Boy, that one took me back in time. My aunt always brought her chocolate delight whenever we had big family gatherings. I remember she used peanuts in her crust, and it seems like she added gramcrackers to her flour crust mixture as well. It was a family favorite. She made a blueberry one too, which was very good, but the chocolate was always my favorite. 😋
i had this recipe from my late mother in law in 1975. but i lost it so its nice to have it once again. i will chop my pecans more like in my late MIL recipe had me doin. but i love the pistachio the most...i forgot i can use pistachi puddin too i just googled the temp for pyrex dishes and it is 450 degrees F. whew. thats great.
When we made this it was called: "7 Layer Chocolate Delight" ... and it was Delicious, (Because we made it with Homemade Pudding or the Jello Pudding that must be cooked). (... and I make and have Homemade Vanilla Extract, Vanilla Beans from Madagascar) 🚫 No Instant Pudding was allowed in our House, lol, (My Parents were Professionals, Owned Restaurants all ther lives.) The pecan crust 1) The Cream Cheese layer, 2) The French Vanilla Pudding layer 3) A layer of Whipped Cream 4) The Chocolate Pudding layer 5) another layer of Cream Cheese 6) a layer of either regular Vanilla or Chocolate Pudding 7) Layer of Whipped Cream Sprinkle top with Slivered Almonds, or Shaved Dark Chocolate, or both ... 🏅 It takes longer but there is no comparison, I've tasted the Instant version and it is not close. 🔑 We use plastic wrap over the pudding to prevent the skin that forms. 🔑It's best to prepare the puddings in the morning or a day ahead, and then it goes Quick Chill 3 hrs minimum before serving. You must; Treat Yourself to this Original Version and ENJOY!!! Beth Tennessee, USA
I have made this dessert for many years and it is always a hit. I always bake mine on 350 degrees and it does fine. I normally use a glass baking dish so that works better for me.
@@kimstout6419 my recipe says to cook, but not brown. It is flaky, but not browned at all. I cook it about 15 minutes until done to touch but not brown.
Yummy! Perfect Easter dessert. I am mom to a chocolate kiss and a lemon drop, haha. I think I would split the base recipe in two and go from there? One large pudding box per flavour? Excellent tip about a glass dish. I didn't know that. I am going into your store to find that mixer you're using today. The one I have is the pits. It's supposed to have six speeds. The first one I purchased had two speeds (even though it was supposed to have six): whip it and whip it good. So I returned it and purchased a second (the same as it was the only style they had and I really needed a hand mixer that day.) The second one does not perform like yours does - definitely not a low setting like that! And, not sure about yours because because you set the mixer on the rim of the bowl, but when I set mine down in-between scraping and adding ingredients, it falls on the beaters because the motor isn't in the tail, it's up front, so it's top/forward heavy. Back in the day, the motors were in the rear so you could just sit the mixer on end. So frustrating, 'today'. Thanks again, Tammy and Chris! God Bless
Hi Tammy & Chris! Hearing the magic words "chocolate" and "dessert" was all took for my crew to head to Publix to pick up a couple of the needed ingredients. From the sound of things in the kitchen, looks like we'll be enjoying a taste of another of your delectable desserts in a little while! Thanks so much for another video, y'all! 🌞
Love you, love your channel and love the new introduction and getting straight to the recipe. Don’t forget to add Our Lord’s scriptures, I always looked so forward to hearing them.
The intro was from a few years ago. I like it also but really enjoy Tammy's conversations with us. If you just want recipes buy her cookbooks but keep your negative comments to yourself
@@joycemiraglia280she was not being rude but, with kindness, I feel you are being unkind in return to her feedback which was complimentary. She stated with kindness and respect - and I agree that she loved the channel and recipes but misses the Bible verses. Tammy is a Christian and with our Lord she stands. Also, loved the old intro, it just got you in the mood and is like changing a major theme song of a long running TV show. The other one spoke of “Tammy was going to show you how to cook it up like Mama used to do” (grandma in my case as well). It was catchy and made you remember. This intro is generic though Tammy is great. God bless you Tammy and Chris @collardvalleycooks
I've had this at a "home-style" diner in my town-yours looks much better than theirs, which lacks the pecans in the crust and the cream cheese layer. Thanks for sharing such a fun, simple recipe, Miss Tammy!
