I remember when I was a kid, my grandmother took me to Toys “R” Us after school on a Friday to pick out whatever Sega Genesis game I wanted. All of the stuff I wanted was sold out the hits like Golden Axe and Streets of Rage, etc. I stumbled upon Insector X and figured I was “settling“ for this game. When I got home and started playing it I couldn’t keep my hands off of the controller!!!! A very good classic game for the Genesis that doesn’t get enough credit even till this day. RIP grandma you were the best!!!!! 💯💯💯🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
My very first console SHMUP ever. I remember it well and beaten it 3 times before was able to actually move on to the newer generation stuffs. Hard as hell, even on its easy mode (well, actually Easy mode will stop after you beaten the 3rd boss I believe) and I still have it sitting in my room as of yet, though the genesis has lost its powersource and the TVs I have are now only all HD+... 2nd was Wings of Wor. First game here I know that secretly-yet-blatantly crawls the difficulty as you power up and do better. I first did a 2-loop on Wings of Wor, then this one only once.
None of these games are retro; they're actual honest-to-god old games. Retro's when something's made in the *style* of something older. Hence the name.

love this game...the music is top tier on this one. Not sure how you or anyone can play with that blinding circle power up though

Solid playthrough AL. Looks competent for an arcade port and the only minor gripe is that the backgrounds are static and devoid of parallax scrolling.
Arcade is too sugary and tongue n cheek... Prefer the rawness of the genesis port.
