Yesterday morning at 3am, my male kitty was in his litter box and came out in distress, licking, groaning, and doing the carpet scoot dogs do when they have poop on their butt...I woke up, thinking he had poop on him. And his wee wee was out.. he was in such bad distress I woke up, grabbed the carrier and rushed to emergency vet.. he has crystals, they have a catheter in for 72 hours and will send him home then, but the vet told me chances are high he will block again after the catheter is removed and then they'll have to do a PU, which is when they cut his penis off, this will remove the narrowest part of his urethra hopefully stopping future blocks.. say a prayer for my beloved kitty named Booba. The kitty that is my profile pic.
I have never seen a more affectionate cat in my life ... what a sweetheart. And of course I've never seen a more patient pet owner in my life either. I'm with you dude, I really love cats!

One of my daughter's cats had the surgery. He came through it fine and hasn't had any problems so far.
