WEST TEXAS MUSCLE CAR RESCUE

- Welcome to Coffee Walk Ep. 139!
I got a last minute phone call last night that a group of cars that I have been chasing for a while now could finally be mine. The kicker? It was 4pm in Dallas and we had to make it to Amarillo with the truck and trailer by morning. (Insert dad joke)… CHALLENGE ACCEPTED.
My team and I took off from the shop last night and headed out West to Amarillo, Texas for an 800 mile rescue mission. Watch us save a 1966 Porsche 912, 1968 Dodge Charger 318 V8 and a 1969 Dodge Charger 383 V8 4V 4-speed. We’ve had a high amount of energy drinks and a low amount of sleep over the last 24 hours, but the juice was DEFINITELY worth the squeeze on this one!
As always… GO FAST, HAVE FUN & HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!! and thanks for watching!

I just want to thank Collins Brothers for rescuing all these old classics and any condition. If it wasn’t for people like you we wouldn’t have anything from the past to remember. Thank you!!
💯 It’s the ultimate recycling. I hate to see lost treasures rotting
Always impressed by how much of a gentleman Dennis is. Incredibly knowledgeable whilst being very personable & never patronising.
And he is a true southern gentleman, no cussing or anything even remotely lewd, true family man!
You know you have a great right hand man when he has the same idea to solve a problem without even talking about it! Awesome team!
Only problem with guys like Dennis is that what he and they do make these cars made out of unobtanium for the rest of us.
@@joe6096 it will only get worse when the pre emissions cars will be the only ones that can be modified to race!
@@joe6096 I disagree. The rest of us had 30 years time to get those cars. If he doesn‘t do something with them (being restoring, restomodding or parting out) they will just rot away and the rest of us won‘t see them at all anymore. And that will cost money. Those are antiques. Now you have the chance to buy cars cheap nobody wants. LS1 Camaros are cheap. LS3 Camaros get cheaper and cheaper. SRT Challengers are cheap, S197 Shelby Mustangs are relatively cheap.
"We can only film in the back because they don't want their location revealed".

