I have a Walther PPQ M1 and just picked up a PPS M2. Walther makes some of the best handguns on the market and they are very reasonable in price. Tack drivers with great triggers that will eat any ammo.
I own a PPQ classic and a PPS M2. When I made my first purchase I had no experience but tried out the shield and the Glock 19. In hindsight so glad I went the Walther route. Incredible ergo, amazing trigger and great reliability. I’ve used both for EDC and don’t think I’ll be changing any time soon!
I’m surprised at how excellent the PPS M2 is. I’ve shot glocks and berettas. I went out for a M&P Shield and came home with the PPS M2. Better rack, trigger, and mag operating. Hugely satisfied.
Agreed. While being able to carry an extra round is a difference maker to plenty of people who purchase a Shield, I just shoot the Walther much better and it's less snappy to me. The ergonomics of the PPS M2 is great as well. Triggers on carry guns are never the best, but I love the one on the PPS M2. There isn't that much uptake, the break is good, and the reset is one of the best for such a tiny carry gun. Probably my 2nd favorite carry trigger after the Sig P365, but you can almost buy 2 PPS for the price of a P365. While I don't carry a PPS (I prefer a larger gun or a larger revolver like the Model 64), my wife was actually deciding between a Shield 2.0, Glock 43, Beretta APX Carry, and Walther PPS M2. After the day at the range, she preferred the PPS M2 as well.
same experience about 6-7 months ago! felt the best, easy to rack (calling you out Smith shield) and reasonable. Love my PPS M2 LE, my EDC. Best $325 gun I've spent.
When I went shopping for my 9 I looked at several different models and dry fired each one. I picked my S&W MP Shield 9 because it felt the most comfortable in my hand when I held it. The trigger break was easy to find and required less pressure to squeeze the trigger past the break then the others.
Out of these 4, I'd go for the PPS M2 all day, every day. I have been extremely impressed by recent Walther pistols, namely my PPS M2 and my PPQ M2. Tight groups, absolute reliability, impeccable quality, better ergonomics than anything else, and have to be the two best factory triggers available today.
@@czwarlord9243 if you think you need a godly trigger and large ammo capacity for defending yourself then you need to do more research. The PPS is a decent trigger and if you carry jacketed hollows and train at the range you shoudnt need more than 6-7 rounds.
Being new to concealed carry I went cheap and bought a Ruger EC9S. Love the gun. Very reliable. 1000+ rounds and zero misfires, jamming or anything else. But the sights suck. So I wanted to upgrade to a P365 or Glock 43. Can never find a P365 at my store so I went with a Glock. I really liked the reputation, the better sights, the slightly longer barrel and the durability. I've seen comments that you could throw it in the mud and come back a week later and it would still function flawlessly. And I just found a way to waste $500. Using the exact same ammo on each, the Glock 43 has now jammed twice just upon racking the slide to load. I thought maybe it was my fault when reassembling after cleaning. Maybe I didn't position the guide rod correctly. But its a Glock. Supposed to be idiot proof. And I had reassembled the Ruger multiple, multiple times with no issues. Luckily, the issue I've had with the Glock lets you know it as soon as you rack the slide. The slide will stop about 2-3 millimeters short of flush so you know you need to correct it before you carry. But what if I need to switch out mags in a life or death situation? Do I have time for that? To have a gun with a little bit better accuracy yet one less capacity? The EC9S is not without its downsides. The mags don't always go in easily. But when they do, they function perfectly. Maybe its a durability issue. Maybe at 2,000 rounds my Glock will keep on ticking while my EC9S will just fall apart in my hands. But I consider that irrelevant. I need it to load and fire. The cheap $230 gun has done just that. The $500 one hasn't.
I just purchased the ec9s today and after handling the glock I think I made the right choice... the trigger on the 43 was horrible compared to the ec9s plus I was looking for something more pocket friendly or for my fishing backpack. I like how everything is rounded off and less bulky. Not sure if its small enough for a boot gun but Ill find out once my paperwork is processed. I plan on indexing the sights with some nail polish til I find the spot to drill and add glow paint. For a ccw I think the ec9s wins... the $248 price for what youre getting cant be beat also.
George Powell the problem your having with the Glock isn’t the pistol it’s you riding the slide when you put it into battery you need to pull it back and release it completely and aggressively . A drop of gun oil may help the round chamber a lil smoother until you get it broke in all the way
Great review, That trigger on the lc9s Pro cannot be understated (it is sweet) also having the 7+1 over the 6+1 of the others is a positive. (Ruger also offers the 9+1) having 10 rounds of 9mm in a firearm that light and concealable sold me. I don't think you can go wrong with any of these 4.
I've got the Shield and Glock 43 as carry options and love them both. The Glock conceals a little better but I prefer the overall functionality of the Shield. The Glock is a little awkward when attempting rapid magazine change outs. Great video though! Appreciate the time put into your show.
Great presentation. I would like to have seen rapid fire point shooting at 20ft. I have the LC9 and it is the most natural point shooting handgun I have ever fired. I had a problem with magazines dropping randomly and Ruger sent me a new mag release button and while I was in there I took out the no magazine disconnect. Ruger's customer service is awesome. You have a new subscriber!
