    This is an awesome source for information for anyone who still needs it! I'll add some of my tips I've found that help me build better:
    - pick the style you wish to go for from the start, or perhaps how many Sims are gonna be living in it, are they going to have kids? Are they going to live in this house for multiple generations? These questions can make your decisions make more sense.
    - Baby rooms on the first floor. It's too annoying to play when Sims are taking the babies up and down the stairs and not putting them back.
    - Use SMALLER lots! Even for building mansions. If you have too much space you'll either have too much space wasted or your house will be so big, even if it doesn't look ugly, your Sims will be too slow at navigating the house, and bedrooms will look off because they're just too big. I like to stick with the first 5-6 sizes.
    - Don't use auto roof. Just don't.
    - It was mentioned in the video, but focus more on the exterior rather than the interior, because the interior will 9/10 times look acceptable anyway.
    - I'm sure a lot of players have noticed, but a lot of the walls and floors are pretty ugly, it is wise to use mostly one or two main colours for the walls and floors, just like a real life house. Make sure you choose stairs based on the colour scheme too, and bathrooms generally look better in mostly white or black.

      I GREATLY appreciate this! Just by reading your personal tips I can tell we have a similar thought process when it comes to building. I especially agree with using smaller lots to improve playability. I tend to get carried away and just go for aesthetics, but huge lots are not practical for gameplay (on most computers). Thank you for the tips!

    I only did some quick idea tutorial videos for Sims 2, nothing so crazy concise like this one.

    I don't know if my comment is needed here, but I'll write anyway. For the past 10 years I have been building houses in Sims 2 and I have always been interested in the interiors inside the houses. That is, it was definitely easier for me to take a finished house and then beat it inside based on the requirements of the settled family. to find inspiration, I use many things like you, but I also tried to find at least something on RUclips and unfortunately before I found you there was only one person who more or less built really beautifully. it is also important for me that the mechanics of the game are not violated inside the house, like many who build houses and simply put all the objects outside the grid. that is, as for me, it is not interesting because the house cannot be used. therefore, after reviewing many videos on RUclips, I was disappointed, all the buildings and interiors were very boring and unplayable. and then I find your account. I was impressed by your big store, I even downloaded it and it fits perfectly in my city. But the most valuable thing that I have acquired in your account is inspiration. Yes, I already knew all the mechanics of the game a long time ago, like underground garages and things with a foundation. But I've always had a hard time building something that isn't rectangular. And now, after watching many of your videos and realizing that I have ceased to be limited in my construction, I want to thank you very much. I really was able to do what I tried to do for years and I got masterpieces. I am very satisfied and it's all thanks to you. Every video of yours gives me a boost and I open the game and build. I do not copy your building, but I do something special, but very beautiful or suitable for the style of the family and the area. Over time, I ran into the problem of roofs, because I absolutely did not understand how to do them not automatically, and now your wonderful lesson came out. I don’t even know how to tell you how grateful I am because you opened another door for me and now I’m done opening the Sims 2 again! I wish you all the best in life and in your work. you are doing something really special! I absolutely love your style. Thanks again for everything.

    I'M SCREAMING I'M SOOOO EXCITED I FOUND YOUR CHANNEL OMG!!!! I LOVE your icon SOOOO much it is SO ADORABLE I want stickers of it everywhere 🥺🥺🥺😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰💕💖💘💖 and you have NO IDEA how much this extremely in-depth tutorial means to me omg!!!
    Sims 2 builds are some of my FAVORITE THINGS to watch ever, and I've been on a huge kick again lately!! I've been playing Sims 2 since I was like 9 (so 16 years now...? omg) and the older I get the more and more I want to make my own builds that aren't the same basic uninspired boxes, but the technical detail and skill of things like building cheats and garages and basements and especially ROOFS always seemed way beyond my skill/comprehension. Tutorials are so nice but I've NEVER seen such an utterly comprehensive and basic one for all the foundations od building in the Sims 2 like this!!! For all the beginner building noobs like me, thank you thank you THANK YOU SO MUCH 🥺🥺🥺🥺😍😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰🥰💕💖💕💖💕💖💕💖!!!!!

    This video was fantastic! I've learned so much stuff from it, like the fact that placing roofs on the floor above will hide the roofs directly underneath!
    Also, about light in the basement: in order for basement windows to let light inside, the basement needs to be at least 6 tiles high, instead of the 4 people usually create :)

    Been watching this in bits (still a ways to go) but learning lots! The CFE cheat scares the heck outta me but dang it I want attached garages! 😂 Also that tip about the lower level roofs that kind of border the slightly smaller upper level was TOTALLY new information for me that is super useful, I’ll definitely be implementing that!

    • @extraayogurt

      The CFE cheat is a beast and I try to avoid it at all costs, but yes those attached garages are so nice! I'm glad you got some things out of the video! Love your builds!

    Great build and video - thank you, I learned so much! One question - how did you get the front porch and veranda ceiling to be wood? It looks so good!

    • @extraayogurt
      @extraayogurt  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you!! As long as you have Apartment Life you should be able to recolor ceilings with floor tiles. It can be hard to get the camera at the right angle to see the ceiling, but there is a ceiling view button to the left of the design tool in the build panel. You also have to make sure you have ceilings turned on. That button is to the left of the record button in the bottom panel too. I hope this answered your question! Sorry it's hard to explain without showing you!

    Please tell me more about how to use the elevation cheat. The one time I tried it changed the floor into a slope. Thank you, I wish I found this before messing with the Goth Mansion roof. I had no idea how to do the understory roof

    • @extraayogurt
      @extraayogurt  4 месяца назад

      To be so honest I am not super knowledgeable about the elevation cheat. The few things I've learned to do with it have just come from RUclips videos or experimenting with it and hoping that it works lol. I'm definitely going to work on using it and try to share what I learn in another video!
      I'm glad you liked the bit about the understory roof! (:

      Hi and thanks so much! As far as computer requirements I'm going to be honest I'm not certain. My large builds tend to be a bit slow even on my newer gaming PC. If you're referencing CC reqs I always link any CC used in the descriptions (: Hopefully I answered your question, if I misunderstood I apologize!

    What kind of mods do you have? I need some mods and custom content. I had to reinstall my sims 2 games and I can't remember what I had before
    Btw I am listening while doing chores around the house:)

    • @extraayogurt
      @extraayogurt  11 месяцев назад

      Hello! (: I mainly just use a handful of building mods to improve the look of my builds. I have everything linked in the description however, one newer mod I forgot to link is called the Lunatech “Lighten Up” Ceiling Light Fix from ModTheSims!
      As far as regular custom content my game is pretty sparse. I like to download items I know individual sims will like or things I know will be useful for specific businesses (for example, the functional ATM by Simlish Noir on Tumblr). I hope this helps a little!
