- Taken from the Bottom Live stage show in 1993 filmed in Southampton. Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson at their BEST!
RIP Rik x
Rik Mayall was one of a kind , the likes of we will see no more .R.I.P Rik.
30 yrs old and still one of the best live stage comedies there is....
Who else is on a binge watching all these shows just love it RIP rick mayal.
The thing with them is they were so good, you never actually knew if it was actually part of the show or it was a blooper.
Really miss Rik Mayall . Together with Ade Edmonston they were brilliant together. I know Ade can't talk about how he misses Rik . Brilliant video.
"F*cking hell! A line from the play!" dead 😂😂😂
the comedic chemistry between these two was on another level :)
I can watch this over and over again, it's brilliant. Rik Mayal was always one of my favourite comedians. Ade too.
The perfect partnership. Rik forgets his lines, Ade rolls with it, improves and has everyone pissing themselves. The show got derailed by Rik and Ade pulls it back. Utterly brilliant.
Actually, they did this on the whole tour. I saw a few of their tours and the adlibbed stuff that I saw was also on the videos. Still, its great, the first time you see it.
Growing up in the 90s, bottom was awesome! Comedic geniuses
I wish I had a friendship like these two, they are brothers!
10 minutes of pure comedy genius. Scripted ot not, this always make me laugh every time I watch it.
To go of script brave.
To improvise something of this quality takes pure comedy genius.
Very good, but they probably did the same bit each night
@@Juniar101exactly. Saw them live, then saw the live dvd from a different venue. The “off script” bits were the same.
@@Juniar101 They did :(
Truly awesome, it must’ve been wonderful to have sat in the audience that night. It’s so ‘dangerous’ to drop character. This was a masterclass in how to do it and make a very special moment. Really miss Rik, he like Ade, was very special.
These things are almost never spontaneous. All part of the show.
I can confirm this. I saw two of the shows multiple times and 95% of this is scripted. Still funny, but not spontaneous.
@@CafeMerle Thanks for that info. If anything it makes one really admire their acting and comedic skills. I’ve been a life long fan of card magic. Even when I know someone is second or ‘bottom’ dealing, (no pun intended) or doing a perfect false shuffle or cut, and I know exactly how they’re doing it but still can’t ‘see’ the move - it makes me appreciate them all the more.
2024 and would watch this until i die. Best series ever
Still golden after all these years
geniuses......comedy gold, never fails to make you laugh
Young ones, Bottom loved Rik and Ade. Sleep well Rik.🌹
Still miss him so much...😢
New Statesman
The arm/wrist joke was brilliantly quick-witted! 😂
“GET ON! GET ON WITH THE FUCKING PLAY!” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
My favourite duo ever! Miss you Rik 😘
A pair of certified (and certifiable) comedy geniuses. . . 😂 Best laugh I have had in ages!
Tom dad and Laurie MCPHEE and Jamie have a great day and a great day and a r your email 📨 and 😅😢I 😅😮will 😅be 😅😊😅🎉😢❤
How to make a lot to me and you 🤩🤩 I don't understand why Ru is a it to me I think I will you 💋 it to the same as I have a I have been on my own your email and I
I saw Bottom Live at the Hammersmith Apollo back in the nineties - it was brilliant and as funny and well put together as the TV show.
Such a sad loss.
They were always a brilliant live double act ,i remember their "dangerous brothers" routine ,back in the day
And Rik was such a good straight actor, too. Sadly missed by all.
"F*cking hell ... a line from the play!" That bit never fails to make me laugh
And this is why, they were the best live performers EVER. The way they managed to ALWAYS get the crowd involved in the act was nothing short of spectacular.
I was going to make a joke here, but honestly, how can you compete with Rik and Ade at the top of their game? They were utterly brilliant together.
Ade and Rik are amongst the timeless greats. thank you for uploading
Right up there with the best comic duos ever ……miss then together so much……
Rik and Ade were something special together.
