Out of all the countless chiptune songs i've listened to, this still remains my ultimate favorite. A hidden masterpiece of composition! Especially around 4:34 there is so much emotion behind those notes, it keeps getting better every time i listen to it. Geir Tjelta, you created something truly special!
Its a incredible effort to produce this on this machine, unbelievable graphics and demo design. Who would have thought a 1982 machine could produce this ?
I always wished that Commodore would've released a C64 with dual SID's in it. Cool stereo tunes and sound effects at the same time in games might've become the norm. One can dream!
This stuff is amazing, I must have watched this video about 30 times now and I just can't get enough of it, it's probably my favourite C64 demo, and the music is bloody fantastic! I'd sure love to hear more from the same composer, or at least more in the same style...
This might be a lot to explain, but I'm going to explain it briefly. This is not a game nor a demo version of a game. It is a non-interactive demonstration of what C64 can do through 6502 assembly. There are many great productions from the C64 demoscene, such as this one.
@@TrueNeutralEvGenius well, I'm russian, and in our language "demo" means "demonstration", which means "something you want to demostrate" (for example: demo of a game, demo of an application). As has been said, best SID tune ever written. And I've heard a lot! Other than that, very nice visuals in this demo and some really well executed routines. One of my top 3 demo's now, lets see if that changes soon..
That guy with the Purple Screen reflection at 2:40 appears to be very iconic. I've seen many users of RUclips and demoscene website use it as their avatars. I've even seen it on a T-shirt design
My deepest respect to the creators of this demo - especially the SID is simply brilliant.. nothing comes close to sound of the SID .. not in my hounest opinion anyway
The opening/ending arpeggiation appears to be taken from an old AHX tune: Gier Tjella - A new beginning. The songs are otherwise very different though!
yes i know but sometimes creating arpeggios can sound similar like in this case, Geir probably make an arpeggios differentiate the notes at 1 octave apart. which seems to be the same way Matt did the arps in Last Ninja 2.
+inphanta Check this out: csdb.dk/release/?id=93836 Didn't try it on a real C64 yet but works with CCS64. You NEED to turn off maximum floppy speed to run this!

Actually i think that 3:57 is the part, with the most emotional hit in the song.
that shit punched me in the heart
@@phoenixyt124 no, its at 5:08

Listening to this while drawing almost made me forget that I was listening to a SID, that's how high quality this is!
it is simply the best sid tune ever.. ive still got by breadbox 6581 lol
My god I love the old SID chip. Makes me miss my C64 so much. Emulators just aren't the same!
One of the best soundtracks I‘ve ever heard, and so in tune with the exceptional graphics.

Couldn't agree more. One of my all time favorite SID tunes as well.
wonderful tune !
wow its the man himself!
I always wished that Commodore would've released a C64 with dual SID's in it. Cool stereo tunes and sound effects at the same time in games might've become the norm. One can dream!
Nobody had stereo TVs at that time.
Modern boards does it now or also some SID-compatible chips.
Insanely well-produced SID tune. Much love :)

One of the greatest C64 Demos.
i absolutely love the change in music starting at 3.34

That's actually tetris pieces falling off at the start

Same composer then :)
Absolutely incredible.
Really cool tune
I could only imagine it takes 30 minutes of an intro to get into a game of tanks.
Lovely tune.
Amazing!
Very nice tune!
Can we find this artist somewhere? Like on Bandcamp?
you think of gfx artist, coder or music artist?
2X SID = god
0:44 oh... my......... fucking........... GOD!
they really weren't fkin about with this demo :D
It is a cool job!
Top ! Congratulations !
Actionoise.... Good frequencies.....
Are there any communities out there for stuff like this?
Is that not one of the best sounding sid tunes ever?
Music from 1:00 definitely using samples from Last Ninja 3 Intro
"samples" is a bit insulting :p
SID is not a sampling chip like SNES
@@64Abstract Look up "Sampling (music)" in Wikipedia!

Epic shit, but the screen in the sunglasses has to be mirrored... Heavy mistake!

Geir Tjelta
Im guessing this demo wont run on my C64 since it uses 2x sid? Great work btw.
Trydowave Zod I think it will work just fine with 1 SID chip on real C64.
its only 1 SID! Geir is truly the master!
