I finished my career twenty years ago and people always say it’s not like it used to be. How wrong; I see professional, dedicated individuals committing themselves to their country, themselves and their pals. Well done them all and good luck in their careers. Brought a tear to my eyes to also see all the int corps badges.
Things have changed so much since my day of fifty two years ago. I was proud to be a soldier and a trooper. I hope they all realise the responsibility they have sworn to uphold, especially as they rise through the ranks. Always remember to be fair and unbiased and also remember a soldiers career is in your hands and subject to your judgement.
A very interesting trilogy of vlogs that emphasised the cohesive importance of comradness within the armed forces. The final vlog laid bear the humanity of the recruits passing out. The memories of the bonds established in boot camp will remain with them for the rest of their lives. Moreover, it is ultimately the reason why a unit, any unit, functions under stressful conditions, we are one, my mates and me. Excellent vlogs capturing the essence of service life.
To all the Training Staff and to the recruits a job well done. To those soldiers who have now Passed Off and in the future, enjoy every minute. Be the Best. Ich Dien. And congrats to the couple who got engaged, to a long and happy future for you both together.

I recently attended my youngest son's pass-out at Pirbright, I was impressed with the fact that weapon handling and fieldcraft takes up much more of the curriculum's time than it did in my day (70's) when drill was king ( in basic anyway). But drill in SHOES instead of best boots is an abomination.
I really enjoyed my 18 years in the Army, got to travel all over and go on many operational tours! Northern Ireland, Iraq, Afghanistan and with the UN. the only downside was when i was made redundant in 2012. Out in 12 months with not even a hand shake at the end of it! just remember once you are out you are out and you are only a number at the end of the day! you are always replaceable and no matter how long you are in you will not be prepared for life in Civvi Street as they will not give you actual resettlement training that will help you!

I served as a Jnr Ldr RA in 88, injury forced me to leave. Do reinlisted into RCT (now RLC) in Sept 89, and badics in Regulars just before 18th birthday in Jan 90. Passed out best recruit, and although over 30 yrs ago. I still remember that day on the Drill Square. I did r very happy years in The RCT Maritime trade, as a Seaman. 20 Maritime Regt RCT (disbanded 89), but Maritime training wing still there, and 17 Port & Maritime Regt RCT were great proud Regts to be part of. Being attached to 3rd Commando Brigade RM was always fun. I joined TA 63 SAS Sigs Sqn in 02, broke my back on pre selection course doing a charity parachute jump on a weekend off. I'm proud to have worn All 3 cap badges, but the RCT Maritime was just great. Serving at Sea was amazing on Landing Craft, Mexeflote rafts, Tug boats, and small fast patrol boats and ribs. As you get older, you young recruits, and newly trained soldiers, will join a very long and proud line of brethren. Once a Soldier always a soldier. You'll find that although your era is different to those before, and those after. A few things are always the same. Drill is Drill, PT is torture (unless sick in the head like me, as loved it), Scran is still slop, volunteering is a no no, greyman (greyperson) is the best warrior. The Troop Cpls and Sgts will always beast you, and shout. But become great mates after training. The SSM is scary, and RSM still God lol. This was the same from Pre Waterloo to Rorkes Drift, the Boer War to the World Wars, Korea, Falklands, First and 2nd Gulfs, Afghan and everyone in between, and beyond. That's the beauty. I've chatted to WW1 vets to younger Afghan vets. Our technology and discipline has changed. Every era will state the previous had it really tough, you own era tough, and future eras had it easy. Banter of yester year would be throwned upon today, but banter will always be banter. No civvy will ever know or understand our eccentric ways. We all from different eras in the history of the Military timeline. With every race, colour, crede, sex, and religion, known to humanity. What unites us, is we all swore the Oath, took the Queens shilling, and passed basic training, to join the best Military in the world. I know this video is old, but what they have endured - I endured, My Dad, Grandad, Great Grandad, and beyond endured. So will you who are joining will endure. You will endure Day 1 - til pass out. You will be ran ragged every step of the way by instructors that also endured what you are about to go through. Remember everything is for your growth into being the next generation of soldiers. At the time you will laugh, cry, scream in pain, but after, and esp decades after. You will look back with the same pride we old vets have. Knowing we realise it was the making of us, and the best period in our lives. It transformed us from civvy to squaddie. From us who Served - Respect to those Serving - or about to Serve. We are All proud of you.

In answer to the question you’re video posed, I didn’t regret joining in anyway. In fact, it’s been a very positive force in my life, 21 years ago I passed out of Pirbright in 1999. I am no longer in the Army. (Left in 2013) I now run three small IT Nuclear networks for a client as a senior consultant. I won’t have had my current success without my time in the Army so it’s still a gift that keeps giving. I left on what I wanted to do. When I did the seven clicks to freedom, as it was completely different from anything I had ever done so I had to learn from scratch. But the second question. Wonderful. Somehow, can’t we have the females in their equivalent of trousers? I mean, if they’re carrying rifles(?) Sort of “at the ready’ equivalent with the lads. Yes, yes, I know about the kilt thing, but then they’re all wearing kilts. All trousers would be more uniform.
Passed off there in 2011 was supposed to be a good day then they added 2 shit troops of ta on the parade 2 hrs 20 in the freezing cold. Fair to say I fucking loved the pint at the end.
My most vivid memory of Pirbright was watching the prisoner getting drifted down Adair Walk as he marked time the blanket on top of his large pack bouncing ten to the dozen.I remember saying to myself I that's never me,needless to say it never happened how relieved was I? I love the diversity that going on in the armed forces nowadays. Its refeshing. On my first day back in the mid 90's i got dismissed from the cookhouse for having "gay" trousers on ontop of all the racism that went on. Mental back then.. but good to see it moved on

Welcome to the club. Enemies or Allies, Civies you are no longer and you have passed over never to be same again.Even when you take it off for the last time, it will remain with you. Arte et Marte..
Throughly enjoyed that... so smart and squared away and good luck to all for the future 👍😁
Nice to see plenty of "Loggies", did my basic training up the road at Blackdown (RAOC) 1981. Heartbreak and Sand Hill and all the others..........