Dennis Collins, you are without a doubt, The Man.
Thank you for saving these gems. And thank you for the incredible content.
Michael from Tidewater, Va.
Hey Tidewater.
Yep. Radford
If the cars could talk they would say thanks to Dennis we will have another life! 😎👍🇨🇦
Maybe the best 24 minutes of my whole week. Greetings from Sweden
His crew got that hustle!! That's what you get when you treat your employees right!!! Good Stuff!!! Dennis a Cool Dude!!
Must be a 24/7 job finding all the leads to these hidden gems. Thank you for sharing with us!
I guess these vids are being helpful in the cars finding Dennis..
My 2 favorit muscles cars ever. Mustang and Chargers from the 1960's
The Dodge Charger was the most talked about car from the film, and it happened to be driven by the bad guy-a hitman played by Hollywood stuntman Bill Hickman.
Wrong mopar lover.
Glad someone pointed that out
Fun fact. Bill Hickman drove the station wagon and trailer that James Dean had his 550 spyder on, until Dean removed it to get some running in mileage on the way to Salinas.
I've lived in Amarillo most of my life, save for the time in the military. I know exactly where that salvage yard is and have spent time in it looking for old truck parts. Good to see some cars being saved, coming out of Amarillo.
Some more great finds Dennis. I wish that you would show the process of restoring one of these beauties end to end.
The harder you work, the luckier you get. Great finds. Even that VW motor!
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity
"Where the rich ppl live" as his Luis Vitton bag sits on the counter.
😂
full of cash no less
Also Dennis told Zack to go home and pack a bag of change clothes and mention he was going home to pack a bag. But he told Alex to get the truck ,tools and extra tires. I guess Alex had to make due with the clothes he was wearing. Small detail with editing.
@@dannypowers4995 🤣😂🤣😂
It’s fake LV. 😁
You are a man of your word Dennis... Some may have tried to walk back their offer on the porche after discovering the VW engine inside; you kept your end of the deal. Thank you for modeling integrity in a world sorely lacking it.
Love the wagon you were standing next to.
Great job Dennis and team! Thanks for bringing us along! Exciting stuff saving those old cars from the crusher. Zach, nice job editing and posting from the road. That is high tech all the way!
Whole lot better then Richard's food connoisseur video. Nothing worse then a car guy making a video about, lunch, not a car. Richard didn't even get what he ordered for lunch and you got what you went for and more. Great video!
I love that Dennis closes with Richard's tag line.... " Get you some of that!!!!"....😉
Ppp
It's NOT Richards "Tag Line"! If you watch the show, Richard admitted that he stole it from Dennis.
@@chrisjames57
Regardless of whether he "stole" the saying, Richard's the one to continuously use it on "Fast &Loud",and fans associate it with him...🙄
Thanks Dennis for saving those old car's liked the charger I'm just a car lover American pride👍👍👌
That Studebaker wagon that was beside the 68 charger is pretty rare too
Yeah, I was watching it thinking of how cool you could make all those cars by the 68. WOW.
Yep looked like a 57
YES, would make a nice family camper patina look
Was thinking the same. Great lookin car!
I love you videos Keep up the good work
I love your inspiration for being a Mopar man and it's people like you that makes Mopars stay on the road thanks bro
Dennis Collins you sir are an encyclopedia! I’ve learned so more about cars from you just from watching the channel. It also helped me from making a bad financial decision on a jeep that had fist size rust hole in the right rear quarter. There was way more rust then I can tell you about.
Respect your work ethic and tenacity when you’re in the hunt Dennis... and I think you’re always in the hunt!
What a grand waste of cars! Such a shame to see all those beautiful machines going to waste and being crushed specially....Kudos to you for saving some of them.....
Yes. It's hard to understand the mindset of folks who collect these cars just to let them sit wasting away.
@@dmc3302 Exactly!
Money talks, as Dennis just proved. I'm sure the old guy in that yard would part with many of them cars if you brought a suit case full of cash like Dennis did.
Legally i believe there are issues and laws the salvage yard has to abide by and cannot sell a salvaged car to be returned to the road. But after 30 years things change and maybe the 81 yr old owner was going by the old laws saying it will never be sold.
Those chargers as is in like 95 woulda been a great find, now to find that is almost a miracle. Good find.
What I’d give to save all of these 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s cars and restore them to original, stock condition. Once they are gone, they are GONE, which is the sad thing about it. Hope that the other classics in that yard have a good future, it’s really nice these guys are saving these beautiful cars! For all the cars saved in this video: 🇺🇸🇩🇪🇬🇧
"it’s really nice these guys are saving these beautiful cars!"
Yeah, is it though? If they hadn't hoarded them for decades, these cars could have been sold in way better condition. Did Dennis not say these were the only cars the yard had ever sold?
Surely, it would have been better to sell them before the weather/wildlife got to them? The lack of "rusty weather" has certainly helped but it seems like a real waste to me.
@@2H80vids but if they didn’t do anything, they’d still be sitting in the yard rotting away. Would you rather have them do nothing? It’s not a waste, the cars he saved will be restored and hopefully back on the road and become rolling history. I think I know what you’re trying to say, but if they didn’t do anything, they’d be gone for good, and that would be a real waste. If you think they shouldn’t have done anything, in my opinion you aren’t a car guy.
@@Delta_NWAB747fan No, I'm talking about the owners of the yard. They could have passed these cars on many years earlier, rather than hoarding thwem all while they rust away.
@@2H80vids oh misunderstood you, I thought you were saying they shouldn’t have even saved them, at all and let them rust away. My apologies!
I'm not sure there is anyone that has a more vast knowledge of vehicles, than Dennis.
I'll 99.99% Agree, but Porsche IS a TWO Syllable word. Por--Sha Not Porsh. Dennis & Craig Jackson pronounce it both ways in the Same videos. lol
Kinda like getting advice from a professional cabinet maker whose missing a Thumb. LOL
@@lloydgreen4091 I do the same thing. I WANNA stress both syllables , but i really like the way it sounds with one. LOL
That was a Porsche engine 1600 Samoa as a 356, not a.Vw as he thought. Not completely up to speed on Porsche.
@@brandonmorris2513 that’s why everyone pronounces it wrong because it sounds better. Like in the Wolf of Wall Street. POOORSCHE, one syllable. It use to drive me nuts as a kid because I knew the correct pronunciation. Por Shuh. But now I understand why Americans say it incorrectly. I heard Jay Leno talk about it and why he says it incorrectly even though he knows it is incorrect. So if it is okay for Leno to say it incorrectly, I cannot be upset whenever somebody else says it. Leno has forgotten more about automobiles than I will ever know
Love my Coffee Walks 👍👍
It does my heart good to see these Icons of automotive history get a new chance at life!!!
Dennis, you’re sir are a 100% correct with the bullet reference for the charger!
The baddest car chase ever filmed!
The anticipation waiting for the chase to begin once an individual has seen the movie once before is unbelievable!
Not a mopar guy, but loved those chargers. Almost bought a beep beep once.
Second gen Chargers these days are going for big money because everyone wants one
@@79tazman Yeah, and people are finding more of them too. Everybody is just grabbing them now to restore and make $$$. So of course the price is going to go up. Supply and Demand. Hate it cause me and my dad have one, and it's annoying constantly getting offers for it.
@@seanbrosnan2074 Lots of them out there! My neighbor has a '68 R/T in the back of the barn. Of the road since '85.
@@79tazman Really since the late 80's they went for big money/for older cars..Even 318 versions were the same price as a 396 Chevelle SS...
Man how I wish some of my previous employers were like Dennis. Seems like these young men are in good spots working there, although it may be tough on family life.
Great job on the back-seat editing.
The General Lee will always be the worlds most known Charger.
Ok. What’s your point
I prefer the 68’s over the 69s.👍🏻

