- Is the '68 Dodge Charger the "best car" like Freiburger says. Maybe, but the General Mayhem is one of the most iconic Roadkill cars. Freiburger and Dulcich give it tons of body upgrades and engine-saving modifications before hitting the road for proper break-in procedures, aka burnouts!

A shout-out to Chris for replacing all the metal.
For Chris the fixing the butchery that was done.
I see his RUclips videos but didn't know if it was fake or not 🤣
Yeah wow they bucherd it great job Chris on the complete redo👍
He does artful work. 😎👍
Chris is the BEST. JUNKERUP!!
All thanks to Chris Birdsong, seems to have been forgotten. We'll worth watching his series on the Generals restoration.
Freiburger mentions it on his social media freely, it must be something to do with motortrend.
@@fellowship_of_the_goat He mentions it several times on the full version. This version must be cut up weird
Freiburger gave the proper credit to Chris birdsong for working on the body, Birdsong was even featured in this episode explaining what he did. But you can't see it here because RUclips drastically shortened this into a clip from the full episode which is on motor trend
Major props to Chris for putting this thing back together...👍
Agreed
Nice how they mentioned that right?
@@nathandube1685 you are absolutely correct there, Sir...
@@markdavis8947 i agree with you 100%…. I sure would like to know the labour cost on that endeavour!!!!! Someone with that kind of attention to detail and skillset can’t be cheap
@@nobodyspecial6436 pretty basic hack job. that wasnt a hi end job by any means
Not only did Chris Birdsong replace the metal, he also gave General Mayhem a serious rear end racing end style upgrade
CHRIS BIRDSONG (JUNKERUP) YOU ARE A BLOODY LEGEND! Got that Freiburger & co.
What about a shout out to Chris Birdsong?
Chris from junkerup needs more recognition for getting this car back to the shape its in.
Freiburger gave the proper credit to Chris birdsong for working on the body, Birdsong was even featured in this episode explaining what he did. But you can't see it here because RUclips drastically shortened this from the full episode which is on motor trend
birdsong did a nice job putting it back together
Chris from junkerup youtube channel did really a great job.
Agree with other comments below, would have been nice to mention that Chris Birdsong basically rebuilt the body.
Completely agree!!
100%
This is not the full episode, its a RUclips chop job
He did give the credit to birdsong and actually had him on the show in this episode but you would need to watch the full episode on motor trend, RUclips shortened it drastically.
Good job junkerup
I wish you guys had mentioned Chris Birdsong For all the Fab work on this Pile b4 he got a hold of it was junk
But rude eh. He really put his heart and soul into it and no thanks.
Finnegan should get him to rebuild HIS junk pile 68 too.
They did in the actual episode, Chris was actually there to explain some of what he did. This is a severely cut version of the episode.
For everybody complaining about them not giving credit to Chris Birdsong this is an edited down version of the full episode. I know for a fact David mentioned Chris’s work on the car multiple times on Instagram. I haven’t seen the edited version but I would be willing to bet he got a shoutout.
Mr Birdsong did an amazing job on the body and chassis repairs 😁
Chris is the man 🤘🤘
Motor trend needs to put full length roadkill episodes back on youtube
I see Dulcich updated his Grill too. 😬
Great, but when did Dulcich steal those horses teeth?
😆😆😆
Always loved the car. 68's are the ones. Awesome thing -to be better than the legend you're named after. Chris Birdsong is amazing knowledge and talent, really enjoyed how sweet and professional a job he did. I love it back with 440/727. That's what "belongs" in the car.
Put it back together and let me know how much you would take for it and I would like to have one for myself thanks
Dole-check got himself a new pair of choppers!
I was looking for this comment
Yes Mr Birdsong needs a shout out for all that hard work I don’t think anybody Elsa could have fixed the superstructure like he did!!

