My friend's married dad going into my house multiple times a week to "fix" something. One day we were playing outside and she asked me why her dad kept visiting my mom. I didn't know either. We dropped the subject until fast forward a couple weeks later, my friend runs to me crying about how her mom said we could not play together anymore because her mom did not like my mom. Her parents got a divorce shortly after.

STORY 1: When I was a teenager in the early ‘80s, I used to babysit for a family who lived a few doors down from us. They had three horribly behaved boys who ranged in age from three to six or seven. They were VERY religious, going to church at least twice a week, with crosses everywhere, a giant Bible on their coffee table, and so forth.
Well, one night I’m babysitting and the children said they wanted to play "police." I told them to go ahead. They dragged a big duffel bag out into the family room and started taking stuff out of it. Chains, handcuffs, leather straps…ball gags…hoods with zippers…dildos… At first I didn’t make the connection but once there were three or four very large dildos on the floor, I realized what I was looking at. The kids thought it was "police" because of the handcuffs. I realized that this couple was into BDSM. (I didn’t know the term BDSM when I was 17 in those pre-internet days, but I’d seen enough photos to know how equipment like that was used.)
I told the boys that they needed to put that stuff back wherever they found it. They said, "It’s OK - Mommy and Daddy let us play with it." EWWWWW!!! I told them I didn’t think it was a good idea and to put everything away. After a lot of complaining, they did. We played something else until they went to bed.
Mom & Dad finally get home, quite drunk, several hours later than they’d told me they’d get home. Oldest boy comes running out of his room, excited that they’re home. Mom asks if he had fun with me. He says, "No, he wouldn’t let us play police." Mom turns very pale. "Did you get into Mommy and Daddy’s police stuff?" "Yeah, but Dave made us put it away."
I say that I need to get home. Dad walks me to the door, pulls out his wallet, and hands me a huge wad of twenties. "Nobody needs to know about our ‘police’ stuff, right? Especially your parents?" I take the wad of money and confirm that their secret was safe with me.
Walked home and counted my earnings. It was close to $400, which was a FORTUNE to 17-year-old me for one evening’s babysitting back in 1984. I think my rate for this family was $10 an hour - high for that era, but those kids were awful and the family could never find babysitters who’d sit for them more than once. I was supposed to sit for three hours, which turned into six, so I ended up making my $60 for the night…with a $360 tip! I definitely didn’t tell my parents about the sex toys. I also didn’t tell them how much I’d earned that night. They did wonder how I afforded to buy a whole bunch of CDs for my new CD player, though. I told them I’d been saving up my babysitting money - technically true - and that the record store had had a sale…
The next time I babysat for these neighbors, my rate increased to $15 an hour. Not my idea, either. Good help that doesn’t gossip is worth paying for, I learned. 40 years later and my parents still don’t know about this.
STORY 2: Also when I was in high school, I participated in the youth group at my parents’ church. I didn’t enjoy doing this because I had zero social skills and had no friends there, so everyone always ignored me. (I was later diagnosed with autism; children back then who could communicate well but who didn’t like being around other people and had no social skills were just called "loners" or "very shy." Turns out I was actually on the autism spectrum.)
Anyway, I often found a place around the church to be by myself so I could read a book or listen to my ultra-cool Sony Walkman. The church was a huge building with a flat roof, and one day I was exploring some of the "hidden" spaces. On the second floor of the church was a mechanical room where the air conditioning system was housed. The door to that room was usually locked, but one day it wasn’t. I went in to look around. I discovered a ladder on the back wall that led up to a hatch in the ceiling. I climbed up, unlatched the hatch, and pushed it open. It opened to the roof of the building, so I climbed out.
Up there, I found some lawn chairs and a big bucket full of cigarette butts. I also found a bunch of plants growing in big pots…plants of the five-leaf variety. I didn’t know who they belonged to, but I knew I didn’t want to be caught by whomever was growing them, so I quickly went back down and rejoined the youth group. It took a while, but I eventually figured out who was growing weed on the roof of the church - it was the youth minister! He was in his 20s and was going to seminary, working part-time as a youth minister to earn an income. I saw him and another 20-something guy go upstairs once after the youth group was over and parents were picking kids up. I had my driver’s license and my own car, so I wasn’t being picked up and was just hanging around so I’d have a quiet place to read. Well, I saw the youth minister and his friend go upstairs and I followed them up, wondering if they were going where I thought they were going. Sure enough, I found that they’d gone into the mechanical room and up the ladder, where the hatch was open to the sky.
I didn’t tell anyone about this for years, until my mother asked me if I’d ever heard rumors that someone was growing pot on the roof of the church. I asked where she’d heard that and she told me the daughter of one of their friends at the church had said that she had heard that rumor years before. I told my parents that I knew for a fact that someone was growing pot up there because I’d seen it. I didn’t tell my parents that I also knew who was doing it; I just told them about having climbed up there once and saw it on the roof. When asked why I didn’t tell anyone, I made an excuse about not knowing it was actually pot because I didn’t know what that particular plant looked like…
Looking back on it, it was a really smart set-up. No one ever went up on that roof. The roof was huge and you couldn’t see if anyone was up there unless they were near the edge, whereas the little garden was right in the center. The church was in a residential neighborhood that consisted of single-story homes and other one-story businesses. The church was by far the tallest building in the entire area, so there were no places within at least a mile or two in all directions where someone could see the rooftop. The city got good rain so the plants probably didn’t even have to be watered all that often. That set-up wouldn’t work nearly as well today with drones and satellite views and all that, but in the early ‘80s, it was perfect.
It’s unfortunate that I didn’t use a little blackmail to enjoy the roof garden myself. I could keep my mouth shut for a small portion of what they grew. I was too afraid of repercussions m though, because I had no idea what their reaction would be if I told them I knew. I’d seen too many movies about people on the run from drug dealers…

