  • I have been using magswitches in my workshop for decades and because they are so versatile I use them over and over on making table saw , bandsaw and drill press jig, both for safety and for convenience of making accurate and repeatable results such as for production runs of lumber for various cutting and drilling requirements; but there's more because not everyone has table saws or bandsaws with steel decks on them so now using mitre slot expansion bars can be utilized with some jigs like feather boards to make cutting boards safer on portable saws with composite decks.

I was just watching the video he made where he set up a router table. His production editing, and his comfort with talking to his audience has definitely progressed greatly from 12 years ago. Keep up the great work.

Hey Colin, just to let you know, your tutorial on perfect picture frames has made a vast improvement to my mitred frames, having parts 1 and 3 identical in length and 2 and 4 identical length simplifies the build, thanks for that.😊
All the way from Bonnie Scotland.

They don't drop down inside, there's two different magnets. Switched one way the poles are aligned the other they are opposite. I mostly use mine on the bottom side of my anvil to dampen the vibration making the anvil quieter. I also use it for picking up the mill scale that has fallen off while forging so that I can save it for "Anvil Dust."

Another excellent video! I have a suggestion: In talking about using the double featherboard to space dados, you might consider adding a text overlay pointing out that OF COURSE you would be using a miter gauge to push the wood along. ('Cause I betcha someone out here in viewer land is gonna make a snide comment otherwise.)😊

Colin, could you please ask Mag Switch to include a drilling template or instructions like, "2 x 20mm holes 8mm apart" ? I'm asking you because of your influence!

I'm curious why you don't use a riving knife, though. I've seen one in some of your videos.

4:53 I couldn't quite understand how you would use the set up with the perspex shield to create a straight edge. Is there a video of you using this set up?

Mag switches are great UNLESS you have a table saw (Dewalt 7491) with an aluminum top. Bummer!

Yeah, mine is from Stanley, but I don't think it's magnetic either. 😕

Mag switches are not useful in my shop. Aluminum top saw stop, wooden top drill press, wooden work benches, no use for them at the band saw. I use magnets in the shop but the mag switch has little or no value for me.
