  • Over the course of a couple of days we transformed our basic grocery getter 3.6 VR6 Atlas into a beefed up adventurer. With the addition of our prototype lift kit, wheels and tires, roof racks, body cladding and more, this MQB truck is ready for all the dirt and rocks it can handle.

I did not expect something like this from a channel with so few subscribers, from the project itself to the shooting and the editing, this is so underrated. I can feel your passion and love through the image. Needless to say, FANTASTIC!

    ahhh, th benefits of a lift and a brand new car with no rust or road grime....going to a place where the manufacturer left off; nice. Maybe this will inspire VW to tap into the market; but it should be more fun building it yourself. Sure, they had a few "off-road"/"overland" creations at launch/SEMA, but mainly for attention grabbers and not actual floor models. Good luck with the build; look forward to future videos. Cheers.

    I wish they put lockers an a transfer case like they did in their older SUV

    • @ryanthomastew
      @ryanthomastew Год назад +3

      You're so right. Too bad it was only first gen Touregs that got the real off-road abilities (Porsche Cayenne too). Honestly I wouldn't even mind if VW just offered rear, center and even front locking diffs with special 10 speed ZF auto that had a "crawler" 1st gear that only engaged off-road. This would eliminate the 400lb transfer case and get most of the off-roading abilities through the locking diffs (and some good AWD programing). The other 9 gears would be great for highway driving and perhaps help a little with MPG if the 9th gear kept RPM's lowish at 75-80 MPH.
      It would be nice if this was just an option you could pick from the factor -- VW could keep on selling the Atlas in its more standard road and soft-roading form for 90% of the people who get these.

    • @blackforestind
      @blackforestind  Год назад

      275/60R20 would Likely be pushing it a bit. It could work but it could require modification to the car, or a 3"+ lift (which would require suspension/subframe/axle modifications). The 265/65/18" tires on the Atlas in the video are roughtly 31.5" overall size, whereas the 275/60/20 would be a 33" tire.
