Our Work Process:
1. Come up with questions, research, script, come up with opinions/commentary, polish until ready for recording.
2. Record voice acting the stories/questions, sharing thoughts and opinions and performing it in a creative and transformative fashion for viewers to enjoy.
3. Record gameplay until there is enough interesting footage to use for the background
4. Throw the gameplay in the editing software and then begin typing up the captions, cutting/trimming the voice acting, adding SFX, color correction, removing/adding clips, etc.
5. Final review of the video, if video is not up to the quality desired for this channel. Either go back into the editing software, re-record some lines, change opinions/commentaries.
Someone tried drugging my teacher with horse tranquilizers as joke to make him fall asleep. Only problem was they tripled the dose for horses. Thankfully another student tipped him off. Apparently once the tea was analyzed they found the dose was so high one sip and he’d have died. He told the class every year to make a point not to do stupid stuff
People say snitches get stitches but they also save lives. I wish people could just do harmless pranks like how they used to instead of literally trying to kill someone as a prank, and how did this kid get horse tranquilizers💀

That’s definitely a unique one. There’s a surprisingly large number of cases where teachers had to be hospitalized at the minimum because a kid snuck hand sanitizer in their drink “as a “prank.” It’s a big reason why I never leave open drinks or food out unattended when students are present in the classroom.
Man most subs in my school were loved by the students. Whenever students would walk in and see them instead of the teacher they would go nuts.

the school I went too most Teachers were enjoyable to hang out with, most subs were fun to have and even the Security Guards we had were nice to hang out with besides 1 or 2 that are quite strict
my school was mostly the same, but there was 1-2 awful subs that before class you would literally hear the other students talking about how the bad sub was at school
Not a teacher but the lunch lady in high school. I was newly diagnosed with diabetes and couldn't eat breakfast at home as it would make me late for school. Mother told me to get breakfast there. Lunch lady denied me KIX because the cereal had "too much sugar". Somehow she had graduated from lunch lady to my doctor. I gave up arguing with her and went to class. Not much later, I fell out my desk unconscious with a blood sugar level of 20. She almost unalived me. Hospitalized for two weeks. Needless to say Mother was super peeved. So I certainly understand the problem the diabetic student had.
(Please tell me the lunch lady got punished in some way)

Yep. Thankfully most of the teachers I've had were nice and treated us with respect (one would even bring in bagels and English muffins for us sometimes, as her class was our first class of the day), and we in turn treated them with respect. I still remember one time when I was in the middle of class in HS, my cell phone rang (and it was a damn telemarketer who'd somehow gotten my cell phone number, as it was a number I did not recognize at all), and I just apologized to the teacher and explained that I thought I'd turned my phone off, and that I only had it with me in case of an emergency. He accepted the apology and didn't punish me at all for it as I was never a problem student.
Im 13 and some teacher get disrespected by the student so the teacher stopped respecting the student that dont respect him
@@julien_7307 Sounds reasonable to me, though not the way I'd go about it personally. Keep in mind that teachers are in a tough spot in which they have the potential to be reprimanded or even lose their jobs if your teacher punished the student (like with detention or extra work) and that student's parents complained. He also runs this risk if he doesn't do anything about it, as well as signaling to other kids that this behavior is OK.

I had a babysitter once that made me really mad so what happened. It was Saint Patricks Day. And my "quirky character trait" is to always wear the wrong holiday so I got my Christmas shirt and Halloween pants and I skipped into my mom's room before she left for work like hehe look at me being quirky! And she was like haha, my silly child, and so like two hours later or whatever my babysitter announces to me and my brothers that we're going to a St Patrick's parade and I'm like yippee let's go but then she's like "Um, you're not wearing that to a St Patrick's day parade" and i'm like "...what?" And she's like "Wearing the wrong holiday causes chaos and chaos isn't a good thing" and i'm like "?????? but my mom said it's okay?? I just talked to her this morning???" and she's like "oh, sure she did, I bet she just nodded or something, did she really say it was okay, uhuh uhuh sure." and just like bro I hate it when people accuse me of lying for like literally no reason it's so stupid like she'd been babysitting us for however long, i had never lied to her, what the heck??? (also because i am a stubborn person she was like either you change or don't go to the parade and I didn't go to the parade so. Very little regrets."
Aw I kinda feel bad for the sub that believed the kids when they said they'd finished the worksheets and were supposed to watch a movie. Just really gullible and too trusting, probably a nice guy

I had probably the single most amazing substitute teacher.
For context, we had an exam sceduled on a monday wich was the last day before the official winterholyday, so the school decided to give everyone off, exept ofcourse our class for that exam.
We were threatened that we had to show up for it and misding it would automaticly get you the worst grade.
So the day of the test arrives and all the annoyed students were there, and a substitude teacher, who was equally annoyed, our teacher took the day off apparently, so the sub just handed out our tests, sat down, put earplugs in opened a book and said "if you got any questions tap my shoulder" and turned their back on us leaning on the table to read.
Needless to to say the whole class got the highest marks due to the shared hivemind that suddenly manifestested.

Mine is a horror story with a happy ending. In high school between years 7-9 there’s be this one teacher you could get as a substitute who was awful. Yelled all the time, would scream at kids. No bathroom breaks, even if you were a girl on your period. I found out in year 10 he would be my English teacher for the year and I groaned. I’m dyslexic and have trouble keeping up so I was boarderline panic attack… He actually turned out to be a good teacher. This was his first year as a permanent position and he really chilled out and actually became one of the only teachers who’d help me with my dyslexia, even helping me with other classes during his lunch periods. He told me he fought to have me put into his year 11 and 12 classes too (which I was) because he could see that not just my English grades but most my grades had improved and I’d thanked him for it. Turned into the only teacher I still remember fondly from all of high school.

I had an elementary school teacher who was like that. He wasn’t unstrict, but I’d heard from other students that he was a NIGHTMARE to be in class with. All through 5th grade I’m like “I mean maybe he’s mellowed out?” then in the last few weeks of school he asks us all to tell other students that he’s super strict and mean. Figured out pretty quickly after that why he had that reputation, lol.

Had a sub in choir that was talking about pornography in front of a bunch of 7th graders, 7TH GRADERS. We all knew this was wrong and we were disgusted. The next day when our teacher came back, i got pulled aside and talked to about why i went to the bathroom for 30 minutes. I told her i was in the office and explained why. She was rightfully disgusted

Not really a sub, but one of my teachers got caught a few months ago for straight-up watching that stuff (it was hooked up to the school projector). the news spread like wildfire. unfortunately, they were only given suspension for a few weeks. It was the sssniperwolf situation all over again.
i mean in my 7th grade a sub teacher once showed us a graphic video of a woman giving birth in health class (i was traumatized rightfully)

My grandma, born in 1918, got this treatment. My dad was allowed to write left handed. I, born in the mid eighties, had my kindergarten teacher try to force me to write left-handed, because my right-handed handwriting was so bad that my right couldn't possibly be my dominant hand, could it? I don't blame her, because my handwriting was absolutely atrocious, but it's interesting to see how teaching philosophy evolved over the 20th century.
@@HonkLoserA teacher did that to me, because she thought I might be using the wrong hand accidentally (I couldn't tell she was wrong because I couldn't tell directions apart). The result was, that after a few years, I was able to correct it. AFTER A FEW YEARS.
It was an important stage of my life to develop writing, 8 years old.

In first grade, I was a problem student. We had a sub one day, and no one liked her. During reading circle (the teacher would read as we all gathered on the carpet and listened), I lost my tooth. There was lots of blood and the sub told me to swallow it. She said she knew I was a problem student and wouldn’t allow me to leave class for any reason, just in case I never came back. I threw up from the blood, and the most well behaved kid told the sub to shove it and walked me to the nurse. I don’t really remember what happened afterward, but if it weren’t for that one well-behaved kid, my teacher would not have believed me. We never had that sub again.
My school had a substitute that got irritated that a kid was on their phone after they finished their work, despite having nothing else to do. The sub told the student to go to the front office, and the kid muttered something, got up, and started to walk towards the door. The sub then stood in front of the door, preventing the student from leaving until he apologized. The kid said that the sub couldn't do that and tried to get by. The sub pushed the kid, and tensions rose quickly after that. Kids pulled out their phones, and the kid that was known as quiet and obedient almost fought the sub. The sub wasn't deescalating either. After this incident, the sub can no longer work for the high school, so now he works with Jr. High kids.