Bring roadkill back to U TUBE.
That 440 motor home engine must be so happy, in heaven and excited. It cried with love and gratefulness when it was put back in that beautiful charger. Machines do have feelings., I can feel that.
Phenominal stuff guys. Men like you guys are truly the best man.
Blessings
I agree!
Also not to mention that 535 HP and 565 Ibs of torque of 440 Motor home engine with some beafed up factory parts as well as some aftermarket parts.
Shout out to Chris Birdsong.
i remember saw general mayhem when i was 13 and i was in love with the car...now having 23 years and looking him again makes me really happy and remember that time. Amazing job
And thanks to Chris Birdsong for resurrecting that car and undoing the previous butchery.
Bittersweet watching this, miss being able to binge all the shows on MTOD before it became unavailable in my country.. Oh well what can you do🤷♂
Still Willing To Pay for Content. Love MTOD.
I'm in the same boat, faithful customer from the very beginning of the monthly fee launch of MTOD then just dumped off the channel.
Sucks
@@jaimesplahn1579 I'm happy to pay, just not available in Australia anymore.
@@peterdawson8180 I'd say try a VPN, but they started blocking me from using mine. UGH
download them?
So glad to see the Mayhem back to it's former glory, complete with the motor home engine. Now get out there and send it around Dirtfish where it can really show its stuff.
Now knowing Chris 'Junkerup' Birdsong actually rebuilt this car, (and these guys didn't even give one thanks). I'm assuming most of the rest of the work done in this video, was done off-camera by other mechanics. Dulcich probably had to have a stunt double just for the ride-along.
Yeah after watching all the work that other guy did to rebuild this car this was pretty disappointing. Wonder if they even do anything themselves
Dave talks about Chris doing the metal work all the time on his instagram. Blame motor trend

@@DocHolliday3841 too bad this vital truth isn't pinned. So many on here bashing because of not seeing the full unedited episode
it would be nice to give Birdsong credit for mostly building the car

Chris really did a great job of putting the car back together. Anyone who loves cars and wants to earn 6 figures without giving up 4 - 6 years earning a degree, Learn how to weld, fabricate, design, use CAD, etc There is a need for talented designers, fabricators, CAD users. So if sitting at a desk or being on call 24/7 isn't for you. Join the next generation of car guys and gals.
That's what I've been doing. I'm 17 and I've got a 81' c10 with a 67' corvette 327,
A 72 ford bumpside, and a 1968 jeep gladiator with the AMC 327.
A 1984 Pontiac fiero, but that's my sister's, but I work on it. One of those would make a neat rock crawler when you take all the fiberglass off, lift it, drop a v8 and weld a roll cage around it. (A dream of mine)
All I'm missing is a dodge, Studebaker, and a international, then I have completed my pickup collection.
I look at them as my retirement money, but I'd like to keep them if I can.
People get salty when they ask my dad if they can buy his trucks and he tells them there mine.
I also pickup any dirtbikes people don't want, so I can build up a nice fleet for camping for the family. I was given one for free because the frame split in two. I took a hammer and a welder to it, some paint and it was like new.
6 figures lol, for very lucky people, and you shouldnt be chasing big money
@marco7563 Thats the norm. We didn't get into motorsports, fabrication, customization for the money. LOL Were thankful after making no money for many years to be able to support our families. It's now a respected field where skilled people can make as much as a PhD. But yes, that is what you can expect to earn if you're really good at fabricating, restoration, body and paint, rebuilding damaged vehicles, building racecars,etc.. I don't know where you live, but a hundred thousand dollars a year isn't a lot of money if you live in LA, San Diego or on the east coast. I grew up in Oceanside Calif and lived in NY for many years. Top A mechanics in the NY and LA markets were earning 100,000 a year in the mid-1980s eighties. I was one of those A mechanics so I would know. what we were earning. A small fabrication ,bodyshop, etc that does A + work will easily gross a million plus a year. So yes,100,000 -150,000 plus dollars is about the average salary for a A + guy or gal today.. I knew two brothers who were body men at a huge Lincoln Mercury dealer in Jacksonville, FL One brother did all the paint blending while the other did heavy collision repairs. They were netting 500 - 600 a week in the late 1970s for 40 hours.I saw their pay stubs. But again, the brothers were really good at what they did. Of course, this is for skilled people, not hackers who change jobs and or their business name every 3 years. So, yes if you're really good, and do A+ work you can expect to earn.100,000 -200,000 a year easily.
Great to see it back. Shame you’re not allowed to watch Roadkill if you’re not an American 🤷🏻♂️
Chris B killed it replacing all the chop-shop hack job metalwork that was done prior to his magic!
We used fuel oil accumulators and lube oil accumulators in the engineering plants on US Navy ships. Ours were high pressure cylinders with rubber nitrogen-filled bladders inside. When a fuel oil or lube oil system was pressurized the bladder was compressed as the cylinder was filled. If we had an unexpected plant shutdown the fuel accumulators would allow us a more controlled shutdown of the boilers. The lube oil accumulators would provide enough oil flow to protect rotating machinery as they rolled to a stop. Never thought about putting one one a car. Darlington, South Carolina
Roadkill and roadkill garage are the best shows on TV, I hope there is more to come
Love that car and the OG Muscle Truck
Good to see the general back to making some mayhem 👍
I still can remember when this thing was first done up. Glad to see it back the way its meant to be!
You know at first I gotta say I was surprised they took the hellcat motor out but I get it! Something bout a 440 sound that is unmatched!! Love the episode!
To alot of Modern car lovers they consider it a huge Down Grade.
@@CJColvin imo it’s definitely the opposite!
Did Steve get a new grill.. something is different
I was thinking the same thing. Whitening/invisalign or dentures?
They did nothing to the body Hats off to Chris for that
No mention either...sad

