- What F1 Upgrades Are Coming To The Monaco GP
After a thrilling Imola Gp we now go in a back to back to the historic Monaco GP. This track is insanely tough and teams will be bringing max downforce so that the drivers can try and claim victory. Alonso has announced updates and Mercedes could have some potential upgrades after some success in Imola. Ferrari have already shown a high downforce rear wing which might show itself in Monaco.

Aston martian downgrades 🔥 🔥 🔥
Signature Aston Martin
I wonder how much of it correlates to using Mercedes' wind tunnel who also has had consistent aero issues?
@@stephensegal5187funny enough mercedes had the same wind tunnel in the pre ground effect era and it always co related. It’s just both the companies not understanding the ground effect era

Aston Martin Grades😂
As an Aston Martin fan, if the Monaco upgrades don't work, I will commit Seppuku.
In Borderline depression since yesterday. Forget about competing with Mercs for 4th. These MFs are slower than Alpine and Stake. Alonso getting mugged by Bottas, Gasly and Ocon was just Pain
@Urgrannytranny I think the strategy was terrible for Alonso. They kept pitting him so Lance gets a chance to score some points. The team has priorities set wrong.
@@TheAYM91haha what?
💀
Météo Monaco good 💯❤
With Aston Martin, the trick is to hope the "upgrades" backfire. The logic being if a downgrade does the opposite of what is expected then that's instant dividends in laptime.
Last year, Monaco was Aston's closest shot to winning a race
This year...getting into Q3 will be lucky
Aston Martin's best upgrade seems to be the disappointment everyone has with them💀
Come on Aston Martin! Last year that was your best race IMHO. Great video - as usual. BRAVO! Love it!
Loving this channel so much!! The edits look great!
Makes me so happy ❤️
In the last Mercedes race debrief, Alison did say they'd have parts every race for the next 4 or 5 races.
Balanced, concise and informative, as usual. Excellent stuff.
❤️❤️
I think with it being 20 degrees for this weekend and McLaren been able to fire up their tyres should play to their advantage
This my new favorite F1 channel, love the quality of the videos man
Found your channel not too long ago and I’m very happy I did. I love this kind of content. Great job on the videos and keep it up.
It’s still so crazy to me that a company/team that has so much money has issues like correlation.
I have no evidence for what's going at Mercedes, but from my project management experience I can imagine it was something like:
- Someone had a big brain moment and said "hey I have a new and innovative method for correlation/data analysis/whatever that will be more accurate/precise/quicker/whatever"
- They build new CFD models, wind tunnel models, and actual parts around this new correlation model
- They discover that the new correlation model actually doesn't work
- They realize they can't just immediately revert to the previous correlation method, because all their references and baselines for the new parts are based only on the new model, so now they basically have no functioning correlation method
- With parts already built and deployed, their only choice is to brute force and redo all the math but backwards, using on-track performance and wind tunnel data to rebuild and validate a new correlation model going backwards to their simulations and CFD, the reverse of the usual process
Again, this is all just a completely unsubstantiated guess. It's also possible that Russell just spilled his tea and fried the only laptop where they had saved "merc2024correlation.xls".
It illustrates just how difficult correlation is. I've been doing it for over 20 years and it hasn't become any easier in that time.
Technically has progressed, but expectations a and dreams have progressed at the same rate.
Really like the editing👍 keep it up!
Bro, I have been following you for 2 weeks now and I must say; you are the most helpful and informative f1 channel on my list.
Just wait... With this channel, soon you'll realize practically all other F1 themed channels, are all click bait

Podium in our home race. Nice! 👏👏👏 Now full focus on the Monaco GP weekend. It's such a historic track and there's always a special atmosphere. Hopefully we can get a great result this year. Avanti ragazzi! 💪 Forza Charles and Carlos! You got this ❤🙏🏻
I’m so sick of Aston Martin. It can’t be just the Mercedes wind tunnel, because at least Mercedes is showing some gains. Aston Martin just looks completely lost. Dan Fallows is not what people thought he was.
It’s another possibility as wel
@@F1Unchained if aston upgrades work iam going bald
@@fan7570you’re probably be dead before that happens 😂
Why are you 'sick' of an F1 team? How old are you?
I think come the mid season break, things at the top will be very tight.
Good to see Ferrari cut down the gap to RedBull from 0.4sec to 0.15 & McLaren further to 0.1.