I have a shield, an LC9s and an LC9... Had to agree with you comments on them.. LC9s/LC9 sights do not pick up quickly and I do not shoot it well, in spite of the excellent trigger on the LC9s. The shield, as you said, feels more substantial The Trigger is not as good as the LC9s but the great sight picture... 3 large dots, pick up really quick and I shoot it better than any other single stack 9
It took a while to get used to shooting the G43. But now I can shoot it strong hand, weak hand or two hand and put rounds where I want them. For daily use, most comfortable to carry was important to me. I sometimes forget I am carrying my G43 in an Alien Gear IWB holster. Doesn't require a "gun belt" to carry either. I agree - they could have made it a 7 round mag and it would have been better. But I love mine.
Mike Simonsen Taran Tactical makes some good quality magazine extensions and it comes with a new properly calculated spring for the extra rounds, up to +3
The G43 was one of those guns I was naturally good at shooting holding about 3 inch groups at 10 yards with it. The Shield, I could never git gud with even aftera couple hundred rounds. You can get one of those Z springs if you don't want to add anymore length to it. I use a Pearce +1 with a Vickers +2 as a backup.
Like you said , all of them are really good , right now I'm carrying the LC9s without safety with a Ruger 9 round factory mag , I love how it's a natural extension of the gun itself and doesn't look like a 6 or 7 round mag with an extension , it's awesome and the trigger is like a 200 dollar add on trigger , it's so good .
XxVeNoMxX I agree PPS is the best of the bunch, I like the old euro mag release though. The Glock isn't acceptable for me plastic sights, extensions that add no additional rounds and bad grip angle. Shields not bad but trigger kinda sucks.
Carried the PPS M1 for about four years. Now, I have an M2 in my CCW holster. But, while I really do like the M2 (it's utterly reliable and carryable), I can't say I'm not disappointed with the changes Walther made between the designs-- not the least of which are: A) the M1 & M2 mags arent interchangeable between them B) The paddle release is gone in favor of an 'American style' button... Not a dealbreaker, but the paddle was one reason I bought the origional, in the first place... C) While the ergos are more rounded & comfortable-- in my experience, they don't fit my hand as well, and don't allow the M2 to hide as well as the flatter M1 Bottom line: I'm still a Walther fan, but not against trying a Shield, tbh... Might as well save some money if I'm gonna be forced into a design with push-button mag release, and more rounded ergos... fwiw
36:55 he talks about snappy shooter. I replaced a Keltec PF9 with the Ruger LC9s. The LC9s feels like shooting a 380 compared to that. I love the LC9s and the trigger is like butter.
I am not an expert but I own the shield, the Lc9s and the 43. The Ruger has, by far, the best trigger. With that being said I personally shoot the 43 significantly more accurate than the other two and that is what I carry now. The shield trigger is gritty, mushy, and with a horrible reset compared to the other two!
chris stel yes the new version has great trigger, but.. if you shoot the m2 you might be torn. ThAt being said I am not a trigger snob,I can get used to most triggers.
Just a heads up. resting your finger on the rod on the trigger pull gauge may throw your readings off. Otherwise great comparison my brother is in the market for a single stack 9mm. Wish the XDs had made it in the mix I love mine but still 4 of the top models in one video you did well. Thanks.
Thanks for putting together the comparison. I had 2 glock 43s because I really liked them. Sold one and picked up a Walther pps m2. So glad I did, felt better in my hand than the Sig 365 so took a chance. This thing shoots sweet.
My only issue is finding hollowpoints that feed reliably. I ran a box of critical defense, federal HST and sig v crowns today, it only lasted through the v crowns. I will have to run a couple more boxes before I trust it to run on them reliably. But the gun is a sweet shooter. My 3rd Walther, about to get a 4th.....possibly 5th 🤔
Ruger Lc9. Mine carries inside the waistband with a nice HolsterPro Holster. Accurate as hell. Nice gun with Federal Defense Ammo. All you will ever need.
@@rickmanley767 I Agree!!! For the sights I'm considering getting some of that Glow in the dark paint (the good stuff) instead of the aftermarket Tru Glo or Trijicon or XS ... If I mess up the paint job the replacements are only $12.00 total from Ruger and if I'm still not happy I can buy some night sights or williams fire sights!!! GREAT PISTOL!!!
@@ResplendentRaider the Walther PPS is very reliable but so is the Shield. To me I shoot better with the Walther PPS and it feels like a much larger gun than it actually is. It's slightly heavier, has a better trigger undercut, longer beaver tail, much better trigger compared to the original Shield (pretty close compared to the 2.0), better ergonomics, and is slightly larger which makes it a suffer shooting gun to me (even with a larger slide). The Shield generally comes with an extra round with their higher capacity mags but still comes in roughly the same size as the PPS. There is much more aftermarket support for the Shield because it's more popular and was much cheaper until recently with all the promos Smith & Wesson used to run (closer to the same price now with the pandemic). I would personally go with the Walther PPS if you are going to keep the gun in stocks form. If you plan on making modifications to your gun, switch out different holsters often, and care more about a higher capacity, then go with the Shield. The Shield also has many variants available if you are looking for specific features like a thumb or grip safety. The used market also has many more deals for the original Shield and quite a few for the 2.0.
@@JacksonWalter735 i chose the Walther and i couldnt be more happier. They had only one in FDE. It carries like a dream! Super light and slim profile. I had no problem carrying it this past spring and summer. The only knock (if you want to call it one) is the capacity.
The LC9S is my favorite of the four. Great trigger, very accurate and very thin and concealable. When I'm not carrying my Glock 26 the LC9S is my go to ccw.
