⚠️ People are aware of the huge shift happening from linear TV to #streaming, but they're missing why #ROKU is absolutely dominating and what makes it one of the best tech stocks. Roku has 50% more hours streamed than Amazon Fire (AMZN stock) and 6X the watch time of Apple TV (AAPL) and Google TV (GOOG). In this episode, I explain exactly what Roku does differently and why could be one of the best stocks to buy now.

Great analysis and you’re absolutely correct about ROKU dominating in the USA. In the past I used both the Amazon firestick and Goggle Chromecast. ROKU in my experience is superior to both. It’s one of many reasons why I bought a top of the line 75 inch TLC widescreen just over a year ago which has the ROKU operating system built in. As you mentioned it’s all about the software and it works seamlessly with my TLC to give a very pleasant viewing experience. It’s also very easy to use and never had an issue with it.

While, I understand that this video is more about an evaluation of Roku stock and less about its streaming players. About 5-years ago decided to by a new streaming player and, I needed to select between the Apple TV box and a Roku Ultra unit. However, around this same time Apple, Inc. decided to permit Roku to use their Apple TV plus software to gain users. So, by going with Roku, I got the best of both worlds all my years of iTunes movie and TV shows, and all the other services on the Roku platform at a lot lower price than for an Apple TV box (smile...smile).

@@TickerSymbolYOU It's great upgrade to my TV for a very low price point. My TV came with an atrocious remote control and the native OS didn't allow me to install some third-party apps like appletv. The voice control is a nice feature. Automatic Volume Leveling is great too, no more getting pissed the f-off when commercials come on. I don't know why I waited so long to get this product. For $30 I solved my shitty remote control problem and I discovered that there was a Foundation tv series.

A lot can be inferred about TV viewing habits when you have user's search history and emails, plus data from existing Google TVs to cross reference it with. As smart TVs get cheaper and cheaper with better chips, the value prop of being able to run on a cheaper chip will diminish and the moat from this will also disappear over time. Great explanation on why Roku TVs are winning ... low CPU load leading to cheaper TVs with smooth navigation. Can you do an update on how the market is shaping up today? Just walking around Target, Walmart, and Costco, it seems Vizio, LG and the Roku TVs (Hisense, TCL, etc) are dominating even more. Samsung seems lost as they are being forced to slash prices. It seems Samsung is going to try Google TV, but that seems like s lose-lose pairing. Will Fire TVs ever be sold at stores like Target or Walmart? It seems Toshiba now makes Fire TVs, but they only seem available on Amazon. Vizio and LG might be the only brands that can stay independent. I do like Vizio's interface, but the apps are limited.

I have the concept of a “smart” TV. I would rather all the TVs just be a TV and we buy a streaming devise of our choice. Keep the operating system just be focused on the best picture. Apple also does cross platform viewing. It tells me where something is streaming and keeps track of where i am in a show and i don’t have to pull up the app to get there, I just click on the show in Apple’s menu.

Regardless, I prefer roku over its competitors because it works so well and because it’s independent. I really don’t want google on my tv. You say consumers would prefer another platform but provide no evidence nor logical reasoning for why that’d be the case.

I don' believe that is the case. Plenty of people prefer the Roku OS over other options. An excellent example is for the no- tech savy. Roku is by far the easiest OS to use. Give your grandmother a Firestick and a Roku and see which one they like better.
Side note have you used Edge lately(since it's switch to Chromeum). It has improved alot and added nearly all the features that made other browsers better. Even a few that others don't have, like "Collections", that are great. But more importantly it is faster and uses way less resources than other browsers.

You're talking about the past. Roku's days are numbered "now." It's that simple. Most of the larger television manufacturers are "now" moving to Android TV. Both Google and Amazon in the early days blocking each other, opened the doors for Roku.
Roku's lacking of storage and memory are its Achilles heel. Its design limits any AI and advanced user interface. All of our Roku's are being phased out in our home. Well they're present they're not being used in the lieu of both Android TV and Apple TV.

Give me a break!! Where do I see advertising on my AppleTV?? How about a deep dive in the UI … comparison between AppleTV and ROKU?? I have multiple AppleTV’s around the house - they are all kept in synch seamlessly … it’s functionality like this and the UI design I’m prepared to pay a premium for … advertising?? What advertising?? The only reason ROKU has the ‘market share’ is because of its price. It’s cheap. You get what you pay for.

