On my Jozai legendary traditional only domination campaign, I made vassals. They sent their half stack armies to the Vanguard's front, providing fodder and weakening the Imperial Vanguard. Because I never went beyond level 1 modernization, I could tax the hell out of everything, and generally made tonnes of $$$
This campaign inspired me to play as the Jozai (only on hard) and the Edo faction did the exact same thing, allying with my enemies. I attacked the clan to the north an fought all three, getting them to attack me in Shimosa in favorable battles of attrition. After I was strong enough I took their castles and now have pretty borders on the Kanto Plain. It will be enjoyable seeing how your campaign diverges from mine!
Hey really enjoying the let's play! I found that a good use for bombardments is to use them just as/before enemy ranged troops/the enemy formation gets into range. The units near the flare usually move and scatter so your men can get free shots on them or charge into melee with them without getting shot as much. This way it does not matter how many boat guns you have supporting or how many they hit as the goal is primarily disruption. Is harder to pull off against melee armies as they are already running forward.
it's still really early in the campaign, and i imagine these are all pre-recorded, but trading with a western power as soon as possible gives you mad money. of course that's not a realistic goal at the moment but it's definitely something to consider in terms of research
its always better to make yari kachi instead of spear levy, for 40 more upkeep you get waaay more stats + yari sprint. even when ur income is low its still a better idea to make yari
As much as I agree, right now I need quantity over quality. It's a good point though, the upkeep cost increase is very small, but since income is so low I'd have to actually save up for Yari Kachi and they take twice as long to recruit on top of that, and in the early game I just want to get units out as fast as possible.
I like FOTS, though I did have to download a mod that gave Spear Levy (and a bunch of other spear troops) the Spear Wall ability before I really got into it,
I challenge you to a Republican Tsu campaign in Legendary with Darthmod. That's most fun you can have in FOTS like I did in my campaign. Edit: Also max unit size modded to 480...
Have you ever finished a domination republic campaign? I eventually stopped because of the stupid endless naval battles I had to fight, I really wish you could make blockades or something to stop all enemy ships.

Also. your 144/200 Spears broke because they got shot in the back by Sharps, plus two units in melee.

The bigger fleet you have the more rounds and volleys you have in battle. The ammout doesent depend on how many ships but how many cannons.
So if there are more cannons on a ship, the naval bombardment is more effective?
Remember watching your shogun 2 videos back in the days, it's the reason I got my own gaming pc many years later

Keith Hansen That mod was inspired by Donkey's Date Coop Campaign!
Also heavely invest in gun units, the are the true power in this campaign
Do you have a shogun 2 (any period) play through where you have Darthmod or some other mods enabled?
I had an unfinished LP with the Realism+ mod, but nothing besides that, I want to finish all clans on Legendary before really trying mods.