To be fair to the sub, sometimes it's a school policy thing with phones (the rest of it was, of course, ridiculous). First time I ever subbed I had a class that had nothing to do. It wasn't even really that there weren't lesson plans, there were, those lesson plans were 'catch up on work'. Most of the kids were caught up on work, and didn't have anything to do, or they were having issues with their laptop (all of the classwork was online). The kids were on their phones, it wasn't a big deal to me, until the admin came in and told off me and the whole class for having their phones out. I thought it was ridiculous, but, I still had to enforce it because I could get in trouble if the admin came back.
Im a student with functional autism but without social problems.
I have a medical problem with my bladder and large intestine.
Around the age of 6, my bladder stopped growing for some unknown reason which means that i had to go to the bathroom at regular intervals.
It also meant that i couldnt always feel/sense whether i had to pee or not.
The same goes for my large intestine. i had barely any control over my rectum muscle which is supposed to prevent any leakage from behind...
As such, a plan was made that i could go to the toilet at school whenever i had to and i carried a cellphone that had an alarm set every 2 hours so i would go to the toilet atleast every 2 hours just in case.
This system went on for about 10 years. Usually without much trouble.
However, there was this 1 new teacher of whom the rumors were that she was a feminist as she always favored the girls and she always chose 1 boy in every classroom that she would blame for everything or to focus her bad mood on.
Sadly, in my class, i was usually her victim.
She couldnt stand it that i was treated a bit differently than the others due tot being allowed to go to the toilet at any time.
One day, she took away my phone and even locked the door of the classroom (which is a REALLY big nono due to safety reasons).
At the end of the class, i went to the principal and told her about what had happened and the teacher was scolded and told that that she cant take away my phone and under no circumstances is allowed to lock the doors.
A few weeks later she locked the door again after i came back from the toilet.
The school nurse tried to enter the classroom as she was bringing the meds for one of the students but she couldnt get in.
The school nurse had the teacher explain herself and the principal was walking by at that moment and overheard everything. She went ballistic on the teacher and told her that if it ever happened again, she would be fired on the spot.
Afterwards, she was still a b*tch but atleast she didnt try to prevent me from going to the toilet anymore, nor did she take away my phone.
Nowdays, i do have pretty much full control over my bladder and rectum muscle, so accidents are very rare.
im just happy that during school, not a single student ever bullied me for it...

My school had a substitute teacher who took away my Chromebook because I was messing around with Google Translate. I just thought it might be good to take a break and just mess around for like 15 seconds before going back to doing my work, but the teacher took away my Chromebook. This is a coding class; I NEED my Chromebook. The students, being the a**holes they were, decided to take his side even though they weren’t even bothered by it before, and then they proceeded to bully me to the point of crying (I was a sensitive kid). Even my friend joined in. What’s worse, the sub did NOTHING about it. I proceeded to ask for my Chromebook back after class and this incompetent idiot wouldn’t give it back even though it was the end of class. I had to tell the office just to get it back.

Not a teacher but happened when I was in middle school, one sub came in visibly hungover, yelled at anyone who talked above a whisper and we basically sat in the dark the whole period trying to watch a movie with the sound turned down to barely audible while dude slept. Actual teacher came back the next day and was FUMING- not at us but at the sub. He ended up letting us rewatch the movie as an apology. Needless to say, the sub wasn’t invited back.
Other sub was kind of weird, one classmate was visibly uncomfortable when the dude walked in to teach. When we asked her why she said “it’s a long story” and we didn’t press her for further details.
Other than that, the day went great, everybody was on their best behavior and finished all their work. That was until the classes main teacher came back the next day pissed. Apparently, the sub left a bad report saying we were loud and disrespectful. Luckily the Co Ed was there to back us up (this was one of the only times I was happy to have an IEP because the only reason the co Ed was there was because of me).
The only weird thing was that the classmate who was uncomfortable around the sub started apologizing to our teacher because she had suspicion that the sub left a bad report because she was in his class that day. All she said was “I’ve had him before and he doesn’t like me.”
I feel bad for the girl, the discomfort could be because he tried to get with her, she said no, and he got pissy.

When I was like 14 or 15 years old we got a sub for art class. It happened really early into the year and lasted almost the whole semester (long story as to why). Well, I'd just accepted that I was a lesbian and "came out" and all that, and I was finally confident enough to start making artwork about female couples. Nothing graphic obviously, just girls holding hands and kissing, really cringey teen stuff. Well, the sub absolutely HATED it when I made artwork like that, so every time I did, she would fail my work. Everyone else got a pass, even if all they did was zone out and make a few lines on a page. I watched kids hand in drawing prompts that were just a few scribbles and she'd just pass them all because she didn't really care that much. But me? I almost failed art class. Art class! As someone who loves to draw and had been so excited for an art class for years, it really made me sad. But I'm also petty, hence why I never stopped drawing girls kissing lol I wish I could have somehow taken pictures of her face every time I handed one in to her.
If someone did that with me, I would be so furious ugh I would go straight to the principal’s office. I’m not very good in art but if I got an asshole like that I would just ask a friend to fake date me until that teacher exploded. Bruh, I’d have thrown hands at them and I’m the quiet and obedient girl in class. I’m bisexual 🏳️🌈 so yeah. It is so enraging to know that people can’t accept others because they love their own gender. Love is love and if you are happy, that’s what’s important ugh I can’t understand it, this world is so shitty and broken sometimes

@@jakecarroll9500 Yeah I don't like PDA so it was just holding hands and giving a peck as we parted ways, that's the most I was comfortable with. But nope, the sub stayed, and a few other teachers also hated me. Some wanted me to be expelled. This all took place in the very early 00s, if that offers a bit of perspective.
I’m straight, but that sub’s behavior is disgusting. There was clearly nothing graphic, and the sub only failed it because she didn’t agree. If I was the principal, I would’ve had her fired instantly.
I am a special Ed teacher for students with moderate to severe disabilities. I have had so many bad subs.
One day I was taking a paperwork day, where I was in the school but in a different room taking care of grading and paperwork, while a sub was with my class. I went in and out of the class a few times to grab data. Everytime I entered the room the sub was not following my lesson plans and was ignoring the students. Which is not safe with students with high needs. I would have to tell her what she should be doing and show her the lesson plans. One time I came in and the sub was sitting at my desk ignoring my students while one of my students with downs syndrome was up trying to lead the class in the typical schedule. I went to the principal to have her removed from our school's list and to make sure someone was checking on her the rest of the day.
Another substitute let a student run out the emergency door and didn't bother to follow him out or let anyone know. The student was running around the parking lot and in the street. He was a medically fragile kid and it was only noticed when someone informed the office he was having a seizure in the parking lot.
Several of my students are not toilet trained. I left detailed notes on what students need changed and when and the protocols. One of my students was not changed the entire day and day around in a wet pull up. The mom brought the district to litigation. The annoying part is that subs aren't allowed to physically touch undressed students. However there has to always be 2 adults in the bathroom with the student for safety reasons. I didn't get in trouble because I had left detailed sub plans. But the principal did for not making sure there was someone certified to change kids in my absence.
Btw EA stands for Educational Assistant for those wondering. I have witnessed so many bad EA subs. One started crying and needed to leave the room to take a break because the student she was supposed to be working with was letting on the floor ignoring her. Meanwhile I was in the other side of the room being hot and kicked at by another student and totally calm. But she couldn't handle that he was letting on the floor and wouldn't sit at his desk.
I had another ES sub who was on her phone so morning and ignoring the kids. I kept asking her to put her phone away and she said she needed it to check her blood pressure (yes she said pressure not sugar). Ignoring that there is no FDA-approved blood pressure app. You don't normally need to play on your phone for 15 minutes when checking your blood pressure. And it doesn't normally look like Tetris. She left for her lunch break and didn't come back that afternoon.
However, one of the worst subs I encountered subbed for our music teacher last month. She didn't teach and out the sub plans. She refused to start teaching the class until she had memorized every students name. Since it was music class she had a new class every 30 minutes. She was trying to memorize hundreds of names in a day. While she was quizzing herself on students names the students had to sit there for half an hour with nothing to do while she asked them their names over and over. But the icing on the cake was that she left a kindergarten class alone unsupervised while she went to the staff room to not only make coffee but to sit and enjoy it for 10 minutes. The principal doesn't the rest of the day I'm her class.

I remember when I was in middle school I was about to start the year when I got a notification that my chosen English teacher would not be teaching us. She had left abruptly for some reason or another and the school got rather screwed. So what they did was bring in a sub as a full time teacher. She was a very friendly and a nice teacher but she struggled to keep a grip on the class, especially since she started on her year plan about a week before the year started. She had a rough time with our rather rough class. Some students were there to learn and or get through the class (myself included) and the rest were all monsters to her. Some openly mocked her and others would talk while she tried to teach. Now I have a tradition of when the holidays role around I make cookies with my family and then we give them to my brother and I’s teachers. A little holiday cheer as well as some potential help with any near by tests (at least that’s how I saw it). As I was getting to my cookies to each teacher all was going well. Then as the previous period ended and I went to her class I brought out the cookies and gave them to her and said Merry Christmas! and I just remember her being a bit stunned and she started crying and hugged me. I didn’t really know what to do so I just hugged her back. She thanked me, straightened herself and the got ready to start class. It took me a few years to realize that this was her first real teaching position and her dream was to teach,and it was going so horribly. We finished the year well but it has always bothered me that she followed her dream and then when she finally got to start doing it, it went so horribly.I hope she’s doing well now and things are better.

