My Game Was Boring... Until I DELETED THIS!

  • In this devlog, I show how I found and fixed a dominant strategy that was making my game less fun to play. I changed the weapons and enemies which made the game more balanced, and therefore, improved the overall gameplay experience.

    Hey. Thanks for your vid. I loved the style of it. It's both entertaining and informative. Have you considered other options to boost the gameplay, such as Doom with health on melee, ammo on shooting deaths? Some other ideas are smashable items with ammo/health pickups, exp to pick up on enemy death, and a satisfying sound for pickups.

      Thanks! I was thinking about style meter like in DMC, and various abilities that help the player to navigate quickly from enemy to enemy. But at the moment of the end of this devlog I was kind of sick of this game already, so I shelved it for a while and switched to other projects.
      If I return to this project, I will probably reshape it in some way, since right now it's just "another one roguelike"

    Try make the enemy drop health if you killed them in close range like doom

      ​@@genych_dfkthe way doom deals with this problem is by just making the punch extremely weak (in doom eternal it literally deals 1 dmg).
      But for your game that wouldn't make sense I think
