Hi Jackie. Thanks for featuring our recent singles on the show. Good observation about the song length trend. All seven tracks are exactly 7 minutes each on the new album. It's our 7th album, so we wanted to draft the basic blueprint of this one around the number 7 in some Easter egg type of ways to celebrate that milestone and make things a little interesting. There are a few other ones to look out for if listeners want to take that deeper dive. We weren't sure if it was going to work out at first, because we didn't want little gimmicky things interfering with the flow of the songs/album, but this worked out surprisingly well. I'm sure Transcending Obscurity will be letting a few more tracks out of the cage between now and the 11/15 release date, so be on the lookout between now and then. Thanks again.
Great one, both of you! Mortiis was absolutely an inspiration for alot of us that took on solo projects and experimenting with the more atmospheric side.
Hi Jackie! Well, what could I say about Mortiis and his legacy? You definitely have to have balls to put false elf ears and nose, playing some cold synth melodies and make it a living! Nothing but respect for such attitude and pioneerism! Love when artist are plenty open about that and how they face life as it is! Talking about the Episode content, here some takes: 1) Nah, dude: Concrete Winds is really something else! I don't think Nails and CW shares the same category since CW is closer to Death/Grind characteristics. Enjoy both though! 2) Modern Rites sounds quite epic and somewhat Post in some aspects; it's immersive but demands some attention to dig into IMO; 3) Other World is almost mantric, quite dense and uneasy to absorb; the atmosphere is interesting though; 4) Nasty Savage rules! Shit, 20 years without anything new and the just come and drop such a great single! Excited for their new material! 5) I'm with you about Feral: when I'm at the urge for something Swedish the old heroes are already there and there's no competition IMO; sorry for all new bands with that approach but I won't buy their shit so easily; Paganizer is minimally different and show a better dynamic, but I stand in my ground. 6) To the Grave = Deathcore which means I'm totalmente out; 7) Never been a fan of God Dethroned and their new single not gonna change that; 8) Veilburner is pretty cool - I dig into their stuff by your podcast recommend by the way! Love how they could explore some weird guitar tunes into an avant-garde/BM structure! 9) The vocals Agrypine is quite cool, I dig it - the music is varied and pretty decent also; maybe I should keep more attention on them; 10) Vilvodynia is... Idk, highly technical? Perhaps too much I must say; 11) I hardly pass on Oceans; nothing in that music interest me; 12) Not the same Horrendous I know but it sounds catchy! If you finally bring Blackie Lawless then it will be a hell of an event! Thank you so much for the entertainment and until next week!
Cheers for this one both of you, I like to listen to Mortiis talking. Seen him live both in the Grudge/Smell of Rain era good 20 years ago and last year doing his dungeon synth stuff. Both magical.
Holy hell, prolific output to put it mildly. Had the old Earache albums and never really kept in touch with his output...then clicked on the Bandcamp link (finished scrolling about 5 minutes later)...there is a lot for me to catch up on!
Like i said to you when my dying bride breaking news come out the problem had to be between Aaron and Andrew, the other four members can be good musicians but you can replace them. If Aaron or Andrew leave the band is it all over.
You were right. I was really surprised that artwork out of all things would be called out as a sticking point. But that's probably just the tip of the iceberg.
He sounded good when I saw them open for Paradise Lost in December last year. But listening to this new High Parasite record, there are a few dicey moments when he deploys those death metal growls. His clean vocals still sound spectacular though.
@@IntoTheNecrosphere Aaron will be remembered as one of the greatest lyricist vocalist in the death, doom, gothic metal scene even if he retires tomorow. In terms of lyrics i put him in the same level as warrel dane and peter steele. My Dying Bride my second fav band of all time, massive discography.
Era 1 🤘🏼 Still the best. First record I bought was Smell of Rain and that was a great record. I knew Mortiis was tied to black metal so I searched for earlier albums and loved the earlier dungeon sound records from Era 1.
2:07:09 - Agrypnie may have a weird name but the sound is phenomenal. Aetas Cineris and Metamorphosis are the best albums. 🤘🏼 I find the music very amplifying and energetic.

Let's do another episode nearer the album's release!
@@IntoTheNecrosphere That sounds great to us. Let us know.

I will do everything humanly possible to get him on the podcast.
Loved this episode, mate The Grudge came out when I was a young angry teen and it was the right record at the right time lol Mortiis is such a legend.
Pleased you enjoyed it, mate!

Jackie and Blackie? I'm all over that, yes please! Great stuff as always, mate. Wishing Lou Koller all the best with his treatment.
I will 100% make that happen in 2025.

@@IntoTheNecrosphere wonder how much Aaron death vocals can go even in the studio left alone live.MDB 1,2 more albums maximum.

I'll check those out, but not convinced by the bit I heard of the new track.