As a kid in 4th grade, our teacher got really sick and abruptly retired. We had a couple long term subs but also a couple short term ones. One of them we only had for a day, and he screamed so badly at us and told one girl to shut the hell up at the top of his lungs. 3 or 4 girls all left together to go get another teacher and we had a merged class for like a week where we just got shuffled around to all the other 4th grade teachers until they got another sub. It didn't scare me at the time because me and my brother were little bastards, but I still think about it because if you're not used to being yelled at - like my kids - I could definitely see how it could traumatize them. Also was the first time I saw kids rise up and get a teacher fired.
The worst I've seen was a substitute teacher make a 6 year old student cry and then hit him for overreacting. Never saw her again.
Back when I was a building sub there was a classroom in my building that was for emotional support students who were also juvenile offenders. All of these kids had spent time in juvie at one point. They wouldn't listen to a single adult besides their teachers, and me for some reason. The principal tried several different subs in there but every time it would end in chaos. Then one day he put me in there and the kids were actually pretty chill with me. We got along, they did the work that their teacher left, and they never tried to pull anything on me. So from then on I was the only person allowed to sub in that room. Even when they saw me in the hall they would say hi and be nice to me but then scowl at the other teachers. No clue why they liked me though.
chances are you treated them like people instead of potential problems. even if it wasn't intentional, kids will pick up on that

A substitute at our school got fired. Why? German Listening Exam. We were given THREE chances to listen to each piece of audio and write down in English what was being said. Substitute went “Oh, the sound quality isn’t very good, is it, would you like it played one more time?” Students in the class said yes (obviously) and word got back to the regular teacher who put in a complaint about that class being given an unfair advantage by the substitute.
This was in high school in Junior year. I'm not a teacher, but I'm a student. We had a sub in Biology. I had vocal ticks that time. So when it was class time, the sub told us to take out our homework so he can stamp it. Well, my vocal ticks were audibly heard (they're not extreme, but just normal sounding) and I tried my best to be quiet. He kept hearing my vocal ticks and he then yelled out "Who's making those noises?!" and that's where I was dead silent because I'm too scared to speak up. My three classmates went up to him and told him that it's a medical condition I had. A few minutes later, the principal came and told me to go with him (He was driving a golf cart). He transferred me to the classroom where I usually go to take my exam since it's a really active class and that no one could hear my ticks and the teacher is very nice knows about my condition. From what I heard before I was sent to that classroom for only a day, the sub yelled at my classmates when it was break time for no reason when they walked by. From the attitude and the look, I was really scared to and thought it wouldn't end well for me.
3:40 reminds me not of a sub, but of one of my old teachers. One of the students (who's usually disruptive) needed a crutch because he'd injured his foot, and he put it on a chair near where he sat. By the way, he wasn't doing anything with it while he was sitting. The teacher called it "disruptive" and moved the crutch ACROSS THE ROOM and out of his reach. When he needed to get up to go to the bathroom, he scooted awkwardly in his chair to retrieve it (we didn't offer to help because we didn't notice until after he'd reached the crutches).

Student here. Halfway through 2nd grade, my teacher left due to maternity leave. She had to stay home for the rest of the year due to complications. The sub who replaced her was the worst teacher I’d ever come across and I’ve had some bad teachers. She was a hag who clearly despised children and for some reason me in particular. I was the smallest of the kids there and really quiet girl who was attentive in class and rarely raised my hand to answer questions unless I was 100% sure I knew the answer. For some unknown reason, she began to pick on me. She’d yell at me for my pencil rolling off the desk by accident, if she heard whispering she’d shush me, and give me snarky remarks throughout the day. She started to kick me out of the classroom almost everyday for disturbing the class even though I did nothing wrong. At some point she’d drag me by my neck and shove me into a chair and desk designated just for me right outside the door. Nobody in that class did anything to help me, but what could you do against the old twig monster when you’re 6 or 7 years old? So I don’t blame them. I’m still shocked that none of the staff saw her doing this to me or maybe they ignored the subs’ behavior, I have no clue. This was in 2002-03, so nobody really cared about that kind of behavior anyways.
I got to the point of being so scared of her I would just start to sit outside at “my desk” with my hands covering the back of my head with my forehead down on the desk and wait for her to berate me and get hit by her pen and scraggly fingers on the back of my head and neck. After six months of verbal, mental, and physical abuse, the year finally ended.
Middle of Summer vacation, I finally have the courage to tell my mom about what happened to me during the school year after my teacher left. She was furious to say the least. Her momma bear came out when she called the school, the principal, and anyone she could get ahold of since this was during the break. Sadly since the year was over, nothing could be done and she just disappeared somehow even though she was there for 6 months straight. I don’t even think they banned her from teaching if they did find her. I hope she’s rotting in heck for what she did to me. I never recovered from that year and have hated school ever since.
TLDR: A hag of a sub in 2nd grade focused her bad intentions on me for no reason, would drag me out of class by my neck for “interrupting” the class, and continued to verbally, mentally, and physically abuse me for the last 6 months of the year.

I've got one from college where half the class walked out. It was an evening class at community college for low level math. The class was over 2 hours with a break in the middle and met twice per week. The sub didn't want to give the break in the middle. Sucks, but whatever. Then told my classmates and I that we weren't allowed to leave the classroom for any reason. Now, based on the class time you might guess that my classmates and I weren't all fresh out of high school. You would be correct in that. The youngest of us was in their late 20s. This sub had just attempted to tell a room full of adults that are paying to take this class that they couldn't go to the toilet. I decided to ignore anything she said that was not math related. A few of my classmates followed my lead. This teacher then decided it was a wise idea to try insulting me. Not being one to back down from a challenge, I laid into her. I first corrected her lies regarding my grade in that class, then proceeded to insult her lack of professionality. Once I was done, I walked out along with more than half the class. The next class, word was that less than a third of the class came in after seeing her in the room. Apparently I wasn't the only one who felt insulted and belittled by this sub.
I can understand subs trying to intimidate kids but this woman was just insane for trying to pull this shit on grown ass adults.

One time in middle school, my history teacher was out and we had a sub that was very laid back and didn’t really care about anything that we were doing. This wouldn’t have been too much of an issue, except for the fact that we were supposed to take notes on a video the sub played for us on the projector. While they did play the video, they did nothing to control the other kids in class who were just yelling at each other and drowning out the video with their noise, meaning I couldn’t take a single note. The sub literally did nothing but look at his phone the entire class, as if he weren’t even at a school. Now, I’m normally quite a quiet kid, but this teacher made me so furious that once class ended and everyone else went to their next periods, I stayed behind to talk with them. I may have been a little harsh, but I basically said that he had to have been the worst teacher I ever had. Later in the day, he saw me in the hallway and threatened me with detention if I ever even dared to talk to him like that ever again, literally backing me against the wall of lockers and getting in my face, basically berating me until I was on the verge of tears. This sub literally ignored actual troublemakers who were disrupting the class with yells and nonsense and instead chose to threaten me for telling him he wasn’t too good of a teacher. Never saw him again after that day, even though I never went to the principal to complain about him (even though I should’ve)

I had something similar! I had this 11th grade science teacher in high school who would always let the class asshole do whatever so long as it didn't distract the teacher himself, yet when I was quietly playing a mobile game(brightness turned all the way down and still taking notes lmao), I was the one that had to not only be yelled at, but escorted out of the class and banned from re-entering for the rest of the period simply cuz I said that the ted talk he put up was boring(Brian Cox is a funny name, but my god give us something more pleasant to look at instead of just a guy standing on a dark stage) and I was trying to stay engaged by playing my game quietly, and that the other kid was actively goofing off and distracting everyone else in the class. Yes, he banned me from coming back to class to continue my learning because I dared question the aesthetic choices of a guy I never heard about again after graduating and dared to question his ability to actually reign in a knowing problem child who often never showed up on time, if at all, and actively vaped in the classroom(which was not allowed in the school for the same reason as smoking a cigarette).
He also made a lot of weird comments, like calling an asian kid chinese(he wasn't actually chinese), shrugging when I was actively getting bullied by his favorite student right in front of him and another teacher who asked what was going on, and the semester after(when I wasn't taking his class anymore as it moved to the next two core subjects), he stared at me in the hall while I was getting a drink of water. I stared back, cuz I did not trust him, especially when a friend mentioned that he made her feel very uncomfortable(We reported all his BS to the counselor and principal when I heard that), and he just slowed his walk to a standstill to watch me drink. I kept my eye on him as I finished and then quickly walked away back to my classroom, not looking back to see if he was following me or not.
That was in my final year(had to skip 10th grade science for some reason), so I have no clue wtf happened to him.
tl;dr My science teacher did not bother actually doing the job he was paid for and acted really sus.
Not a teacher, but I was a student. I had this 504 plan all throughout my life due to a medical condition. One of the 'rules' in my 504 plan was that I could use the bathroom whenever I needed to. This one time, my 5th grade class had a sub. I asked the sub if I could use the bathroom. He loudly says in front of the whole class, "Oh yeah, you have that medical condition thingy. Go ahead." Now, no one in my class knew about my medical condition. Only 2 of my best friends knew about it and they didn't know much about it. I was super embarrassed and I told my mom about it after school that day. She was pissed and called my school and filed a complaint. The sub got no repurcutions for it.
Story 1: You're exactly right about the sub. If you had any (usually female) bullies in school, and noticed what courses they were taking, it'd normally be either courses to later be a teacher or nurse. They act like they're doing it to be a good person but they're really doing it in order to keep bullying others since it'd be a lot harder for them to bully able-bodied adults when they grow up. This doesn't mean that every kid in a nurse or teaching program is a bully, but those programs attract bullies because they want to still harm others and get away with it because their new victims are either young or otherwise vulnerable.
So this explains why the majority of catholic elementary school teachers were terrible, they were bullies that never grew the hell up.
From a student's perspective
We had a mentally ill classmate (let's call him jeff) and one day when our teacher was sick a substitute came in (of course) anyway that substitute absolutely lost it when they saw that Jeff wasn't doing his work at the moment. So instead of calmly talking to him and giving him one of his fidget toys which the substitute had taken away during the morning. We only learnt then that they were even taken away. But anyway the substitute started yelling at Jeff to go to the office and do their work. Anyway an EA walking by saw what was happening and ran to get the principal. The substitute was sent to a correctional facility after they discovered a hunting knife in their bag. We NEVER heard from that substitute again...
I just wonder... what were they planning to do with that knife?