Shout- out to Chris Birdsong for all the great work he did on the car, it would be prober for you guys to give him credit for that….
They did give him the credit and they even showed birdsong giving us a little tour of what he did. The full episode is on motor trend, RUclips drastically shortened this clip.
That car, has been rebuilt, so many times. ❤❤❤❤
Awesome job.
All reality t.v. is real lol. . . Prop's to Chris for rebuilding the old girl for you . . . definitely deserves a mention . . . great to see her back to her old self !! Pleased that you have saved her . . . collectively !!
This is why I fell in love with this show!

I LOVE IT!!!!! GENERAL MAYHEM RESSURECTION!!!! GREAT BUILD ON THE 440!!!!! ONE BADASS MOTOR!!!! GREAT BUILD DAVID & STEVE!!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!! I LOVE MY HOT ROD FAMILY!!!!! SO MUCH FUN!!!!
A different guy named Chris rebuilt a lot of the body,
Wow this turned into a “give Chris Birdsong some love” thread lol i kept admiring his work too… wonder how much other work is done behind the scenes? But yep Birdsong Rulez!!!
They didn't thank the guy who restored Al the missing metal and rust.
Glad to see the general back.
Oooohhhh the memories.... Thank you so much guys for this ❤️
Wish you guys would move the videos back to youtube.
I have a K member out of a 68 charger after we upgraded to a modern suspension so it would handle better. You can have it if you want it. It's in Maine
After reading alot of these comments about Chris Birdsong and having built a few in my 65 years, I have to tell you the absolute truth. Chris Birdsong did the hard, difficult, and all the things that take the awesome skill he has. No offense to Freiburger and Dulcich- but.Chris's talent is why the General is so sweet. Lots of us can do what David and Steve did. Hardly anyone of us can do what Chris did. Or at least as well as he did.. Period.
I loved this show and Ill love it till this day!
This has to be the best episode of any roadkill videos… 3.0
Acompanhei a saga do general mayhem... Muito bom ver que está na ativa e com upgrades. Parabéns pelo video. From brazil.
So nice to see some traditional technology. The kind that just works.
I WATCHED BIRDSONGS WORK ....ITS SERIOUS
STUFF......HES A PERFECTIONIST.....THE SLIDERS HE PUT IN THE SHAKLES. ....YOU HAVE A VERY UNIQUE CHARGER.....
What, no mention of Chris? Geez guys give old turdshlong his props!