Constructors championship is going to be a close one but Max is a beast. You need to have a car that is 0.2 secs faster than the Bull to actually beat Max!
Agreed! He’s just so good with barely making any mistakes
In 2021, if you compare Quali data over the entire race season, the Mercedes was 2 tenths faster on average. And Mercedes needed to crash Max out two races in a row and Pirelli tyre failure to come close to him.
Have you thought of doing live watch alongs? I def be interested
It’s definitely something I’ve thought about
I really hope the next few "upgrades" Aston brings actually works and closes the gap between them and the front running teams.........
Interesting, I never thought about the Mercedes WindTunnel, issue. Very enlightening thank you!
Your channel is beast. You tell the truth, you don’t click bait, and I respect that so much. You get to the point, and you give facts and actual updates that are true. Thanks for what you do! I hate and love Moneco. I love the history behind the street course, but I hate how it moslty comes down to how you qualify. The order is pretty much set, and the race is pretty much a game of follow the leader. Until Stroll or Seargent crashes
Can’t wait for Monaco Qualifying, it’s always exciting and sometimes mind blowing. Really think tire management is going to be the key in the race. Minus any safety car twists.
One question I’m more interested in is if Ferrari have a better understanding of the SF-24 EVO going into Monte-Carlo and can optimise it better considering it’s Leclerc’s home event.
My only concern is heating up those tyres, the race pace is gr8 but those final runs in Q3 are really hurting us
@@animeshpati5525 Fax, crazy to see that they have the exact opposite issues compared to 22/23
@@animeshpati5525 They’ve said it’ll be resolved later, the problem is as a fan not knowing when *later* actually is.
Haas announced its first ever Monaco Spec…. That’s pretty nifty, being a haas fan this year has been better than the last lol
And currently 40% chance rain for this Saturday, this can be epic.
Absolutely
Even with more upgrades, passing in Monaco will be almost impossible. They better get their quali right.
Ferrari disappointing as usual, so keeping my expectations very low as a fan of theirs.
we're conditioned to it at this point
@MoGumbo_
I've been used to it for the past 12 or so years, unfortunately.
It sucks, but at least we're not williams fans..
You think upgrades only work during the race?
Someone else made a comment like yours.
Baffling.
@@procatprocat9647 "Even with a faster car, passing in Monaco is impossible so they better get Quali right". That's what OP meant
Upgrades? It is Monaco, the entire race is on qualifying day.
You need upgrades and track specific optimisations at Monaco in order to qualify well.
Looking forward to monaco sooo much!
You should start a f1 podcast man.
Really telling isn't it, if Mercedes and Aston are using the same wind tunnel that raises some serious questions about the correlation in that facility and probably paints a pretty bad picture for the future development of those 2 cars
The Mercedes upgrades actually worked because it was meant to address the correlation issues, but you guys are too quick to think that they didn't
Their wind tunnel worked perfectly fine from 2014-2021.
@RikiJasmin the rules are fundamentally different to pre 22.
Bro. That peace at the end sounded a lit sadder than usual. Hope you’re all right
I see a gp2 upgrade meme incoming from alonso at monaco😂
What happened to Aston :(
Either their upgrades didnt work or they couldnt get a working setup
Correlation problems
@@F1Unchained so they will be much better in Monaco?
Ferrari finished 8 seconds behind RB. That is clearly a sign that the upgrades got worse in Imola than in China.
It took me a full year to realize that Aston Martin aren't better than Merc. They're getting closer to Haas and Williams. Idk how a team can go from constant podiums in their very first race to this
Bro GREAT CONTENT as ususal! Man Monaco is a very prestegious race, but its outdated. Kinda of a boring race. They should replace it with another track. It seems almost pointless bring upgrades to Monaco. The track is high downforce and mechanical grip.
Aston martin made a copy of redbull in 2023 , and now they have no idea on how to upgrade it
I think the upgrades are just going to track specific and then removed after the race no?
