I really wish we had more time with Legion. By the time we actually get Legion as a companion, we are at end game and playing anymore than a couple of missions will result in a worse ending.
By far, the best arc of the second and third games. Although its easy to achieve the paragon and good ending, it's very rewarding see the end of the arc. The genophage arc is also rewarding but after the cue on the citadel, the quarian-geth arc becomes the center of my attention. Great video, I hope it will bring more fans to such amazing universe. Quarians and geth are my favorite. I cant wait to see legion and tali in this new version!
coup* ha took me a few seconds to figure out what you mean by cue on the citadel. I like the Geth, they're cool. But I'd say Vorcha are probably my favorite species design.
I hated this arc. The lore of the Geth gets basically white washed so that their previous flaws/motivations are ignored in favor of making them hapless victims with a Pinocchio complex. In addition, I feel like Bioware was trying to write a gray conflict, but they made it too lopsided. The Quarians are depicted as utterly unrepentant and un-understanding, while the Geth are portrayed as being poor victims who wouldn't so much as hurt a fly unless provoked.
Damn. I wish I could reply Mass Effect again for the first time. Here's a tip: Do everything. Not only does doing everything give you more insight into your companions, the world, and other things, some things you do also play a part in the second and third installments, either huge or small, and you might miss something crucial. Granted, you will not find EVERYthing in your first playthrough, although I do recommend you get as much done as possible so by the time you finish all three games, you'll see just how much everything played together.
@@EchoObserver9 It is. First and only series I've played throughout repeatedly just to find all the different endings, cutscenes, and interactions. The rest I just didn't feel as immersed and dedicated. But in the end after all those playthroughs all those hours to find my choices were just,.........
Something to add to the lore: During the Morning War, there were many Quarians who sympathized with the Geth and tried to protect them. But were immediately gunned down by the military for aiding machines. When the Geth killed 99% of the worlds population, they spared the remaining 1 million Quarians and let them escape through the Relay. The surviving Quarians who defended the Geth, left with the Migrant Fleet in fear they would be killed next if they stayed in Rannoch.
I think the quarrians who defended the geth were already dead by the time the geth got serious in standing up for themselves and waging war with the rest of the quarrians.
This video is pretty generous to the qaurians considering they created a new race of beings, attempted genocide (even killing their own people who got in the way), and act like victims because the Geth fought back.. but hey Tali is one of my fav crew members so it's whatever
Lost to development hell because of Andromeda's lackluster reception(because it was a glitchy, incoherent mess of a game made by rank amateurs in an engine not designed for that sort of thing). They were going to add the Quarians via DLC but it'll probably never happen now unless they completely scrap Andromeda's timeline and start over with something else.
I always did say that the geth almost look exactly like Quarians and only realized recently that the quarians actually made em. Guess a lot of lore flew over my head
Here's one thing I think people look over in the quarian geth war. The quarians had a population of billions during the uprising and they eventually got reduced to only 17 million after that war. In me3 its implied that it was the military who shut down all the geth along with some civilian help. What I'm getting at here is that there was no way that the quarians would have billions of military personnel. They would have been a small fraction of the population. So that means that the geth must have murdered tons of innocent civilians along with the military personnel they came into conflict with.
Great video, but I think there should be a warning at the start to new players. After all, finding out the secret history of the Geth is a cool moment in the game, and shouldn't be robbed. Hmm, but maybe new players aren't watching lore videos to begin with?
You forget that the 'secret' history was the Geth trying to build sympathy, with the Reaper Indoctrinated code linking it in to your mind, they are not above lying or deceiving. Not to mention if you go back to ME1 you'll remember the Prothean VI on Illos talking about more than one Reaper left behind, I.E. Sovereign, to prevent the discovery of the Reapers too early as they were there to observe, meaning the Reaper on Rannoch must've found out that Quarians were near completion of deciphering a Prothean beacon and started to ' Upgrade' the Geth. The Reapers have been behind major events including Synthetic rebellions. You'll notice Shepard's hostile resolve when talking to Legion-Geth VI when showing the runtime of the Geth VI hive mind, noting they were upgraded and not evolved.
I do agree that there should be a warning for new players in these videos, however, in my opinion, you're kind of robbing yourself if you're a new player regardless because finding out about these races and what their backstory is and other things in-game is 10x better than going in already knowing about them and what's going on. It's like watching someone play a game and then going into the same game to play it yourself afterwards. It just won't feel the same as going in blind.
I feel that bioware aped the trilogy by peaking too soon & expanding the game too quickly. The trilogy should have focused on the geth. In the same way that space is infinite, the story should have had plenty of room to move. The reapers/collectors should have been presented as an ominous threat at the end of the trilogy as a twist.
How come in the Quarian hologram flashbacks they're wearing their envirosuits? I thought they only had to do that after they fled their planet due to their diminishing immune systems and in case the risk of a hull breach?
That occurs when Shepard enters the mainframe so to speak. It uses his subconscious to project the images in a manner in which he can interpret them. Since Shepard has never seen an unsuited quarian the projections don’t appear that way.
They created a new life and instead of trying to understand things are doing its best to try to make him come and stand until you have a curving Shepherd just bumped into this whole mess that they make themselves with her help and them there and stuff out for themselves and you as well haha
In all three games, you will get lore pages for an insane amount of things that will show pictures for the most important things, and for the ones that don't want to do it themselves, also are read for you. There are also a lot of secondary things in the lore that do not have a picture and are not read to you so just know that many of those are not as important but are still very nice to read and learn about.
I never liked the Quarians, I preferred their creations. I like Tali with limitaions: didn't like that she kept calling Shepard's trustworthiness into question. Kal'reeger is cool though.
Tali only questions your trustworthiness if you put her people in danger. Hence why she's one of best characters there. She is a sweethearth but if you do something harmful to her people she is a spitfire. Besides she and Wrex are the ones with biggest responsaibilites in the series, if you destroy Maelon's data Wrex questions your trustworthiness in ME3 as well.
Unlike Garrus, he always trusts you because he doesn't have a dying species to worry about and you never endanger his species somehow. Hence why Tali and Garrus are my favorites. treat them with respect and they have your back no matter what.
Tali has quite a bit of responsibility to make sure she doesn’t inadvertently endanger the migrant fleet somehow so it’s wise for her to be cautious especially if you make decisions that could endanger her people. Otherwise she basically trusts shepherd with her life.
I know Quarians have no immune system or whatever but still weird they haven't tried terraforming a planet yet to fit their natural enviroment they evolved within.
Yes it spoils stuff a bit, i recommend going in as blind as possible to discover all the lore yourself, hope you enjoy your experience ME is some of the greates RPG's ever made in my opinion.

That's why I brought Legion with me to the flotilla when Tali had a trial there in ME2. It just made it 10x funnier and less serious.
Probably didn't help proving her innocence though 😂
I really wish we had more time with Legion. By the time we actually get Legion as a companion, we are at end game and playing anymore than a couple of missions will result in a worse ending.