I have two stories.
So, the language teachers had been fighting for years to get the funds to buy three portable CD-players. Those were our priced possessions and we took excellent care of them, knowing that we wouldn't be able to replace them in a decade at least. Cue Sub1.
I had to call out sick and in the lesson plans Sub1 had to play a unit from the workbook for the students to fill out some words. Somehow he couldn't grasp that he had to press PLAY, and he kept getting angrier and angrier as he couldn't start the CD. The students offered to help him, but the doofus instead threw the CD player onto the floor and then jumped on the pieces. He then stuffed the pieces in a cupboard and told the students that if they told anyone what he had done he would blame them.
He then went on to bully and belittle students in another class and told another group that he didn't give a s*it if they worked or not; all he was there for was to get paid.
When I returned the following day the students immediately told me what had happened, and then the other groups told me about his horrible behaviour towards them. I found the ex-CD player and grabbed the vice principal to show him the sad remnants of my pride and joy. He also listened to the students and marched off to the principal. The sub was subbing for another teacher that day, but they grabbed him during class and threw him out. The principal then made sure that Sub1 was blacklisted at all schools in our city.
A couple of months later I had an incident with a student. Or, well, not really. We got along just fine. Let's call the student Laura. Laura was very outspoken and loud and never hesitated to tell you her opinion. This afternoon I noticed that she wasn't feeling well and she was quiter than usual. However, I knew that she had one class left of the school day and many students if they fell ill at the end of the school day preferred to soldier through. Plus, I didn't want to be a nuisance and nag about how she clearly needed to go home; that had happened to me back in 8th grade and....
OK, let's take that story in between. So, I was walking in the hallway at my school when Teacher1 approached me and told me that I looked horrible and had to go home immediately. I was fine, and said so. One minute later Teacher2 told me that I looked awful and had to go home. I was still fine. Within five minutes SEVEN teachers approached me and tried to force me to go home.
Only then did I figure out the issue: I was wearing a new sweatshirt and clearly yellow isn't my colour. When I wear yellow my skin get a sicklish greenish hue and I look like I am about to fill a hallway with puke at any moment.
So, I am not a great fan of teachers urgings students to go home. They can ask themselves if they need to.
So, after my class I spoke to the teacher Laura had for the next class. I knew that she never had any of the forms for sending home students in her classroom as she hated sending students home. When she heard how ill Laura was she brought one with her though, and Laura asked almost immediately to go home. As my colleague had brought the form with her this was done in a heartbeat.
That night Laura's mother called me, completely irate, and accused me of holding her daughter prisoner and refusing her to leave school when she was sick. It didn't make much sense and I ended up speaking to her husband who at least could comprehend what had happened (and agreed that his daughter was loud enough to ask herself, which she never did in my class).
I spoke to Laura once she returned from her sick leave, and she was very embarrassed about her mom. Her mom had just made up some wild story and laura couldn't explain why her mom was aloon, but, well, I grew up with a mom of a similar caliber so I knew how weird stuff happened that you couldn't affect because your mom was a toxic b*tch.
A while later I woke up one morning with no voice. I could croak a few words, and I was also sporting a charming +40C fever that made me quite delirious. I called out sick and explain to our admin that I could barely speak and was out of it. She called in a sub.
Laura's darling mom, hereafter called LM.
LM called me and I croaked as I told he rthe lesson plan for the day, making sure she understood that I was out of it and was going back to sleep.
She called me again 10 minutes later, informing me that she had lost he rnotes and could I repeat it. I was barely able to.
Then she called again 15 minutes later, and then 10 minutes after that and finally again 10 minutes after that. She kept constantly losing her notes.
The final time she called I couldn't speak. I croaked that she could do whatever and hung up.
LM told my colleagus about how she had tormented me all morning and thrown away my plans. She informed them that her plan was to get me fired and take over my position. She then went to the principal and reported me for not handing her any lesson plans.
That was the morning. Come lunch time all hell broke lose. I am still salty about the fact that I was at home, lost in some fever dream, when this majestic event happened.
My desk was opposite my formidable colleague whom we call Hurricane (in honour of her maiden name). She was a very senior teacher and used to being in charge in every situation. Her main issue in life was that she had major beef with her crazy neighbour.
Oh yes. That would be LM.
Once these two realized that they would have to spend the day staring at each other tempers flared, and LM jumped Hurricane. Hurricane was built like a brick door and easily over powered her, and they went on to have a regular fist fight. It ended when our principal and vice principal escorted LM off the premises. By then her shenanigans had been revealed and she was told to never return, not even in a parental role.
And yes, I was really pampered once I returned, after the horrible treatment I had endured from LM. Our admin was besides herself when she heard that LM had called me six times out of spite (which most certainly wasn't her fault; she just happened to chose a crazy person to sub that day).
These are some hell of a stories.
I was diagnosed with T1 diabetes in January of my junior year in high school, 1985. As much as technology is so vastly greater in treating the condition today (the 24/7 glucose measurements done every 5 minutes by a CGM are truly life altering, and quality ones didn't exist until maybe 10-15 years ago), I am so glad I am not school age today. In my days, you had to inject insulin, do finger stick blood tests, and treat low blood sugars with food that you carried on your person. You did not have time to walk to your locker or buy something from a machine. If you need rescue sugar, you need it NOW. Back then there were no questions about me having syringes, insulin, finger stick devices, and food with me always. Now a days, that would be a problem. I can't imagine having to go to the nurses station every time I needed to do a blood test or get an insulin shot.
Prepared teachers have their exams in their desks, and the sub found them & didn’t bother to follow directions.
When I was a teacher, I had a manual for my subs, and I had subs who didn’t even bother to flip through it. They seemed to think that just because I wasn’t there that I wouldn’t find out what they had done in my classroom. But they didn’t realize that I literally had over 150 people who were watching their every move and reporting back to me. And I listened to my kids because they knew how I ran my classroom.
We had this one sub who despite being reported by multiple students and their parents MANY MANY TIMES, never got reprimanded or "fired" or anything. He was giving out pushups, situps, wall sits, planks etc as "punishment" for "talking back" aka ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS HE WAS ASKING! Just not in a "respectful enough" tone or some BS like that... I couldn't and still can't do those kinds of exercises due to joint and muscular issues, had doctors' notes for my PE classes to allow me to do alternative exercises instead and everything. But this guy didn't even sub PE, he'd sub mainly math classes and LOVED corporal punishment because "in the military they don't let you be p*ssies about this sh*t". He was horribly misogynistic and queerphobic (and racist, which didn't affect me but did many of my friends, acquaintances and classmates). Eventually he wasn't allowed to sub at our school anymore because of something he did at another school. I never found out exactly what he did, but parents from this other school supposedly threatened to sue him so I think he just retired. He was already nearly 80 at the time and only subbing because he "was bored and someone needs to teach these b*stards what's what!". Yeah, he cursed a lot too...

I'm was a teacher for special education classes (I worked 8 years in the field and quit the year after this incident occurred) and am father to a special needs student. I had to call in a sub one day to take my son to the city for a doctor's appointment after he'd broken his knee cap. Every single one of my students has either a 504 or an IEP, or in some cases both, that should be read before teaching a class so you know the accommodations for each child. The sub decided that these VERY IMPORTANT LEGALLY BINDING DOCUMENTS weren't worth their time to read. She then has a student ask to go to the office (ironically, my daughter specifically). The sub demanded to see her pass book to sign a pass to go to the office. However, my daughter's 504 allows her unlimited access to the office without the use of passes to get her PRN medication for voices she hears caused by her autoimmune encephalitis. But because she's effectively like someone with a traumatic brain injury, she lacked the ability to explain to the sub why she didn't need a pass and instead refused the sub her pass book. Not having the pass book, the sub then refused her request to go to the office. My daughter ended up throwing a desk through the classroom window because the voices told her to, getting her a three day out of school suspension. I had to sue my own school district for breach of contract because of the sub not following my daughter's 504 and the principal allowing a suspension to stand on those grounds. I won obviously, and firing me after that would have been seen as retaliatory and only led to more lawsuits, but they made sure it was no longer a friendly work environment, and I quit the following year.

