That's because it's a stills camera, trying to use it as it only as a Video Camera is not what it does, pointless trying to use it out of its capabilities and is actually stupid and pointless to even compare, but most YT's just make crap up to post something for views, got a mint one near me for £85 so might try it with the 60-120mm Tokina 2.8, I picked up for £10!
This is exactly my camera. Good stills with my 17 mm and 45 mm. Occasional videos are also fine. I got this camera for so little money on ebay I will keep it. Thank you for the video.
Hi Steven, thank you for your interesting feature. From time to time i catch myself using the G5 instead of G9 just for fun & laziness it's so heavenly easy to use. Pls excuse, my English is not so good and i am not sure wether i got you right or not. You complain about changing coluors throughout the Video, but Withebalance can be set manually very easily and works in Video Mode as set. Of course the G5 ist surely not the Burner in no Aspect in 2020, but still its age considered a nice piece of Camera for the low Budget. I just love it for being reduced to the necessary. Please excuse my writing mistakes and thanks again for your nice video.

A G5 popped up in the local classifieds and I thought it would make an okay B-cam for my video business (for which I have two G9 cameras) but the no-control for video makes that impossible. I was going to use it to pull a wide shot to free up the other two cameras and then just upascale to 4K in post (on the rare occasion that I deliver in 4K) but it looks like that issue is a deal-breaker. Glad I watched you video. Very helpful!
Got mine for about $100 a few years ago on MPB in OK condition body only. I don't shoot video much so got it for stills. Biggest problem is the dynamic range wasn't that great on any of these older Lumix bodies, blows highlights easily, so probably best to shoot RAW or RAW plus jpeg generally. Olympus bodies of the same time period didn't have as big a problem with that for whatever reason. Otherwise a very good deal.
As I have 69 years of photography behind me, and maybe 69 minutes in front of me, I will never waste my time trying to be a (very) poor man's Kubrick. This is actually a typical Panasonic STILLS camera: Excellent. I am thinking of buying one but I cannot forget that I have, amongst others, an Olympus OM-D. (OK, I am not short of lenses.) Do I want one enough to overcome the fact that I do not need one? My bank account will decide... Sadly this video only taught me one thing: making videos has never been, is not, and will never be, for me. (As if I didn't already know it...)
01:46 mins ...and with an EOS to M43 adapter along with a NK, PK, OM, M42 to EOS cheap ring adapters, plus an Any of the previous 5 version Adaptall 2 adapter... you have a hell of a lot of 'Vintage Manual Lens' options too.. Though if you have the cash..I guess it's better to get the newer, proper M43rd lenses..
To be honest, check out my Instagram @greaterbythehout and see the quilty I was able to get out of this beast of a Camera. Really good for beginners however since I am growing I need to Upgrade to a full-frame.

I have a Zoom H5 that I would like to connect and soon a Rode or something like that, indeed I have this camera since a long time and I rather try it first for filming than directly invest in a new product. @@JerryWilliam63 in speed or aperture modes. Yes. I do animal's photos with g5. In low light situation if the Iso is too high my photo is ruined by the noise. And can't repair noisy raw file. Manual mode is my favorite. No surprise with it.

Yes, it’s a great camera. It just doesn’t have manual control in video. If you don’t mind shooting video in full automatic mode, you will enjoy this camera.
Is it possible to use this as a webcam? I have the A/V Out/Digital to USB cable but not a mini HDMI. Do you I need a mini HDMI cable to get a live feed into my PC? THANK YOU!
Hi James! Unfortunately, the G5 lacks the ability to output a clean signal over the mini-HDMI while recording. I think Panasonic was trying to protect the GH line back then so only the GH2 and GH3 had it at the time. Speaking of which, if you’re willing to raise the budget a little, the GH2 is going for around $200 currently and the GH3 is just under $300. Anyway, hope that helps!

Think of the G5 for photography, not video, it's a stills camera, and for that it's a steal.
I just bought one used for $90 with a 14-42mm lens. It will make a good "D-cam" on a tripod for filming wedding ceremonies :)

You can actually change the shutter speed.
It's under the "flickr decrease" in Motion Picture menu. 50,60,100 & 120

Lumix G6 has everything you need. Mic input, full manual control, autofocus works ok, ect.
I got mine to help me get started into filmmaking. I don't have the funds for the higher end stuff and from what I found, this will do the trick.
It truly is a great camera at a great price!
This was actually my first camera, learned all the basics on it and loved it. Not many years later after my 80D I'm upgrading to the eos r 😁

The video issue, in smart mode, that isn't great. Yet, love this model, great fun.

Just buy a g7x but I bought this camera from a surfer like 5 years ago from a surfer. I still use it on my channel for videos. Good vid

and auto ISO mode does not work in manual mode for stills.
Of course I use manual to have controls.