You started to mention the round counts, but then forgot… The LC9S does have 7 round mags standard and available 9 round mags (single stack of course). It is pretty much ideal to conceal, although the ‘snappiness’ is a reality, and a lot of people opt for adding hogue or Talon grips, etc. to improve the handling. The new version (in 2021 A.D.) is the Ruger EC9S. It is a budget handgun with integral sites that cannot be moved or replaced, but has all the other features of the LC9S. I had the original LC9 (hammer fired, that was a love-hate relationship) then bought & sold the LC9S, then bought it again. It’s a great little machine.
held Glock 43 and Shield 9mm and Walther pps m2 LE. the Walther ppsm2 9mm LE stood out craftsmanship quality of Walther. sold my shield 9mm today and purchased the Walther pps m2 9mm LE. love it the wife will do. plus I own Walther Creed Walther ppq m2 45 now Walther pps m2 9mm LE. Walther
Pps m2 all day, it's a fighter. Great ergos, smooth trigger with a nice reset, tennifer coating, steel 3 dot sights, 6,7,8 round availability depending on your situation. So far I have nothing bad to say about it, just wish the aftermarket support was there a little more. GLOCK always steals the spotlight. Love that this gun is 450.00 as well unlike many manufacturers charging 500+ for a single stack9
The 1st day after buying my PPS I regretted it. I love Walthers, but at 21oz that PPS is just too heavy for my taste. So now I carry a Glock 42 .380 and at 13oz I've found my dream EDC gun. It's so small I named it "Groot" lol!
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 Now THAT is a very true statement! In fact, my PPS is my wife's favorite gun. She loves that little guy to the point where I'm a bit jealous - lol.
Just a comment about CCW. One of the first things taught to us in our class is how people usually go and buy a gun to big to carry and they find out they never carry except on occasion. The primary factor in CCW is size and weight (reliability). You have to select a gun that you can carry when you leave the house without strapping a big holster on etc. Any gun is better than no gun so buy a gun you can carry ALL THE TIME. Buy the lightest most reliable pocket gun you can afford. Most people are going with the Ruger LC9S from what I hear at the gun stores.
mceachj1 see that's wired because since I started carrying and when I was doing dod security forces it was engrained into our heads to carry the largest most shootable handgun you can carry. you should know that you are carrying a gun because people who don't realize or forget they have one doesn't lend it's self to weapon retention (falls out of your pocket while going to the bathroom, drops out of your ankle holster ECT.) now all these single stack 9mm's are really a BUG sized gun anyways in my opinion and that's what I'm in the market for. it's just interesting all the different schools of thought. like I carry a sig p229 legion 9mm with Mecgar 17 round mags with an Inforce APL in the appendix position in a t rex arms sidecar. I would love to find a firearm for ankle carry with a standard da/SA but I am unable to find something small enough to go on the ankle so these are the options I've been looking at. but all that aside I'm glad you have taken your CCW class and choose to carry. again please don't take this as a personal attack or you were taught incorrectly or anything just different views
Rhys Brink interesting listening to how you both come at the subject though. You were carrying for "work" yeah? But as edc super small that doesn't get left behind makes alot of sense. Anyway, cheers. Thanks for the good reads
THANK YOU for reminding me. I will go ahead and get a .380 (P238 or G42) then I'll get the PPS or XDC. The PPS is unobtrusive in my cargo khakis (long as I am standing up :-). But if it's too much to carry that day I'll grab the .380.
I love my 9 and .40 Shields, but I just ordered the PPS M2 LE to take advantage of the $100 rebate. I shot the PPS at a range demo this summer and found the grip ergonomics and the accuracy to be better than any pistol I have shot. I am keeping my Shields, but may carry the PPS more.
Great video and totally agree with you Walther PPS M2. For the ones that chose the shield try to grab it fast and pull the trigger with the upper side of it, you’ll see it’ll get stuck and won’t shoot
I've owned them all Glock 43 - Great gun. Suffers a little in capacity but overall the best made out of this group Shield - Best pistol for the money. Trigger isn't great but practice will remedy any issue with that LC9S - Best trigger of the 4 PPS M2 - I had a lot of issues with fails to eject and feed. After 500 rounds it wasn't clearing up at all..and yes I cleaned and lubed it before the first range trip and after each of the following trips. It's not a lubrication issue (that's what she said)...I finally sold it to someone who was willing to take the time and figure out the issues or send back to walther. I haven't talked to him since to find out if it was resolved (and I'm sure it was. Walther is a company that seems to stand behind their product) I'm not trying to claim any of the 4 are better than the other..I'm just relaying my experience and opinion. If I had to buy one and only one, and money was not an issue, I'd choose the glock. If considering bang for the buck, Shield is the clear winner imo.
Wow, what a well done review. It is thorough, covers everything important, speaks directly to felt recoil and feel. I have watched a ton but this one answered all my questions, and made up my mind, that I am getting the PPS. I just needed somebody to very clearly address the recoil. Also, the footage of recoil is invaluable, and extremely well done, especially the slo mo and showing the guns over and over, just what we need. Superb, exemplary job. Other reviewers should emulate this video. Thanks much, you solved my dilemma. Mrs. Hegshot shoots just as good as you, great grip, unusual.
