My favourite cartoon back from when I was a little kid coupled with my beloved C64! Fantastic, thanks for sharing and kudos to the creator of this wonderful demo 👍
probably none at all .. each object is a vector, composed of a (small) number of 2D points. There is probably a 2nd table showing which object goes at which position for each frame.
@@croolis Even if you do straightforward compression with deltas versus previous point to the left you still end up with hundreds of bytes per frame. Plus an animation compression (where the change versus previous frame starts). But I suspect there must be something else beyond straightforward compression, like caching point sets of the most common curves or a complex render engine which has commands for straight lines and splining
@@petercortens6019 if the objects are separate, as I think, for example the car would be an object, the rattle lines another one etc. there would be a database of objects plus only a few bytes per frame, really to position the objects correctly. It doesn't make sense to, for example, encode the car in each frame.
@@croolis So indeed a "complex" render engine which can handle objects that only change position and also handle objects that change in form. That is compression
Wow, MS2002 (no Alcohol will be sold...)... nach nem Karton voll Energy Drinks von P*nny und ner Flasche Wodka auf der Bierzeltgarnitur in Fallingbostel Turnhalle... Sweet Memories. Einfach nen originelles Demo!
@@ailstI thought Gigi would be the first to come up with this idea, but I was wrong too. Bla Bla Bla was my first contact with this lineman. I made a recording with this demo and a Gigi inspired soundtrack on the C64 about 2 years ago. It fits nice to this Video Animation! If you are interested you can watch it on my MY SID MUSIC playlist 😁 EDIT: Hab grade gesehen, daß ich dir hätte auch auf deutsch schreiben können...😂
The demo is superb. Except the ending is boring. Also it would been awesome if they managed to get a SID composer to mimic la linea "speak". That's for v2.0.
I am pretty sure Osvaldo Cavandoli himself would be absolutely happy with this demo!
Impressive! Even though the only the vector points are stored, that's still a lot of info stored in 64K. Nicely done!
Cooles Video. Sehr gut. Mal eine andere Demo. Das Männchen kennt wohl fast jeder.
Masterpiece. Charming. Has the spirit of the original artist.
Incredibly smart and enjoyable! SID is rocking ! 😀 Thank you for sharing!
I loved watching "La Linea" ("Bajum-barum" in my country) on TV. That's a cool demo!
Hammer Demo, nicht nur die Idee, sondern auch wie man das technisch überhaupt umsetzen kann. Danke für den Upload 😀
Ja, darüber staune ich auch ein jedes mal. Die Coder sind in meinen Augen die besten der besten. LG Retrobulle
I'm 47 years old. There can't be a video that makes me happier. ☺
45 here. Totally agree!

I cant belive this is real on c64 :D Astonishing !
So creative.. the music is among the best I heard on a c64! 🔥
Saw this pop up in my feed and thought "looks familiar". Then I saw it was released at M&S 2002 and I remembered being there. Now I feel old :D
I loved this cartoon when I was a kid.
I’d be intrigued by the compression techniques used in this.
Yea it is far too fine to be a simple character animation, this must be a brilliant render engine

Gute Demo.
Auf jeden Fall :)
This is simply the best thing ever.
I see it the same way my friend...
work of art !
Definitely :)
One of the most entertaining C64 Demos ever!
Daran denke ich auch gerne zurück! Thank you for bringing back these memories!
Magnificent, Commodore 64 you rock !
very cool demo, congratulations!
thx you. Nice Greetings from Retrobulle
So Italian, reminds me of the style of Italian cartoons I saw as a child (Pingu, Red and Blue, A-E-I-O-U)
I LOVE C64 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤FOREVER ❤❤❤❤
Me too, my friend :)
Great work with this Demo.
Top, habe ich immer gerne gesehen.
Ich habe es geliebt. Das Männchen fehlt mir :)
ingenious! :D
That's really great!
Oh yes. It is :)
Super, bonne continuation.
fantastic
Just amazing!
I like the music
I like Commodore C64 :)
Maybe someone will remember. The Amiga had a demo in a similar style. I can't find it in any way :(

@@playnochat Thank you!
Moja ulubiona kreskówka i świetne demo! :)
Richtig klasse gemacht!
Ja, das fehlt mir heute im langweiligen TV-Programm.
NICE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
❤
Great video! (If I were the truck driver, I would have charged him fifty bucks for a lift!)
thx for your command my friend
👍

noice!

Grins, so läuft das....
Great music, but what a missed opportunity not to make a cover of the original la linea music.
Sorry .)
Oh, I just googled that. I thought this was more of a Gigi D'agostino reference. But apparently Gigi wasn't the first to have had this idea. :D

Confused... line 18 after list says 2002.03.30. and the comment 03/2022 ??
not bad
Credits are longer than the actual demo hahah
2002 not 2022 :-)
Sorry, was my fault.
Just a friendly reminder that your title says 03/*2002*.
Deutsche Halbübersetzung:
Nur eine freundliche Erinnerung, dass Ihr Titel 03/*2002* lautet.
Sorry, but I'm not perfect either and sometimes mistakes like this happen. But thanks for pointing it out.
To clarify the confusion, 2002 is correct according to the 0:44 listing.
what is the music from 3:42 ?
Sorry - I dont know
How did they do it? Sprites?
I dont know my friend :)
I would guess sprites used where needed but otherwise clever use of the programmable PETSCII / text mode ?

Very, very fine demo. Any way to reproduce this on gitHub?