Yes more then likely
if ferrari can find a way to gain tad bit more pace in quali , their race results would be much better and potentially up for actual race wins moving forward along with mclaren
i think in imola quali the ers and sector 1 straight set them back but good news no long straights in monaco given leclerc has worked a lot on outlap i expect him to absolutely push very hard in this weekend quali in imola difference between charles lap and max was only 2 tenths it should be much closer in monaco leclerc pole is not impossible
@@mo215300 spot on! and a monaco win for charles is long overdue
@@mo215300ferrari used too much ers For The middle sector amd to make the car not spin out, used a bit more downforce, but this made them lose time in s1
@@betelgeuse227 yes the good thing is in monaco this issue will not happen the issue will be speed in slow corners and traction out of it if ferrari can nail it with their supposed high load rear wing and traction they will be extremely competitive in monaco
Our F1 Upgrades John wick ❤
7 races in and Mercedes are still looking for a performance baseline. That means they are way behind compared to McLaren ferrari and redbull
Ive heard the mercedes gearbox could be the issue for merc and aston
It’s not the McLaren has the same gearbox.
Not gearbox casing
it could be. mclaren have their own gearbox which is a big advantage to them compared to these guys
I think McLaren use’s Mercedes gearbox however they make the housing for it in house which allows them to make their own rear suspension.
People seem to think the rear suspension for the merc that Aston also uses is one of the problems.
Merc really need Lewis to out-qualify George to show their true pace
I kinda hope maybe one of RBR car gonna have a breakdown like last year so we can see how far has their floor evolved
I do wonder how many floors we are gonna see this weekend!
Wasn't a breakdown, it was Checo going too hot into T1
@@jok3r906so it was a mental breakdown 🤣
what teams would be stronger in monaco?
It’s tricky but Aston, Merc, rb, should all be really good
I'm going for ferrari. They always seem to go well on slow circuits
@@BoyeeSmudger I have a feeling Lando will do really well here seeing his past results. but I agree, Ferraris will be strong

Fernando will definetly look at that Mercedes seat with more interest
I don't understand how AMs are messing up so badly .. every time they bring upgrades they making slower or worse...AMs are good at bringing downgrades...I will be more worried instead of being happy when I come to know they bringing upgrades.
BRING ME THA UPGRAAAAADES!!!!!!
😁❤️
I heard that😂😂😂
I’m gonna start legitimately praying every morning and night that Aston can turn this season around. I can’t see papa like this 😢
Let’s go Norris! He definitely have a chance to win in Monaco !
Even the alpine has been racing with Aston Martin
Fernando Alonso curse
After the man signed long contract, the table turned around 🤔
“Gp2 aerodynamic moment” on the way, when alpine ovetakes alonso..
Where/When did Allison say the correlation has improved at Mercedes?
Rain for qualifying please. Followed by dry race day.
Sainz was quoted “Next weekend is all about qualifying again. This package isn’t optimized for Monaco. We need to look at the details of what didn’t work.” Can Ferrari have a revised package that gets them near the top?
We are slowly beginning to understand that the 'tire' management aspect is more important than top speed. Ha-ha
Fact!! As an old F1 fan, accepting the fact that traditional car setup values have changed so much is baffling. ha-ha
Once again, I feel Williams will have nothing to offer for this race, leaving Alex and Logan to struggle through the weekend. What a shame. Thank you for another excellent video.
Man i dont know how you make Monaco exciting, but you did! 😂😂😂 Please stick to what you do. Too many people are leaning into the drama of F1. Its not bad, and cam be fun, but this is where its at. Always. 🙏🏾
Always my friend don’t you worry. I’m glad I always got you around as wel 😁❤️
*Charles, Daniel, Carlos + 2024 = 🏆🏆🏆*
I was thinking maybe Mercedes need a new wind tunnel or simulator 🤔
Euro tour
I feel like Ferrari are the better team at slow corners
They are good at being slow. Not at slow corners
Something tells me… that we’re going to have another close Q3 in Monaco!
We all clowned on McLaren and their "JUST WAIT TILL OUR NEW WIND TUNNEL IS DONE! WE'LL SHOW YOU ALL!" excuses for the better part of 2 years, but honestly... they got it online and immediately got their shit together. Maybe Merc's wind tunnel is just flawed/old/broken/whatever and they haven't figured it out yet. The two cars built using it seemingly go backwards.
Mercedes suspension is much worse than the rest of the grid. The had a really complex and probably the best suspension before the price cap. This suspension seems to be holding back along with the power unit
It's not the suspension, that would've been very apparent during the pre-season tests but they confirmed it's working as it should be. Seems like Mercs problems are mostly aero based
@@Shea-austin the aero based problem asides mercedes seem to be having suspension. They switched from their actuated suspension to normal suspension after 2021.