Definitely great info to know. I didn’t know a lot of this stuff about Roku, I had no idea about the advertising data, so great research! Gotta say I have a TCL Roku TV and it sucks though, ended buying an AppleTV for my other TVs because they just worked better.

Roku does have some flaws.. Roku TVs only come with the a remote Roku provides. The Roku remote needs to face directly at the TV in order for it to work. If you have a stand alone Roku you will still have to point the remote to the device for it to work, but it's more of a pain when you have a Roku TV as you will have to deal with this for everything you do on the TV. on side note.. It would be nice if Roku had a browser, no reason why they can't include one Even if it's bare bones..

Your video illustrates exactly why Amazon is likely to ditch Android for it's own OS. I was going to buy a Roku express, until I found out that they do not have native VPN apps, rather you must install on your router. I really like both Fire stick and Roku alot though. There's benefits to both.

I had ROKU for many years since i cut the cord , but changed up to Chromecast TV dongle with remote, extended the storage on it with USB-HUB & lovin it , since i am Google & You tube Tv user, Roku only good0 thing about Roku is Roku channel & is free.. bad about it ... they didnt update the interface since 2005 & always fight with this APP & that or gets removed, but all of them is same shyt streaming devices

Roku and Apple TV have the worst user interface. Google TV and Fire TV do a better job at integrating all of your paid and free streaming services in one location as well as Live TV

I call BS, I own every streaming device, minus the NVIDIA Shield. Roku is constantly losing channels. If anything, they have less channels than everyone else. On top of that, Roku and Apple TV interface just sucks. Fire TV and Google TV does a better job at integrating all; of your streaming services as well as live TV in one location.

80% of the smart TVs will come with RUclips, Amazon, Netflix apps pre-installed in the future, as it's happening with many Android phones. The idea behind Roku was brilliant, but Android TV, Tizen for Samsung and WebOS for LG will eat it's lunch. 500$ smart TVs come a decent operating system today.

I have those apps built in to almost every TV I have and don’t use any of them. I only use Roku due to its superiority. I just don’t like the Android environment on any device. I would guess you use an Android based phone as well and I use an Apple. People like what they like.

The best way to find growth stocks, key features to keep in mind is as follows: 1. Ensure gross margins are greater than 50% 2. Ensure P/E ratio is less than 100 3. Buy companies that are PROFITABLE, very important irrespective of sector. 4. Debt to equity ratio is less than 30% 5. Current ratio is above I 6. and a Float under 100 million One stock that fits the bill is FLGT (Fulgent)

I personally hate their product. It's the worst. I don't care how much market share they have. Android and Apple TV integrate with other devices and platforms like your phone, computer, RUclips, etc which is something roku does not have access to. Furthermore, machine learning when applied to movies and tv shows is extremely inaccurate imo. Netflix and all other movie providers rarely recommend things that I like, so the data is worthless imo. RUclips algo is way better because there's more granular features and content for the AI to learn from. Just my opinion, but I hope you all do well on your positions.

Roku is an underrated advertising company. Hardware (entry-level devices, RokuOS licensed to TV manufacturers) is the gateway to the ecosystem. The company earns from every ad displayed (first-party inventory: 100%, third-party inventory: 30%). In my opinion, Roku should reduce its marketing costs and invest in original content: Acquiring small studios and expanding the Roku Channel globally

Not discounting some of your points but from my point of view, roku falls short of the competition. I bought a TCL Roku tv and I regret it, won’t buy a roku device again. Why you ask? This might not apply to everyone but I keep finding things that it’s just completely incapable of doing.
First is apps. Sure you get the basics but that’s about it. All the other apps available for download are trash and it’s very restricted. I use IPTV services and there is no official way at all to use IPTV on roku. That’s huge for me because I’d rather not use my fire stick for IPTV when the TV itself should be allowed to do this.
Second is VPN and network settings. VPN just isn’t allowed period. My VPN provider can let me configure devices to be on the vpn through changing DNS servers, but there is another problem, I can’t even change DNS settings!
I generally do like the TV itself, and the Roku OS is laid out well but I simply can’t do what I want with it. I regret not paying a bit more and getting an android based TV.

12:30 The higher marketing spend and the competition from amazon , apple, google is the same thing. Why else would they need to spend more on marketing if there was no competition and they had an infinitely better product? Just look at Tesla , they had neither for a while and they spent 0 on marketing
