Merlin's Magical Story. My Barn Owl's journey from rescue sanctuary to his forever home. Merlin was handed in to the Staffordshire Owl Experience Rescue Sanctuary as his elderly owner could no longer take care of him. The sanctuary was full to capacity and the owner asked if I could help as I was a volunteer. I was only too glad to help and this is the story of mine and Merlin's journey together. Is the name Merlin based on anything? Because in the book/movie "The Sword in The Stone," Merlin the Magician has an Owl named Archimedes.

I think owls fly beautifully. My favourite aeroplane is the Spitfire which I think also flies beautifully and the engine has a distinctive sound as do owls. The Spitfire engine is the Rolls Royce Merlin. That’s why I chose the name. Thanks for the question. 🦉🦉
