I definitely like the 2 series GC better than the CLA, especially the interior styling. Curious to see if this car in fwd trim will be as good a handler as the Civic Si has proved to be. I realize it will accelerate much quicker, but I value handling over outright speed. The styling is much more subtle than the SI, and imo more appealing.

This BMW 2 series grand coupe is a new series but BMW wants to share the number. This is like a 1 series sedan but there already is one in the Asian market, so they made it a 2.. there’s different 2 series, there’s the grand coupe which is it’s own car, the grand tourer which is a minivan called the 2 series and that’s it’s own car and then we have the coupe/convertible 2 series that we know, RWD fun car and there’s 3 different cars in all sharing different platforms under the same names which I don’t understand. Why does BMW share names with a fun car mixed with a fwd boring sedan and on top of that a minivan ?? I don’t know

I actually think the overall design is pretty decent. The grille is a far better design than the grille on the 1 Series. The only thing I don't like it the top of the boot lid. It looks so chunky.

Personally I liked the idea of front wheel drive (it costs for a brand new BMW with all the features 35,000 usd) if they made it rear wheel drive I think the price is gonna pop up a little bit, and the interior is already small for the drive shaft) the only thing I didn’t like is the front look, the rear is fantastic tho.

Trend of making uglier and uglier cars with each generation continues (you can include new models from Audi - A4, A6, and incoming A3). Basically they are creating infotainment systems on 4 wheels. Touchscreen madness everywhere. LEDs, Fancy lights, fake exaust pipes (rectangular in shape ofc) They say like oh, we improved car with every generation. Don't think so. Quality is lower and lower, plastic is more squishier and starts rattling much sooner, suspensions also. The only thing they improve with each generation is number of tablets, and LED bulbs inside cabin.

To be honest a Kia has nothing apologise for on value and in Australia these 4pot 235 BMW's will be more than the Stinger, which is a twin scroll turbo V-6, rear wheel drive with 365 hp; 4.7 secs 0-60.

It seems like BMW has lost their ability to differentiate rear ends of their cars/coupe from their SUV rear ends. This 2's rear is like a crossover SUV when seen head on (at least basing it off the photos)

Both Mercedes and BMW made the 2 series and cla cheaply. Don't buy either of those if you value your money. The 3 series was well made and so will be the new c class. Anything smaller then those is just crap
The CLA and A3 are FWD cars... and the Audi is pretty much a Golf. I don't think one is clearly better than the others - would be cool to see a comparison test though.

I don't think he's gonna do it. Because the 240i has chances to win and that would be against the public opinion. F.ex. he never made an in-depth review of the new 1 series, simply because he would then have to admit it's a very good car compared to its competition (all other reviews did) and that would go against opinions of all the kids watching this channel.

But CLA is fwd too, and to be honest, they are no real competitors anymore, behind the doors they work together on new technologies like autonomous driving and possibly ev platforms too. This huge fan rivalry is just massive garbage and really unnecessary. If you know the history, it was originally intended to form one big company out of Benz, BMW and Daimler to compete against Opel (which were market leader in Germany by far). Eventually, Daimler and Benz merged together and sold luxury cars and sportscars. BMW was intended to produce aero engines and small cars for everyone, which they did, but not within the big southern German company formed. Mercedes-Benz produced the bodyworks for BMW for all their models since the BMW 3/20 AM1, but as BMW decided to make luxury cars too with the 326, Mercedes didn't want to give them their bodyworks as they made comparably luxurious cars. This is how they got rivals, but to this day, they are more like good friends that like to provocate each other. And now, they have a joint venture, just like it was supposed to be maybe 90 years ago.

Tobias K The fact that they work together does not mean that they are no rivals. They are different company’s aiming for the same customers. In fact its a battle of the Titans, together with Audi. Lucky for Mercedes this CLA rival from BMW looks like the designer was a drunk Korean.

On the other hand though, there will always be fan rivalry, since it's human nature and to share differing ideologies and why is that bad? @@skmagic11 See the problem is, in Portugal, because we're dumbasses, 90% of people drive around in A160/180 and CLA180, so the vast majority of them are Renaults. Also the A160 and 180 have torsion beam at the rear, which is a disgrace for a Merc. That just lead me to hate them because it just shows people just want the Mercedes badge and not a good car