I hate "no bathroom" rules for ANY age. It doesnt matter. Yes, many kids abuse the bathroom. Talk on their phones, chat with friends, wait for the bell so they can go early.. but holding it can cause permanent issues.
It was Senior year in high school and we had gotten a sub that taught our class previously before. We were learning American History each decade per week, upon this day we were learning about the early years of the post war. This Sub must have been born in the ‘50s because he started to talk about his life like, “as I was growing up in this time, America was like…” kind of thing. With no questions directed towards him, he started to talk about Woodstock and communism. In short, it was a massive rant that took 45 minutes. The entire classroom was quiet, almost able to hear a pin drop; many of us had worried looks in our eyes. The Sub had spoken in such passion, I thought he was reliving that part of the past. Once our regular teacher returned, he had inquired what had happened and he didn’t sub our class. The Sub was actually a really cool substitute with many great stories, I had him before in other classes, but on that day he dropped the ball. I think he retired, but I’m not too sure.
Couldn't get a dog sitter, so instead of leaving it at home (plenty warm enough to stay in the garden, it was early September and our area was having a heat wave), kept the dog in the car for the entire school day. Now obviously hot cars kill dogs, so she kept leaving to let the dog out for a few minutes, and was late bringing the kids back in after break because she was out walking the dog. This was manageable. What wasn't manageable is that our class (ages 4-6) leave at 2:30pm, with the older kids leaving at 3pm, meaning any children in our class that takes a taxi, has to wait until 3pm. As soon as it hit 2:30pm, she left. My work hours are 9:30-2:30, so I was also meant to leave...except she left a student alone, to wait unattended in the classroom, for 30 minutes, so needless to say I waited with the kid because I'm not about to leave a small child alone.
She did also abandon the lesson plan and timetable (we have a structured visual timetable as we have a few autistic students that need the routine), and let the kids free for all pick out what work to do. It had all been set out in groups varying by ability, so the ones who struggle would be supported by the teacher or assistant. I walked in at half 9 and there was just paperwork everywhere, ripped books, counting 1-10 sheets covered in shoe prints, and when I asked what happened, she said "Well, I thought they would know what they were doing since it was all set out. But this one refuses to listen at all for some reason." (Pointing to the non-verbal autistic child) Like it hadn't occurred to her that maybe the 4 year olds that are still learning to write their names properly might need a bit more support than "independent learning". She'd completely ignored the soft start, which really confused our additional needs students, and she couldn't work out why that routine change would cause so many behaviour outbursts.
I was a teacher back from 1969 to 1974. Remember the gas shortage? Had to stop teaching because I couldn't get gas to commute. I taught 5th grade Social Studies and Science. I was giving my class a SS test. For my Science lesson I was preparing a couple of domesticated garter snakes which were laying on my desk. An office clerk came into my room, saw the snakes, screamed and ran out. My students were laughing so hard that the test was a bust. The principal, a nun, came in to see what was what. She picked up one snake and I had the other one hiding in my blouse. We were explaining the lives of the snakes for the rest of the period. She then warned the office clerk to knock before entering and I would get info from her by the door. Those were the days!!

This is actually a good sub I had, in 9th grade our history teacher had fallen off his roof and broke both his legs so we had a sub for several months, he was like 22 and had no idea what he was doing, so we did hardly anything for half the year. Mr. Creasy if you see this, you were cool.
i'm not a teacher but i was a kid in elementary school, i believe 7th grade (of 8), our usual teacher wasn't there today for reasons i don't remember, so we got a substitute teacher. normally all the substitutes were really good, they were kind and one guy was cool enough to decide he's gonna let the kids "fool" him, he just decided to give us more freedom. However one substitute teacher was uh... quite the experience.
it was a rather young woman, i'd say around 22-23ish years old, not unheard of for subs to teach elementary around that age, but i did notice she was rather young. she was nice but i noticed something about her was off, i looked to see the faces of my classmates and i noticed they too thought something was off, but no one knew why, but we all just behaved like normal (we were the good class of our generation 😌). however something happened that changed the day forever.
we were working on our spellings after the subject's teachings for the day, so it was quiet... until we heard rather loud *thud!* we looked up and our sub teacher's head was lying face-first on the table. most of us thought either she was joking or was just tired and fell asleep, until one classmate started panicking and ran off to the principal to get help, she fainted! i remember all the dumbfounded faces of my classmates once we found out she fainted, and we started murmmering wondering if she was okay, until the principal arrived, saw her laying there and sent everyone out of class, and every kid from my class were moved to different classes spread around the different grades, but with some struggle as we wanted to know what was going on. i remember getting a glimpse of her being awake again crying for some reason, and the principal trying to comfort her while being a little harsh at the same time. when it was time when we normally had our first break however, we were sent home, much earlier then usually allowed to, and walking home didn't feel good this time either.
it was eventually revealed that our sub teacher had been DRINKING before coming to school. and not just 1 drink, no 15 cans of beer!! 11 years later i am still dumbfounded at how she came to that decision to drink 15 cans of beer right before she had to teach
I am a teacher, but have never had a substitute take over my class.
Simply put, I am hourly, the university doesn't pay for my time off, and there is always a day every semester for make-up lessons should one day need to be skipped or rescheduled. So in the 10+ years doing this, I took off maybe 3 days, all of which were made up later in the semester.
Not sure if this is a better system.
Now I have BEEN a sub many times. And it is so much easier when someone leaves me a lesson plan, or at the very least notes. But every now and then, I come in and... There's no plan, no notes, no textbook.
When that happens, I get the fun of starting with a level check and making up a lesson wholecloth in less than 5 minutes while simultaneously identifying student interests and level-appropriate sentence patterns/grammar they can improve. Not impossible, just a massive headache.

I had a sub for science once in high school, we were put into small groups and we all did our work respectively, the sub happened to drop and break an empty beaker (which ended up with broken glass right under my chair) the sub just ignored it an continued to teach, a very nice p.e teacher came in to check on the class and me and my friends told him about the beaker, he told the sub about it to which the sub said he would deal with it, i couldnt continue my work easily because there was glass all over the floor, once again the sub just continued teaching (it was a very quiet class with not many people, he had also finished explaining to this point and everyone was just working in the little groups so its not like he had to be in 2 places at once). the p.e teacher came in again to check on the class and noticed me picking up the glass with my bare hands to which he promptly stopped me and asked why i was doing it and so i told him that the sub wasnt doing anything about it and i needed it gone because it was in my work space and was very dangerous, the p.e teacher grabbed a dustpan and brush and cleaned it up for me then proceeded to tell the headmaster about it, whether it was pure coincidence or because of this, i never saw that sub again. It may not seem like a big issue but the sub expecting me to continue work whilst surrounded by glass is very dangerous and irresponsible and like i said it was a science lesson so it could’ve easily been filled with some sort of chemical, the fact that it was the sub who broke it also annoys me.
For the past year and a half I worked as a constant subsitute teacher. Like, my whole job was to show up on school and substitute all day (it's amazing how every single day there was always at least an absent teacher). Just want to say that the worst stories I know are from what the actual usual teachers did.
in 4th grade we would always get the same sub most of the time. When this sub was in the room all hell would break loose for the entire day. We didn't have periods back in elementary just one room all day except for lunch,PE,Music and recess. On top of that half of the students in class that year was made up of a classification of students that you may hear teachers refer to as. "problem child" basically meaning that class was hell teach on our best days. The stories I could tell from that year. One week we even had a desk throw across the room. It was a effort done by 4 students.
The funniest encounter we had when the sub was in for the day and we were all lined up to leave for the day but everyone was being loud and no one would listen to her when she tried to speak so she turned off the lights thinking the sudden change in environment would make everyone quiet down enough for her to speak. As the lights went off our classclown/half bully screamed at the top of his lungs and just fell to the floor to get attention and it worked. Everyone in line thought it was so funny that some students including myself decided to follow suit and do the exact same thing which then started a chain reaction that caused other people to fall down in line like dominos. Screams and laughing filled the room more and the sub at that point had fully lost control and just walked away screamed "I'm done, your all dismissed now get out of my hair" Which lead to a group of 30 students ranging from 10 to 11 years old all running down the hallway being as loud as we possibly and the principal walking out of the office wondering what the hell was going on. The next day we got "the speech" when the regular teacher came back.
I had that sub a few more times in the following years and she joked saying that class gave her gray hair.
I am an art teacher and a substitute sent children to my room unsupervised while I was working at another school. They got into a paint fight and took all of the red paint in the room, slinging it on the walls, ceiling, floor and each other (some of it was permanent paint).
In our class we had one teacher för all classes except english. And our main teacher was sick for the day. The substitute had us go over how to do addition and subtraction, like 10+5, we were 12 and working on multiplication and division with 3 digit numbers… In language class we had to spell letters?? Like, V were supposed to be spelled out “ve”. In gym class we were doing yoga, and were supposed to do the plow, but she didn't explain how to do it well enough, so she decided to show it on one of our classmates. He told her it hurt, but she continued to force him into the position. The next day, the entire class agreed on walking out if we still had her and we were sitting and banging on out tables and chanting our main teacher's name in protest. Luckily he had returned, and was not mad when he heard our chanting, but he asked us to handle things more quietly in the future.
12 years and I still remember that horrible substitute….
As a former sub, I loved when teachers left me packets for the kids to work on! So much better than being told to let them watch a movie, or heaven forbid play on their phones. Number one rule is to never ever leave the students unattended (I only subbed high school), and set restroom rules right away (I liked I have one pass for each restroom, one student at a time). Something really important to remember about substitutes that I think even regular teachers sometimes forget is that we weren't allowed to teach, unless we had an active teaching license (this is in Arkansas, ymmv)
i had a sub teacher that became our actuall teacher, but i still think it counts
we had this science fair, but for languages and art, she was our literature teacher, and had to plan for us an assigment for said "language fair", she didn't, didn't even looked at the ideas the previous teacher left, instead she gave us nothing and the school administrador gave us some half planned thing one week before presentation, all of the other classes got a month
she also realized everyone was failing her class (she couldn't really teach, so yeah), and decided to divide our last test into 4 assignments, which happened during our actuall science fair, along with assignments from other teacher. Some days we would have to give 4 assingments a day, 2 being for her (she also had other subjects too)

