Ordered one in December. Original delivery date was August but been revised to June - we'll see. Have driven it and very impressed with build quality and performance.

Outside of EVs it’s SUVs and Utes that are most popular. Why EVs are focussed on sedans is obvious (slippery aero for better range) but it’s a shame, I want an EV I can take camping, not a pavement pounder. The XC40 has been top of my list for a long while but also there in its own, for now.

Regarding the range Kris Rifa did a range test and got 386km out the car. But that was also driving it down to 0% (which you wouldn't do normally), and from what I can tell - he also had the smaller 19" tyres on the model he was driving during the test. For anybody who can't be bothered looking for that video... the consumption was 19.6kwh/100km with an outside temp of 13C.

Ordered the P6 version the single motor one. Currently order time to delivery is 9 months in the UK. By far the best value car on our company car list so it was a no brainer to order it. Very expensive car to buy in the UK outright £43000 for the single motor, the p8 dual motor is nearly £60,000

If you click on the range displayed on the centre console, it will open up to the maximum, estimated, and minimum range based on your charge. The average consumption of the recorded range is considered in the estimated range you see. If I fully charge mine, the estimated shows 400, and the maximum shows 450km.

The media system does the job. Also the the range optimiser can help improve range. Any car withe this much power is going to chew the juice unless you drive miss Daisey around.

This car has too much performance for most people - I will be interested to see the single motor version. Also, Apple Car Play these days is a 'must' in a new car.

You never reviewed the single motor variant. Everyone is saying it’s the best value and has sensible acceleration. Yet the list of items NOT in the single motor such as all round cameras in the XC40 T4 is utterly unknown. And now in 2023 we have the P8 which is a single rear motor
Why? What is the spec difference between the twin and single motor variants? Doesn’t anyone know yet?

Enjoyed your review Peter, as always. This EV not for me as a little small, range and infotainment a let down, and a little pricey vs competitors.

The EV transition will never take off until manufacturers can offer electric vehicles that cost on par with ICE cars and have good range for country trips and fast charging. We now have a Chinese EV which is on cost parity but it is let down by lack of good range and slow charging, which relegate it to a town car only. Not good enough!

Unless you live in town and have two cars. Also don’t try owning two electric cars and then deciding to charge them both at home. Doesn’t work

You don't say the car makes 300kw at 0rpm man because it makes no sense. It needs a rev or two to make power. But you can say the motor make 660nm at 0rpm though.

$85k drive away in Australia, looks like it costed half that. I'm seeing some more and more negative customer reviews coming through too. You'd have to be very keen to lay this much money down for Volvo's first go at a poor range EV.

Try and keep your hands still when being filmed, it is distracting and takes away from the information you are trying to present. A tip from a retired Hollywood director.
