I looked up as many of the item numbers on the boxes as I could and put in the shop button. You can’t hardly find them searching on the Lowe’s app any other way
Klein was just sitting and waiting for their move to Lowe’s, to release what appears to be years of backed up tool ideas. The pipeline is kind of wild now a days. Considering how stagnant it was for years.
@@MORGANSMaintenance Yeah, without insider information, it's difficult to know for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if Klein didn't renew their contract with Home Depot, so they could become Lowe's flagship brand. It makes sense if it looks like Lowe's is scaling back their ToughBuilt and Lennox inventory.
@JeffLMisc Home Depots near me still carry some Klein, but not much. If they haven’t scaled back their stock in Canada, maybe they have different plans for Canada, or Klein’s contract with Canadian Home Depots just hasn’t expired yet.
Regardless if these tools were from a backlog of unreleased tools or not, Klein is killing it with some of these releases and really capitalizing on diversifying their inventory to their customers

Funny I have been eying some 12” cobras and a 10” pliers wrench… I think I’ll give the Klein a try for the reason you mentioned with respect to spotting the handles and grabbing them out of a pouch. Not surprised Klein went this way since on commercial electrical jobs these types of pliers are commonly used.
That is weird... I didn't have him get anything else out of the boxes while I was there... but its odd they make some one place and another somewhere else.

I picked up a set of the 10” water pump pliers today. Major flaw with the grips. The side of the pliers with the button cuts the grip of the other side when gripping 1” and bigger. Can’t decide to just cut the grips like the cobra’s short fore grip or just return them. I also bought a pair of the 10” pliers wrench but left them at work so I cannot find out if they have the same flaw.

klein used to rebrand nws pliers for years as their own now they made these water pump pliers and they are an exact copy of NWS pliers not knipex i wonder if they have a deal with NWS still ive been trying to figure this out since i got these kleins lol
The Kleins are the same as the Knipex, because the yellow handle water pump pliers are made in Germany. Therefore it is easy to assume both are made in the same factory, it’s just Klein is marketing them. I would say it’s just a market share.
As long as the quality stays good. Having to know what Klein is good and which Klein bites big bones doesn't help the brand any; I think that's been pointed out before, either by you or one of the regulars.
Where’d you get last year’s holiday Knipex. I been looking for the past month and only found them on Aliexpress which I have zero experience with. I had two pair and both mysteriously grew legs.
I'm sure Klein looked at other companies branching out and decided to do the same or get left behind. It's a business-size/marketshare decision. That will dilute a brand however. It has to, especially when it's a me-too product. I'm saving for a few Knipex pieces because they are the standard and because they don't have a business need to offer cheaper tools, which lets them keep manufacturing in-house in support of their local labor. I should have bought my linesman's from Klein just for the cliché of it, but mine are an older pair of Craftsman ... and they even have black handles, just like Klein and Knipex special editions LOL. I've made both kinds of purchases over the years, sometimes getting the knock-off and sometimes the original. Regarding plumbing, I recently got Ridgid's regular 10" pipe wrench (about the twice the price of a Husky/Kobalt) and paired it with Milwaukee's 14" aluminum (cheaper than the Ridgid version, etc.) The Ridgid will outlast me --- and it's reparable --- whereas I may break the Milwaukee some day.