Hey. Thanks so much for this video. I've had my CCW for about six months and have been carrying my S&W 9mm revolver in my CCW purse, but don't feel comfortable carrying it on body because it's so bulky and heavy. As an alternative, I'm looking at either the LC9S or the Glock 43. I shot both of them today at the range but still wanted further clarification on the detailed pros and cons of each firearm. This video was really helpful. I'm new to comparing firearms and am honestly not sure what to look for. After watching this video i'm going to take another trip to the store and hold them both a bit more and look at some of the details. A few of your other videos look informative as well. I'll be checking them out!
Personal update to this old video... Old video but would like to add something I just learned as I just purchased one of these. First I want to say I went to the store w my mind pretty set already. I left with my third choice for two massively important reasons. I got a sales flyer for the pps m2 LE (3 mag version) for $369.99. Same flyer had the shield 2.0 for the same price and the lc9s pro for 269.99. I already have a PPQ and love it. Imop it’s the single best pistol in its class. I went with my mind pretty sent on the pps as after many many videos everyone pretty much has the m2 and 2.0 being equal and for same price as I was opting for the extra mag and night sights. Second option was a g26 as I’ve never really been fond of single stacks and I mostly edc a g19 so mag compatibility would be nice. Especially since I always carry a backup anyways and a g19 +g26 makes a nice combo. I used to carry this way and like a fool traded my gen 3 model. I left with the shield 2.0. Main two reasons neither of which is properly emphasized by anyone. With a FLUSH mag people w small to medium hands can achieve a full grip. THIS BLEW MY MIND! Second the 2.0 stipple is way understated.. I love the PPQ. Grip feels perfect. Not too aggressive not too slick. The pps is no where even close. Felt like I was holding a smooth piece of plastic in hand. On the shorter grip of the pps none of the stipple is actually in a place you need it for it to work. I can’t over state just how slick it feels in hand. The trigger is also the nicest of the three I mentioned. The grip although slim is the best of the three. Grip was not as much a concern vs the g26 as I stipple my own glocks. Single stacks dont really have enough material to re stipple wo sacrificing integrity. But the full grip with a flush mag and good texture put it way above for me. As I see it most who will watch this video are likely considering the pps or the shield or both. The shield is by far the better pistol and that’s very hard for me to say as a very proud PPQ owner. Better grip, better trigger, and carries an extra round. Which is another major piss me off issue with all the other contenders.. why does everyone else from sig938 to the g43 all do true single stack instead of the M&P staggered magazine which allows for one additional round in same size grip! The grips are the same length and width but Smith manages to squeeze in one more round then what is standard. The one additional point I’d like to clarify.. as for smaller women.. the slide on ALL of these is VERY VERY stiff. Walther always have very stiff mags and slides.. but the glock and especially the Smith are not going to be easy for many people even some men. The last round in the 8 round mags of both the pps and shield are almost impossible to load by hand and this coming from a very experimental shooter who works with their hands daily so I have a little more hand dexterity and Strength then the average person. The best compatible female option not even in this video I’ve found is the Sig P938. It was also my wife’s choice when I sent her by herself to the store to buy her first carry gun on her own with a list of 10 guns and a check list of what to check for. She has what I would consider on the weaker side of hands even for a women and has no issues with her 938. I will say it is the hardest to shoot though and can ver very snappy with full power defensive ammo compared to others.
I had my LC9s slide black Cerakoted to resist rust from my sweat. I got a 9 round extended mag and a Crimson trace laser sight. NOW my LC9s is a great carry gun.
I have to go with the G43. I have one with Pearce +1 base plates and Tru-Glo tfx night sights. Really nice carry gun. I would like to try the Walther however and I like that the Smith is made in the USA. Great job on the video. It was really informative and fun to watch. Keep um coming man.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but the Shield's mag sticking out that small amount is by design. It's there so you can rip the mag out, if there is a double-feed.
I owned 3 of these. Last gun standing is the PPS M2. Best shooter, 100% reliable, priced right, less recoil, built tough. Sold off my other 2 single stack 9s. All guns here are good, Walther is a notch above
Another comprehensive and informative review. Thanks, again, for your efforts and opinions. Nice work, and very much appreciated! My pick is the Shield in all respects except for the grip. Out of the box, it is a great gun. Capacity is huge, 8+1. However, I must note that I added night sights, an Apex trigger, and stippled the grip. Most important, my wife loves shooting the Shield over all other pistols in that size range. It shoots like a compact. I appreciate your channel and your objective commentary!
Great video. Good information and comparisons. I appreciate the objective approach understanding that sometimes it comes down to what feels better in the shooter's hands.
My EDC is an LC9s. It looks great and has the sweetest trigger ever!. However, I shot 10 rounds out of a PPS M2 at the USCCA Expo and hit 9 rounds in the 10-ring, and a "flyer" in the 9-ring. I was impressed.
Great review!!! Not a bad choice with any of these 4 guns. While they are all nice I chose the LC9s-pro for my perceived advantages. 1) that amazing trigger (makes range time more fun) 2) 7+1 (don't know if I'll ever need it but it's there) 3) lightest weight (4-5 ounces is noticable) 4) Ruger has phenomenal customer service and made in USA 5) Price (other 4 advantages would be enough but this was pleasing) Thanks for the video
Surprised you didn't test the 3.3" Springfield XD-S. I like the Glock 43 the best, but an "ultimate review" needs to test the Springfield. Great product. Also like the Lc9s. I haven't shot the Walther or Shield but the Shield is a huge seller in my area people seem to love and swear by them.
