Lumpini Park is the first public park in Thailand built over 100 years ago. King Rama VI donated land at the outskirt of Bangkok to construct the park. The King used to be educated in a boarding school in England as a prince for several years and thus Lumpini Park was an attempt to emulate Hyde Park in England. Lumpini Park is the favorite park for people to exercise in the morning and evening. The park is world famous for its many monitor lizards, some are as long as 2-3 meters. Monitor lizard lives in the park's pond for decades. It has no predator so the park is the heaven for them. Nearby is Benjakitti Park which is connected to Lumpini Park via Green Skywalk. Benjakitti Park and its new extension (Forest Park) land used to house factories of Thailand Tobacco Monopoly. The factories were relocated to a remote province decades ago. Both Lumpini and Benjakitti parks are favorite for Thais and expats to relax, walking, biking or simply walking in the morning and evening. Biking is allowed in Lumpini park from 10.00-16.00. Other times are allocated to walkers and runners. Biking is allowed in all hours at Forest Park due to its dedicated bike lanes.
The sculpture in Benjakitti Park is Prathumchart or literally Lotus Species. Lotus is the symbol of Buddhism and Thais bring lotus to the temple as merit offering. There is an annual event at the end of Buddhis Lent in October at Wat Yai Bang Pli to float a decorated boat to receive throwing lotuses along the canal ruclips.net/video/KzOtkYDcvu8/видео.html

Your video is spot on! We were just in Bangkok as we are looking for a new base, and the city is amazing, we loved it. However, the air pollution in february was unbelievable, our throats felt scratchy and we had trouble breathing properly, so… yeah, it’s going to remain a holiday destination.

We love staying in Bangkok, and have thought about living there at least half of the year. Visas are always an issue, but I think we could make that work. The pollution is something that although we don't notice it when we're there, we know we are definitely breathing it in. But we still love to visit such a huge and bustling city, and who knows what the future holds for us. Cheers from Lisbon :)

My family and I have been to Bangkok only once 26 years ago. Would love to stop by for few days of sightseeing, shopping and food. Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai is our target destination as we have never been to the north of Thailand where the air are much cleaner and temperature cooler. Hi guys! Thank you for the fun and fair video. I'm an American living in KL and in mid-February I went to BK for the first time. I don't know why but I didn't expect the people to be as friendly as they are! Right up there with Malaysians. I think I could live there but, like you, I found the weather a tad too hot, more than KL although I'm not sure why. Prices for low-priced items seemed on par with KL but I felt BK was ~20% higher for things such as lodging and clothing. KL is also a bit more modern in my view. Still, the trains I used in BK were clean and easy to use and I would go back again. (note: I wonder why KL or BK don't have the technology were you can tap your wallet - without removing your train card inside - and go through the entrance/exit gate like you can in Japan. If you or sb else knows, please explain.)

Enjoyed this video. We have only stayed in Bangkok for a week, a day or two as we pass through to other places. Looks like it could deserve a longer stay. However, I do think we enjoy the slightly slower pace of Kuala Lumpur a bit more. Although, I think KL may be a bit more expensive.

We have decided to make Turkey our homebase, at least for now. It has a low cost of living, relatively high quality of life for the price, and it's easy to take trips to Europe and Asia from there. Thanks for watching our video!

How does living in Bangkok compare to living in Malaysia overall?
Malaysia is cheaper and more livable than Thailand right?
Thanks for the comment. I was actually thinking about doing a video comparing Malaysia and Thailand sometime in the future. I think Malaysia has a slightly lower cost of living, easier communication (more English spoken), and less pollution. But Thailand has better immigration visas compared to Malaysia. I think we would be happy living in either country. Thanks for watching!
For my taste is good for visiting and stay for a week, but not a place to settle to living in there, to crowded and pollution city,
Yes, Bangkok is definitely crowded and has heavy air pollution. Somewhere like Phuket could be a good alternative to Bangkok if wanting somewhere in Thailand that is less crowded and less pollution. Thanks for watching!