The most hilarious thing I've seen in many years. Rik and ade are hysterically funny with their sharp improv ability. Its madly funny even though you can guess it's going to happen from the way ade comments to rik.
Absofuckinloutly brilliant, never forgotten.
This part of our VHS cassette was so worn out it would distort, fuzz and warp the image for the first 20 seconds of this 😂
i did have the vhs but then i got hold of the boxset of the stage shows
Had a really shit day. 10 minutes later I'm pissing myself laughing and feel just that little bit better. Thankyou Rik and Adrian.
Lynn Mcphee and Baby boy zak I love you too t shirt with a I am not sure if I can get a really good job and I will be in the year of the year of the car 🚗 and too much love
😂 just BRILLIANT, the pair of them.
2 comedians / actors at the top of their game
Cry laughing every time. Those 2 were really close on and off the stage
I have been a fan of these 2 for years ,they are so funny ,I watch my series of bottom all the time,I know all the words of every episode ,r.i.p mr mayal
Ade was born in Bradford, but he had you believing he was born in Southampton. That's genius.
Made for each other and yet both are excellent serious actors. How sad that Rik is no longer with us. You know Alan Bastard was also amazing, and just so much more
Unfortunately, Alan was ahead of time, and now wouldn't be mean enough to be a Tory MP.
Breaks my heart I went to symphony Hall the other day and saw ade Edmondson live was an amazing show but left me feeling sad and happy at the same time ps I have the same birthday as ade Edmondson 😂 rip Rik ❤
These guys were magic together 🎩🐰
I have seen this clip (and the complete show) countless times and I just sat here laughing my butt off all over again. One of the funniest pairings ever. Rik, we miss you, but probably not as much as Ade. RIP Rik 💗
Miss, rik and this show so much 😢 still hurts to this day
They were a magical pair shame poor Rik left us
7:12: “Right sit down Eddie! Sit down! I’ve got some sad and tragic news!” *laughs*
XD
You looked a lot sadder in rehearsals
I have been struggling with depression for two years now. So I have become, shall we say? More sensitive to emotions. And so I'm very careful about what content I watch. Some of you, I hope not many, may understand me when I mention triggers, and how they can be unpredictable! And now I am crying! Not because of the great loss of Rik. Which will always hurt. But because of the absolutely joyous, true friendship these two men had! Which is so apparent whenever they worked together. It's often the most wonderful things that evoke the strongest emotions in a person. And the only way I can process emotions that strong is with tears, And it's hard to beat Ade and Rik for that level of feelings! Thanks Rik, Thanks Ade!
Aww heck. ❤ Bless. Thanks for sharing that, I completely understand. Learning that my life battle is officially PTSD, from abusive childhood events, triggers can come from nowhere, a waft of perfume in the street, driving past somewhere you stayed a night years ago, a phrase in a sentence. Gratitude for the good ones to, such as nights watching bottom and young ones by the fire, with my abuser. Funny how every coin has two sides. Thanks to Rik ade and yourself. ❤ Homework time... Have you every heard of amanita muscaria? Or micro dosing for depression? Different paths for different people, but this path has help countless souls about the world. This is a very serious medicine, and not to be treated without great care and respect, poisoning is a consequence potentially if misused. Please, research this, it may help ❤ 🍄
❤ good reason to stay alive ❤
Ive been in a similar place to you my friend for a couple of years or so. We’ll get through it .
Always remember what you are going through makes you stronger, you may feel weak, etc . But you are stronger than most others, because of what you have been through, you just don’t know it yet. Don’t take any shit from anyone, and be who you are, which I’m sure is a great person. 👍👍 the triggers mentioned before , etc are just trap doors, keep fighting . And as I say don’t take any shit from anyone , ever , you are stronger than that. You just don’t know it yet. It’ll be ok, ❤
@@nez9751 Thanks so much for those words of support. As you know it's ups and downs. But the trend is up now I believe.