I am a newer fan, your shows are fantastic and fun to watch. Keep up the great work.
Great video. Looking forward to seeing the GT Universal Engine Lift plate on the next episodes!
You guys are masters. I'll never be as good as you but damned if I'm not inspired by your work!
This is the first roadkill garage clip I’ve watched since I had my subscription canceled for not living in North America. Thanks for at least making the clip a decent length.
Chris Birdsong did a great job undoing all the hackery that ''professional'' shop did. They Roadkill'd that car more than Roadkill ever could.
did Dulcich get new teeth or something?
I thought he looked different somehow.
God Dam, it's so good to see this charger up and running again.
Iv been dreaming of owning one of theses 2nd gen charges all my life.
Hopefully 1 day.
Yo Steve! Whats up with your chiclets?
Pieces of the c-body Roadrunner live on 🤘
always loved Steve's shop and property .
Yall should put a full interior in this make it comfortable outside will look and sound like mayhem but itd be more practical for events and cruising
The oil accumulator.....with a valve
Can. Also prelube. Before startup.
Reverse. Lockout.
love watching you guys
I see that that other Master of Mayhem Westen Champlin has shoehorned a vast Cummins diesel into an old Charger. No doubt you've seen the video...👍
Good stuff! More please!👍😎
Glad the Charger is still alive
Unfortunately, in Europe we can not see new episodes of road kill and road kill garage
Same in New Zealand 😭
This was made on my birthday!
I want a part 2 like the old days ☹️💔 a full episode return to tradition
I have to say those are some great ideas. 😎
Happy it's getting the wedge back
Ooooooo careful motortrend somone outside of america might see this
Great vid! 👍👍👍
Amazing job bring back the og general mayhen
I didn’t think you would still work on this beast. I remember watching the first episodes the car with my dad… good times.
I have a photo of the car in my room
good to see it again
Live the whole concept of the show....I have a 93 d21 I'm dropping a 5.7 vortec backed with a t55, simple and hopefully does the super smokey stop sign exits😎🤙
Don't do it. My buddy put a 5.3 in his D21 once. It's too much motor for that truck. All it would do is sit and spin. It was a total waste of time and money. You're better off with an SR20, or turboing the KA that's in it.
Good call 👍🏼
This episode was awesome
im so looking forword to the day when ill be able to watch all the stuff ive missed but thatle take some time so just gonna be wating
After they grew up with our money (we, the international audience), now they left us outside in the cold ...
We appreciate you Chris (junkerup) birdsong they might not but we do🇺🇸
Glad you put it back, kind of. But not a bunch of these cars left out there.
I still love the cherry bomb muffler version on the mayhem
Frieberger really needs a podcast called "Flip Flops & Big Blocks"
THE LEGEND RETURNS
Who gave Steve Mr.Eds teeth???
I meant no disrespect I'm a clown
Wilbur
beautiful car
That's badass
You have spent a lot and time on the charger, would love to see you do a complete restore , it deserves restoring, its worth a lot of money. Keep up the great work guys
But it is the Mayham. The value is it junk.
It's worth more in this state then a fully restored charger to be honest, this car is kind of what lead to it exploding. Them tossing a cheap motorhome motor in this clapped out charger then sliding it around in the rally course. Granted, it's far nicer now then it ever was back then due to the work Chris did.
they just had Birdsong unhack job the General Mayhem body (see his videos on it junkerup birdsong here on youtube), he fixed most the wrecked body stuff while keeping the look , he did the reinforcements it should of gotten before the hellcat twisted it , this basically was them restoring it back to its most iconic state with some upgrades
@@zacwicht3189 Yep, massively reinforced the frame, repaired all the damage caused by the modifications, and more.
I love this car more than any other road kill car
