Grip a paper clip with some needle-nose pliers. Boom, it's out. I'm pretty sure they deliberately made this to be the diameter of a standard paper clip.
Hahah that could be! Thanks for the tip mate!
Or just get a cheap spring bar tool. Much easier and safer.
@@m.kennedy342 true!
I got one of these for the military and got a Nato strap to make it a bit more durable. This video helped me perfectly. Kiitos!
Sounds perfect! Ole hyvä! :)
thanks for the tutorial, dude. i have f105w and since the strap that came with my watch broke i had to pick between nato and resin strap and i picked nato because it's more durable. for those who are wondering resin strap is indeed more comfortable but you get used to nato strap and you can pretty much forget about it breaking unlike the ones that come by default.
No problem! And very true!
thanks for the video m8 it helped a lot
no problem mate, happy to hear that it helped :)
I have a large wrist and the standard strap is tight on my wrist so the idea of a longer strap sounds good . Your demonstration video was a big help , thanks for your efforts
Very glad to hear it helped! That's what it's all about :)
You can easily use a smart phones sim card tray pin for pin holes of this casio F91w watches. It ideally fits to remove the pins.
That’s a good idea for an every day tool that can be laying around the house! Thanks for sharing👍🏻
👍yeah😉
Thank you for this. ❤️
Just Yumi Thank _you_ for watching! :)
Thanks a lot! this really helped.
Glad to hear that! My pleasure mate!
Hi guys, my suggestion. The lugs are small and plastic, you dont want to damage them. Dont try to force the pins out with the resin (original) strap on. Take a straight-edge razor and carefully, slowly cut the resin strap in between the plastic lugs. Cut on the top of the strap and the bottom of the strap in the same area where the pin is located. Go slow and steady with the razor so you prevent injury. Twist the resin strap slowly until it tears away from the pin. Repeat on the other piece of the resin band. You can then fit a nato strap without taking the pins out, just guide the nato thru, you may need tweezers to help it thru. If you want to take the pins out, you can still do it, of course. But you may risk damaging the lugs, but it's still easier to force the pins out once the original, resin strap is taken off first. Force the pins out from left to right, with the back of the watch facing you with the scipt on the back in the readable position. The pin is tapered, so you dont want to force out the thicker side near your tool. (I love these little Casios, the original straps always break after you use them for a while, but dont throw away the watch. Just replace the old strap with a 18mm nato strap.)
Good advice! Thanks for that mate👍🏻
Very well explained. Thank you.
Thank you Anders. Your video helped me change my damaged W86 strap for a NATO. The camouflage one you have on yours wasn't available for my A163, so it's getting a plain black one when that arrives.
My pleasure mate! Plain black one sounds good as well :)
Getting those pins out was a real pain in the ass. Used a ball point pen to push them out and then slid out the straps and pulled out those pins - was easier. Pushed the watch against the edge of my wooden writing table to get the pins back in place. You're right it's easy once the pins are out. Pimped up my F91W with an 18mm bond. Cheers!
Nice! Yeah it really is a pain without the right tools.. the funny thing was that my springbar tool actually has a perfect pusher pin for the job. I just didn't know it when I made this video haha. Just have to screw off one of the "forks", flip it over and screw it back in. With the right tool it was easy!
Thanks for the tip on using a pencil. It actually worked better than my springbar tool.
Hahah sure thing! Glad to hear it was useful :)
@@NordicWatchChannel can i put nato 22mm on f-91w?
@@reevder4867 Hmm that will not be easy and I don't know how it will look. If you want to try it, you will have to make cuts into the 22mm nato strap, like I do on the video on my channel where I put a 22mm nato strap on a casio ae1300wh. But still, the f91w is more tricky due to even tighter lugs.
Usual 'engineering' solution to poking small pins is to use the shank end of ordinary twist drills. Advantage of drills are that they are hardened and of known parallel diameter. (you'll ideally need a selection but I guess a 1.2mm drill would be a good compromise) Careful not to snap the hardened (=brittle) drill. Small pin-vise is ideal tool to hold and manipulate the drill. It would be interesting to measure the dia of each end of the strap pins using a vernier (Engineering OCD kicking-in maybe ?)
Good tip haha! All the drills I have are too large but good one to keep in mind and for all the viewers :)
Svensk? 🤝 😀
Oavsett nordisk tillhörighet,
Så har du ett riktigt bra konto!
Tack!
👍🏼
Bra gissning! Finlandssvensk, så det var nära😁 Stort tack! Glädjer mig att höra :)
The pins on my watch was real tight. Tried everything including oiling the pins, hammering on my table and the mechanical pencil tip. Ended up damaging the pin hole and it didn't come out. A resilient pin indeed.
Juniper L Dammit! Bummed to hear that it got damaged. I’m sure you also tried moving it in both directions since they are only removable in one direction?
I thought it was just me! I couldn’t get the pin out of the hole, I ended up bending the pin that came w my replacement watch strap. I don’t know if it’s some version of this watch that the pin is “fixed”?
