Amen brother but then again Richard is Richard but hail we used to go see David Allen at Gilleys back in the day and that was in Pasadena he played there all the time seen him open from Molly Hatchet Way back in the late 70s then back in the 90s every other Sunday he was playing in another club. I can’t remember the name but it wasn’t for from Pasadena but every other Sunday and the place would be packed crawfish boil chili cook off whatever that event had David Allan Coe was playing at itand packing them in yeah granted we were a bunch of bikers and locals and everybody but everybody had a good time. Never a problem with anybody or the police now it’s gonna drive me crazy thinking of the name of that place.
He sang the perfect country and western song…. About trains, prison, mama, pickup trucks and getting drunk!

Fun fact David Allen Cole killed a man in prison with a mop bucket. He was in the shower and the guy he killed was trying to rape him he was only 18 at the time. He ended up on death row and Johny cash help him get out of prison.

I went through a faze and it was a long one. David Allen Coe's music is all I allowed in my car and home.. I still listen every now and then cause I was into him and nothing but Lynyrd Skynyrd for many many years as in the 70s upto the 90s and the Millennial..I'm shocked that Richard thought that he'd never heard any of Coe's music cause he was at the top for so many years. I reckon some people do actually live under a rock, so to speak, or to young to have known. I even bought a Chrysler Newport Royal 2door hardtop cause Coe had one but mine wasn't a ragtop and it was a 1971 that was a mint and I put a 440 engine in it but I didn't know what I had at that time plus I have no idea what I did with the car cause I've had so many of em throughout my lifetime..Go home and get a few beers in ya Richard and listen to everything Coe wrote and sang, then you should have a better idea of who owned the car that you bought dirty filthy cheap. Just maintain everything and leave it at that cause you just made bank again with only one particular vehicle..I'm guessing 50gs+ for the car at the right auction

Fun fact: David Allen Coe did a Country Metal album with Pantera (Rex, Vinne Paul and Dimebag) called Rebel Meets Rebel.
They recorded the songs in the late 90's early 2000's before Dime's death.

Davis Allen Coe wrote songs for Kid Rock, and alot of other singer's. He also had alot of raunchy song's that most people wouldn't hear! He's written alot of songs for himself and other's while in prison! Which he's been in and out for decades! He's a badass!! Period!. Knowing is half the battle!!
I was lucky to see David Allen Coe back in the mid 80's in Georgia on one of military leaves back in the US and he was great and at the end of his performance everyone was flicking their Bic lighters and I burnt my finger hahahaha

From what I've resd Coe is very demanding about his venues these days. I saw him several times dating back to the mid 70's.
DAC tries to scam everybody. He raises his fee last minute. He tried it with Richard and he said fk that and canceled the show. He tried to pull at Biker Rally in Ga. and do a last minute "discount" show. They knew his scam and said "Thanks but no thanks, we good on the bands".
I officially dub that the "Mopar Coe-Car" lol.. And honestly Richard how can you not know who David Allan Coe is being such a big Smokey and the Bandit fan?.. I grew up listening to his music and many of the greats thanks to my father and I was born in '86.