My husband and I once decided to expore a house in the mid west which had clearly been abandoned for many years. It was still packed full of stuff, some dating back to the Civil War, and also a variety of junk and rubbish. We found an old box with a lock on it, hidden in the rafters of the attic. Hubby pried off the lock, and we were shocked beyond words. Someone who had lived there had gone to a World’s Fair in San Francisco in 1915. There were a few souvenir items, Pacific Expo, something like that. There were also a few dozen hard-core porno shots made into post cards. People were posed in an old Victorian living room, mirrors on the ceiling. Women with big poofy hairdos and enormous hats, still wearing their high-button shoes, but nothing else. Every imaginable pose, sex toys, all very graphic. Men on men, women on women, you name it. Stuff you cannot unsee. Clearly the owner hadn’t wanted anyone in his family to see it. 😳😳😳😫

I could hear music coming from my friends bedroom so I got up and went to go see what they were up to. I opened the door slowly because I was going to try to scare them and I saw one of my friends giving the other one oral. I freaked out and quitely closed the door back and went back out into the living room. After awhile I heard them coming out of the room and I pretended like I was just waking up and acted like nothing happened. I never said anything and I don’t know if this was something they did regularly on the down low or maybe just something weird that happened because of the overindulgence of alcohol and other substances. We are all straight males by the way and I had never seen any behavior from them in the past that would explain what I saw them doing.

When I was 14 & babysat my eldest niece (5), I was looking for a fresh towel & accidentally found a porn mag that my sister or my BIL stashed away. Me being curious at that age, I found myself flipping pages, forgetting about my niece for a minute … big mistake! She found me reading it & she saw some “oral” pics, then proceeded to ask me why the girl was doing that to his w*lly. I knew, but I also knew I couldn’t possibly tell her that, so I threw the mag out of sight somewhere my niece couldn’t see it. She got pouty with me & then decided she was going to tell my sister what she saw. I was internally freaking out & pleaded with my niece to forget about it, but she gave me this little smile & insisted that she was telling her mum. Thank goodness for my sister’s sense of humour, as she nearly died when my niece trotted up to her & described the “w*lly book” I found. This reminds me of something that happened a long time ago.
My older sibling went to college a couple of hours from where I lived with my mom. We would visit them every other weekend. Usually on the way up, my mom would pick up something to eat.
This one time, my mom decided to stop for Burger King. I didn’t feel like getting out of the car so I waited while my mom walked in. Shortly after she walked in, this van pulls into the parking lot, ramming into that cement block at the end of the parking space. The van was full of guys. The driver had gloves and a beanie on.
I looked over cause wtf dude and we locked eyes. I just knew immediately this guy was planning on robbing the restaurant and me seeing his face was enough to stop him. He had a clear Oh Shit look on his face and he peeled out.
We actually passed the guy on the highway, we knew because his wheel was still banged up from earlier. Me wanting a nap probably saved everyone from that situation

Once I was staying in a hotel in L.A. and the hotel room window was facing a brick wall of the neighboring building. I looked down into the allyway and saw what I'm sure was a drug deal going down right outside my window. I quickly shut the curtains and pretended I never saw them and hoped they didn't see me.
I couldn't see their faces from where I was and wouldn't be able to ID them anyway.