@@babylion3263 hadn’t noticed this comment but I don’t think there is a version with fixed pins. The pin is fixed in one direction but not in both. Are you sure you didn’t push it in the wrong direction?
I found it really easy using the cork screw from a Swiss Army Knife.
Sounds like a solid method! Thanks for sharing buddy :)
The pins slide out the side with pliers after cutting the resin strap off, it’s a throw away item for me anyway. Liking your videos
Living This Everyday Life thanks! Much appreciated. Haha I wanted to keep mine just in case. Turns out my springbar tool actually did have the blunt end.. I just had to unscrew one end and flip it 😂 Then it wasn’t difficult at all! Wish i knew it before I made this video haha
Thank god this is a cheap watch, cause I completely destroyed the plastic around the pinhole
Hahah yeah it does get ruined quite easily. Not a big problem financially but a pain to have to get a new watch maybe :/ No watch person wants to spend any extra time waiting on a watch!
If buying another f91 you now have a spare digital module for it
Use super glue to fill the holes, and add baking soda after to make it permanent, the strap won’t be able to be taken off but u will be able to wear it though 😅
Thanks
My pleasure man! Thanks for watching :)
Is that a Finnish incantation at 06:07 ? Excellent video.
Thank you! No haha, that’s just my attempt at writing what it sounds like to press something hard😁 hard to describe!
just got a pair of the james bond nato straps. can’t wait for them to arrive
edit: they arrived. so fucking cool
Nice! They'll look great! 8)
The casio watches look nice on the Nato straps. Where did you buy them?
Hi Roku! They are pretty much the cheapest I could find so nothing special :) I think I bought them from cheapestnatostraps.com!
@@NordicWatchChannel hi, what size do you need to get for the F91? Thanks for the video
Louie de Finesse Hi Louie!, 18mm size👍🏻😊 Thanks for watching!😊
Hey Anders Love your vids. I am having difficulty changing this watch buckle and the strap retainer, I can't seem to push the spring bar to release them, and i searched EVERY where to find if anyone did it before on this watch but no one has. Do you know how to do it? If you do a search, no one has it on RUclips thus far.
Michael Hi Michael! Glad to hear that you like my vids! So you mean the buckle on the original resin strap? I haven’t checked but I’ll do it as soon as I get home and then get back to you :)
@@NordicWatchChannel yup! the buckle on the original strap. Not many if not none has done a vid on how to change that buckle i think. From what I know, its not a spring bar, its a solid bar. =(
Sorry for the delay! It took me a while to find the strap. To your delight I'm glad to inform you that it is in fact fastened with a spring bar of some sort! It is removeable from one side only it seems. The other side is fixed to the buckle. But nonetheless you can take the buckle out and i guess you could replace it and put a regular spring bar in there :)
Might actually be a solid bar, but it was nonetheless easily removed the same way you remove a spring bar. Hope this helps! Let me know :)
@@NordicWatchChannel yay! thank u so much! I'll give it a shot!
Did you say resin is more comfortable? I never wore a nato i always heard it was comfortable so thatd why i wanted to put one on. The resin is pretty comfortable by itself the 158 band is more uncomfortable
I personally like the resin strap comfort-wise! But I like the look of a nato more so that's why I've switched. Nato strap is comfortable too, especially if you get a better quality one :)
Used to have a Casio, I wonder where it went... Haven't had a watch for over ten years, allergic to metal straps, and the plastic ones that come with watches are usually too short... bought a 5€ watch, now ordered a 20 € NATO strap :)
I see! How about titanium watches and titanium bracelets?
Whether 18mm nato strap only will fit for f91w or can I try a 22mm. In online 22mm only available for sale give me a suggestion
Hi! Only 18mm will fit without cutting the strap. If you buy a 22mm strap you will have to cut it like I do in my video:
ruclips.net/video/aFxgVJBrhco/видео.html
It will be more difficult on a f91w that the watch on the video tho.. I recommend getting the 18mm one!
bruh its so hard to remove the pins out of these bois. i think it varies from watch to watch. some f91 are easier than other...
Hahah yeah they are.. I there's some variation too. This one was a pain in the a** tho xD
Anders u can just buy a cheap watch tool repair kit off eBay. The kit contains a series of “pin” tools which easily push that through.👍🏼
Yeah I actually got one a few months ago! Amazing how cheap you can get large kits. Quality isn't great of course but does the job :) The funny thing is that the springbar tool I used actually had a pin tool integrated in it, but I didn't notice until after the video haha!
Which strap is for casio a158 w 18mm or 22mm please reply
18mm! :)
I have a Casio W 127h, Do these NATO straps come in smaller size? My wrist is pretty small about 5.8inches
Hi! These 18mm nato straps I ordered from cheapestnatostraps are definitely shorter than the other ones I have. But it doesn't really matter! It's really easy to shorten them yourself by first cutting, then heat-sealing them. It will look like it was made to that length. I'll try to make a video over the weekend about this :)
@@NordicWatchChannel Alright thank you! A video would Definetly be a helpful guide for us people with small wrists.
