Hey @SkylerFire why do Squads get a regular engine as a spare rig? Does FDNY not keep spare squad units? Also when a squad company is in a spare are they limited on types of calls they can respond to? (ie: no extrication tools)
There is only 2 Spare Squads. One is for emergency use has to be ready. Other is being used by SQ288…. SQ18, 61, 252, 270 are all in engines. They are not limited to any calls. They are assigned on confirmed extrications not the initial call. All ladder companies have the tools they were only assigned when it’s complicated extrication.
Hey skyler, Do all of the other squad company's that have spares have that number board thing on the side of the passenger side doors? And are they all in the old 2009 engines or are some in other years?

It’s in tape. But there is 3 sections of numbers listed from 0-9 they are all in white.

All spares have the number boards. These are spare engines so they do not have the room for all squad equipment.