I actually work at a gun store/range and our top seller is the Shield, the glock 43 is at #4 and the lc9s is at #5. The Shield and LC9s usually retail for 300-350. The G43 and PPS are usually in the 450 -475 range; although walther is doing a 100 dollar rebate at the moment. Also, why is the XDS not in this video? It's #6 on our top selling handguns list. Personally, I tell people to handle and test fire a shield and an Lc9s and go whichever they prefer. The PPQ and glock 43 are great, but I don't think you get 100-150 dollars of extra functionality vs the shield and Lc9s. Now that they lowered the license fee to 40 dollars in texas, you can get an LTC, holster, and some ammo for less than the 150 you could have spent just to get a more expensive gun.
Good video, however some great guns missing. The Kahr pm/cm 9's. The XDS. The Bp9cc from Bersa. The Honor Guard. The XDE if DA/SA is your thing. 1911"s. The Walther CCP. I know it's hard to get them all together so no criticism. Just stating that if someone is out to get a single stack 9 for cc some pretty darn good guns are missing from this list and worth a look.
I just received a brand new m&p shield 9mm and they must have tweaked the trigger. This one has no false reset, the trigger clearly and audibly clicks on reset and its a short pull to fire. I was surprised how much more accurately I could fire this new shield compared to my hk 40 usp compact (I know, hk's don't have the best triggers).
thanks for the vid helped me pick my next ccw : glock, m&p,lc9s pro were my finial choices ...went with lc9s pro I do like it. You get a lot for the price minus the mag. And that trigger wow.
I put the rubberized Talon Grip on my SD40VE a month and a half ago. The only thing that I can't figure out is why did I wait two years to buy it. The Talon Grip is incredible! It feels slightly tacky in your hand, but not sticky at all. I have yet to have it cause my shirt to ride up over the grip. I will be getting one for my Ruger LC9S too. It truly is the best $17.99 you can spend on any accessory for your pistol.
I love Pistol's yep very underrated pistol, I carried one for two years, put 5600 rounds plus through that weapon, and changed nothing.. and it never bucked on me once, not one malfunction.
Nice video. Everyone sleeps on the Bersa BP9cc. It is a lower priced option that people see as cheap. And, Oh what a trigger. I had a small feeding problem up front that the factory polished for free. No problems hundreds of rounds later. I've had it 3-4 years now. The Beretta Nano seems to have fallen off the planet also. While I would buy another BP9 again the Shield has always had my eye.
Yeeeaahh! Uncle Wally, Uncle Wally! I knew what was going to happen as soon as you let us know you were going to be doing this! Great job on the whole video!
Regarding the G43, mine came from the distributor with very nice AmeriGlo night sights. Also, if you want an extra round, you can simply add an inexpensive Pearce +1 magazine base to you mags .
Shield 2.0, i like the manual thumb safety on these types of pistols. Carried a 1911 for years, hammer cocked with thumb safety engaged, the shield is like a mini 1911 with the thumb safety. I really like it.
I’ve got to say I’ve owned the shield, lc9s, and the G43 and the Glock is my favorite, not stock though I’ve added XS big dot sights, talon grips, Taran tactical extensions and aftermarket spring cups. The shield is a very close second to me though. If you guys decide on going with the shield I highly recommend you use a kydex holster instead of a leather or nylon holster though. I had a tagua iwb leather holster and the pressure of my belt would cause the mag release to depress, especially if I was bent over or turned in a flexible angle, never happened with a kydex.
I purchased a Glock 43 and turned it into a Gucci Glock. The stock Glock 43 is excellent out of the box, but there's nothing like a Gucci Glock. Out of these in their stock form, I would choose the Walther PPS M2. It is larger, but I feel like it has the least amount of recoil. My groupings were excellent when I borrowed my mate's PPS and the ergonomics were great. Love the Ruger LC9S design as well. Reminds me of my grandpa's CZ 83 and Walther PPK/S but it's a polymer 9mm.
Good to see the fixed the horrible trigger on the old LC9 with this newer one. The trigger on my old LC9 is probably the worst trigger on any gun I've shot.
Not a bad video. I do wish the focus was on the targets during the shooting bit. Today I ended up with an LC9s Pro. I've run 98 rounds of 124gr UMC through it (one round was missing from each box). It is a bit snappy for sure. The trigger totally sold me over the Glock 43. 7+1 capacity is nice also. As for take down, I'm not expecting to do it as often once I get used to such a small pistol. I tend to point shoot at ten yards and under, so the sights don't bother me too much. But that gap between the dots is on the large side. I wanted something that is light and doesn't need a belt for jeans and tshirt hot summer days. The LC9s Pro seems to do the job. I did want to see the PPS M2, but it was sold out. I was pulling my shots a bit to the left both right handed and left handed (I'm an ambidextrous shooter, right eye dominant). I'm hoping it is just a grip thing that practice will fix. The long trigger reset is not an issue since the recoil forces re-pointing anyway. It is still possible to get into a cadence before running dry.
Ruger LC9S PRO broke after 180 rounds fired. Sent back to Ruger for repair. Sold it do to lacking confidence in said firearm. Glock 43 didn't fit my hand. Settled on Shield 9mm. Had Apex trigger enhancement/Carry kit installed. Absolutely outstanding performing firearm. Fired approx 600 rounds. Firearm seems like its getting better in performance. Shield all the way.