The wagon setting next too the 68 charger is my dream car, could you imagine it looking new. I've been with my wife since we were 14 we are now 48. What a beautiful family vehicle.
That wagon sittin next to the 68 would be a Kool Kruizer ! 🍻👊🏼. Mr. C .. You and Your crew Rock !!!!
I love the behind the scenes footage showing the whole trip! You should do more videos like this!
Thanks Dennis for saving these vehicles , it's great that they're located in Texas ..... Loved the 68 charger in Bullitt >> nice find with that tr3 . like those English sports cars .
Hell of a job editing this in the back of a truck during a road trip! Well done and cool finds! This is my favorite channel by far on RUclips!
The guys in the charger were the bad guys. Steve McQueen was the cop.
I'm glad you said it.
I wanted to say that until I saw your comment👍
Aw c'mon. He said it was posted without editing. He really was having a bad day. Wrong engine in the Porsche. And looked like no engine in the '68 charger.
I heard it too. Those guys do a pretty darn good job for being unscripted.
I just posted this before seeing your comment.

Love watching you rescue these diamonds in the rough. I would love to see the restoration process of that old Porsche.
Amarillo by morning🎶
Dennis just want to say thank you for what you and your boys do! Saving these cars and bringing them back to life in their original condition is really awesome. I love the this channel, i love the part where you visit local eateries too. NO RESTOMODS lol.
That’s what I like about Dennis and Richard. They will always make you a fair offer. Even if the seller does not know anything about the car. They will make you a fair offer.
You guys do some awesome work. Love to see you save the classics.
For trying to hide the location, they should have covered the name of the yard on the side of the forklift/front end loader!
Took 2 seconds to find it on Google maps lol
@will Scarlet. It’s not Amarillo Auto crushers. It’s “Cherry Avenue Auto Parts”
Yea old dude probably has no idea about google maps and would flip out lol I was coming here to comment the same thing
Was not to hard to find with the name and number on the forklift. 309 west cherry av. Amarillo Tx. its cherry ave auto parts - Good hunting everybody
Open for business.
Awesome finds ... Thank you for the education on the VIN, I learn something new everytime I watch coffee walk
I have become addicted to your channel! One of the biggest reasons is you and your teams attitude! Always up, always smiling, always positive, and always about cars! THANK YOU!
I do have one thing that has me scratching my head............why are you guys driving a vehicle with what appears to be a "check engine" or maybe a "service due" light on?!?! Or is that a trick in the filming that makes it appear to be on?!
Go Zack for getting it uploaded so quick!!! Awesome work y’all, my dad and I love to see it every Friday!!!
One correction, Dennis, MoPars used New Process manual boxes, not Muncie. And the Muncie M-22 was nicknamed the "rockcrusher". I love your channel, thanks for taking us along.
Yes thankyou. I'm a Chevrolet guy have been for almost 40 years. The Rock crusher was named the rock crusher due to the fact that the output shaft was part of the universal on the back of the tail shaft. The m22 Rock crusher back in the sixties early seventies was just a bulletproof for speed trans by Muncie. I have three of them and refuse to sell them good m22 Rock crushers
Cash Talks, B.S. Walks !! Dennis has plenty of Cash. Would Love to see Every Old Car Saved from the CRUSHER!! HISTORY!!
I am 58 and had a 68 Dodge Dart, 2 door, slant six auto bench seat when I was 16. Wasn't a fan at the time but now anything Mopar 68 I wish I had... Thanks Dennis... great episode
The movie Bullet; you had it backwards, Steve McQueen was a detective, he drove the Mustang. The bad guys had the Charger
...and rifles...
I worked with a guy who grew up in the San Francisco area when Bullet was being filmed. He had a 68 Charger that was green and it needed a bunch of work as he had ran it a lot. The production company was looking for 6 chargers to use for the filming. They paid him far more than it was worth which he happily took. His car was used as the car that runs into the gas station at the end of the movie. If you look close it was supposed to hit a pump and then have the explosion, however the car had a mind of its own and ran between the station and the pump. The special effects guy blew the station and unless you know what to look at you would think it hit the pump. According to my friend it was still usable after the shoot banged up a lot and compared to these Chargers was in better shape. He didn't know what happened to the car. He did get to watch the shooting which is why he knew of the problem with the explosion and his car surviving.
Ohh that's the mandela sffect
You beat me to it. McQueen was the cop.
@@craigyirush3492 Don’t blame Dennis Collins about his lack of knowledge on the movie, he was still in diapers when the movie premiered.
You are awesome Dennis!! Another amazing video with great content. Many thanks for sharing with us.
My favorites Porches and old school Mopars. You made my day rescuing these.
Paul here. Not only the forklift ID, but he hard is it to look around Amarillo for a parts store or wreaking/salvage yard. Detective work.
Loving that 68 charger can’t believe the floors are solid, what a find!!
Mark Worman was screaming at this video while yall were reading the VIN
I think Mark closed his right hand only :)
Right!!! I envisioned that too
Man I was thinking the same thing he might get in contact with Dennis to purchase them that would be great content for GYC let's see what happens on the next episode
Heck with the chargers. That 55/56 Studebaker wagon got my attention! Then seeing the line up of Studebakers was stunning. There were some real gems in that row!
Love the show; Bullit came out in 1968 while I was in high school (freshman in 1972); one of the priests secured the film reel and let us watch it all we wanted (no streaming, no VHS, no DVD's back then). We had the actual film. I will never know why we got to watch an R-rated movie while in a minor Catholic Seminary, but it solidified my love of cars. Frank Bullit was the police, though, and the Charger was the bad guys (not the police). We watched the car scene multiple times, in reverse, forward, slow speed, etc. The Charger loses about 5 wheel covers during the chase, and a green VW gets passed about three times. But as Dennis says, both vehicles were terrific. The only Coffee Walk episode, and I have about watched them all, that I can correct Dennis, but never on his knowledge of cars. Thanks for all the great entertainment Dennis, and for sharing your knowledge of vehicles.
Thanks Dennis and crew for saving them Chargers! Love the channel and content keep up the great work! I'm here for the algorithm!
Appreciate you taking us with you , I’d let them set the 68 in my yard if you need the space lol , and it has my favorite wheels for a charger.

