Silent Hill (Japanese: サイレントヒル, Hepburn: Sairento Hiru) is a horror media franchise cantered on a series of survival horror video games, created by Keiichiro Toyama, developed and published by Konami. The first four video games in the series, Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4: The Room, were developed by an internal group called Team Silent, a development staff within former Konami subsidiary Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo.
Silent Hill is set in the series' eponymous fictional American town. The series is heavily influenced by the literary genre of psychological horror, with its player characters being mostly "everymen"

when I clicked, I was NOT expecting to see the voice actor herself! So cool!
There’s also another theory about Lisa and how she maintained her “form” for that long; Alessa felt sympathy and thankful towards Lisa and thus she was partially spared
I never knew that Lisa’s original voice actress was a perky, sweet person. Then again, I’ve heard that comedy and tragedy often go hand in hand so I can see why that makes sense. Thanks again for creating this video and for introducing us to Ukulady! I now have a better idea as to who Lisa is and how voice acting truly works. :)

Honestly, I feel so bad for Lisa. I get the feeling the reason she wasn’t turned into a monster like the other nurses is because Alyssa never blamed her and forgave her but Lisa couldn’t forgive herself for the role she played in Alyssa’s suffering.

Lisa really does deserves to have an explanation because the games are so vague and cryptic about who people are and what’s going on. but I’m pretty sure it’s the whole point of the series… Anyway hearing more of her story, who she was and what happened to her makes Kaufmann’s death all the more satisfying to me.

Actually, they already did. Players need to analyze the story from the beginning, middle, and end. That's how the 4 old games worked. You can't expect a character flat out to explain the story near the end of the game, just like Judge from Homecoming, or Dark Alessa explaining the near the end of the movie.
Im a nurse and I hate to say I can relate to her too much. The feeling of prolonging peoples suffering by keeping them alive when they wont get better.

Lisa Garland is now a playable character in Dead by Daylight and they just gave her a visual update which includes the distorted green earring she wore in the first Silent Hill which is a visual change people have wanted for a long time so she’s more faithful to her OG version. Also DBD has all licensed characters in a separate timeline even dead ones like Lisa who is alive in the Dead by Daylight timeline albeit trapped in a place far worse than Silent Hill called The Entity alongside other Silent Hill characters like Cybil, Cheryl, James, and Pyramid Head
The "No Tomorrow" scene was the first time a video game broke my heart.

Lisa's transformation actually scared me... i found it the most scary scene in the whole game.. because i wasn't expecting it....
Thessaly was SUCH an unexpected but amazing addition to this video! It just makes it that much more special.
Lisa is my favorite character in SH1 besides Harry. I always found her story so tragic. She wanted so desperately to escape, to be her own person and to live her own life but the Order and even her own family kept her bound to something she never really wanted a part of. And that ultimately led to her death, after years of addiction, mental anguish, and possibly SA’d repeatedly by her boss. Her destruction render that plays as she essentially dies AGAIN, hoping for some sort of comfort from someone she cares for-for the first time in years, possibly her life? Ouch. So much ouch. Her sobbing after Harry closes the door on her as he collapses always got to me. Truly, she was probably one of the few characters in this franchise who deserved better than what they got.
On a side note, it’s so funny to see Thessaly side by side with Lisa. Absolutely chaotic, but in a good way 💙

I get goosebumps every time I hear the acoustic guitar followed by Lisas cutscene. Such a beautifully tragic moment that scared the $#!T out of me as a child (and still kind of does still lol).
Oh wow, amazing to see Thessaly Lerner, the original voice of Lisa, one of the most memorable characters in horror for me. Lisa's story and Lerner's voice performance still is one of the greatest highlights of the original Silent Hill. It sticks with you long after you complete the game. Or in my case... after 500 plus completions over 23 years. :) A very well done video.

Another way they could have explained why the version of Lisa seen in SH3 is so different from what she actually looked like, could have been because this version of Lisa was a subconscious Silent Hill memory of her conjured up by Heather in which her memory of Lisa would have been just the basic fragmented pieces of her that came from the Alyssa part of Heather and possibly from notes she reads in Silent Hill written by her father Harry from his experiences in SH1. So the reason why Lisa isn’t portrayed to Heather the way she actually looks could be because Heather has never actually seen Lisa with her own eyes, but through Alyssa, Harry & Silent Hill itself she is subconsciously aware of Lisa’s existence & the extent of what she knows about her would likely just be “She was a Nurse, she lived in Silent Hill, she was heavily involved in the fate of Alyssa & she died” 3 of these apply to what Heather is actually seeing.
Poor Lisa, she was a professional nurse. When she was pushed away by Harry, it made me cry. 😢😭👩🏼⚕️
Holt shiz the original voice of Lisa. That is so awesome. And she can still do the voice too, okay if the SH2 Remake does well enough and Konami greenlight a Remake of the first game do you think we could convince them to bring Thessaly back to voice Lisa...probably wishful thinking but i can dream.

