    Becky, you give the best advice on how to embroider the Merry & Bright wall hanging. I first used my 5x7 frame for all the blocks. I cut each fabric block 9x 12 and pressed per your instructions. I then starched each block and added my interfacing which I keep on hand, wove fuse 2. It is perfect for adding more stiffness after adding the starch. I cut and fused all blocks and now all I have to do is stitch. Followed your instructions on hooping using the t-pins and that was a really good tip. The fabrics sit in the hoop like a drum. No puckering at all. I use 2 layers of black no show mesh stabilizer. I have the sew line glue pen that was just sitting around so that’s what I use to keep the layers together when hooping. Just the edges out of the stitch field. I use a Solaris 2 which I purchased as my retirement gift to myself. Best gift ever. Everything I have created with this machine has come out with 10 ⭐️’s. I haven’t tried quilting yet but I made sure to get a magnet hoop for when I’m ready to try that. My machine has worked with no machine problems out the box. I just love this machine and looking forward to learning and working on new things with it. Still working on my Candy Can Quilt but kind of put it on the finish next years list. I’m over Halloween and Christmas is coming. Just wanted to say thank you for your great tutorials. Hope your Thanksgiving was everything you wished for it.

Thanks so much for sharing- I’ve been desperate for good lessons on embroidery for beginners on a Brother machine and yours is so super easy to understand, not to mention so clear and thorough!!

    When I took lessons on my machine they said to always run the thread on the tree through that little guide to add tension to the thread. It really helps!
    Love your Work Smarter sections!
    Even though I have a a BL Ellisimo Gold II thst I got in 2014, your tour of the machine is very helpful because most of the buttons are on my screen in different places (sadly no Bluetooth! )

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  3 года назад +2

      Yeah, they move the buttons around all the time but at least the icons for them remain basically the same. Fun fact - when I asked my technician how he could tell the difference between a Brother and a Baby Lock without their covers on, he said the buttons on the BL are square and the Brother's are round. lol Also, Bluetooth technology isn't used. Nerd alert! I've dug around to find out and don't have a specific answer yet, but I strongly suspect it's a TCP connection. My router is connecting each host (my laptop and the machine) to allow the data transfer to occur.

    The spreadsheet idea is brilliant!
    I’m going to make a sealife quilt block from San Francisco stitch company that requires 77 colors over 10 blocks. I’ve already picked colors close to their colors and took photos of them. This is so much neater than my notes on their instructions and color charts.

      Great! I knew there was a fellow neatnik nerd like me out there. lol I put a blank one on my blog if you want to download. It's a pdf but it will work for you. Or, if you'd like to email me at powertoolswiththread@outlook.com, I'll email you the Excel version so you can fully customize. I used the Ctrl F feature on the design's pdf instructions to find each color and the block where it was used. Oh my goodness, it made my life SO much easier to put in that work ahead of time. Hi Becky! Maybe I missed this suggestion, what speed are you stitching? And, no T-Pins on the small hoop on the Luminaire? Sorry to be a pest. Have you ever used Terial Magic? I plan to stitch out 2 practice blocks, one using the spray starch and one using my Terial Magic. I'll let you know my results. Thanks for your time.

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  3 года назад

      Stitching speed was default. That particular block didn't have the t-pins because I forgot them. lol But all the other ones did. Fortunately, there wasn't a ton of stitching on that block so it didn't matter. No, I don't use Terial Magic. I'm interested to hear your results. You're never a pest. ;-)

    Is the fusible woven like SF101 or is it different for embroidery

  • @polyesterbebe
    @polyesterbebe 3 года назад +1

    I notice the woven backing is fusible; is there a reason either way to use fusible or nonfusible no show mesh?

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  3 года назад

      The fusible woven stabilizes the fabric. The no show mesh will be cut away.

    nice How you possbile tell me why the machine (brother) freezes when moving designs on the computer to the machine. It is the drive that has the files for embroidery machine. WHen ever I move a drag and drop. It circles and oh my. I have to reset. Any ideas

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  3 года назад +2

      That is totally your computer. I suspect that the processor is very slow (older model) so it won't move as fast. The screen wants to move faster but can't because the memory hasn't caught up moving the design from place to place so you get a circle.

    • @lutishahill1393
      @lutishahill1393 3 года назад

      Thanks much but computer is new and embroidery machine. I have windows 10 and new brother machine. What would you suggest?
      Thanks

    • @PowerToolsWithThread
      @PowerToolsWithThread  3 года назад +3

      @@lutishahill1393 Something is going on in the background on the computer that is making it pause and spin the circle. Do you leave the computer plugged in and turned on all the time? If it is turned off (like overnight) then as soon as you turn it on, it's going to check for updates on the operating system, all installed software, and drivers which will drag down the processor and make a spinning circle whenever to attempt to do something. You should leave your computer on and connected to the internet 24/7. All updates will occur at night and then it will run smoother during the day. Be sure to do a restart at least once a week to apply all updates. You might also be receiving notices to make a software purchase after a trial period has ended on the new computer. Also, you might have some malware. If you don't have it already, purchase Norton 365 with Lifelock and install it. It will clean up the computer, keep it clean, and protect you from a lot of bad stuff out there. If you already have it, then run a scan and make sure the system is clean. If you have a computer "clean up" software like PC Matic, uninstall that garbage and restart the machine. It is notorious for clogging up a system. Whatever is causing the spinning circle has absolutely nothing to do with embroidery designs or the embroidery machine. If that doesn't fix it, I'm out of options and you may need to take it to a repair tech. Good luck.

    • @csdurch
      @csdurch 3 года назад +3

      Yes it is. Tile or Block are used for the same term. In the project there are a total of 32 tiles or block designs. Hope that helps. Becky was one of the first persons for me to learn from. It gave me the courage to finally sit down and not be afraid of trying new things. Happy stitching!

      Carole Durch is correct that it is like a block. However, a tile has stitching lines that also line up with other stitching lines in the blocks above, below, and on each side to create a picture. That's why having the tiles be on-grain is so important.