When I was just a 5 year old kid I climbed up on the kitchen counter and went exploring in a cabinet. Lo and behold, there was a wrought iron sculpture on the top shelf. It showed a bolt chasing a nut, with the mysterious (to me) words printed on the base, "No! I didn't take my pill!" Of course I didn't know what it meant and asked mom. I got no answer but had the sculpture taken and put away somewhere. Never saw it again.

I'm a quiet person and I can keep quiet forever as long as nobody speaks to me. Despite being quiet, I have a really good skill in socializing and reading books. I don't know if this counts much as it's not a really crazy story, but one time when I came to school early, I saw like 9th-11th graders smoking in the boys bathroom, which is where I never go to. Some dude told me to not tell the teachers, as I instantly nodded, but also suggested him to not smoke too much as it's bad, he said he knows it. When a lot of teachers came here, they asked me some things. I acted like I had no idea. Well I was a clever kid and the computer hadn't been wiped and I was having a look through the documents on the machine (note that this was an old Amstrad running MS-DOS so it wasn't simply a case of looking through folders on a GUI) and what do I find? a passport application for her using the last name my dad was using at the time. We thought he was going away to work and he was just going to her house, even worse she had been a godmother to my sister and had recently had a baby that we hadn't yet found out was his.

I've seen many things that messed me up as a kid. But one incident that fits this bill which stands out most to me is one that happened just as I reached adulthood. For a few months my mom and I were the reluctant hosts to a guy I was friends with back in middle school who was kicked out of his brother's place and refused to move back in with his mother. Despite me telling this guy multiple times that my mom and I couldn't house him, he decided to show up on our doorstep anyway. So suffice to say I already wasn't wild about him living with us. What pushed me over the edge though was one morning when I left my room to take my dog for a walk. I come out to the living room looking for my dog when I spot my "friend" clamping his ham to NSFW media on my mom's computer. I immediately retreated to my room before he noticed me, and told my mom about the situation later. Suffice to say that my relationship with this guy hasn't been the same since then.

    Things I've seen that I shouldn't have -
    - Dad dripped my sister and I off early on a weekend back at our Mom and Stepdad's. We "interrupted" them. Luckily we didn't see anything, but it was pretty obvious what was happening.
    - Was at a party at a friend's when I was 21. There was one bathroom in this big, old loft in downtown Detroit. I knocked on it and no one answered. I felt i should look through the keyhole to make sure i wasn't interrupting anyone (old keyhole you can literally see right through) and i ended up getting an eye full of my friend's fiance's lady parts...
    - I work as a maintenance supervisor in high rises. Had to check on a leak in a unit. Went inside without asking first because it's protocol in an emergency. Walk into this bedroom of this 21/22 yo girl who lived there. She wasn't home, but the bed had heart shaped pillows everywhere, there were several cameras set up from various angles and a towel was laid out on the dresser with a variety of "toys". One made me blush as this girl was probably 5 feet tall and 100 lbs. I have nfc if she used the gigantic toy I'm referring to. But hats off if she did. Quite an achievement. Ive found various sex toys over the years. Had a whole conversation with one girl in here bedroom about an issue while her vibrator was literally right next to me. Gay dudes definitely have the craziest toys though. I've also found a resident who had died. That was messed up. I've heard people getting it on either woth each other or solo while working out in the hallways. Seriously people forget that most places you can here a lot.

Hours later at the morning after party i saw them leave and asked my friends WTF was that old woman... "Oh... that's his MOM!"

Not as bad as some of the other things on here, but: when I was maybe three, my dad was in charge of watching me. He left the room to play video games with friends, but left the TV on for me to watch. He put on the only existing sfw Robot Chicken episode on RUclips. He didn’t know it at the time, but that was the very day RUclips added the auto play feature. I saw a lot of things a child, or even an adult really, should ever see….