So this is one that my mother recounted to others when it came to my education history.
When I started in kindergarten, the teacher that my peers and I were supposed to have was gone for the majority of the time because her daughter had passed away in a vehicle accident and had a substitute teacher step in. My mother noted that, as much as the substitute teacher was nice, she was also a much older teacher that frankly didn't know how to handle a large class of kindergarteners, which in hindsight actually hindered my earlier education as an autistic kid. This is mainly because she let the class do whatever we want when we were supposed to be learning, so I ended up getting used to isolating myself whenever I started getting overwhelmed. So when I started first grade, the teacher I had was completely unaware of what happened and treated me like the problem child. Thankfully, my parents had none of it and they were able to explain to the school about it, hence why I wasn't kicked out and instead repeated the first grade.
Not a teacher but a student.
In my first semester of sophomore highschool, my drama teacher was out because she got sick.
We had to go to another room for this substitute. The thing is, the substitute was another teacher that taught at my highschool. I had never gone to this teachers class before.
So, before we get onto the actual story, here's a few things that are important.
The teacher had a set of rules (that I can't remember properly), but one of them was something like;
"Don't ask me to go to the bathroom, I'm gonna say No."
The teacher just wanted us to see if the pass was there, and sign out to leave.
Unfortunately, I have anxiety, General, Social and Separation anxiety. Along with my anxiety, I have ADHD, depression and Autism. I also tend to react really badly to fragrances if they're too strong, my throat tends to close up.
When she was explaining her rules, I had been distracted and doing something else.
That's everything, now for the actual story.
I have geometry before drama. During geom, this girl asked me to put on some perfume because it smelled like OD. I will say, because of depression, it was hard to take care of myself, as bad as that sounds.
I explained to her that if it's too strong, I might have a reaction. I sprayed a bit on my wrist, and it was too strong. I told her, and gave it back. I didn't exactly have a reaction at first, so I continued on with my work.
Then I could feel my throat beginning to close up, I drank water and hoped it would stop. (Unfortunately, I didn't have epi pens for my allergy because I wasn't diagnosed with it at the moment. So I normally have to wait it out and drink water.)
Unfortunately, the water wasn't helping. I was gonna ask to go to the bathroom because the lingering scent of the perfume was still on my wrist, but the bell rang.
I went to drama, thinking my teacher was going to be there so I could go to the bathroom there. My drama teacher wasn't there, a sign saying to go to room X.
So, we went to the room and decided to ask to use the bathroom there. However, again, the teachers rules completely skipped my mind because I was distracted.
So, after a bit, I got up and asked, it was how I had been raised and I felt scared with an adult not knowing where I was going. She said No.
I went back, slightly confused and stressed because my throat was getting more irritated and harder to breathe.
I managed to last until lunch, which was thankfully after that period, so I went to the nurse and explained to her what happened. The nurse said she couldn't do anything and asked if I wanted to call my guardian to pick me up. I agreed, but could hardly speak without crying.
I couldn't explain what happened to my grandpa and he asked if I was sick, so I just mumbled a yes went home. In the car, I explained what happened to my grandpa and then when I got home managed to get some Benadryl, then I took a nap.
When I returned the next day, my drama teacher wasn't there and we had to go to another classroom again. It wasn't the same teacher, thankfully and I managed to get through the day.
When my teacher did return, she asked us how the substitute was and I told her about the first substitute. I told her I had to go to the nurse because of the teacher and had to go home because of her since the nurse couldn't do anything. My drama teacher then told me that the nurse has epi pens for situations like mine and that she could've done something.
TLTR? Had an allergic reaction to perfume and was forced to go home because the teacher wouldn't allow me to go the bathroom.
Both of my Grandparents on my Dad's side were substitute teachers for _decades, to my understanding they were popular enough (both to students _and_ faculty) that they were often requested by name, and offered some... honestly mind boggling amounts of money (both bonuses and raises) when they were retiring, to try and keep them on-staff.
...Honestly a little selfishly glad my Gpa in particular didn't take them up, cause his health isn't so great...
I had a substitute teacher for math that the entire school liked her more than the math teacher himself.
She kept a few other classes but sadly not mine.
i’m a student but i have 2 subsitute teacher stories, one traumatized me for a week or so, the other was just mildly annoying
1.A sub teacher showed us a graphic video of a woman giving birth (this is obviously the traumatizing one)
2.A sub teacher tried to force my class as kindergarteners to hold hands with the opposite gender…. which you know what kindergarteners are like
I do online school. I had a sub who couldn't figure out how to screenshare the project we were working on and left all the class in confusion as she just tried to describe it. It also took her 10 minutes to figure out how to copy and paste a link. I also have had a different sub, multiple times, who always extends class because he constantly asks the students about what musical intstruments they play. He also always plays smooth jazz music on a loop while teaching
I had a sub senior year in my Agricultural research class. We were just working on anything needed to be done because the year was almost over. My sub asked if we’d be okay if she went to the bathroom and she said don’t slit your wrist and jump out of the window while I’m gone. Like what the hell was wrong with her. Me and a few other classmates were in shock. Most of my classmates weren’t in class. Its was just so out of pocket and crazy. She was super old and I don’t think she was all there to be totally honest.
I had a substitute lose one of the four year old children in my class. After assembly she took the class back to the classroom and just left this poor girl in the assembly hall. Girl got confused so started wandering around the school looking for her friends. Luckily she was found by one of the much older students who recognized her from when she did volunteer reading in my class. She brought her back saying she’d found her on their side of the school. She’d been missing for about twenty minutes & this substitute hadn’t realized. Made worse by the fact the child had addition needs & was new to English!!
Another time I had a few days off ill. Substitute just didn’t bother following my detailed plans & ready resources & instead decided to do things they’d already learnt. Children obviously got extremely bored and so started behaving poorly. She then had the nerve to leave notes complaining they were poorly behaved after boring them to death for three days! No reason to not follow my plans - just didn’t feel like it.
There are some substitute teachers out there that seem to either hate the job but do it anyway, or secretly love tormenting people that realistically can't fight back.
Sometimes I listen to these stories and thank the void all the subs I had back in school were unremarkable, and just did what our teacher left for them to give us to do. Whether it was a movie with questions to answer as we watch, a color by number, study guide, or individual study work
This is about my school Sub. We loved her. Keep in mind I went to a chatholic school however she was so kind and always told us stories of the LGBT+ all good things. She would teach classes Prep to Year 6 (That's when you go to high school) and we were allowed to draw in class if we were getting overwhelmed. She cared if we had injuries or were struggling and she'd help. She also gave us lollies if we were good. I don't eat lollies so she'd give me a sticker instead. We all loved her. We once got asked if we wanted the Sub Mrs N (Different sub. First letter of her last name) who always body shamed us. Even me who at the time was so skinny my ***ribs*** were always visible, (Note. Only just gain some meat and muscle in that area about two years ago. I haven't been to that school in 6 years and I'm in year 11 this year.) and said I needed to loose weight. Then asked if we wanted Little Miss S (We had a taller teacher with the same last name so we'd call the Sub Little Miss S and the Teacher Big Miss S.) and we all simultaneously shouted yes for our favorite sub. We got our sub. After I left the school in year 5 (Pulled out to be homeschooled) I saw Little Miss S again and she commented how I've grown (I grew about two inches so I was about 5'4 then. I'm now almost 5'8) It made me so happy she remembered me.
Back in 7th grade, we had the worst sub for maths. He made half of the class cry because they didn't have time to do the assignment (they were in the school production). He argued with my friends work and said it was wrong. The teacher's aid said it was right and the next day he showed our normal teacher, and It was right.
had an old woman teacher who would nitpick and critique all the time, when the boys (I'm a guy) were done with gym she would go in and watch us in the locker room, while we showered.
this 60+ year old had no shame and no chill, she would fake-close her eyes and tell us school related shit that could wait, it was extremely uncomfortable
Oh! I just remembered an unfortunate 'student teacher' (as in, teacher-in-training), so it doesn't qualify for substitute teacher, but daaaamn, he had such trouble.
He was a teacher-in-training for our 10th grade Japanese class -- a very small class mind you, we only had about 6 people, because of how few students took Japanese in our year.
Our regular Japanese teacher would be sitting in the back, and give reigns to him and kinda... not exactly grade him, but just assess how he handles things and how he teaches things.
So sometimes he would try teach us something and we'd hear our regular teacher say "No, disregard what he just said. That's incorrect." And whenever that happened, his embarrassment was palpable. You could just see him shrinking smaller and smaller each time it happened.
And sometimes he would use phrases incorrectly. If we were doing conversational practice in pairs, and we were a bit too loud, he told us "聞いて" or "kiite" which means "listen," so we stopped our conversation exercises, turn our chairs facing forward again, but he had nothing to say to us. What he wanted to say was to quieten down, not to listen to him, but he wasn't aware of the meaning of what he said, even though us 10th grade students taking Japanese knew. It was such a simple word, too! The year below us, the 9th graders loved to torment him, we heard. When he had his back turned to write on the whiteboard, they would take turns making honking sounds with their mouths, and when he turned around, he couldn't pinpoint who it was, because they each took turns. The usual teacher did not put a stop to the 9th graders' shenanigans, because disciplining a class was part of what his role was. Although it was a liiiittle unprofessional of our teacher to tell us these stories behind his back, I think she really needed to vent her frustrations to us too. I think we were her favorite class, considering she trusted us enough with these stories. Those were a strange few weeks. 😂
Slightly different, I had a student teacher who was doing his practice teaching before getting his certificate. I taught 4th grade inner city with 40 students - 28 boys and 12 girls (since I was the male teacher, I got the "problem students"). However, things were fine and I was also the PE teacher with 200 3rd and 4th grade students. However, this intern really wanted jr. high science but they put him with me "to learn how to handle students". Things were "OK" but it was obvious that his heart wasn't in it. Comes the day when he is going to be observed by the supervising teacher without my being in the room. His lesson? How volcanos work with a model volcano he'd made. I stressed to the students how important it was for them to be on their best behavior. Supervisor shows up, he sets up in front of class, I step out of the room, and had taken no more than two steps when the door to my classroom started vibrating. I turned around, threw open the door, and saw everyone in their seat but with dust swirling around and papers slowly settling to the floor...the student teacher's face was bright red. He quietly picked up his volcano and left. The supervisor waited to have lunch with me to explain what happened. The student teacher had called up the first group while the others did worksheets on volcanos he'd prepared. However, when the volcano "erupted", half of the remainder of the class rushed to volcano while the other half scattered in the classroom. Realizing that I would be coming back immediately, everyone was rushing to get back into their seats from various parts of the classroom. The supervisor said it was like watching water slosh around in a tub. Needless to say, he didn't go into teaching.
Was a student, and wasn’t in the class, but something quite peculiar happened in middle school for me. There was a substitute teacher in a chemistry class and they said their name was Mr. Fister. He then groped multiple students. Unsurprisingly he got arrested.
Our subs get definitely very mistreated. But one of our subs tried to take this girls phone who had it to check her blood sugar and the girl had to try and convince this sub for like 10 minutes that she was allowed to have it out
I have a 1.5 inch (4cm) scar just below my right eye from a substitute teacher in second grade. She hit me in the face with a metal ruler for getting up to go to the back of the room to get my Asthma inhaler from my jacket as I had left it in Mt pocket after rescess. I ended up with 26 stitches some buried as the cut was 1/2 inch deep and you could see the bone underneath. The school only disciplined her after my mother threatened to come to the school and unalive her if she was ever caught teaching my class again and my parents put the incident on the 6 o'clock TV news. By the end of it the teacher lost her teaching certification 6 months before retirement and the school had to pay for over $20,000 in medical bills. This was the first time in state history that a teacher had lost her teachers liscence and the school had to pay for medical attention for a student injured by a teacher. This happened in 1976. Part of the reason the medical bills were so high is that reconstructive surgery was new back then and the nearest qualified surgeon was 150 miles away from our town. Each visit to the specialist involved a 4 hour drive each way with an overnight hotel stay.