Lisa Garland's story was a very tragic one. The cover of Silent Hill: Cage of Cradle had a Lisa Garland wearing nothing but a Pyramid Head helmet tied by barbed wires. This can be a representation of her being trapped and held captive by Dr. Kauffman and the Order.
I sometimes wonder if Konami would work with Behavior to add a female Pyramid Head Legendary cosmetic for Pyramid Head in Dead By Daylight as a form of Lisa Garland in homage to the Cage of Cradle cover. Instead of being completely nude like in the cover, she can be covered with bandages like the Spirit.
I wish White Hunter could get that treatment too :( but it seems Konami doesn't care about any of the comics made

Lisa broke my heart! I was maybe 15/16 and when I got to that end scene when the blood starts trickling down through her eye I was devestated

What I think is pretty awesome is all the voice actors getting interviews some twenty years later as more and more people start to appreciate the work of the actual people involved. Back in the mid-late 90s, a lot of these people were essentially pioneers in this industry. When they found the original voice actors for Chris and Barry from the OG Resident Evil, both of them said they were caught off guard by the outpouring of interest and support.
Just imagine you fulfilled a voice acting role in a video game some 25 years ago and you go on with your life. Years later, your phone/email starts blowing up with questions over a gig you did a quarter century ago that you can barely remember, but yet everyone wants to talk to you and learn more about it. Lol That has to be a surreal experience.
Ray Liotta received the same praise many years later by fans for his participation in GTA: Vice City.

I love that her drugs are made from the same plant as the red liquid in silent hill 1 and 3. Thus, probably this helped and is why she lasted so much alive

You know I had hoped one of the next Silent Hill games will have the protagonist that ended being Lisa herself finding a new way out of Silent Hill. When I saw P.T. and seeing a different Lisa, I had thought I’d see the other Lisa, Lisa Garland, in the full version. Of course Konami thought cancelling it would be a great idea despite huge positive feedback on the demo.
That said, the character may be short lived, it’s awesome the original voice actress gave her character the legacy of Silent Hill.
Lisa deserves complete redemption even as a spirit. Her revenge wasn’t enough.

One of the first ps1 games that I played and I was so sure of myself that I can save lisa garland from the nightmare, then the truth showed itself.
I have to say when I first played this game back in 1999 it gave me nightmares wow so freaky but it was a cool game to play I love it I wish it made a remade of the first game

I've always thought that the real Lisa was complicit in the whole drug thing. Kaufmann probably offered him a free unlimited supply if he would take care of Alessa and keep his mouth shut. As soon as Lisa realized all the supernatural stuff surrounding Alessa, she got scared and decided to leave her mission, but Kaufmann threatened to cut off her PTV supply if she left. Also at this point, Lisa knew too much about her boss and the few cultists who knew that Alessa was alive and hidden in the clandestine and underground wing beneath the Hospital.
imo lisa had the best voice acting and general voice sound in SH1

I realized something. Where some like myself probably related the "second coming of God" by reading it as "second coming of Christ", those are two very different statements. Jesus is God, but it's referred to one way to denote which of the Trinity specifically, so there is actually no way to confuse it. Especially however their religion developed (devolved) into a cult. When was this first coming of their god?
I will be making a video of this, but to answer your question:
According to the Order's beliefs, and unlike the Genesis account of creation and other stories from religion where a deity creates humanity, humanity apparently existed before God. Here, people knew nothing but pain and hatred.
Seeking salvation from the world around him, a man offered a prayer and a serpent to the sun (the serpent possibly being a reference to the fall of man). A woman, offering prayer and a reed to the sun, asked for joy. Taking pity on a world consumed by sadness, the pleas of these two people breathed life into God, and from them, She was born.
After her creation of the world completed, God set about creating a place where people would be eternally satisfied. With its creation, though, God's strength was used up and She collapsed. With Her last breath, She promised She would come again. She is then said to have "returned to the dust".
This was the first coming of god, and The Order plans for her return.
@@SilentHillside Okay, that is sounding a bit familiar. I think it was 3 that went into that. I'm guessing if the belief sounded questionable to anyone, they wouldn't live long to have questioned it.
Makes you wonder if it was a fabricated story or the order did something at one point in time, possibly whatever twisted the spirit/energies of the land the Natives revered it for aside bloodshed that took place on it.

My theory about Lisa's death was as simple as she geting killed by Kaufman (shot in the head) the moment she just had enough of that cultist shit. And about that same time,Harry arrived and Alessa got her Powers back and the events of the first game started (the dead Will walk the earth).
This could explain why Alessa didn't help her, once she got the control of the town, if we think more deep, Lisa was the one that felt respect and compassion for the girl, her fate should be other.
I see trigger warnings as something that shouldn't bother the intended audience, but may bother other people in the room with the one watching and don't wish for such content. Again, thank you for the warning.

May I assume SH OG & 1 Lisa and PT Lisa is different one? Have a number of disconnected facts in mind .. in SH OG & 1 it was said that she had boyfriend, died in the hospital and her spirit trapped there she couldn't even leave the place. Yet in PT she was described having family, that was husband who might murder her and her child (because in PT there is baby/child cry in some room and in the desk there is some picture of her marriage and child)? In PT she haunted her home, had appearance totally different than she was in SH OG & 1. So whether I miss some stories or it was just as I thought?
I really wish Thessaly voiced Lisa in Dead by Daylight.
