    *One side benefit of watching you is seeing regional differences in home construction. One example, never saw removable metal soffit plates before, only horizontal planks with screened vents. Cheers!*

      I got stung by a yellow jacket 2 weeks ago. If it helps ease your fear of being stung (if that’s what you’re scared of) then it only hurts for a little while. It’s definitely shocking and trust me, they WILL chase you, they were stinging me and a friend because we moved a branch. Just find a safe place inside and pour some water on it. It will swell a little but it will mostly just throb for a bit! It’s not as bad as most ppl think it is but it definitely gave me an adrenaline rush 😅 (it was my first time being stung too lol)

      Check out the vibis rechargeable sting relief device .. almost looks like a vape .. my dad got stung by a hornet and used it and didn’t feel anything afterwards.. wish my company would invest in them for us haha .. although knock on wood I haven’t been stung in over 6 yrs .. and last time I was was a vacation in a diff state by African honey bee while swimming lol go figure right ..

    Pretty sure those are Yellow Faced Hornets (cousin to the Bald Faced Hornet). The big head with big oval eyes, their size and the type of nest they built give it away.

    • @AlexLopez-rx8lw
      @AlexLopez-rx8lw 9 месяцев назад +1

      Those are just typical yellow jackets. There's no such thing as a "yellow faced hornet." Bald faced hornets aren't hornets at all, but another species of yellowjacket. Come on man, know your social wasps. Same goes for people who call yellowjackets that nest in the ground, "ground bees" annoying! Theres no such thing! Their all yellowjackets.

    Umm sooo yellow jackets can just mimic hornets nests now !? That looked exactly like a bald faced hornets nest but was yellow jackets.. I thought their nests differed significantly which is why you even said it was weird you saw an entrance point. They usually are more tan, smoother and fully enclosed .. any explanation ? I’ve never seen a yj nest so similar to hornets like that gray and wavy and everything as usually also hornets will have the thicker lines

    5:01 they are not flying. Is that the point of the white powder?

    • @dtrueg
      @dtrueg 4 дня назад

      The dust pretty much suffocates them.. think of it as a human doing the cinnamon spoon challenge lol but deadlier.. to them. Also works great for pretty much all pests including carpenter bee burrow holes (they will drop out of those holes like flies) but if dust could be its own pest control it could be.. depending on the dust and ingredients.. there’s some dusts well,, one I can think of that you can actually use as a liquid and can mix with water which is kind of rare.. just be sure to always follow the label as the label is the law. Also he used dust as yj usually don’t have that type of entry way.. hornets usually you would wasp freeze that then dust.. which is why I asked wtf did they take over a hornets nest haha that’s a joke as it’s impossible including improbable