I was one of the students in this story. This was about a year and a half or two years back now, so I'm fuzzy on the details. We had a sub for a week or two, and this was the last day or so. I sat quite close to the teacher's desk (I always do, it keeps me away from the loud troublemakers and such and lets me ask questions easier), so somehow me and a student next to me got to talking to the sub. This was a graphic design class. This sub tried to convince us that white ppl (the Irish?) were more effected by sl@v3ry than black ppl in America, and when we found evidence to the contrary, he told us that google is biased and covering up the truth. I am so glad I didn't have to spend more time around him. talking about that topic wasn't even on track with what we were doing in class, I don't know why it was brought up
Once In my art class my math teacher had to sub us but apparently she forgot because for the first 40 MINUTES of class we didn’t have a teacher, thankfully it was a pretty small class and all we did was play Pictionary, but with a different class this would be very VERY bad…
( Im a student): In science class, there was a sub who was black ( Needed to say that for the story.) A couple boys in my class were slacking off as they usually did and playing games on the chrombook. The sub caught them but instead of just taking their chrombooks, he shoved their table which made both boys fall off their chairs before calling the moroccan boy a colonizer and calling the sommalian one a pirate. Never saw that sub again.

Long ago, 2017 perhaps, (I think I was 13), I was bitten by two dogs as I was biking. Shouldn't have done that, my neighbor is sketchy... Nonetheless, lesson learned. The owners learned as well, stupid horrible owners. Idk if anything legal happened or not. They have a fence now tho.
Long story short, came out of the shower, very itchy after taking my medicine, and they were watching Harry Potter. Yeeeaaahh, I never got to sit down and watch the rest of it, I was taken to the doctors for the fourth time that week, and they determined I'm allergic to penicillin. Never knew! I had GIANT red bumps, that looked like mosquito bites, but like 6x larger. So big in fact, it took up one full kneecap! Needless to say, I'm ok now. 19, and gonna stay the hell away from blue cheese. (Tastes bad imo/contains penicillin)
All the students in my school loved subs they were the best.
I'm not a teacher but a student. I wasn't there but i heard this from my classmates the next day. We had a sub at the end of the day last year. I went to go put my stuff away and left (bc i was good). But some kids were bad (obv). SHE WOULDNT LET MY CLASS LEAVE!!! and i heard even for the bus kids. tbh i felt bad but kinda good that i wasnt there.
Back in highschool I had to take this space science class that only went for half the year I believe and the teacher was very pregnant so she was only there for a couple weeks I think, but she had all sorts of fun projects prepared for us (one was even gonna involve play doh I think), but when the long term sub came in he had completely ignored all her plans (for all of her classes she was teaching that semester) and just went through her PowerPoints mad gave out the occasional packet. When the original teacher got back there was like one week left of the class and the sub hadn’t graded anything, lost half her students papers, so she had to reteach us a few things and have us do some quick worksheets so that we would have a grade (as well as grading whatever work of ours the sub hadn’t lost). I still vividly remember her sounding so defeated and upset when she was explaining this to all of us and actually apologizing to us because we missed out on all the fun stuff she had planned. Worst part is that sub still subbed after that, I had him for a math class when that teacher was out for the day. (Also sorry for any bad grammar or general Un clearness I started getting a migraine about halfway through righting this)
In high school, my brother's wood shop class had a substitute one day. The guy was like 80 and walked with a cane and mumbled when he talked. He literally fell asleep on the table saw.
The story about the diabetic kid. That device wasn't a phone, it was probably a glucose monitor.
Most glucose monitors these days are custom Android phones which connect to your sensors via Bluetooth. They may or may not have WiFi, but they only have the monitoring apps, no other apps can be installed, and can't make calls
i have two horrible sub stories. not a teacher, but these are my experiences as a student.
one from 7th grade social studies class, my fifth period. this was right after lunch, and the class i was bullied the worst in. 7th grade was hell for me overall, but 5th period social studies was the worst of it as this was the class i shared with all of my bullies. all 7 of them. my usual teacher knew of this, and knew of what these kids would do to me, but couldn't do anything about it as the higher ups of the school (principal, vice principal, etc) would do nothing about it, even if it was reported. when i finished my assignments, and made sure there was nothing else i needed to be in the room for, he would let me escape to the bathroom for the remainder of the period to try and save me from as much of the relentless verbal and sometimes even physical abuse my classmates would put me through. we had a sub one day when he was out sick. she said we could not go use the bathroom unless we finished our assignments. great. i'll just finish my assignments and then she'll let me go to the bathroom. NOPE. finished all the assignments, and i even actually did need to use the restroom, and she rejected. saying "you won't be using the restroom this period. you will hold it until your eyeballs turn yellow if i have anything to do with it". i did not get to use the restroom until school ended. two more classes, and two and half hours later. the classes were science (we had labs and therefore weren't allowed to leave the room understandably) and p.e (barely had enough time to change before we were considered late) and both classes were across campus from the previous period, meaning i did not have time to get to my locker, go to the restroom, and get to class in the 5 minute passing period. and i was made fun of even more for this situation by those classmates, because i "got in trouble" with the sub. as expected, the school did nothing about it.
my second story is in my freshman year of high school. this is a different school, that was in a million ways better than where i went to middle school. we had third period health class. our teacher would regularly have meetings he would have to go to during our period, so we would have subs just for our period. most of the subs were great. some of them even came back multiple times and our entire class loved them. there was one sub though, that everyone hated. she subbed for three of this teachers periods that day. the period before mine, the period i was in, and the period after. she was a witch to everyone. at our school, we used chromebooks for our schoolwork. she would not let anyone use them, even though our assignments for the day were on our laptops, and it even said so in the lesson plan. she pulled out a worksheet that wasn't even on the topic of our class, not even health related and had us work on them. if we finished it too fast she would have us redo them. and once we finished it, we just sat there in silence as we weren't allowed to do anything. not even read a book or do homework for other classes. if we had any questions about it, or tried to do the work on our laptops like we were supposed to, she would yell at us and confiscate our laptops. she ended up having about half the class's laptops by the end of the period. it didn't stop there though. without any reason to, she would make fun of students. one person in the class had a shaved head because her parents forced her to shave her hair as a punishment for failing a singular test, and the sub made fun of her for having a shaved head. the poor girl cried for pretty much the remainder of the period. she sent a kid out of the class, the kid that had just gotten back from suspension, for being "disruptive" when he did absolutely nothing, he was just standing up to her when she yelled at him and others, and trying his best to get it so the rest of us could do our actual assigned work. he got pulled out of class by security, but didn't get in trouble for it, and was actually one of the main players in getting her taken off the list for subs at the school. which happened after stories combined from the three periods she subbed in reached our teacher and the principal. i heard the she even had a police report filed against her as she'd physically assaulted a student in fourth period.
I had a sub set an actual desk on fire so he could demonstrate how fire blankets worked. He was fired shortly after
