@@gpw203 No doubt. I just hate the idea of having a car that just sits & does nothing because it's worth a ridiculous amount of money. This is obviously an expensive car but it's a hardcore driver which is how it should be in my opinion. I could easily get 5x what I paid for alot of the sports cars I own but none are concourse condition like that Daytona.

Great find. Amazing what a pointy nose and big wing on the back, and the aerodynamic back glass will do for the price of a '70 roadrunner. My lime 70 roadrunner was just a low buck 383 4 speed but with a 440 its a ball to drive and I'm not scared to drive it and park it at the grocery store. Not knocking the superbird. I love it! I'm 63 and remember working at a service station in the mid 70's one night and a guy came in there with a ragged out lime green superbird that had lost the rear wing and was in terrible shape and I plugged a tire for him. Those things were dirt cheap then like most musclecars. My how things have changed!

In 91 I was building a new pulp mill in northern BC, living in an apartment complex, living the c-10 lowrider dream as a kid basically. A guy (from New Zealand), his wife and young daughter lived in suite below. He worked on mill construction also, but drove the rustiest most clapped out POS early 70's 1/2 ton, mustard crap yellow. Always working on it, and looking like it's on its last day. He comes over to my shiny hot rod after months of seeing me, and starts asking incredibly detailed and competent questions. Then shares his live story. He works all over the world on big projects, but loves cars. Here he had a Hemi superbird and Hemi factory wheel altered (I believe it was?) GTX. Both his cars were centerfold Hot Rod cars, and the deck car carrier he built, had a blown 440 which picturers showed beautiful. On days off he and family would drive to neighboring cities junkyards and buy certain engines, trans and rear ends. He'd package them in c-cans and ship home, were they could order parts for rebuild. Cool cool fella! If ever there was a story for don't judge a book by its color this was it! This guy bled Mopar! I often wonder what his collection looks like today.

Nice Ride , glad too hear what he paid for it, helps us know the value of these DREAM CARS, i hate when they dont reveal the price it drives me nuts, MY DREAM CAR is a 1971 Cuda ,the motor size dosent matter too me so a 340 , 440 would be good but my dream engine for that car is the Eleaphant 426 Hemi.

No, the scoops on the fenders are not air extractors. When racing with giant racing tires, the tires would rub the top of the fenders under cornering. The solution was to cut a hole in the top of the fender and cover it with a scoop.

Curious if the gas monkey garage complex was there in 1983-84. I had a 69 grand prix I bought in grand prairie that had a blown 400 so I took it to guy in the area of Irving tx off I35 but I can't recall the name or exact location. The end of this video jogged my memory and the strip side of the building is real familiar to me. Even the old tree.

My sister-in-law and her husband had two Superbirds in the early 70's. A green one and an orange one. They both got repo'd by the banks.

I know where one is but its funny because the old lady who owns it uses it as a chicken coop and in the 80s they used the wing as a swing for a baby to rock it back and forth while doing yard work. Its dented up and the motor rumored to be a hemi was used as a weight on a blade to grade the roads. No one knows where the motor and blade went. Also the wing is broken off.
