The "deleted scenes" are just the final scenes to be cut in most cases.

Rik Mayall was a ridiculously funny guy in real life as well as acting. You should read what his daughter had to say about him. To see more, look up The Young Ones. Just incredible. He was the *ideal* Peeves and it was so sad he was left out. Now it's too late. :(
They are releasing the first HP on DVD as an extended edition (no info yet on whether the other movies will be released the same way). I don't know, though, if there will be any new extended/deleted scenes beyond what they already play on TV and are on the old DVDs. So, I don't know if they'll add Rik's parts back in or not. But I'm hoping so. That'd be awesome.

It seems like they still used his likeness (crudely speaking) in the video games that were released for the film, and even the ones for later films. I played the games as a kid, so it's a trip for me seeing a guy who really looks like that, haha