VERY AWESOME SCORE Dennis !!! Great job guys...
I say bring the '69 back to original, and restomod the '68.
I’d like to see both of them be restored to original. These cars don’t need the big pimped out rims or new modern parts, I’d like to see them what they looked like back in the day. That’s just my opinion though, I just think stock is usually is and looks better, representing the brand!
Don’t “restomod” anything. Ugh.
The 68 was missing its engine.

Dennis , your enthusiasm is palpable and l love it ! I get as excited as you and if that TR3 is a 3b that makes it pretty rare and valuable ! Shame about the 912 engine but proves that even the "king" can very occasionally come a cropper ! Thanks Dennis .
it sucks, after 76 the 912 actually did switch to a porsche tuned VW 2.0 engine from the 914. The pre-69 912's are probably worth a heck of alot more with flat 6 porsche engines.
What a dream job working with this crew.
It baffles me how someone could’ve junked a car that was only 6 years old. Even with a blown motor, it would’ve been worth repairing back in the day.
Due to the 1973 OPEC oil embargo interest was very low for V8 cars. As an example my first car was a 69 Barracuda bought at a plymouth dealer in 1974, 5 years old, 70k miles, I paid 375 dollars for it!
@@mitchevans1692 i get the cheap prices. I had a 71 GTO Convertible with 455 HO back in the mid 80’s.
It had faded paint. And needed seats redone. But i only payed 350. Drove it daily for a year. But that was about a15yr old car. Even with gas issues (which i remember as a kid) i cant see dumping a 5 year old car. Theres so much more life in it.
@@johnnymula2305 I think what is difficult to understand for people that weren't of driving age was the uncertainty of the situation, this was the first time America was powerless over their own economics, nobody knew what was going to happen with price and supply of gas so there was a period of time that the value of V8 cars dropped to the point where scrap value was near equal to market value on a car that needed work. Smart people held on to them, this wrecking yard was smart not to crush some of them.
Guys owned that yard since 62' and those are the first 3 cars sold. It pains me to think of some of the cars crushed in that time.
Background was full of current vehicles that could be parted out instead of crushing. Lots of us in the rust belt would love rust free parts.
I was thinkng the same, and being from NJ, also how many rust free cars were crushed that we east coast rust belt folks could've used parts from.
The yard is Amarillo auto crushers if you want to call them for part's
@@kman-mi7su are you old enough to remember Kober’s Auto salvage in Washington Township NJ ??
They are in this yard because nobody wanted them.
I'd love to be part of this team, cars are my life and i literally have nothing going on here in Ohio. No wife, no kids, no current boss by choice...i'd come there, set up a tent in the side yard and work open to close, i can't get enough of cars and there is no other business like this on earth.
Awesome finds. As usual. 💯👍
