- Day 9 of my Coronavirus lockdown. This time featuring the Moogerfoogers 104M Delay. Just at the quick look at the pedal and why it's so special. Something to fill a few minutes during self-isolation.

I looked up the prices of the Moogerfooger pedals and the excellent news is I can afford the fridge magnet of it
Hah I know they’ve gone through the roof!!
its a shame they are so crazy in price now. speaking as someone with five moogerfoogers, they are the bees knees, the clusterflux is the greatest pedal i have ever owned. i wish they could keep those in production....
Good stuff Mr Carr!!
Cool video! That delay sounds great!
this isloation moogfest is an excellent idea. i got five of these moogerfooger and a little phatty with the CV output mod, you inspired me to have my own isolation fest. apologies to the neighbors
ugghh i have a little phatty too and i tried to get the cv out mod but Moog said they don't have the parts anymore...
Great video! At one point I had the 104Z and 104M and preferred the darker 104Z. Kept the Z and sold the M. Sometimes I miss the tempo sync. Yes the LFO on this is amazing!
what a sound!!!
That is a wonderful pedal to use. Glad I bought mine before Moog stopped making them and prices for used gone through the roof.
I know.. me too!
These are some awesome tutorials. thanks for uploading. Can you post a link to the controller panels to control the dark/bright sound? Thanks!
I really wished I'd picked these up when they were still available. A bit out of my price range now, but it sounds beautiful.
Totally out of my price range now.. lucky I got one when they were available.
These moog sound good my Vst come close but not exactly the same
Really enjoyed this series bud. Salut. Not sure what editor you using in this but thought i'd mention the Lucas Paris VST/Exe collection for 104M, 105M, 108M pedals still on the forum - forum.moogmusic.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24278&sid=274a41de68025cd94451c37da0944b74
I'm lucky enough to have bought the whole range of MF's 101 - 108M inclusive (two ring mods for stereo and also kept the 104z when I bought the 104M) when they came out to compliment my Voyager - got an mp201 as well :) Mooger Heaven. Keep on Keeping on fella. Respect.
Lovely series and a great pedal - do you have a link to the plugin you’re using to control the pedal? Thanks
It’s in the ctrlr forum. I just googled it and it popped up on the first page. You need to join the forum as only members can download it. You’ll also need to download ctrlr itself, and you load the controller file (called a panel in ctrlr speak!).
I can hear the similarity between this and the smaller MF delay...still wish I had the MF-104m though.
Hey @Starky Carr! Thank for all this awesome videos homie! Is that MF-104 MF editor available as a vst or something like that? I own one and would love to sync it to Ableton Live.
It's a CTRLR panel. You need to download Ctrlr then google MF104 editor. The Ctrlr has a forum where someone made this panel (you have too register to download). I'm not sure if it works in the DAW. .. for automation I use the access virus as a control surface - but any would work.
You can actually use the Moog 500 Delay plug-in as a VST/AU to control the 104m/msd. Not all the CC parameters match but most do and it’s a quick way to control it from your DAW. I had to use the metaplugin wrapper to run the VST as it’s 32 but but it’s an easy walk around.
Best box I own...
It’s a beauty 😀
What is the controller panel at 7:35?
I need to swap my ring mod for the analog delay! :-)
I definitely get more use from the delay, but can do some nice things with the ring mod.. not an everyday effect for me though.
I’d love one for my subsequent, don’t really want to have to remortgage though, ha! would you recommend your H9 mate?
I’ve had my virus since it came out as well and never even thought about using it to control outboard fx, I’m going to give it a go today nice one for that tip dude!!
The H9 is wonderful. I did a couple of review of it vs The Rose for delays, and vs Strymon BigSky for reverbs a few months back. The only downside is the immediacy of tweaking in it. If you’ve got it set up with a MIdi controller or Bluetooth to iPad it’s much easier than using the mouse. Using the virus is really easy, just tweak the knobs and save the controller value on whatever you’re using.
Starsky Carr legend, thanks mate I’m going to fire it up now 😎
Good day all, I'm a Moog Prodigy (Rev2) & moogerfooger MF104M delay owner. Is there any value in adding a cp251 to this mix? Would it expand my possibilities or does it only makes sense owning the cp251 when owning multiple moogerfooger pedals?
I’d say it’s not really worth it with only the single moogerfooger. You get additional LFOs, a CV mixer, noise, mult etc.. so you make the most of it with a couple of pedals and a semi modular or modular system tbh.
Please I need a comparison of MODEL D filter against Moogerfooger FILTER!! :) I´m trying to find a filter/Drive that sounds like the Model D. My Slim Phatty can't. It seems on your demos that Behringer Model D overdrive or any other Moog version can´t sound like the Model D filter. What do you think?
I’ve never used the MF101 but the filter states a max cutoff of only 12k so I imagine it’s much darker than the mini.
How do you donwload the control surface software? I can't seem to find it!?
Try looking for CTRLR moogerfooger panel.
Is it the same innards from the Matriarch Stereo delay?
It’s BBD I believe but not the same.
Thinking of selling my foogers as seldom use them, worried I might regret in future and not be able to replace! Thoughts?
I’m keeping mine (although not used too much either). I think this is something I’d definitely regret selling. I’ve had too much experience selling quality stuff only to regret it later.
@@StarskyCarr same! I’m thinking that one day in my old age I’ll have time. I’ve got the mp201 pedal as well, never got around to learning it properly!
Did you buy this pedal new, or used?
I got this one new.
@@StarskyCarr Because I am thinking of getting it as well, but I can not find a new one on the internet. Only overpriced used ones
Yeah they’ve stopped making them so your best bet now is the minifooger.. they’re well overpriced. I got mine years ago and I thought at £400 or thereabouts was too expensive at the time.
Why did Moog discontinue this delay? it's stupidly expensive on the 2nd market, maybe Behringer should clone it and most of the Mooger Fooger range...Sorry, I object to ridiculous 2nd prices for electronic gear.
An Ambient Cyborg they discontinued the delay because of a lack of the chip needed to make it, there was also a batch of fake chips places like EHX got burnt on. Moog may have too. There was one panasonic factory making the BBD chip for these and it closed down a while ago
@@9520575 thanks for that. Well, Behringer have cloned the Curtis chip, much to the chagrin of his widow, I wonder if they could clone this bbd chip? Probably there isn't the demand as there's a million and one delay pedals on the market, albeit this Mooger Fooger sounds absolutely awesome...
An Ambient Cyborg actually someone has cloned it, and some pedals use the clone. i wish moog would too. examples of pedals using the clone are the chase bliss total recall delay and the ehx 1100 blue deluxe memory man
@@9520575 Moog at first turned their nose up at the clones, but now, guess what powers the delay on the Matriarch...
