@@robertschultz6922 Chicago Snorkeling Rig I believe Runs with the main RESCUE squads in that city. They sit behind the main Squad so you can't see them from the front of the station. So any Chicago station that houses the Rescues.
Skyler, Have Merry Christmas 🎄 Squad Second piece is Company all by itself! I am surprised that it doesn't have it own dedicated crew, with all the responses that it can run on. I still say that a tandem heavy rescue style with pump eould fit in the bay. Everything, but minus the kichen sink! LOL wow! In the New Year!! More 🌟Fleet Friday🌟!!! Happy 🎊 New Year!! See you in 2024🎉👍👍👍
Wonderful job showing both pieces and explaining what the equipment is and how it is used. Someone put a lot thought in into the design of the rigs. Looking forward to next week. MERRY CHRISTMAS
Hello Skyler, just to say thank you for your brilliant Fleet Friday series, and to wish you a Happy Christmas and a Healthy and Prosperous New Year. Murray (Retired, London Fire Brigade).
Very nice. Thank you for showing us this rig. God bless you guys for what you all do. Happy New Year. They hold a lot of equipment. They are so equipment.
I have a suggestion. We see what the trucks do but what we don’t know or see is the additional training that these specialized units go through to be certified for those specialized units. Basically what course they have to attend and where they receive that training and what are the requirements that members must meet and maintain to stay on those units. Thx. Also what are the different levels you have to be at to be on Rescue 1 versus the smaller special operations trucks.
Love your Fleet Fridays! Also saw the patch shoutout South Metro gave you on their vlog - neat! One question... I've noticed you've profiled quite a few obscure pieces in Fleet Friday. What in your opinion is the most obscure FDNY piece? Also, I'd love to see a profile of 343 or Firefighter II sometime if you ever get the chance. 🙂
@@SkylerFire awesome, I hope you can do one of these for the collapse units soon, and the container units FDNY has. That skid loader gets used a lot. I always wanted to know how the department transports their backhoe to large incidents. If they just drive them normally code three it would be a huge site!!!
Thanks for the video. I noticed this also has blue lights as well as the traditional red lights. Is this because it is a hazmat unit? Or do more fire units have blue lights and i am just blind to them
Can squad, and rescue companies act as hazmat units if there are several incidents at the same time, like during the anthrax attack a few years ago? With only one hazmat city wide I could see some times when several incidents could occur simultaneously!
Squads and Hazmat Tech Engines are all Hazmat Tech Level 2. Specialists are only on hazmat 1. There is a Reserve Hazmat that can be activated with OT personnel.
@robertschultz6922 no idea. They man it when they need to for special events…. Specialist will not have to be used everyday. Very rare for specialist for 2 calls at same time… Hazmat Techs handle 80% of calls….
Used for cutting things. Usually metal, maybe like a fence. Ajax is a pneumatic tool with a cutting wheel, a chisel and a few other attachments that can be used for auto extrication as well.
READY FOR WHATEVER,WHENEVER,"DIGG ITT ! THANKS SKYLER !
No problem! Thanks for watching
Love the squad concept in FDNY and in Chicago, Chicago's little snorkel comes in handy.
Thanks for watching
What station has the snorkel in CFD? I just moved here from Nevada and I want to go on some tours of stations

It needs the squad to support the rig. Doesn’t have airbags and other equipment to be able to run alone plus it would only be 2FFs
Awesome to learn about all the different types of equipment and vehicles they have! Thanks!
You bet! Thanks for watching!

Thanks! Much appreciated! I don’t have an answer to that just yet. Check back in a few months lol
great vid, still waiting for HazMat 1!!
Waiting on new rig to come back. It’s been Out of service
Great video! Would you be able to do fleet Fridays on any medical units?
I’ll look into it. I don’t know yet
My good friend FF Eric Allen was a member of squad 18... He was taken on 9/11
🙏🏼
Can you do the hazmat tech engine second piece?
HMTU 44 is coming soon
Yet another great video! Any time frame on haz-mat tech 44 and command tactical? Have a merry Christmas and a safe and healthy new year.
44 I have. January sometime… command tactical I don’t have finished yet
Merry Christmas FDNY
Thanks for watching! Merry Christmas 🎄
Yeah!!! So awesome. Skylar, is this the same type as the rescue units have for their second pieces?
Rescue units have collapse rescues

Can you please do a standard engine company or rescue 1 for Fleet Friday sometime.
You will have to wait and see
Hey skyler, suggestion, you think that you can try to do squad 1 next week, if so uhh yeah Have a safe Christmas.
Squad 1 would have 95% the same amount of stuff just might be in different compartments.

All FDNY units have blue light in the rear

Any idea why the Bronx doesn’t have a hazmat tech engine?
Good question…. I suggested that over a year ago either E42 or E81 we will see what happens…

Sorry
Ajax is a pistol pneumatic air hammer, with different bits.
Whizzer is a cut off tool