It’s still not the suspension, the switched from the different configuration of floor in Bahrain which lead to a lot of problems after. Mercedes is not looking all out performance but massive consistency no matter the setup.
@@Shea-austin mercedes had good pace in Bahrain. They topped FP2. The car is inconsistent overall and slow compared to the rivals
Alanzo - the guys last name is Alonso, he's not from Mexico
how would the wind tunnel at merc be a problem for aston martin
they still use it as aston martins wind tunnel has yet to come online fully
Really Monaco is testing for Mexico downforce levels! Also Im wondering if Perez will make it a Monaco hatrick of showing off the Red Bull floor...
I would love Aston Martin is bought off by aramco and the strolls are kicked out , i want the force India form back
Sometimes I think that Alonso is downgrading his driving to make Lance to look better to Aramco …
Back to subject I believe Mercedes have a bit more chance at imola
I agree because as long as Lance is fighting HAAS or Alpine, he at least looks somewhat competent
Ashton are preparing for moon race ,they don't need upgrades
Moonraker. Alonso is Spanish Bond.
Daddy Stroll as Drax
@@Karma2Babylon 🤣🤣🤣🤣✌️✌️✌️
I’m looking forward to seeing what the downforce advantage redbull will have over McLaren and Ferrari.
I can see redbull maybe struggling with getting temps in the tryes for quali so maybe won’t get pole and may struggle to overtake the Ferrari and McLaren on raw pace.
Idk if you noticed but Redbull is better in Quali than both Ferarri and Mclaren lol. 8 straight poles.
@@stevenst6337 if it wasn’t for the haas the mclarens would of gotten pole at imola
@@magicjack4076 getting tows in Quali from random cars happens literally every quali session. Its called being smart.
McLaren Upgrades = Improves significant pace
RedBull Upgrades = Improves pace but not by much
Mercedes Upgrades = Stays Exactly on same pace with other teams
Aston Martin Upgrades = Even slower than before
Ferrari Upgrades = Overhype and stay at same pace
I think Ferrari improved a little, but agree tifosi and Italian media made it seem like we were gonna be like a full second/lap faster
Red Bull needs something that can give em a few tenths. Otherwise McLaren runs an extremely real chance of being contenders for the WCC.
Agreed
No worries, will be Verstappens second championship which where his team didn’t even win the constructors. Something nobody on the current grid has ever done in their careers.
Xavi image😢
Its a bit comical how well Mclaren has done as a Mercedes customer team
C'mon Perez! Pop it in the wall for us. We need some photos.
I’m predicting a McLaren pole and win, unless Max can put up a godly lap again…
Aston Martin downgrades is vicious work. f1unchained may actual be f1unhinged 😂 😆
Aston Martin is downgrading the car so Lance can fight HAAS, Alpine, and Williams and at least look somewhat competent.
Ah yes, more upgrades from Aston Martin...
I thought you were going to say "Aston Martin brought rally parts" with that clip of Alonso 🤣🤣
Problems for aston will not be solved until they have there own gearbox which i think they will not make it until 2026, they still use Mercedes gearbox and there whole rear end is half mercedes so in this equation if mercedes is x bad then aston will be 2x bad and williams will be 4x bad. Mclaren is performing better bcoz they make there own gearbox which let them control the rear design of car. Also mclaren got the new wind tunnel which is the the most recent wind tunnel in f1 industry so i think the data deficit between wind tunnel and on track is negligible which gives them edge over otherS. Another one is mclaren also create there own suspension. In case of aston they took half red bull and half mercedes and made a Frankenstein monster. This monster was performing last year well bcoz of the flexi wings but since fia silently ban the flexi wings last year there performance also drastically dropped. Anyways so I think until the wind tunnnel issue is solved or aston use there own wind tunnel they will continue to struggle.
So the aston to perform well wind tunnel issue should be solved or we have to wait till 2026.
Monaco is done at qualifying and some dnfs on the way
Why does Aston Martin make a base car that good to ok
, then upgrades are shit. WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON
can you just imagine if Alonso puts in pol on Monaco, 6 cars behind him will push like hell during Sunday and Alonso Defending.
🙏
❤👍
The only upgrade AM need and have needed for a very long time is to replace Lance Stroll. He has no place in F1.
Wish we could skip Monaco and go straight to Canada 😅
Aston martin needs to hire Adrian Newey at any cost ...Dan Fallows has fallen like a cliff
Monaco is not a circuit that has much leverage out of upgrades.