My husband and I love this dessert. He likes it frozen. So I cut up several squares and freeze in Tupperware bowl. When my son was a senior the class was having a supper and the dessert was 4 layer chocolate dessert. My jib was to make this. My son is now 42. I pulled this recipe out for a family gathering at my house recently and made this. In my recipe it calls for a chocolate and a vanilla instant pudding mixed together. By the way I love your kitchen remodel. Hope your feeling better.
Ohhh Man!!!! Tammy you Always make The BEST Desserts 🍮 that make me want to make 👩🍳and run n Hide to keep for Myself😜😋But I guess I’ll share the Goodness with my family and friends. I plan to make it for Easter Sunday lunch 👩🍳😋😋😋😋🦩
Thank you for this video! This is one of my all time favorite desserts 😍 but one that is right on the same plane as chocolate delight is Blueberry delight! Or as we called it, blueberry dessert. The crust was usually graham cracker but I think I would love it with the pecan crust just as well if not better. It's made the same except it has blueberry pie filling but no cool whip on top. Oh it's so good! Love your channel! God bless you and Chris ❤
Love your cooking and your narrative Tammy. I’m from Canada 🇨🇦 and enjoy southern home cooking. I’ve seen that mixing fork in a local big box store kitchenware department and I’m going back to get me one. I’m hooked on that mixing fork after watching you demonstrate its ease of use. Thank-you for sharing! ❤🙋🏼♀️
My mother used to make the crust out of crushed vanilla wafers and pecans, and then used banana pudding with some sliced bananas added and it was one of the best deserts I think she ever made. A great memory from childhood.
Hi Tammy from Akron, Ohio. Yes this is one of the best desserts!! Yes my momma is 93 ( her birthday is 4-14-24 and she will be 94) and she still cooks a big meal every Sunday and at least one Sunday a month mommy makes this dessert!! Sometimes chocolate and sometimes it’s pistachio!! They are both sooo good. May God keep on blessing you, Chris, and your channel. 🥰
Tammy, I keep my house at 66 too! I can’t stand heat blowing in my face. If I want more heat I throw wood in the fireplace. I love the smell of wood burning. I double my cream cheese mixture bc it’s my favorite layer! I’ve been making this dessert for years bc it is so delicious and my family loves it!
Hi Tammy!!! This dessert looks mighty delicious. I will make it one day. Sending this to my family. I know they would enjoy this also...YUMS!!!...Great Video!!!.. 🦋
This chocolate delight is so delicious I love and I will be making again. Everyone loves it to I gave them the recipe and they said they are going to make to make it. Love you and your channel ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Watching you scrape the bowls made me grin.never realized what a spatula was for growing up.mother wouldn't use one in order for us kids to eat batters for cakes icing etc.
my favorite is the lemon lush, using one box of lemon and one box of vanilla/ I think for St. Paddy's day, I would still use the chocolate, but use 2/3 cup of Bailey's Irish Cream with 3 1/3 cup milk
I have a recipe similar called chocolate lasagna. It uses ground up oreos and butter for the crust but no nuts (I can't eat nuts anymore). Another one I have is pumpkin lasagna which uses the blond oreos in the crust and a pumpkin filling. They are both delicious and whenever I make them for family reunion etc people always want the recipe for it.
Hi Tammy! I have made this for years in several flavors. Chocolate was the first and is so yummy! I have also done lemon and butterscotch, both are wonderful. I substitute walnuts for pecans as I am allergic to pecans. The name of my recipe is "Sex in a Pan". I will now call it Chocolate Delight!
That's very much like the Chocolate Lusch I made in the 70's except I used Walnuts in crust, spread the cool whip mixture on the cooled crust then the pudding topping. I then sprinkled finely chopped walnuts on the top, delicious!! Melaney from SoCal
Sorry, I misspoke. I meant the cool whip cream cheese mix on the crust, then pudding and topped with cool whip like you did. I always put finely chopped walnuts on top too. Again, we called it Chocolate Lusch.
Kathie says…I love this dessert!! Butterscotch is my favorite, but all of the flavors are great! I make this for St. Patrick’s Day every year, using Instant Pistachio Pudding with a little bit of green food coloring to bring a wee bit more of “Irish” out!!!
My mama used to call this, "Nickerbocker Pie". It was always a HIT. It is crazy 'versatile'. One can use just about ANYTHING for the layer that tops the cream cheese layer. I had a fresh pineapple that I prepared then made a 'curd' with it. I poured that curd over the cream cheese layer then topped it with more whipped topping. YOIKS! Wow! And that CRUST!!! Imma STOP making regular pie crusts & just use this crust for ALL my pies. THE. BEST! Thank you for your channel & for sharing these great recipes.