@@GnrMilligan definitely, I’m up and down just like you. I sometimes have good days, and dark sleepless nights which are hellish to say the least. The other day there was a bee caught in the window , I tried to let it out and accidentally squashed it, and that upset me. Your emotions are like being on a roller coaster for me, you are literally up and own, maybe it’s bipolar or something similar, I haven’t opened up to a dr about it for a couple of years, but all they did at the time was offer me pills which I refused,. I’ve self medicated with booze, etc, but I’m coming out of that now and it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life. I’ve had abuse in my childhood, also bullied etc , grief , like a lot of us, certainly not unique to me, but maybe that’s something to do with it. I just try to think of it as an education on how to be a stronger person than most others , not that it’s a competition, but we will come out of this stronger. We just don’t realise it yet, but I’m learning . Hope you are too 🫡🤟👍
i cant believe it will be 10yrs since Rik Mayall left us 😞😞 he really was, "Gone Too Soon" but he will NEVER EVER be forgotten
I love how every single one of bottoms live shows were just carnage. And the plot of the show is just pointless. As the show Is just them feeding of and delivering lines at the audience out of character. How these 2 worked every live show was incredible. And I don’t think another show has copied there formula. And has been able to match the quality IMO.
Much love to Rik and Ade still.
Thank you for sharing! Such great talent!
Totally awesome brilliant
Still crazy after all these years. Oooh still crazy after all these years! x
My comedy hero's. Xx
Fantastic, they never do actually breack character... great old friends x
I wish i wish i had seen them live. Ever need a laugh watch Rik Ade.
I saw this live at Winter Gardens Margate in 1993.
The best chemistry ever closely followed by red dwarf
8:44 😂 side-splitting laughter. Rick was so funny .
Gotta love Adrian and Rik
The perfect combo.
Rik...gone too soon
This was hilarious, comedy geniuses at work.
They nearly completely lost it at 06:20, and so did i.
Brilliant, great video, cheers.
R.I.P Rik
You were one of a kind.
I had the right ache when I awoke then this popped up 😂😅
Rip Rick, Ta Ade 😂
I still have my VHS boxset - all seasons, live shows and Bottom Fluff, which is arguably funnier than anything scripted.
Blimming marvellous!
RIP RIK. MAYAL GENIUS😢
Masters of their craft.
The best of the best sadly missed
Its coming up to 10 years since he died😢😢
10 years it seems like yesterday he died.
9th June
@@garyturner5739 I know it still doesn't feel real
The young ones, 20 years later.
1:30 "everyone you ever met wished you were dead".........Peeps like me (who never met him) so wishes he was still alive. RIP Rick 😧
Still bloody brilliant!!
Saw this in Leeds, did EXACTLY the same “off script” routine - they must have had plants in the audience too
Legends
_HA HA missed both my legs_
So many classic lines!
Just 😂😂😂😂😂 genius!
Class Pure Class.
They didn't drop out of character. They fourth walled the play in character.
my daughter loved watching bottom........she was around 10 lol at the time maybe younger but absolutely loved them
Yes Miss Jones yes 🤣
What a loss he was
This scene is so good because in any other performance it would be a disaster.
They were taken out of the performance so much that they forgot their lines and even what scene they're in.
Yet they made it so entertaining it didn't matter.
Miss him.
Great duo.😅
Brilliant! is there a complete vid of this somewhere??
yep. Boxed set.
The Best
Just BRILLIANT. What else can you say. Barney Glasgow 😎
God bless p rick😂❤😊
4:28 gets me every time.
Bril!. Nuff said!.
That woman scream laughing around 7:45
One by one - Rik Knew.
Friends
is that Drop Dead Fred???
Yup, genius. 🎉😂
Drop? They were out of character the whole time.
Or were they?
must have been a great night
Fun Fact: Ade Edmonson was born in Bradford.
Yeah, that's my name😂