Taurus 709 Slim 9mm. Striker fire. SA only, second strike capability if weak primer. Guns and Ammo did a shootout of too ten 9mm single stacks when Glock 43 came out. Three guns made it past the thousand round mark with no issues, Glock 43, Walther and the $249 Taurus Pt 709 Slim.
Another great comparison video! Had and sold the LC9s, shot the Shield (more than once), bought the G43, wish I could have tried the PPS M2 before getting the G43. However, I'll be sticking with the G43. Still want to try the PPS M2, and who knows, maybe I'll get one as well.
My girlfriend absolutely loves the pps, we rented a various number of guns before purchasing. The walther melts into your hands like a hpk fullsize. The smoothness of controls/largest dot sights was great! I own a sheild with the crimson trace trigger guard. As much as I like it, I envy the walther. My shields control buttons are the worst I've ever seen. My slide stop button only works 1/3 tries. The physical touch chambered indicator feels the same whether it's chambered or not. The ergonomics don't even compare to the walther. And there is no striker indicator on the sheild, which is not a huge deal to me, but I like knowing whether or not the striker is primed just looking at it. Now the Sheild has two huge advantages that I do love the chambered inspection hole is much larger than the Walther. Which is great only in the daytime if you need to check the chamber. In the dark the walther physical touch indicator will beat the Sheild. Also the breakdown of the Sheild does not require you to pull the trigger. The #1 negligent discharge comes from pulling the trigger on a gun that you only meant to take the slide off. Not a worry with the sheild. But another con would be that field stripping the Sheild will take longer and can be a little tricky to get the pin down inside the handle to break it down. Hands down the walther is the easiest, and fastest breakdown of any gun I have ever seen. Granted you still must pull the trigger. Other than that I am much more comfortable shooting the sheild at longer ranges (the laser trigger guard is a tremendous help) than the walther pps. But @ 15 yards I will prefer the walther everyday! Seriously I have never had more problems using a guns controls than the sheild. Even putting the slide back on, everything must line up just right
Come on Ruger, they got everything right with the lc9s, lightest weight, smallest size, yet they had to leave machine marks on the slide 14:53 and blue the gun? seriously? bluing? blued mag too? The shield is in the same price range it has a stainless slide+mag and Armornite on top of that. A carry gun sees more sweat than any other kind of firearm, blued...
Great video. I have been thinking about a LC9s Pro, for carry when I can't carry my Taurus PT92. The video convinced me.....going to find one and buy. Thanks for the info.
Awesome video! I went with the Glock 43. Found one on sale with free upgraded night sights for $508 out the door (everything brand new). Bought the extender magazines and will get the laser/light combo and that will be it.
Shield. Trigger becomes awesome after a thousand rounds. 2.0 is even better. This group has to watch out for the Sig P365 attacking from above (in price point). I have two shields, I prefer the one with the Talon Sandpaper grips. I'd like to try the LC9S, but the one in the video looked worn. Since the XD-S sold so well, it should have been included. Probably the P938 too... We are in a golden age of guns!
PPS M2 has my vote. Been my reliable carry for several years now. No mods needed. Out of the box awesomeness. All I did was put a hogue sleeve for a grippier grip.
Couple things to keep in mind for those contemplating getting a PPS M2: 1. Not aftermarket heavy compared to the others. So if you like to modify, etc you may see this as a negative. But again why fix what is already fantastic? 2. Walther says not to use +P. Fine by me. The pros are plentiful. 3. Mags are a little more pricy, like $40. And they are made out of metal so u have to monitor and maintain m for a couple tiny rust spots now and then.
I have heard of Shield RSA problems. Yes even after the recall on the earlier models. Mine has been great. Most of my carry is between it and a G27 converted to 9 with the Lone Wolf barrel. Problem with the Shield is depending on where your finger is. Too much finger in there and it's all over the place. I pocket carry it with a RFT Remora, or IWB with the Aliengear 3.0
Very nice comparison. You talk like a gentleman too! I'd be happy to show your video to any family member. My personal vote goes to the Ruger, especially for the "aesthetics", as I don't care for "ugly" guns. But then none of these guns are really ugly. Only I am ugly!! "Ach du lieber mein friend"!!!
P938 + PPS M2 are my rotation in 9mm single-stack. I've shot at least 100 rounds through the G43, LC9s Pro, and Shield and I'm comfortable with my choices. Reliable. accurate, trigger, magazine eject, concealable, does it for me. I'm not a fan of the XDs at all. I could be tempted by a PM9/CM9.
I have the shield, 800 rounds through it so far. I love it.
9mm Shield @ $350 in 2017. Added Magguts and it's even more perfect!
Still watching in 2021.
Thanks for taking the time!
I have to agree with on the PPS M2 being my favorite! Great review as always!
+Brandon Dubisky Thanks man!
I've never played dominoes, but I would with him ! 🙂
When I went shopping for my 9 I looked at several different models and dry fired each one. I picked my S&W MP Shield 9 because it felt the most comfortable in my hand when I held it. The trigger break was easy to find and required less pressure to squeeze the trigger past the break then the others.
That was my choice also and happy it was
PPS M2 all the way!
@@czwarlord9243 You're one of the few. I've got a Glock 43, and Shield 2.0 and I still rock my PPS m2 all day.
@@czwarlord9243 You're listing guns all 100-150$ more than the PPS and say I need to get out more? Lmao.

The Shield comes with 7+1 and 8+1 in the box.
