- 4-6-0 5043 'Earl of Mount Edgcumbe' heads The Elge Explorer excursion from Tyseley to Ely, arriving in Ely in unexpected bright sunshine at about 11.45.
Later, at 15.22 the train departs in somewhat duller weather on the return trip, passing Ely riverside.
The loco made a round trip light engine to March to turn. A trip of 40 miles tender first, not too pleasant for the crew!
Nice shots Peter. I am happy i didn't go to Ely Station after seeing how packed it was.
Lovely shots Peter, you were lucky to get a bit of sunlight whilst 5043 was at Ely! That engine always looks immaculate and well turned out - Hayden
Lucky break with the sun, apparently drizzle elsewhere. After the arrival of 5043 I raced over to Offord to see 60009 (see video ;-) ) then back to Ely to get the departure, at which time the weather had reverted to gloom.
A well anticipated spot on that busy platform & a cracking departure location Peter, very nice, regards,Brian.
Thank you. Quite surprised myself on the spot I picked on the platform, a crowd ten yards in front and another ten yards behind, with this nearly empty area between!
Great video, of a great loco Peter, thanks for sharing, cheers...Bill
