Can't believe how many you've made! I'm still on #1! We're all gonna have to chip in and get you a 90-degree angled cord, though. I can hardly watch for worrying you're gonna accidentally bend that straight plug in your jack! 😊
thanks for the lesson on the string leveling...never knew this....will be checking mine out but will have to jury rig any adjustment (if required) because of the fixed bridge
I just got a "Recording King" to start on Lap Steel & before I have even plugged it in you Pop my Bubble on my new "Git-tar purchase. I had planned on new tuners & 2 string bender bars. I bought it for the midrange price & the Humbucker pick up, as I concentrate on Blues mostly & wanted a humbucker for the power. Now you tell me I CAN'T intonate the strings. Give me some advise my friend, I'm retired & can't afford the Gretch I was looking at,....unless I sell one of my my other guitars, which would make my heart cry I love them so much.
Thanks for the information...very helpful. I'm finishing a Telecaster style build now, and have my eyes on building one of these lap steels. I like yours...very nice lookin and sound great!
Hi KountryCuz. Thanks for your hard work on your videos, this one in particular has been very helpful for me. Can I ask you if intonation is really important on a lap steel. I have the adjustable tailpiece but would like to change to a straight bridge type. What are your thoughts? Thanks again!!
Thanks Jerry I built that one for myself First Show I played with it Some one Came up A Bought it So I just finishing up a Orange and Black one Hope you have A Great Week
Once again, thanks from England. I reckon you should have a TV program [as well as RUclips] as your accent is wonderful,as is your knowledge. I'm going to level my strings by slightly lowering the high ones, or maybe a tiny bit of superglue in the offending string's slot. Do you have a preference? Thanks so much.....Jerry
Hi KountryCuz. Very interesting video. I have just restored a Hofner 111 lapsteel from the 1950s-60s.I had to get all of the chromework rechromed and the electrics rewired with new pots and resistors. However, I forgot to measure the distance the strings were from the top of the pickup. Can I ask your advice as to what would be a good starting distance of the strings above the pickup. Thanks in advance. Anthony.
Thanks for the reply KountryCuz1, but what I was asking you for was,how close or how far above the pickup should the strings be set, to get the best sound. Or is this just a matter of choice. Hope you can help me. Anthony.
Hello fro, Mr.Boards I've been making some awesome KITs you might want to grab a few to build out for your clients and fans. Best Regards GeorgeBoards.
Hey Cuz,, I recently bought a Recording King, like yours there,, in OKC,, for 180$.. They had a couple of cheap ones, as well as an Old Gibson,, and an Old Rickenbacher,, but 800 and 900 were way out of my range.. I’m just beginning,, got mine tuned in Open D.. I like that Fender adjustable bridge on yours, ( like my Tele’s and Strat’s).. out of curiosity,, how much do you sell yours for. Love your lessons and tutorials Cuz.. Thanks. 😊✌️
Never could figure out why manufactures put the pickup covers on lap steels. I want to be able to palm mute in that same area. First thing that comes off when I get one.
Do you do custom lap steel guitar builds? You are one of the best and interesting steel guitar builders on RUclips.I would very much like to contact you by phone, possible?
@@KountryCuz1 I just ordered this model today and a little hotter P90 pickup to replace the stock factory one. I can't help myself. I always tweak the guts and pickups in electric guitars or lap steels.