I've got the Shield and Glock 43 as carry options and love them both. The Glock conceals a little better but I prefer the overall functionality of the Shield. The Glock is a little awkward when attempting rapid magazine change outs. Great video though! Appreciate the time put into your show.
Lube inside magazine area keep eject clean and lube and use oem
Mike Simonsen Have you thought about the Pearce Grip with +1 round? only $10
Mike Simonsen Taran Tactical makes some good quality magazine extensions and it comes with a new properly calculated spring for the extra rounds, up to +3
The G43 was one of those guns I was naturally good at shooting holding about 3 inch groups at 10 yards with it. The Shield, I could never git gud with even aftera couple hundred rounds.
You can get one of those Z springs if you don't want to add anymore length to it. I use a Pearce +1 with a Vickers +2 as a backup.
Like you said , all of them are really good , right now I'm carrying the LC9s without safety with a Ruger 9 round factory mag , I love how it's a natural extension of the gun itself and doesn't look like a 6 or 7 round mag with an extension , it's awesome and the trigger is like a 200 dollar add on trigger , it's so good .
walther pps m2 is the best.
XxVeNoMxX I agree PPS is the best of the bunch, I like the old euro mag release though. The Glock isn't acceptable for me plastic sights, extensions that add no additional rounds and bad grip angle. Shields not bad but trigger kinda sucks.
I have the M1 and I still love it. I put on some grip tape to improve the grip profile and now it's absolutely perfect for CCW.
Walther gun(s) the best trigger out of the box bar none!
I have the Glock, I hate it in comparison to the PPS M2. I will be purchasing it soon, I love the way shoots, feels, and look.
@J Hoffy LC9S Superior to the PPS? Lmao have you shot both guns? The LC9S reset reminded me of a revolver
Carried the PPS M1 for about four years. Now, I have an M2 in my CCW holster.
But, while I really do like the M2 (it's utterly reliable and carryable), I can't say I'm not disappointed with the changes Walther made between the designs-- not the least of which are:
A) the M1 & M2 mags arent interchangeable between them
B) The paddle release is gone in favor of an 'American style' button... Not a dealbreaker, but the paddle was one reason I bought the origional, in the first place...
C) While the ergos are more rounded & comfortable-- in my experience, they don't fit my hand as well, and don't allow the M2 to hide as well as the flatter M1
Bottom line: I'm still a Walther fan, but not against trying a Shield, tbh... Might as well save some money if I'm gonna be forced into a design with push-button mag release, and more rounded ergos... fwiw
The m1 was so square, I don’t know how it’s possible for the rounded shape to not conceal better.
36:55 he talks about snappy shooter. I replaced a Keltec PF9 with the Ruger LC9s. The LC9s feels like shooting a 380 compared to that. I love the LC9s and the trigger is like butter.
I agree, and the ec9s is every bit as good.
Thanks dude. Went with the shield. They're 190 right now. Can't beat that deal.
Apex trigger.
chris stel yes the new version has great trigger, but.. if you shoot the m2 you might be torn. ThAt being said I am not a trigger snob,I can get used to most triggers.
chris stel shud got the apex

Only gun really missing the the Springfield xds
Yes! He picked my Gun! The Walther PPS M2!!!!! It is A Awesome CCW!
Ruger Lc9. Mine carries inside the waistband with a nice HolsterPro Holster. Accurate as hell. Nice gun with Federal Defense Ammo. All you will ever need.
I have this and LOVE it ! Easy to shoot easy to conceal. I have no trouble with recoil. Shooting 115gr at the range..
That’s the one I went with. Best trigger, best capacity, lightest weight, shortest length. If it has a drawback I guess the sight dots could be bigger
Shield or PPS No doubt.
own many glocks-carry walther pps m1 9mm.so flat and good...got new $370
i love the german paddles on mine.
Great review man, and I agree, I'll take the walther, everyone else can enjoy their Glocks.
+spicecrop Yeah I'm a fan of all types of guns. Thanks for watching bro
I was for sure I was getting the shield....now I think i want the Walther...is it very reliable?
The only knock (if you want to call it one) is the capacity.
lc9s accurate, reliable and light weight gun
The LC9S is my favorite of the four. Great trigger, very accurate and very thin and concealable. When I'm not carrying my Glock 26 the LC9S is my go to ccw.
Totally agree with your comparisons. I have the PPS and it has become my every day carry.
It’s a great little machine.
held Glock 43 and Shield 9mm and Walther pps m2 LE.
the Walther ppsm2 9mm LE
stood out craftsmanship quality of Walther. sold my shield 9mm today and purchased the Walther pps m2 9mm LE. love it the wife will do. plus I own Walther Creed
Walther ppq m2 45 now Walther pps m2 9mm LE. Walther
How do the walther creed and ppq compare?
No Springfield XDS? I love my M&P but still wow?
I love my PPS. Shoots like a bigger gun.
@@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 Now THAT is a very true statement!
In fact, my PPS is my wife's favorite gun.
She loves that little guy to the point where I'm a bit jealous - lol.
Without even watching the video I’ll say best choice overall is the M&P. Price, performance, ergonomics and styling.
I've owned them all
Glock 43 - Great gun. Suffers a little in capacity but overall the best made out of this group
Shield - Best pistol for the money. Trigger isn't great but practice will remedy any issue with that
LC9S - Best trigger of the 4
PPS M2 - I had a lot of issues with fails to eject and feed. Walther is a company that seems to stand behind their product)
I'm not trying to claim any of the 4 are better than the other..I'm just relaying my experience and opinion. If I had to buy one and only one, and money was not an issue, I'd choose the glock. If considering bang for the buck, Shield is the clear winner imo.