Hey I know what you mean. I have a pretty scrawny wrist myself! But that's how I found out how to shorten the straps that come in a longer length haha! Leather straps are a different ballgame though..
In your opinion, what would be a nice strap type/colour for a female? Both for the f91 and the 158? :)
Hi! Hmm for the 158 I would say a mesh if there is one that will fit! That would look really nice and I know that casio at least sells some small digi models with mesh bracelets :) For the f91w hmmm... maybe a perlon strap or something? They would at least fit really easily due to teir slimness!
@@NordicWatchChannel hey buddy me again! On the metal Casio strap, once you adjust the length of the clipper but, is there a way to remove the excess bit of strap?
Hmm not any designed way.. so if you want to do that you might have to uae a powertool or something like that. But with the right tools and some effort it should turn out nice :)
How did you remove the strap from your a158?
The a158 has normal spring bars, which I removed with a spring bar tool!
Is it possible to do this on a A171?
I was not familiar with the model but I looked it up and it looks like you can do it with that model also👍🏻
what are the dimensions of the strap required for the watch??
The width of the strap needs to be 18mm! It helps if the strap isn't too thick either.. but a basic thickness nato strap should be ok. :)
@@NordicWatchChannel thanx man appreciate it..👍👍😊😊
Red Hood By all means! Appreciate you watching 😊
Nice Video, but I wondered if you could show to how to do it on a Casio A158W, since there seem to be no holes in the watch to remove the pins. Anyways, I like to upgrade Casios with Nato Straps. (^^b
The A158W has basic spring bars! Check this video out to see how those work :)
ruclips.net/video/42xQfckD-PM/видео.html
I support that
how many millimeters is the width of the strap?
Hi! It’s 18mm wide :)
Nice video. Are you btw a finlandssvensk?
Thanks buddy! Yes I am, how did you figure? :)
@@NordicWatchChannel I happen to be one aswell, figured because of your Swedish name and the fact that you're Finnish :D glada vappen i efterskott!
Cool! Glad to hear that "locals" are running into my channel even though I hardly market it :) Glada vappen till dig med :)
@@NordicWatchChannel It's quite a fun coincidence. I'm looking for a watch because I'll be starting my military service in July, and Casio caught my interest because of the functionality for the price, and for the fact that I like the looks :)
slicedpineapple199 Nice! I wish I would’ve been into watches back in 2013 when I served 😁 Could’ve had a cool watch with some real mutual experiences.. I’d recommend Casio for sure! Something like a Casio ae1200 or then a G-Shock BB5600😎 All I can say is: aamuja!/dägä!
how wide should the strap take?
Hi, the strap is 18mm wide!
What size strap is this? 20mm or 22mm?
can you use a 20mm strap?
F M this is actually 18mm! Can’t use a 20mm strap without cutting it into the right size at the lugs. I have a video about that on my channel. So give it a shot if you feel confident trying it out :)
@@NordicWatchChannel which video?
Here's a link to that video :)

I can not remove the bracelet I have a 91-WM
Need helps pls
Hi! Mine was on really tight the first time I took it off. The method I used on this video should work as long as you get a tool that is rougly the right size (not too big) and make sure you push the pin in the correct direction!
@@NordicWatchChannel Yes I have the tool for put out but it doesn’t work. I think I’m gonna cut the bracelet
@@diegorubbens1074 hmm that is strange.. but you will still need to get the bars out even after cutting.. so it might not help that much. I was surprised by the amount of force that needed to be applied the first time I took it off!
is the strap 18 mm or 20 mm?
Hi Evan! The strap is 18mm :)
What size is the strap?
It’s 18mm wide!
For me the ORIGINAL strap is perfect.
Definitely nothing wrong with the original strap! It has a few advantages over natos and other straps. Doesn't get wet or doesn't start to smell (that I know of). After all, many people (like myself) use these Casios for training and nato straps do tend to stink up after a while.
@@NordicWatchChannel you can wash the nato straps with a toothbrush in a bowl of soapy water :)
Yes that's true! I've done so too :)
How do you do it with the a168?
Hi! I think the a168 is just the same as the a158, so normal spring bars, but the fit is probably really snug so you might have to bend the spring bars a little bit or something :)
@@NordicWatchChannel how do you bend it?
Sorry I didn't notice this comment.. Hmm well I guess there's many ways. I think mine just got curved by accident when I tried to force a thick nato under it :D
well i hope the ears on the watch don't break from that tension , the snug fit puts on it
True! Only time will tell😂
Is it 18 mm strap?
Yes it is!
they look sick on a nato strap
Yeah it's a nice touch!
With those gloves you look like mickey Mouse :)
Haha! Maybe I should talk like him too😁
I tried in 168 but my finger was killing me
Haha I know, it’s hard work!
I did it. It took 2 days but i dit it. I put a green nato strap on my old 158
Nice! Hahah I really hope you like it and it wasn’t all for nothing😂
paperclip...
That would probably work well!
Fantastic video you taking basically a rubbish watch and making it even more rubbish with a crap NATO strap.
Fantastic response! Thanks :) Good thing you watched it so you can do the same now.
