    I did a full day Land Rover experience at Dunkeld with my old man last weekend. I couldn’t believe how capable the discovery was. Definitely a talent compensator for getting you out of everything put in front of it. it’s a shame that most of are never used to their potential. It’s also funny seeing the Taggarts badge. My dad did his apprenticeship with them when it was Taggart and Wilson. It’s now a Lookers dealership.

    They are brilliant off road, if you have one with a locking rear differential, they are unstoppable. Most people will bottle it long before the vehicle will ever struggle, and they take everything in front of them with easy, throw AT’s on them, and they are transformed

    Loved the video, and great camera work, very atmospheric. And I know from trying it’s very hard to make off-road driving look good on camera.

    Excellent video, always great to see an L322 out on the lanes. Some really good lanes - I drove one of the lanes in your video recently (Parkamoor - the one overlooking Coniston Water) and loved the views, though it was tight between the dry stone walls for the Discovery 5!

      Glad you enjoyed mate. Super tight through those walls. Especially hairy in the dark and rain!

    Great vid, thanks for sharing. I have a 58 plate 3.6TDV8. I love it. I bought it for £5000 however I have spent £5000 approx on it since I got it. The main big expense being £3.3K completely stripping and rebuilding the gearbox. It has its niggles, I wouldn't go anywhere without my goloo just in case the battery flattens, however since the gearbox refurb and a new set of Pirelli scorpions it drives amazingly well. I've also done the Land Rover experience in Perthshire, well worth it. Looking forward to some snow. I would agree don't buy one if reliability is at the top of your agenda or if your not mechanically minded and wouldn't have a clue where to fault find if you get stuck somewhere.

    Instant subscribe! I think you nailed it, what makes these so special is that combination of luxury and massive capability. I accidentally took mine up a mountain one night whilst on an impromptu adventure, dunno how I made it up and down but OMG, the car was incredible.

    Great vid, very refreshing to see a complete novice and seeing the realisation of the Range Rovers capabilities. There’s a lot of GL vids out there but this definitely one of the better ones out there. Very respectful to the GL environment too which is unfortunately very rare.👍

    Enjoyed that. I’ve done them a few times in my l405 with the verdas it has on with no problem. Really good fun, if you get chance do the Land Rover experience at coniston and the one at skipton. Easy but great fun.

    L405 actually weighs substantially less than the L322, thanks to generous use of aluminum in its construction. Nice to see an L322 out in the mud though!

    The majority of L322’s didn’t come with locking diff’s buddy. The petrol supercharged models came with a rear locking diff as standard and I think there was a certain model 4.4 tdv8 came with it and that was that. They purely rely on the clever traction control system to get you out of the shit. If you change your screen to the 4x4 Info section there will be a padlock over the rear diff that opens and closes automatically when it thinks you need it if you have a rear locker 👍🏼 the Rangerover is a capable beast off road though! Like off-roading in an armchair! Mate of mine greenlanes a 4.2 supercharged 😬 look us up, “The Welsh Mud Club” 👍🏼

    Nice video, may I ask what tyre size you have on? They look quite nice and sturdy, I have 20” but I am thinking about going down to 18” in order to have more chunky tyres and bigger wheels. Yours look nice and they also “look” quite comfortable off-road (as far as comfort can be looked upon 😅). Nice drive, amazing landscape

    • @OLLIEHEELANDTOE
      @OLLIEHEELANDTOE  Месяц назад +1

      I think they’re 275/55/20. (I don’t have the car anymore to check). Be careful going down rim sizes! If you’ve got the 4.4 the minimum rim size is 20 to get over the big brakes on the front. 👌

    I think calling thr range rover luxurious is not really accurate. I changed from a 2004 lexus to a 2011 tdv8 and it was a downgrade. They're good, they're ok but I wouldn't say luxury having had one for four years

    • @OLLIEHEELANDTOE
      @OLLIEHEELANDTOE  Месяц назад +3

      I’d have to disagree. They’re definitely a luxury product compared to 90% of cars on the road. Especially for the year it was built. (I’ve had 3 now)… Discovery 4 was a massive downgrade. Defender is just a glorified tractor. Even compared to an Aston Martin Vantage, still on par with luxury / comfort.