Well not me but my older sis, my sister well ran into my mom and dad doing the deed, and her gut feeling is always true. One time, she told me that whenever she gets close to my parents room she feels something like a gut feeling that they are doing something and whenever she opens it, turns out yep she was correct.
So idk if our speculation is correct, but my sister was on our neighbors house and she called out my mom's name since of course, she was friends with the neighbors and frequently hang out with their house.
So uh, she had a gut feeling that something like they were doing something in the room she was just 1 step before she goes into the room to check, and before she can open it. Our mom came and said " are you leaving already? " and then hurriedly went out of the room, and my sister was confused on why she was hurrying her to leave when technically she can hear her since the room has a window.
She just had a gut feeling they were doing something, and the only people were there is her and our neighbor ( I think ).
Mind to tell you, our mom likely fell in love with our dad because he was handsome and can financially do stuffs. You can say she's a gold digger and she's also toxic and abvsiv3. She was willing to give my older sister to an older man who was the boyfriend of our auntie when she was a child in exchange for money if she turns 18 and marry her-- and yes, she spend so many money and that's our dad's money he gives to her to take care for us and the needs we need.
Almost people think that our neighbor and our mom is like a couple...
Look I don't wanna doubt my mom, but I really don't know... she loves money, she really really does.
And, most of time she ditches my dad on videocall and put her phone to us so we can speak to him and not her, and low and behold. She doesn't always talk to dad and yep, she goes into our neighbor to talk and shit. Idk I'm really doubting her since she's usually the one who's uh have a big ego and.. loves and spend so much money.
My sister's gut insticts are always right for something like this, so Idk...
    Should i doubt her?

Me and my high school friends (2005-2008) were so innocent? I guess ? Because we had cellphones full of pictures and music and we used to borrow each others phones and literally go thru them looking at their pictures, listen to their music, heck we would switch SIM cards and keep each others phones for weeks! sometimes even reading texts!!! Maybe it was something my circle of friends did but it was normal for us! Then a couple years later after graduating I was working at this place where most of my co workers were older ladies between ages 45-60 and I asked one of them if I could borrow her phone and me in my very -normal- routine I went to her pictures and holy crap I panicked when I saw her nudes! Needless to say I never ever ever ever did that again, right there I understood me and my friends had this very close friendship quite innocent and these ladies or other people were not a part of it and I should never do that again, I did learn about privacy the hard way.

I've seen a lot of things I wish I hadn't, but the worst was my friend & I opening my mum's bedroom door one morning & seeing her riding her bf. My mum looks like a melted candle so it was pretty horrific on a few levels. The worst bit was I was still a young teen & didn't know what happened to balls during the act & that day my friend & I found out. Ugly, ugly sight. My poor friend. Is it worse for the friend or the daughter to see that? I think we're both scarred.

Once walked in on my parents having sex. I already knew what it was, but that doesn't say much since I learned about sex when I was like 9, but I think this incident happened when I was like 11. I just walked in to my parents room for some reason (they normally made sure to put in the lock if they don't want to be disturbed) only to make out my dad on top of my mom. I couldn't see much details as they were backlit, but it was enough to figure it out. Apparently I just turned around and noped out of there without making a sound, because neither knew what I was talking about when I mentioned it later.
Also, dad would occasionally forget us kids were home (we were quiet, raised to not make much noise in case mom was sleeping) and wander out of his room fresh out of a shower. One time he even forgot a shower when I was sitting in the big chair in our living room, about 12-13 this time. Got a nice picture of my dad's birthday suit. Thank god I have since repressed the details enough that it's mostly just fuzzy.
Worst was when I was 13, dad was drunk, walked out and smacked my mom upside the head. Now dad drank a lot and my parents' marriage was falling apart, not that they wanted to acknowledge it. However, he rarely ever did shit in front of my brother or I, especially after one time getting arrested in the early morning hours of my brother's 8th birthday (an incident which traumatized my brother, but is used to show just how deep I sleep, because guess who had no idea what happened until it was time to wake up for school). Anyways, I submitted a witness report, which meant I had to go to court and testify that yes, what I wrote is what I saw happen. According to both mom and dad after, they never wanted either my brother or I to see something like that, and if they could, we never would have, and if they noticed sooner, they wouldn't have let me submit a witness testimony.