Steve Rudolph very informative comment, thank you
Wow, what a well done review.
I have watched most of these videos twice, really helped when I was making my decision for my edc. favorite gun channel.
I have to go with the G43. I have one with Pearce +1 base plates and Tru-Glo tfx night sights. Really nice carry gun. I would like to try the Walther however and I like that the Smith is made in the USA. Great job on the video. It was really informative and fun to watch. Keep um coming man.
Now do one including the Springfield XD-S and Springfield Hellcat.
I have a pps m2
Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but the Shield's mag sticking out that small amount is by design. It's there so you can rip the mag out, if there is a double-feed.
My vote shield! Mine has been awesome for years!
+Big Johnson I love the SHield as well. thanks man!
I own the Ruger LC9S. Fantastic gun.
All four are good firearms.
Its all about what feels good to you.
still satisfied with LC9s?
I picked up one today I'll let you know in a couple days
@@aghtu yep. Daily carry.
Great review!!!
Not a bad choice with any of these 4 guns. While they are all nice I chose the LC9s-pro for my perceived advantages.
1) that amazing trigger (makes range time more fun)
2) 7+1 (don't know if I'll ever need it but it's there)
3) lightest weight (4-5 ounces is noticable)
4) Ruger has phenomenal customer service and made in USA
5) Price (other 4 advantages would be enough but this was pleasing)
Thanks for the video
Surprised you didn't test the 3.3" Springfield XD-S. I like the Glock 43 the best, but an "ultimate review" needs to test the Springfield. Great product. Also like the Lc9s. I haven't shot the Walther or Shield but the Shield is a huge seller in my area people seem to love and swear by them.
Exactly
MrEugeneMosesKalashnikov What are your #2 & 3 sellers? Where is Walter on the list?
Good video, however some great guns missing. The Kahr pm/cm 9's. The XDS. The Bp9cc from Bersa. The Honor Guard. The XDE if DA/SA is your thing. 1911"s. The Walther CCP. I know it's hard to get them all together so no criticism. Just stating that if someone is out to get a single stack 9 for cc some pretty darn good guns are missing from this list and worth a look.
15:45 isn’t lovely how every semi-auto slide rack and trigger pull has its own distinct sound?
I just received a brand new m&p shield 9mm and they must have tweaked the trigger. This one has no false reset, the trigger clearly and audibly clicks on reset and its a short pull to fire. I was surprised how much more accurately I could fire this new shield compared to my hk 40 usp compact (I know, hk's don't have the best triggers).
Springfield XDS-9 wins.
The LC9s is going for $305 here outside Seattle.
I got an ec9s for $200 new a few months ago.
Love the stats and specs comparison, great camera work and shooting comparison.
thanks for the vid helped me pick my next ccw : glock, m&p,lc9s pro were my finial choices ...went with lc9s pro I do like it. You get a lot for the price minus the mag. And that trigger wow.
I appreciate the effort put into this video. It is definitely full of useful information. 👍🏾
Amazing intro that intro was life
M&P Shield here. Love it.
FYI, Talon grips $17 bucks, no more grip issue with Shield. I recommend the rubberized, not granulated. Installation is a BREEZE!!!
I love Talon grips. Really does help with shooting the small pistols
I love Pistol's yep very underrated pistol, I carried one for two years, put 5600 rounds plus through that weapon, and changed nothing.. and it never bucked on me once, not one malfunction.
tbonemillz i just got my new Talon grips for my Sheild, this installation finna be A BREEZE!
Need to get some soon for the Shield
There should have been an Springfield Xds 3.3in on here
Cool 3rd-person shot showing Mrs. H workin' the camera.
+Myanameis Beestingz Thanks bro!
Sig 938 or G43....the walther can eat lunch with them too I guess.
+Ruben Lopez Thanks man! Lol
Regarding the G43, mine came from the distributor with very nice AmeriGlo night sights. Also, if you want an extra round, you can simply add an inexpensive Pearce +1 magazine base to you mags .
Shield all the way
Shield 2.0, i like the manual thumb safety on these types of pistols.
I had a tagua iwb leather holster and the pressure of my belt would cause the mag release to depress, especially if I was bent over or turned in a flexible angle, never happened with a kydex.
the best choice is the one you are most comfortable with. Me? I carry the Glock 43.
You are the go-to-guy for info on single stacks.
I've shot the PPS M2, G43 and the Shield. PPS M2 FTW. If it was 2oz lighter and the flush fit mag held 7, it would be just about perfect.
"Said firearm"... ROFL
Where's the XD-S?
I get what you tried to do, but the XD-S is in my opinion a better gun all around than all these you compared.
Not here?
+David Giles Thanks man.
I love the way you shoot, it irritates me to see people adjust their grip with each shot. Thank you for having a proper grip on your pistols!
I had that problem for a while. It's just a learning thing. Thanks for watching
Great choice for ccw man
Awesome video! I went with the Glock 43. Found one on sale with free upgraded night sights for $508 out the door (everything brand new). Bought the extender magazines and will get the laser/light combo and that will be it.
They have 8 round mags for the PPS M2
Couple things to keep in mind for those contemplating getting a PPS M2:
Overall best compact 9 for me. No regrets. Would buy another.
