That last Windows Update part should just have stayed at 14% for 20 minutes, then suddenly go to 97% for 17 minutes. Then restart, start over at 0% and sit there for 40 minutes, then go to 40% for 2 minutes, then increment 1% per 10 seconds for the next 2 minutes, then go to 100% and stay there for 5 minutes, then restart and THEN end.
Love it. Creative, cool, great to watch. This is demo scene. And finally a modern demo that is not doing all the same "crazy" effects, precalculated on modern machines and cross developed with generated code.
Boot as in Bootscreens, i get. Also "boot" as in shoewear and how a boot can kick(start). Clever. Yet, the Demo's name is "Das Boot" which means "The boat". 🤔And it usually refers to a submarine movie.
I remember back in the day when we were brainstorming with friends and an idea of a C64 demo with W95 logo.sys & default desktop lookalikes … but never ended up doing it. Others occasionally did, so we obviously weren’t the only ones to come up with the idea :-/
If they're gonna put up the Enterprise bootscreen they could've at least shown the TI-99/4A some love. I know us TI people were a bit niche but no one used an Enterprise.
They should have a V2 of this playing the startup sounds of the machines. Include the big PET startup sound (and screen), the Amiga 1000 startup sound, the Mac startup sound/screen and use the same Apple ][e start beep for the wintel boxes before Windows loads.
There's no hate at all. This demo is a onefiler which means everything you see is stored in that limited 64kbytes, loaded from a single file. This what we had space for, no more kbytes left for any other bootscreens.
@@jimbotron70 Yes, I remember the demo 1.44MB diskette with this great OS from mid 90s. It was very impressive to have entire OS with GUI and a web browser in such a small size!
My life flashed before my eyes
Fucking same!
Wow. This is really really nice one. I hope more computer start ups demos on part II.
The music is soooo jazzy! The sound of the hihat, the bassline, the chords - and the timing! That's just amazing!
The music was SO GROOVY!
Beautiful demo and hommage. Cute idea, executed with humour and gusto!
Windows update into C64 boot screen was a nice one 😂
I loved this one at X. The flow, the rhythm, the music, funny, not too long and coming full circle. Boom!
What a cool idea! (and perfect execution, of course) 👌👍

regular windows experience :D
Perennially idling between 95 and 99%...
Absolutely Awesome Demo!!!
Love it! There's something so oddly charming seeing the Windows XP loading screen running on my C64C

mighty fine demo... totally out of the box
Wonderful. That's progress 🔥
I am SO glad the C64 had that specific default colour combination! ❤
Stunning. Brilliant music too.
Good one. Nice tune!
GENIUS
This is so great and unique., including the word play on title.

@@matt47110815 yes, I meant Das Boot from movie/book and a boot to kickstart computer.
Marvelous!!!
Excellent ! 😍
That windows 10 boot was GOLD
Great demo and great idea ❤️
Very cool demo indeed!
i love this video
This is a masterpiece!
What a great idea for a demo! I notice no atari computers were simulated!
True, interesting..
No MSX systems either...
Very neat! I love it!!!
"Guru Meditation" AAAAAAH THE PAIN 🤣 ... a delicious nostalgic pain ❤
"Guru Meditation" and "It was the Generals fault".
How cute!!
🥰
Haha awesome name! Awesome demo!
Fantastic idea, very original!
Ate lest this one works on a NTSC C=64 thanks that's a neat demo. It bed good if they could have the old Windows start up sound in it.
Awesome
The Guru Meditation made me skip a beat briefly XD
Amazing.

That was quite remarkable.

Interesting that they used a Video Genie instead of a TRS-80. (Ready? vs. Mem size?)
The old Amstrad and Amiga Workbench load screens make me nostalgic...
So cool. And yes, a bit like watching your life go by right in front of you.
So cool.
Love it! Magic on the C64
Really good :)
Great, Commodore-64: The most versatile computer ever. 💪
Wow, even a Videoton got place! 👏
Just wow !!!!
Had to look several times if it is a C64 or a real other machine...
bellissima demo!
The creator of PLAnkton and TOLB says h3ll0 ! Nice work!
Still don't understand why it's called a submarine.
what "submarine" are you talking about ??
@@g.s.6255 Das Boot
It's just playing with words in different languages eg. "Boot" in English refers to the bootscreens, "Das Boot" in German is submarine.

Gold.
nice
I REALY LOVE MY C64 ❤❤❤ FOREVER ❤❤❤❤
Is there support for Windows 12?😁
:D
This demo is the ultimate Windows 12 patch. 😉
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Does C64 Basic crashes at times?
Great song
Linux ?
Oh my
I miss Linux in there.
You missed the BBC micro...
but can it run doom
this sound like a meme to me lmao
Am I sensing Atari hate for not including any of their screens?
Perhaps they run out of space just when they started to do some Atari bootscreens? :D

maximum os confusion after watching this :D
Identity crisis :D
Awesome. Amiga GM error 😂
Windows BSOD 😂
Edit: cool tune too.
Macs not featured, because that's not what real computer nerds use.
Hmm!
[Ti99/4A has left the chat]
:D
Cool OS!
Videogames
no Atari? no TOS? 😉
... and No MacOS/Linux ?
No OS/2 either! :p
No CP/M, no DOS :-)

Running windows 10 on a C64 that is impressive ;)
