect me, a man of the cloth, to get involved in all this, my job is to save fallen women…..(Roy Castle) “..we don’t have any choice..”. Brother Belcher….”good, save me the one on the right….” 🤣🤣 Finally, I don’t want to say too much about my views about life and death for fear of the abuse it may attract 🤔 As a Catholic, all I will say is that our life on earth is a pilgrimage and merely a snapshot in time, before our after life.
I remember Janet Brown doing Margaret Thatcher she was brilliant at inpersonating her 👍🤣 she was also very funny and talented👏🤣🤣🤣 may they both rest in peace 🙏🌹🕊️💕

Yes! Who could've bettered her turn in For Your Eyes Only, not forgetting John Wells as Denis 😊.
Peter Butterworth as Mr Fiddler was my all time favourite 😂.
I tend to agree that life is the illusion and death is the reality.
Brilliant he was.
A very funny couple. Didn't realise they were married let alone buried together. Gone but definitely not forgotten. Rest in peace Peter and Janet. 🖤🖤