I had something similar to this when I was a kid...it was called fat man's delight....I think it had coconut and strawberry in the layers. The crust was like a shortbread with chocolate chips and pecans.
Hi Tammy,This looks delicious my cousin makes a chocolate delight a lot but she uses oreos in hers ,I made your chicken and dumpling recipe for supper tonight I never had used the cream of chicken soup to make them before, they were absolutely delicious.
Hello from Mocksville, North Carolina!❤ This is such a good dessert 🍫😋 I have a stack of boxes of Jell-O that expired over a year ago. Some are pudding, and others are gelatin. What's your opinion? Would you use OR throw away?
Well was going to bake this for my hubby's 33rd receiving of his award for AA today but as I was outside feeding the birds and came in I smelled something not good, and I asked the timer how much time was left and they said 20 seconds of my 15 min timer! It's all burnt!!!! I'm done off to the bakery I go. I knew 450 was too high. I looked at it before I went outside which was only for 5 min and it was just turning light brown around the edges but oh mama did it go south fast! Next thing is a temp. gage for that dad gummit oven to see if it's off or not. Ok I remade the crust tried it again and it was delicious and everyone wants your recipe! Thank you...
I love cool so my winter house temperature is 66 at night 67 to 68 if cold and rainy. Michigan our house was about 50 in the bedrooms and warmer in the living room and kitchen because we heated with wood burning stove and solar. South Georgia I need air conditioner on 67 at night 68 daytime. I know you might not believe it but Michigan was warmer than lots of days in South Georgia. Coldest place on earth in winter because of humidity. Houses are not insulated as well.
Oh my goodness I'm in Heaven! I love love love this recipe. Glad to see you feeling better! Your nails look very pretty. Much love to you both. Blessings from Birmingham 🙏
I guess I need a blending Fork. I've always had to use my hands for doing that and cutting the butter or lard in. I want to try that blending fork. Thank you for such great instructions.

this is very scare, my cat is sad

Good tip about the glass pan! I had one shatter on me before. I never knew about the temperature versus the type of dish being used.
My grandma used to make this at holidays when I was a kid. She also made potato candy 🍫❤️🎄I loved them both!
Chocolate pudding is my favorite. I could eat half of that by myself! 😋 🥰
My mother made the lemon one and it was really good. I have only had the chocolate once or twice, but it was really good as well.

This is my favorite dessert. Thanks for sharing.
My mother made this too ! She also made this with butterscotch pudding ,it is Wonderful 👍

I guess I need a blending Fork. I've always had to use my hands for doing that and cutting the butter or lard in. I want to try that blending fork. Thank you for such great instructions.
So glad you made this. My aunt used to make this and we always had her make it for family reunion dinners!! Now I have the recipe. Thanks