I’m the student. One day my teacher had to get a sub. This was October 30th, 2023. The sub we got was definitely NOT sober. She picked favorites which was two of us. Im disgusted because i was one of the favorites and got given ANSWERS to a test we had that day. She called my desk neighbor and best friend “bad at math” TO HER FACE and she went running out of the classroom CRYING. The sub sent people to the principal’s for asking to USE THE RESTROOM. Teacher returns at lunch time because she returned early and I saw kids literally HUG the teacher. Turns out, the sub was on a list of people who were NOT what-so-EVER allowed to sub. It was the craziest day.
My Substitute wouldn't let me and my classmates go to the bathroom, drink water, or even ask a singular question. I had a sore throat that day and I told her all about the sore throat that I was having, The details (Just how it felt nothing else) And something else that I forgot. She had the audacity to just say..' Can you wait.' Like what the hell. Then my other friend also needed to go drink water from having a even worse throat and being on her butterfly week and having cramps. She was a Female teacher I don't know why she had the audacity to say no. Then I started talking to my friend just for 1⁄2 about how my stomach started hurting from how badly I needed to drink water. Then she forgot and to send me *just me* To a different class. So guess what, I didn't talk for the rest of the day but I swear if I have that substitute again I'm going to be yapping my mouth off. I have 3 grade teacher next to my class which meant if I was sent To another class I would be sent there. She was really nice and actually understood what we were going through. So I don't think she would mind if I went in there. *also she hooked up with another teacher*
Did I mention she's 64 years old And that teacher is 38?
All students deserve teachers, but not all teachers deserve students
Once had a substitute that basically looked at my teacher's lesson plan and was like "Nah". IF I'm remembering correctly, he wrote a sticky note to my teacher telling her he would be ignoring her entire lesson plan for the day.
For the first part of the day, we just did introductions and he made us watch these dumb "funny" animal videos. Like those videos where the size of animals were like tripled to make it look like they were bloated.
I don't exactly remember this part, but multiple of my friends talk about this one part during the day, where one of my other friends had gotten in trouble and yelled at for DOING THE WORK WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING.
We also had some sort of trivia things, where, if you got multiple questions correctly, you could win a prize. Note, the prizes were awful prizes for kids. One of my friends got a BALL BEARING. (for a bicycle or something)
And I absolutely hated that guy, as the assignment we were supposed to work on that day was very time consuming - I remember it was about a book we were reading and we had to draw, colour, and write stuff about the book.
After I got home that day I immediately told my mom about the substitute and she phoned the school about it :
1. Turns out one of my friends / classmates had also phoned in about the substitute before my mom,
2. My mom is and has been a literal staff member of the school for years.
I don't remember exactly what my teacher said during the next class, but she was definitely angry.
Needless to say, they told us that the guy wasn't coming back to our school.
In high school, I was an overachiever, as were many others in my circle. I think it was senior year, and of course, everyone is trying hard to get good grades to get into their universities of choice. One day we have a test that counts towards a small, but still significant percentage to our final grade, and there's a sub that's basically supervising us as we're taking our test. About 15 minutes before the period ends, and hence our test/exam time ends, she says okay, time's up! So everyone is looking confused, because of course it's not the end of period. We're still trying to finish our tests. So she tries to end the test early, because she freaking wants to go pick up her kids at another school. She really tried to sabotage our whole class and potentially our future, because she couldn't find anyone to pick her kids up. We weren't having it. We continued our tests as the time on the front of the paper indicated and just ignored this woman. Mrs. Bendotti, if you're reading this, you're a selfish ass.
So moral of the story: It is pretty important that a teacher is actually educated themselves.
So I (student) had a sub once for English Language Arts class, and the sub spoke Spanish the whole time (I knew she was fluent in English because I had her before as a sub for a different class). I was lucky I was taking Spanish at the time, some of my classmates didn't understand a word she was saying.
Bruh there was these 2 subs that were twins and EVERYONE loved them one even showed us how a bear trap worked.
in my last year of middle school, on one of the last days of that school year, my art teacher was out. it was the last class of the day and substitute had apparently left the school after lunch break. so, it was class full of rowdy eighth graders ready to begin summer. we were 13 and 14. our art class was also connected to an outdoor patio. we spent a good 20 minutes keeping the lights off, playing music, running around inside and outside and cracking jokes. the art class was the only classroom that you had to enter one other classroom to get to, and infact they changed the art rooms layout the year after. the class connected to the art class was spanish, so about halfway through some kids went and told the spanish teacher what the deal was. the spanish teacher was a really chill dude, so he just let us sit in his classroom and watch videos. pretty sure that sub never came back.
The health monitor story reminds me of a similar near-incident, but it only amounted to a gym teacher telling a kid to put his "calculator" away (it was his insulin or monitor or whatever). Luckily the teacher didn't actually confiscate it.
Public school in Brazzil, so the teacher situation in pretty burocratic. A teacher retired. Cool, the process takes months, so we had a sub for the rest of the year ready before we could find a new permanent teacher, right? Well. I remember this one sub I had. Let’s call her Ms. Morton (not real name). So, I’m in class and we start reading, and normally the teacher would pick a random student to read a paragraph. But Ms. Morton decided to do it by table. Now, i have ADHD and zone out a lot in class and have mental breakdowns when some things get out of hand, especially with math or being in trouble. (I had to homeschool for a year due to it) And I zoned out when Ms. Morton explained how we would read. I raised my hand to ask if I could read the next paragraph, but then Ms. Morton just BASHES me. I start to look down and sob. (I dont remember this too vividly but i think she maybe got mad at me for crying as well) Later, At Dismissal, The floor is kinda dirty, little scraps of paper, maybe 1 or 2 glue caps, that’s about it. And as we’re about to leave, Ms. Morton SCREAMS at us, Just attacking us with insults. For scraps of paper and a glue cap. She DEMANDS we can’t even leave until the floor is completely clean. She said crap two or three times, and it was a HUGE deal cause this was pretty long ago. We told the teacher and we never got the sub again. In fact, some of us were SCARED of Ms. Morton. One time I talk about it during lunch with a friend, and as we leave lunch the VICE PRINCIPAL asks us about Ms. Morton. We tell him what happened and from now on, Ms. Morton was EXTREMELY nice. I got her for GT (Gifted and Talented) once and i could see that she was trying to not attack us whenever we messed up.
Had a substitute that yelled at us that she wasn’t here to teach, she was here to make money
As a teacher: reorganised my classroom. I have ADHD and may be on the spectrum. I know they were trying to be nice and helpful, and it made my room easier to navigate, but it really upset me. Now I’m a casual/substitute teacher. No matter how messy a teacher’s desk/classroom is, I don’t move anything around. It’s their space, it’s their system, it’s not my business
im not a teacher, but this reminded me of the time i was in 4th grade and we had a substitute teacher who was a male and looked like he was in his mid 20s, he was an english substitute teacher,he asked each student to answer a question, he said ''who ever answers the question right, gets a rock candy'' i answered it right and he gave me the tiniest, blue chocolate rock-
The worst sub stories i have are mostly them, just not understanding simple plans and giving us free time. There was one lady that tried to act tough, though. She mentioned she was from texas so much and that she "knew how to deal with us"
I was expecting Story 2 to just be a situation where the kids exaggerated a situation just to be funny, but DAMN I was not expecting that twist at the end!
We had a smartboard, and the sub was using a marker on it. We told her to stop and that it wasn't a marker board, but she continued to snap back and say "I know what I'm doing!". That marker ended up staining the smartboard no matter how much it was cleaned. She was old, but it doesn't excuse incompetence.
The principal who abandoned his wife while she was having surgery for CANCER is a shitty husband.