So many smiles, love it .
Very smart - I am very proud of you all and you have done so well 👍
Well done and very very smart march on there. A great achievement all
Well done on passing out. It's a long time since I did, it was the Guards Depot in 1971. No girls allowed. Best of luck.
I feel quite emotional after that! I'm still waiting for a call back. I can't wait to get stuck in!
Waiting for a call back? I got mine the next day?
@@michaelbanton9253 I went for my assessment, but had to get a heart echo, seeing as it was a Saturday I couldn't stay and wait for the results so I had to head home and come back another day (I got the all clear and would've passed the medical. If only my family history was good) so TL,DR family history fucked my medical, I'm good. Need to go back just waiting on a phone call.
Ohhhhh, thought you meant from the careers office, hopefully it gets sorted and you get in
@@michaelbanton9253 thanks dude
slick skills bud great stories
Well done last got bigger balls than me am still not sure about the army not sure if am independent enough but am sure one day I will give it a crack
Much respect with salute goes to everyone good luck.
Great stuff and well done everyone! Fabz I thought we would have seen the actual pass out Parade 🤔 gutted.
TheOutSideR that’s the most boring part to watch, sure you find it somewhere else. This channel captures things that are not captured by others 😉
@@Nikita-lj7oo Yeah fair enough 👍
Keeperm coming fabz
Great accommodation blocks at Pirbright.
was the best day of my life, when i went to see my son pass out, in may 2018
@Fabziy I’m starting at Pirbright on the 31st of March! See you soon mate! 😁
Hows your training going ? I hope you're hanging in there
37 years on, my best mates are my recruit troop brothers. Corps to the core
First comment like & view! Great video 🙌🙌🙌
Another decent video brother...looking good! 👉💪
I've got my initial presentation tomorrow so I'm excited.
Fucking medically unfit, bastard health and safety.
Passing out I remember when I was at that stage, great memories
JR-Murray haha longtime fam, now you turn into a full grown man 🔥🔥🎭
@@Fabziy yes bro lol, all grown up now.
i havnt had my date yet to go for phase one but cant wait to get to this stage
Nice to see all the Royal Engineers
No regrets at all like my father who served as do my brother me my two nephews , as did my aunt Betty who flew spitfire during the war , no regrets .
My most vivid memory of Pirbright was watching the prisoner getting drifted down Adair Walk as he marked time the blanket on top of his large pack bouncing ten to the dozen.I remember saying to myself I that's never me,needless to say it never happened how relieved was I?
I did a years training as a boy Soldier i passed out in June but because some of us took part in Trooping The Colour June 1980 we did our Battle Camp as Trained Soldiers. If anyone is reading this I hope it inspires you to join up.I joined the 2nd Battalion Scots Guards in 1982 we were in the Falkland islands we fought on Mount Tumbledown.
the tunic is smart, but ruined by the silly white belt. the belt should be same colour and attached to the tunic
Thank you for your amazing vlogs.
Thanks for watching!
I love the diversity that going on in the armed forces nowadays. Its refeshing. On my first day back in the mid 90's i got dismissed from the cookhouse for having "gay" trousers on ontop of all the racism that went on. Mental back then.. but good to see it moved on
My inspecting office on my pass out parade was lieutenant general Sir Peter De la Billere..
Why do some of them wear berets and some caps?
Lovely tune to this video. Always keeps me motivated. What's the name of the tune?
What they are actually saying is they can’t wait to get off the camp 😂😂
A little different than my passing out parade , Blenhiem lines, Frimley May 1958. Royal Army Service Corps. T/2364****
afternoon, i’ve seen you around camp a few times and braced up, i’m not sure on what to call you as you are a PTI but also a sergeant, i’m trying to settle an argument w my mate
Started my application yesterday to come from the reserves. Hope to start phase 1 asap

Man your videos drive me so hard
I wanted to join, had my triage call and then my application was closed because of an allergy... so gutted. Goin to try an appeal it
Starting on march 22nd can't wait
Looks like a holiday camp compared to 40 odd years ago.
Ill be coming down to pirbright on 19th april for my phase one, cant wait 😀
Welp not anymore. Been pushed back to 12th July. Hopefully all this shit blows over soon

I wish I was 19 & single again. Think I would have given the RAF regiment a go or RLC. Now married with 3 kids & 37 I guess I missed that boat. I’m certainly not fit enough.
Don't count yourself out yet mate, I've seen some proper lizards 🤣 if you want it, give it a go.
You could always give the army reserves a go! I'm in the middle of trying to get in myself.
7:04 why has he blurred out his beret?
I can’t wait to join
